- Building my dust collection system.
In this video I'm making the filter housing, and the bin box. Put the unit together and test it.
I've made the filter in part one, and is turned out to be pretty effective.
The dust shield will need some improvements.
I think it creates a turbulence above it, allowing fine dust build up on top of it. If I would make it shorter and steeper, it will be more effective. ( not like it causing any problems)

I love using materials and things I have laying around to make what you need. Plus you always end up learning a bunch, like when you said that there was dust collecting on the cowling, that’s how we learn. Trial and error. Amazing job. You just earned this subscriber

I would agree with the comments about making the dust collector bin cylindrical and introducing the air flow around the rim of the bin.
By using a deflector the way you have you force air downward onto the pile of dust and cause it to move again after it has settled.

Interesting approach but i think cyclone separator or Thien-baffle would serve you better. It can catch most of the dust and so extends filter lifespan a lot. You can make one even from an old bucket. Maybe you alredy did that. It is a old video.

Excellent build,perhaps get a plastic liner or a kitchen bin etc that sits inside your bottom bin,you can just lift it out with the sawdust in it ready to dispose of / use.
Thank you. I have a plan for installing a clear plexiglass strip on the side of the bin, so I can easily check how full it is. A bin lining will interfere with that, unfortunately.
I think will be worth to try put some round bin inside dust box, and than some elbow at the end of outlet. So the dust will circle and set at the bottom. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the tips. I'll try to modify the shield first, see if I can improve on that! If doesn't work then I just make separator like the one you said, but externally and turn it into a two stage collector. 👍

Boa noite. E como seria o processo de troca ou limpeza dos filtros, uma vez que está tudo pinado e siliconado? Faria-se novos filtros da mesma forma como feito na 1a vez? A saída do coletor fica aberta para exaustão do ar? Dado o like e feita a inscrição. Gostei muito da tua idéia.

Thank you. I made the filters myself using micro fibre cloth. They seems to do the job!
That design puts a lot of constrain on the motor and gives you very low suction efficiency. I built one with the blower connected to a polyester filter bag and use it suck paper dust from my folder gluer machine.
Nice work mate! Which table saw is that? i'm asking because i have some trouble finding one similar in europe ... im using an mtl100 from waaaay too long :)

This is an easier build than making your own propeller. What's the HP on the motor?
400w so around 1/2 HP
I see that you are using a tape to set your table saw, is the ripping scale not accurate or is there not one?
There is a scale, but because the way is the clamping works, and because of the fence has a little side play just not accurate enough. You can actually clamp it out of alignment, so I rather check it with tape measure.
If you had place the suction hole in the center you might find it had a more even flow.
