My Honda is running like a dream and I saved so much money doing it myself with better spark plugs than what the mechanic was using. Thank you!
Nice job!!!
It’s people like you that make the world a better place
Yuppp u got so much more comming all detailed will help lot of people
Thanks so much for all your tips this is my first car and I’m learning how to do all the maintenance on it, never done plugs on a car but you made it easy! Thank you
Oh yeah I got alll the videos even if they diffrent car works the same similar!!
Thank you! I was able to follow this video easily to change my first set of spark plugs ever
Good job
Nice job. I assumed the rear bank was a lot harder to access but watching your video I realize it's not that bad. Thanks for posting.
Yeah not so bad tho
Thank you very much. I’m doing my spark plugs this weekend on my 16 Accord. Your video saved me a lot of money. My dealer wants $500 to do this job.
It would probably be a good idea to first use compressed air to blow away any dirt and debris so that it doesn’t fall into the engine e we hen the plugs are out.
Oh ok cool yeah update me how it went
@@RBTheMechanic Will do!
@@RBTheMechanic Got out early this morning before the heat arrives and got on my spark plug job. It was just as easy as your video showed. It did take me about 45 minutes but that included going back and forth to the garage a couple of times for tools. I took it out for a test drive and felt a major difference. My power is back! Thanks for the great and helpful video! You saved me close to $400!!!!
@@robertwinfree3197 nice good job!!!
Thanks for the video, I'm deciding if I'm going to do this for my sister. and now I think I can
Yup should be easy
This is a great video to say the least. Most videos on this model Honda Accord have almost no maintenance videos on it. I know a lot of people bought the online-4 cylinder version.
But the V6 is smoother, have crazy torque, has a muscular sound, have good fuel economy, & as smooth as butter compared to the four-banger. I’d love to see a valve cover gasket replacement on one of these.
Bro I’m drying for customer to come in with that valve cover job no one seems to want to do it but when ever I get it I will do detailed video I done few of those before I had this channel too bad I didn’t record back then but very soon I will do video on it
@@RBTheMechanic Yes indeed, I can’t wait for that video! Reason being is that I know how to work on the Honda/Acura J-series V6 design for the most part. But since after the model year 2012 V6 Accords Honda made some changes to with the valve covers. They seems to be using plastics for some parts.
@@MrSamPhoenix yeah I like my old valve covers it’s all about cheap parts and more cost of vehicle
@liberatodetailing I have this car lol go look at my j build
@@NATURALGAMINGanything crazy you done to the car? need some inspiration for this model i just recently got. my first car ever and i was lowkey regretting not spending the money i spent to get it on something else like a rwd. found out fwd takes corners nice too but i want to take my basic stock v6 accord to the next level
This guy is the best 🙏🏼
Thank you.
Thank you!!
“Someone like me this will take 20 minutes, but you, more like 40 minutes”
Funny af 🤣
Yup take ur time
@@RBTheMechanic I might buy this year make and model… was curious how hard it was to get to those rear plugs… looks pretty east though. Appreciate the video man 👍
@@MartinDorphins yeah it’s simple this is v6
Thanks for the video! It helped a bunch 🙏🏻
Welcome
You the best teacher
Thank you!!
Good clip, but Honda does recommend the use of anti-seize compound on the plug threads.
Yuppp add that to details bro!!! I do that all new videos more detailed. Some time it’s on customer they bring u parts and that’s it expect u to do it raw
Bada bing bada boom. A good ending to a good repair.
Yup bang Zoom!
I have an 07 honda accord v6 I had my valve cover gasket replaced and the following day I got po158 any suggestions
The oxygen sensor right on top by radiator is faulty maybe it’s not related to the repair and just happned it came on recently I would reset the light and if it comes back on. The start by replacing the sensor
Was wondering if there was any spacing of the spark plugs on this engine, or if i can just swap em out like you did here
Yeah sorry for late reply I though I sent message back anyways u can compair it to old one. Other wise get a tool it’s about .040 inch
What length is the shorter extension that you used for the rear plug?
I’m not sure I might have mentioned it like 2 “
Thank you, these countless videos for the 4 cyl but none for the v6. What size socket do you need for the spark plugs?
5/8 socket size
So I just recently had to do an emergency change of my spark plus, my engine started to miss fire 2.5 hours into the middle of nowhere, on Christmas. Luckily, I keep enough spare tools/parts in my pilot. But the last few days, I've been getting a buring acric smell coming from the Vents whenever I have the air on. Any clue what might be causing it?? My car isn't misfiring and overheating/smoking, and my MPG has actually been very good for the time of year. I haven't had time to go back into the engine and get a good look, with End of the Year work obligations. Any advice would be much appreciated.
How many miles dose ur engine has on it? And misfire I would swap coil and plug from that cylinder to another cylinder to see if it switches spots of misfire and about the smell I would check cabin filter and if there’s anything leaking around engine bay
@RBTheMechanic my engine just got 166700, and the plug was definitely the culprit. It had no gap left on it. I'll definitely take a look at the filter tomorrow. Thank you for the advice.
@@tylerrushford7609 oh ok cool
Glad to see it’s that easy. Honda dealer wants $500 to do that job!
Yup take ur time taking out and catching the threads back and torque it ur all set
Doesn't dropping the sparkplugs like that cause them to get damaged, or ruin the spacing?
I didn’t drop I slip them in softly
Thanks
Welcome!!!
Thank you sir
Welcome
Should I disconnect the battery before removing the sparkplugs?
You don’t need to just have the key out of IGNITION
Why do you use Honda brand spark plugs? When they're three times a price versus just buying NGK iridium from auto store
Customer requested or got it
I heard the Honda ones work the best in the v6. I replaced mine with Del and let’s just say her performance isn’t the same. I might be replacing them with Honda ones
@@OxygenbaeNGK plugs are the same ones that Honda uses. Except honda puts them in a different box (HONDA) and charges more for them.
You don’t put anti seaze on the new spark plug?
Nope not needed new stuff coated
Hi bro I have 2019 honda accord I change oli pan where your shop location and how much cost
I have to find out the cost. Give me vin number I can find out tomorrow how ever I’m up north nj.
bada bing bada boom!
I don’t have a torque wrench. Do I need to have one of these to replace my spark plugs?
I would get it cuz plugs have to be correctly tight some people have strong arm and they can brake the plugs
@👍💥RBTheMechanic
What is the part number for the spark plug ty.
Sorry I don’t know the information of spark plug part number I think I do show it in the video
What size socket is needed for the plugs?
I show in video I think it’s 14mm
@@RBTheMechanic hey, thanks for the reply. You do show it in the video. However, the audio cuts out so you can't hear the size.
What is the mileage replacement for the spark plugs?
I would do it every 60k miles
What tools and sizes do need for this? I know you stated them in the video but i want to make sure I have the right stuff. Where is the best place to get them? I am relatively new to cars and don’t want to mess up!! I appreciate it 🙏
Well I’m not sure I think it was 14mm
How important Is the torque spec I don’t have a tool like that
Well it’s important but if u can right then well and not snap a plug then it’s cool
What was the mileage at when you changed?
Not sure but over 80k
Honda recommends at 105k for this model.
Did you say 16 or 60 for torque wrench?
16
@@RBTheMechanic thanks bro!
I have a 2009 honda accord v6. I was told torque specs are 13lbs. Your thoughts?
How much did you charge for this job? Honda wants $400 from me 😵
U can do this parts are like $80 if u get original $120. But ur local mechanic can do this for $140
The only part of the video I wanted to see was if you needed to use different tools for the rear because of the lack of access. I'll assume it's fine.
Yeah
How many miles should I replace the spark plugs?
Every 60k miles!!
@@RBTheMechanic Thank you very much. Your video was explained well. Thank you for sharing.
@@marting.7564 u welcome glad video was useful!!
When I do mine I'll start from the back 1st 😅😅😅
Yup get those outta the way first
No hate, but where is the anti-seize??
Not recommended if u but some good quality plugs but u can always add
News flash, OEM spark plug cost more than just buying NGK that makes it….
You didn’t torque the rears lol JK
great video man
Lol thanks
16 lb? Other videos say 13 lbs
I did 16 according to my data
RB is right, it is 100% 16ft lbs on the v6 accords. I saw the specs on the blueprint myself at Honda.
@@DrDonster yeah I was confused after people started to talk about it but that’s what I always got on my data
Was wondering if there was any spacing of the spark plugs on this engine, or if i can just swap em out like you did here
Yeah .044 of inch if u need to but compair it to old one it should be somthing similar other wise u need gapping tool
Most plugs nowadays will come pre-gapped they will tell you if they are or not but you should always check the Gap because the wrong Gap will ruin your engine.
