    Have owned a few Accords and agree that the ‘16-‘17 are the best style of any Accord. I own a ‘17 Touring V6. Fantastic engine…last of the smooth, great sounding Accord V6s. 73k miles and miraculously no warped rotors and still on original pads with some decent life left. Had both LED headlights replaced due to DRL issue plus a new infotainment head unit early on after purchasing. Easily gets 33-37 mpg on hwy. Looks like your example is a Touring version but it doesn’t have the LED headlights. Worst aspects for me include poor backup camera quality - especially at night - and just an ok stereo sound for a top trim version. Next to my S2K, my favorite Honda I’ve ever owned! Great insight into the concern areas.

    • @FourTheWheels
      @FourTheWheels Рік тому +6

      The ‘16-‘17 Sports and Tourings with the 19” wheels came with larger brakes. Is the warping issue more with the other trim versions with the smaller brakes?

    • @BCautosolutions
      @BCautosolutions  Рік тому +6

      Appreciate your input and insight. Great to hear you’ve had a good overall experience. So anything you have increased rotor mass that will help eliminate the warping scenario. Also driving habits have a ton to do with it too. Here in my area there’s a lot of aggressive drivers with lots of stop and go driving conditions with contribute to increased rotor temps.

      I think the 2-13-2015 accord looks better than the 16-17, because of things like less chrome bits on the exterior and jewel headlights, plus less gloss black in the interior plus physical controls, but thats my imo

      He must have EX-L V6 then as the Touring came with the LEDs (no option to not have them, as they're the superior light). The EX-L V would've also had the smaller brakes as the Sport and Touring are the only ones with the 19" wheels that came with the bigger brakes.

    I have owned a 2015 Honda Accord EX-L V6 Coupe with the 6 speed automatic transmission for 9 years now. I have accumulated 98,250 miles in that time and my experience is as follows:
    Rotors warped and were re surfaced under warranty but that just prolonged the inevitable. I replaced all rotors and pads at 35k. I was lucky that the local dealer honored a tsb on the battery and starter right before i hit 36k on the warranty and replaced both for free. I do all my own meticulous maintenance and change my oil and filter every 5k with Full Synthetic 0w20. I do my engine air filter every 15k and cabin filter once a year. My coolant was flushed at 60k and again when i had my timing belt, water pump, timing belt tensioner, and serpentine belt done at 97,500. I drained and filled my transmission fluid every 20k and ive done it 5 times with honda fluid. I currently am on my second set of replacement brake pads and rotors. My first replacements lasted 55k. 4 sets of tires and i run a BG44k Complete Fuel System cleaner every oul change. Spark plugs done at 97,750! My car runs sounds amd feels like she did when i drover her off the lot. Shes been paid for for 7 years and im keeping her for another 9. I believe ive put in the time and effort to do so. Oh snd she gets hand washed only by me 60-70 times a year and waxed several times a month! Only use Top Tier Gasoline. Exxon Mobil is my favorite! ZERO ISSUES WHATSOEVER!

      Sounds like you truly know your car and the 2015 platform. I have a question. At about 3k RPM my 2015 SEDAN has a throaty rumble to her, and sometimes will literally shake. It also will do it if there's a load on her, up hill, or down hill. I've been told by the dealer and where I purchased the car that this is normal. I am the second owner, and she has about 90k on her. Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance, CHEERS.

      @@christopheryslas it’s the v6 correct? Most likely a trans judder. Pull out your trans dipstick, if it’s not red, I would do a 3x trans flush and hope it’s not too late. I have a video on that I believe I did it in an odyssey or a pilot. It’s the same procedure.

    Honestly the biggest problem I have found with both used Toyotas and Hondas are…the previous owners. People think somehow you can just drive these cars without proper maintenance or that they can abuse it (drive roughly, brake hard, sudden acceleration, etc.) and somehow they’ll keep driving.
    I’ve had a lot of experience looking for used Hondas/Toyotas. A significant majority of the issues he points out in this video are likely a result of abusive drivers. In particular, V6 Hondas seem to receive the most abuse (especially TL’s) from owners which can lead to premature timing belt failure as he mentioned in the video and hosts of others issues. Don’t rough house your car, maintain it well, and you’ll be okay.

    • @randyjackson347

      The owners do seem to dog out the Honda Accord V6 more so. I hear about more reliability problems and oil leaks.

    • @BCautosolutions
      @BCautosolutions  Рік тому +8

      This is very true, a ton of people have the “it’s a Honda/Toyota mentality and it’ll run forever” and neglect maintenance which is a huge mistake that can lead to some issues. The timing belt tensioners are failing across the whole j series lineup which is just a bad design and not from abuse. The transmission judder also another bad design im which the fluid simply just burns up too quickly but brings me back to my lack of maintenance point. Thanks for watching and appreciate your input 👍🏻

    Hello, Great video!!! I bought my 2017 EXL used, and love this car!!! Ones loss, was this guys gain!!! It was everything I wanted in a car! I have had a few of the issues you have explaned in your video Like the: Tenioner, front rotors, head light, plus the main head unit for the GPS went out. The issues started coming up around the 50,000 mile mark with the tenioner knocking and the GPS head unit going out along with the driver side head lamp. The front rotors issue started around the 90,000 mile mark. But even with all this, I wouldn't sell or trade this car in for nothing!!!! I just love the power and ride of this car!
    But as another note, I also had an issue with the battery. When the battery was not bad but maybe getting old, or if I didn't drive the car for a week or so. Shortly after starting the car, I was getting a lot of issue with the on board computer giving me all kinds of warnings!! I would have to stop the car and wait a min or so and restart and then everything would be ok.
    I took it in, and no one could find out what was wrong. Everything would check out, and the dealer couldn't find anything wrong. I'm not sure where I saw or read about low volt issues messing with the computer systems. So even tho the battery checked out ok, I just took it apon myself to just replace the battery and see what happens. And just like that, all the issues went away.

If you're mechanicaly inclined change your PCV System to run -1 to -3inHg instead of -2 to -6inH2O Hot/Idle. The system is too weak ro function properly. I went with an external PCV Valve from a Chevrolet V8 and an external Catch Can, .125 restriction on the Fresh Air side of the system and it works. This problem causes the rings to stick and the engine to burn oil.

    One thing to also mention is that the transmission fluid is very different for the 3.5L 6AT vs the 2.4L CVT, totally different colours. So when you sign off on the order to get it changed, make sure you double check that they are using the correct one. I've had dealers almost mix this up on more than one occasion.

    Thank you for this! The fact that you're providing this free content makes me trust your word bc I'm not worried about you trying to upsell. Could you please help me with the following: (I'm at 115k miles)
    1) Can I get your take on when I should be getting a valve adjustment and spark plugs for this model?
    2) I got a quote for the timing belt and water pump - but no mention of the oil pump . Were you also referring to the water pump in your video? If not, should I have them include the oil pump?
    3) Does the timing belt kit usually include the cam shaft seal and crank shaft seal? If not, do you recommend adding it on? What about the drive belt and serpentine belt - should they be added along?

    • @BCautosolutions
      @BCautosolutions  Рік тому +1

      Spark plugs 90k, valve adjustment wouldn’t be a bad idea considering your mileage although not super urgent either.
      The oil pump only needs to be addressed if it’s leaking. It’s the right time to do it then, if there’s no signs of any oil leaking from it, then it’s ok to just do the timing belt, belt, water pump, and tensioner.
      No cam or crank seals and I have not seen any leak on the j series so I wouldn’t go changing those either.
      Hope this helps

    Hi, thank you for these great videos. I have a 2014 and 2016 EX-L V6 Accord sedans. The 2014 with 86k miles all the dash ABS LDW, LCW, tire inflation lights come on, and Failed FCW system flashing in the center dash window. The dealer found code 81-20, U0416-68, and said I needed to replace the whole ABS module, the part cost $1200 + installation. Searching on UA-cam this appears to be another common problem and Honda has no recall. Any suggestion? any options besides replacing the ABS module?.
    I show on UA-cam a few mechanics talk about just taking off the black box and sending out for repair of the wire connector that breaks because they are so thin and have them soldered back on.
    Of course will get the new starter they said I need valve covers done, reseal bolts are leaking, and recommend a timing belt kit so total of about $5000.

    You touched on the starter issues for 2013-2015 V6 Accords. AKA the starter grinding sound. IMO this issue is a dealbreaker. Honda had a "fix" for this issue, see TSB 16-002. Many have reported that the issue comes back in a matter of weeks. That is my experience. Honda did not do a recall, so if this happens out of warranty, you may need to buy a new starter every few months.

    Install a Magnefine trans filter (throw the stock filter in the trash can) and you can easily get 50k miles out of your trans fluid. Do a full flush not a half baked multiple pan drop. There are still places that do it. Stoptech rotors and quick struts are the only other major maintenance items for me in 85k miles. Change oil every 5k. Runs like a top but paint is thin

    What's the price to replace the timing belt ?

  • @serlaws
    @serlaws 7 місяців тому +2

    Toyota 3.5 V6 > Honda 3.5 V6. The 3.5 V6 Toyota has a timing Chain which nearly never fails. The timing belt breaks on the Honda = an engine rebuild.

    • @BCautosolutions
      @BCautosolutions  7 місяців тому

      Yeah well they don’t break if you replace them in time. On the flip side when people follow these extended oil change intervals the chains stretch which is a lot more labor intensive.

    • @serlaws
      @serlaws 7 місяців тому +1

      @@BCautosolutions I bet you over 1/2 of Honda owners won't know anything about a $1000 timing belt service needed until a mechanic mentions it to them. Then they'll think they are being ripped off since they may think it's like a serpentine belt service.😄 There are MANY Honda V6 vehicles for sale where the timing belt is way overdue and you have to get the service done as soon as you buy it used or continue to roll the dice and not change it.
