The directions for nexium don’t state u need to take them before meals, they states take it on empty stomach is fine. So I’ve seen other people say take it before meals or makes sense and it’s then that it will work. So frustrating……

    Thank you for this. I've been recommended these products by my doc. My reflux is so bad now, that I'm desperate to try something new. I've been told Omeprazole is really bad long term, which is what I am taking. I just want something to heal my stomach so I can go back to normal and not need these. IN the meantime, I literally can't eat anything without feeling sick anymore, so I'm looking at my options while I try to incorporate a healthier diet.

    • @AdamSzarmack
      @AdamSzarmack 3 роки тому +2

      Hi there. Do you have any of those other pre-existing conditions he talked about outside of just the reflux? If not, and all you have is straight reflux and your Doc put you on omeprazole, I would encourage you to consider NOT using it before you get too far along. I just posted a video about my journey with how I finally healed from a 12 month bout with reflux. I was on omeprazole for 7 months before I finally figured out that it was actually keeping me sick. Once I got off of it, THAT is when I actually started to improve. If you're interested you can go to my channel and watch the video. Sorry don't mean to stick my nose in your business. It's just that, after how miserable omeprazole made my life the way it did, it's very hard for me to watch people take it and I stand by and not say something.

      Though it may sound contradictory, low stomach acid can cause acid reflux. PPIs make the problem worse in the future. There are studies that show most people with acid reflux have low acid. You can try taking hydrochloric acid pills from the health food store. They worked the 2nd day I took them and stopped the pain.

I had Nissen Fundoplication surgery that, while it helped with my minor tumours, hietal hernia and severe GERD, and he made sure to fix the issue of the valve not working, too. But, my Gastrparesis, itself, and IBS are getting worse, and some GERD symptoms are back despite a strict and extremely healthy diet. @@bassboostedpony7043 i’m so sorry! is yours acid reflux or silent reflux?
      whatever you do, never take PPIs. they made everything 100x worse for me. (after i stopped taking them)
      what you need to do is find out why you’re having the reflux in the first place. as counterintuitive as this may sound, it could be because of low stomach acid. you need to go to a GI specialist for them to rule out any underlying problems that could be causing it.
      i have an appointment on September 1 to check for my stomach acid, until then i’m taking a supplement with alginic acid (unlike PPIs, alginic acid doesn’t interfere with the acid in your stomach, it just forms a barrier after your meal so that no matter what you eat it can’t go up into your esophagus, basically protecting you from the reflux) it has worked wonderfully for me. i’m also taking melatonin 3mg before bed bc i read a paper that it helps the stomach acid stay in place.
      since it’s only been a month for you, don’t worry, at all, you can manage it 💜 and you will be okay!
      it could be something psychological that is causing it like stress, so pay attention to that as well.
      let me know if you have any questions 💜💜💜

      my advice is not to to rush with the PPIs please! if i could go back and not take them i would, not to scare you or anything, but just because now i know there’s a less risky alternative for them! PPIs don’t stop the reflux, they just reduce the acidity, the reflux is still happening only with less acidity.
      when i stopped them my symptoms got so bad that i got regurgitation that burned my throat and i couldn’t talk for a few weeks... i’m not saying this will happen to you, but why risk it....i genuinely wouldn’t want anyone to go through what i went through.
      again first thing you need to do is figure out why it’s happening in the first place, which starts with a GI specialist, he can do some tests to figure out what it is just to know what is actually the problem, because if it’s low acidity that is causing it they might prescribe you HCl supplements and other things. my main point is not to rush with the medications.
      and of course! i’m here with you! don’t worry! i’ll keep you updated with any progress on this.
      you can contact me anytime about anything 💜

The ChromograninA hormone level in my blood was almost 4,000 ( normal is 35-ish). That result is indicative of very rare neuroendocrine tumors...after an Octreotide Scan showed no tumors I was taken off Omeperazole and the hormone level returned to normal. These drugs are risky.

When I went to my doctor I did not want to take any medicine for it because of my own personal reasons but I did get some good advice. I drunk a lot of 'ginger & probiotics tea' which rly helped and I still drink it still today. Changing my diet has been a big help. It slowly but surely started going away after that and now it is easier to manage. I would suggest staying away from too much diary also because it creates mucus build up and will make things worse. ALSO, I am not a Doctor and everybody's body is different, I can only tell you what helped me. I heard that the ginger tea doesn't help for some ppl or may even make it worse but it has helped me, so I don't know how your body would react to it but I can only say to try and I hope it does work. But trust me when I say that changing your diet has helped me a lot and many others and will definitely most likely help you.
