i mean honestly. game like this just cap ur cpu at 30-60 fps... for the game. anything more is just waste of power and burning up ur pc for nothing... the only games fps really matters in any meaningful way is fps games.... i sure dark souls style lol. but pve stuff honestly lol just run smooth drop the crazy fps. ur eyes can only see around 60-100 anyway slol why people run stuff over 100 is baffles me. as if they could tell the difference
I agree with the spiritualism point. I feel like something is missing in Medieval Dynasty without it. As a fan of Kingdom Come Deliverance, I hope they add something. Maybe just having a small monestary or perish would be enough.
I like this assessment. I have both games and have really enjoed the designing and customization in Medieval dynasty. ( I drop a lot of items to place everywhere) but even though I can't do that as easily in Sengoku I am a fan of the indoor customization more in that game. Really hoping MD catches up on that front
I just love medieval Dynasty so much myself but I know others like Sengoku. Would like to see Churches and the like enter MD as that could be a neat way to section off some villages. (one of a religion and another of a different, or some social structure of sorts added. Some of the voice lines are goofy in MD but still a great game.
Great video, full watch from me! I have both games and just started covering Sengoku myself on my channel again after the full release. I appreciate your comparisons between the two and agree on most accounts. The only thing I disagree on is I think the environment in Sengoku just looks beautiful, where as Medieval has more of a bland look. Just my opinion though!
I feel like this video was intentionally made right before the update 😂 Edit: Not really, though, but maybe should've waited until there actually is some kind of combat i Medieval.
I've played the new combat in Medieval Dynasty beta 😬 My opinion hasn't changed much unfortunately. I do really like all the new armor and weapons tho! Also lot of quality of life changes coming
@@SirJayWalker hmm kinda scares me with the QOL is it worth it. Hope it at least brings some more popularity as the game is already great for those who play it.
I think both games are fun in their current state, but both would also benefit from major improvements. I love these types of games and one day it'd be really nice to see all of these small devs bands together and make one large, complete game. Too much to hope for, I know, but a guy can dream.
Fantastic and thorough analysis, @SirJay. I agree with many of your points, and feel like that Dev team on MD has gone the wrong direction with the forthcoming update, based on what seems to be the majority of players' desire (don't really increase the combat aspect of the game). I completely agree that MD could improve their Skill development tree which would increase specialization and stretch out the upgrade time (Production alone should have five distinct lines for Hand-Crafting, Woodworking, Cooking, Sewing, and Smithing - and some of those could have sub-categories.). Also, I think it's worth taking a look at other period games (Farthest Frontier) to improve realism aspects of the game and to provide purpose to under-utilized elements in MD (food spoilage being almost 2 years, for example. Meat along should perish after a couple of seasons - unless it's dried, smoked, or salted... And THUS there would be a REASON to gather salt from the mines). Plus I've long been an advocate for incorporating Filth, Disease, and Pestilence in MD like you see in FF. This would give more reason to staff the Herbalist's Hut and make potions, create the need for a village doctor/healer (and supporting structure - which is already IN the game with the Sick House on Oxbow), and job positions like nightsoil collector to scoop the poop and improve villager happiness/reduce pestilence/disease. Shared... and I hope a lot of people watch this! Great job!
Right now, i would say Sengoku Dynasty is better then Medieval Dynasty, but whit an update for Medieval Dynasty rjght around the corner, i think we have to wait to further comparision. But as always, good video SirJay Props from Portugal 🇵🇹🍻 PS: for some reason, i only saw your video now, UA-cam algorithm at is finest...
If UI and Performance were improved, character models were more appealing, and the Dynasty System was complete, I would say Sengoku is a better game. Its probably going to take some time though 😅
I'm holding back on buying Sengoku Dynasty until the performance and character models improve. Hope it will be soon since I'm really itching to play it!
Sengoky artstyle brings me flashbacks of bellwright , and that game looks like its made out of plastic and clay, Medieval Dynasty is just a ez win for me in terms of art style , however , the skill tree in Medieval is just borderline stupid (imho) I mean , some of the skills are just straight up killing a whole branch of mechanics like the temperature skill in the survival tree straight up deleting the need of better clothes in winter or in summer , and the stacking stamina consumption stuff where you have the skill for -30% stamina consumption and you have the beverages that have -80% total stamina consumption and you basically transform your character in to a marathon runner that has infinite stamina and the list can go on longer , but I still love Medieval Dynasty more than Sengoku , it might be that it runs smoother than Sengoku that's why I enjoy it more , or that I hated bellwright so much that it impacts Sengoku that has the same artstyle too :D
the thing about the combat in medieval dynasty that i like is that 1 hit can kill you, i dont like those tanky games where if you mess up its just like -10 health
Gotta come back to combat after 27th when weapons are introduced, It will still be "less" but then again. Medieval Dynasty gains it's beauty from simplicity.
I can see Sengoku becoming the better game over time, but the frequent crashes are too big an issue for me. When they fix those issues, they've got an all-time classic on their hands.
Sengoku dynasty has a ton of glitches at the moment, so I'm def like MD much more right now. SD has this glitch that loses my items when transferring to storage.
Sengoku is much newer. Medieval has a three year head start on Sengoku, and wasn't feature complete or fully polished on launch either. Sengoku isn't fully feature complete yet either, it's missing the "Dynasty" bit (have a kid, and take over the Dynasty through him) though it is planned to be in the game. Medieval is better, but that's largely because it's had more time to cook. I suspect Sengoku will make some progress on your frustrations over the next few years and that this comparison will be much closer in that time. EDIT:: HA, you made this point at the end of your video. Kudos.
Sengoku is a good game, but needs optimization...I have 10 fps in populated areas no matter what video settings I use, low, mid, high... and my video card is stuck at 30% usage
sengoku still uses unreal engine 4? yeh that's gonna be a major diff in improvement. i been messing with unreal editor = projects from unreal 4 that used to take maybe even 5-10 minutes to open and compile now take less than 60 seconds on unreal engine 5. unreal engine 5 just runs smoother and not to mention looks nicer. but sigh. i have played medieval dynasty, played it coop with friends. haven't got the other one. medieval = it's smelly and boring. and i HATE HATE HATE the tax system lol. taxes should be paid when a TAX COLLECTOR comes around, and i should be able to decline his request, then get raided by the king. there's nothing to do but fight bandits and hunt dumb animals, and the map is tiny, there's 0 towns or cities besides the starting (small) one, the other little 'settlements' are jokes. but having to constantly grind for coin to pay for taxes and ALSO the stupid upgrade skill tree also needing coin that was just TRASH, i mean you couldn't just run off and be independant, you needed to grind for coin, to either learn things or get the dumb invisible tax man off your back. i don't even really give a f about japanese stuff or understand it (and detest those creepy cartoons) but that looks far more exciting than medieval, at least yeh absolutely better building/deco system, especially in buildings etc..
It looks like you meet the minimum requirements, but its hard to say without trying. I have a 4070-S / i7-11700F / 32 RAM, and i was still having frame problems in some areas. Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system OS: Windows 10 (x64) Processor: Intel Core i5-8400, AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Memory: 12 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, 4 GB or AMD Radeon RX 570, 4 GB or Intel Arc A750, 8 GB DirectX: Version 12 Storage: 15 GB available space Additional Notes: Low 720p @ 30 FPS
@SirJayWalker thing I always tell people with any Mount and Blade game is to play the mods. The base game is ok, but the modding community makes it shine. Bellwright has a similar combat system...I am hoping that game keeps getting worked on because I think it could be better than Medieval Dynasty...depending on Medieval Dynasty expands it's combat. Right now, I'd say Medieval Dynasty is a better game, but it needs more combat challenge.
And also Bellwrights combat needs tweaks, such as enemy should be able to destroy fences. I solo defended every raid by building a fence triangle and shooting said raid to death. I hope all these games do well because I love this genre.
"Is Sengoku Dynasty BETTER Than Medieval Dynasty?" 100% better. i just got both last week. and MD looks too much loke Skyrim (15+ years old) and the map is not as pretty as SD. SD is so easy to learn for a new player, MD so confusing. Like you said, MD is 4 years old SD 1. To give SD a fair review, you should not play MD the next 3 years, don't do any updates when you play it in 3 years and then compare them! ;-) But hey, you are bias towards MD, so that is that. :-) Thx for the vids you make, and a like for me!
But honestly the run smoother part is the biggest deal breaker in these type of games.
It's the skill points for me

Yes and no :D I mean Wild West Dynasty Is just a flop :D i don't know why they even opted to include that game in to Dynasty franchise :D

Glad it was helpful! 🙂
An Dong because his name has dong in it killed me! Great review of both games!
Excellent video. It would be so cool if both studios merged and made a new game together.

I love medieval dynasty but the combat in that game is so horrible to the point that not using ranged weapons will drive you insane in the long run.
The character creator in Sengoku is so bad. They really said "all Asians look the same so no need for more than 3 options for anything"
I prefer medieval dynasty because it's the only one on xbox 😅
Europe historically can’t compare to Asia and or the Middle East so why should gameplay get expired by those historical events
medieval needs to be reworked. i put in so many hours but put the game down because of the garbage way in which you unlock technology. way too grindy.
I can't stand souls like combat...too arcade. Bannerlord has the best melee combat system...any medieval game should be directional combat.
