- One of my students needed help to decide between these two Ibanez guitars. Meinl was nice enough to send both of them over so that we can have a look.

Ibanez, the only guitar company that names their guitars like Gundam Mecha Robots!
Hahahaha!!! 10/10.
Yeah but I like the RG745ODNRJFIDL-JKR model ! Sounds great !
u made my day!
um they all do that
I love my Ibanez ARZ200EX-BKF \m/
This girl is SWEET.
I really enjoy that you have someone else in your videos, it gives a 'man on the street' vibe with no-nonsense commentary. A+ (also takes attention away from your very shiny head)
+Ayerst.net
No-nonsense?
If you hadn't mentioned the shiny head I would've thought you watched someone else ; )
+DerEchteBold I am of course being silly - the no-nonsense refers to his students, who broadly seem to challenge expectations (see the Klon video posted a few days ago)
+Ayerst.net
Sorry, I'm being silly as well.
All the Best
I have played and owned quite a few sub $1000 guitars and Ibanez beats them all in quality for the money! Just ordered the Ibanez RGAT62 in sapphire blue with DiMarzio Tone Zone and Air Norton pickups. Looks like the one in this video. I really enjoy your videos! Keep up the good work!
I have both. An RGIR28FE and a Premium RG827Z.
They're both very well made, from the Indonesia factory.
The Premium has slightly better fabrication. The frets on the Premium are edge rounded, the Iron Label are not.
The Premium feels a bit more flexible as an instrument. You can get more voicings out of it.
The Iron Label comes with EMG pickups which are pretty monotone. Also the fact that you rely on a 9V battery is a major minus point. The little contact tongue is not good quality. I had to put a new one in because the wire contacts ripped after changing the battery. Passive pickups are just easier to live with.
I have a schecter with emgs and find them to be somewhat flat and predictable
I was getting nervous about the girl's face being smashed with the headstock!😀😀😀
I love that Ibanez premium 😍
I have the same blue Iron label Ibanez. Sound is very crisp and clear. Very good guitar. I've played the premium model, also nice for metal.
I don't know if anyone has already said this, but here goes. The Iron Label is technically below the Premium in terms of their construction and the overall series itself in the list of products. However in the case of this video, the reason why it cost a lot more than the Premium is that because at the time of it's original release, the RGIT20FE was to be a special limited model, since the other Iron Label models prior to it had different (and more "standard") construction material, which makes this particular guitar special. But not anymore though, apparently now they will be producing the RGIT20FE as a standard product now.
So did you do a follow up? I couldn't find it. Which guitar did he go with?
I have 2 Ibanez guitars a S370DX and RG4EXQM only issues I have had is getting the floating trems to wet right but once you get them set up I have have no issues. Really digging the premium one in the video.
I'm going to pull the trigger on the S series premium which has everything I want including the cool trem, stainless jumbo frets and HSH dimarzio pickups.. The glow in the dark side dots help as well ..plus they are cool looking and lightweight..
Great video. Do you mind sharing what camera(s) you used to film? They made the guitars look great.
we need more Ibanez! And it would be nice to hear more unpluged guitar sound for fretbuz etc.
when you changed the cam angle to the other side of ur room at 35:21, i was "wow! u have a lot of toys man!"
Hello Hanning,
You did a review of the Jackson SL2Q as well. Would you be so kind to tell me how you think the Ibanez Premum compares to the Jackson?
Thank you
NIIIICE Henning, make scratches in that new guitar with your knife @ 21.40-something.
Lol.
Question for you: I, too, like soft cases and also high-quality highly padded gig bags. I only own four guitars, and I have a case/bag for each. What about you? You must have 30 or so guitars. Do you purchase individual bags/cases for each or keep only a select few around to cover all your needs? The cases and bags take up space, that's for sure.
Ooh... Ibanez and Kiana... what an unexpected combination that works really well.
I think I've pretty much decided I'll be getting my first Ibanez this year at some point.
I want a lightweight one so was thinking an "S" range but you said the first one felt light, how light do you reckon Henning?
I have an Ibanez RG6003FM, it was maybe $350, and it weighs less than 7 lbs. I had the pickups replaced with a Seymour Duncan 59 in the neck and a Dimebucker in the bridge, and had a push/pull coil split tone knob installed, and after a professional setup, this guitar is amazing!
just test this guitar ibáñez blue model in the center guitar - yesterday - and I liked it
Guitars aside (they are fantastic), but I REALLY like those stands.
Great video and it was nice to show some of your students on the review and let them to choose or interact with diferent Ibanez kind (or class) of guitars, but the first lesson that you have to teach to him is a "gentlemen", if you're late to the meeting and there is no chair, FIND ONE. How is posible that solution is sit her on the flor? Probably you want to get a test drive to both guitar, well WAKE UP EARLY, dude. Education first here, teach it to a young kid and you will make a better man in the future.
The review was so deep that I love how you unbox and show both guitars out of the box. The premium with case, definetly is a A+ point, but there is something about de PUPS (PickUps) that you didn't explain. The Pasive/Ceramic or Active/Alnico can play an interesting part of the price. A Premium Class Ibanez for a beginner or intermediate about €799 (US$ 899) with CAP Passive PUps (NO DiMarzio or Seymour Duncan) or a Iron Label kind in about €1100 (US$ 1200) is too much for Active PUps, Locking tunners (GOTOH), Gibraltar Bridge and No case included. Probably the PUps are factor of the price increase.
Looked like Kiana's blood froze at the "sex machine" bit HAhahah.
she's adorable.
Does he still have the head of the staff imprint burned into his palm from that bar fight in Tibet?
i've never had an ibanez fight me...even the cheapest ones.....if it was properly setup.
+Mark Shields Depends on the player. Great guitars, but not my type of guitar. Not even the more expensive JEMs.
its true. different hands respond differently. I've found if i drop the action too low it will fight because I'm a bender, and a wiggler. I need to be able to get under those strings and grab the notes. that seems counter intuitive. you think the lower the easier and if it was just about pushing strings down then maybe but there's SOOOO much more to, what I think of, as great guitar playing. the trick for me is find that sweet spot when I can pull off my left handed legato technique (which is a huge part of my playing) but still get under for when i want to pull, push, bend, wiggle. If you find that spot, and have done your woodshedding, the guitar just disapears then and its just you and the music you want to make. Ibanez's in my exprience has great fret jobs. even on the rg3xx and 4xx. yea the trems suck, and the pickups are shit on those but the necks are amazing.. you set it up right....it won't fight you.
Love Ibanez!!!
Where can I buy one of those guitar stands?
They still managed an Ebony fretboard at that price point. To a dork like me that's pretty exciting.
is the ibanez rg721fm is light weight?
I really like your guitar stands, can you tell me where you got them from?
Bulldog Music gear
if you can ever get your hands on a ibanez J.custom . i would love to see ur thoughts on it
I have one , what questions might you have ?
I love my Prestige RG652FX :)
Beautiful guitar.
Too bad for the basswood body :(
@@MattyPeqWhat's wrong with basswood? 🤷♂️
So what do you recommend for metal?
sooooooo which one did he pick?
14:37 love that power cord
The problem is they slap 10-46 strings on this thing, and they do it on a 16 inch radius fretboard. It's a little much for bending.
At 36:42 when you handed the lovely Kiana the camera the grain just pops!
Ibanez be like: "This guitar is over 1000,-
YOU HAVE ENOUGH MONEY FOR A CASE!"
Every version of these models Ive played in different stores the pickup switching is awful, strange clunking/popping that comes out through the amp.
Im currently waying up the iron label with PRS Mark Holcomb.
Also that is a fantastic amp.
Kiana is such a doll. lol
she's definitely not giving up the 😼 though
Getting "404 Not Found" on all the links from Thomann. Just an FYI.
Wen überhaupt würde ich die RG721 nehmen. Ist soundtechnisch flexibler als die Iron.
Auch schon in Richtung LTD oder Dean gelinst?
Im Übrigen finde ich deine Videos recht informativ und amüsant. Weiter so...
I'm just here for the sweater.
i would replace the toggle switch for a momentary switch (with a blue led?) works much easier ;-)
I must ask @eytschpi42 were do you buy your sweaters/hoodies they're very nice and I would love to see what others they have. 😉
+Bryan Riffe It is a company called KULT... they have a website
+EytschPi42 I once tweeted the fabulously dressed Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, former President of Iran, and asked him where did he get his shirts. That dick never even replied.
You Sir have now been raised a notch in my estimation.
If I had to pick between Ibanez or fender it would probably be an Ibanez but I'm not a fan of the body style of either but both guitar are really good but just the body for me not a fan
This was a nice video and all, but as far as picking a guitar for metal, I would consider Metal-Peter's opinion as much as I would consider Donald Trump's opinion on how to style my hair...
i read this comment before he played and i thought, "he couldn't be that bad", then he played. i felt a part of me die screaming in terror and pain, the guitar was protesting every note. poor thing.
@@figjam9530 It's great that you people were great guitarists right from the start!!!
Excellent demo of the both Ibanez guitars here and funny as ever guys. Must admit the more expensive one sounded way better for my ears and you could certainly hear the differences between the both price points. Both are very nice guitars thou and depending on one's budget they both can make fine instruments.
Henning, you my friend are a genius, pure magic.
I just ordered the Ibanez Iron Label in black/grey...last week, picking it up next week sometime :) looking forward to it!
25:08 still wish Ibanez made those
Models man I’d buy like 3
nice video !
Which guitar did peter end up getting?
+radio671 the Iron Label
Does this iron label guitar worth for the money a better take a look for another guitar such as ltd ec 1000 Seymour Duncan, just need your advice
Tighter is the direct result of the EMG pickups. I switched my Ibanezes to EMGs and got the tightness I wanted.
Ew.
Can I ask what is the song at 30:48?
*_No u can't_*
With the clean setting on the iron label, it sounded more Ghost B.C., than Metallica.
pickups are Wide or standard space???
+Diego Modia I would say standard.
How did you teach her to grab the G chord!?
Bear McBride I think you meant "teach her how to grab the D" ?
Why would you have a beginner on a Guitar Review? She is cool for sure, but just curious.
Chicks = views
:)
"Luckily you're on the floor and the mics not gonna pick you up"
Sorry, it did ;)
And she's damn right :D
Twice in love ...guitar and the girl.
9.04 Holy shit that Beagle is after a bagel XD
please please review ibanez rgaix6fm
Oooo that blue one :-) I'm drooling.
Kiana!!! XXX
It's a 5 piece maple walnut.
do all premium ibanez guitars suck??? you dont seem to like the premiums but i really want the look of the rg721 but it's not in stock here so i was thinking of ordering one. but if it feels bad to play.... well... does it feel bad to play? have you tried the other premiums as well?
aravis123 premium ibanez guitar are pretty awesome for the money, all ive played have been great!
hi henning, good review.you mentioned that frets willneed to be played in.i have a ibanez rg420 ex bfk fixed bridge ,my frets needed to be played in as well, then then bending became effortless.as allways your reviews are informative and instructive.best wishes ,michael
I'd go with a used RG Prestige, Premiums are hit and miss. I own a Premium oft of the first patch which is a good player, Great fretwork. Today Premiums and Iron Labels are par in quality IMO. But anyway have a nice NGD! You can't get wrong with neither of the two guitars.
I bought an Ibanez RGAIX6FM-WFF brand new in 2016. My Gibson and Fender are seriously pissed at me! They feel like orphaned children, and plot against the Ibanez at night. BTW... I did not fast forward this video. I was mesmerized by Kiana from the first second. She's so adorable.
The guy talking was pretty annoying, but the girl is so ridiculously adorable, I was just watching her the whole time anyway
I didn't know Henning could play Beast and The Harlot
The Iron label sounded like a dumpster fire with distortion while shredding imho. The chugging was pretty not bad, but the big surprise was how glorious the cleans were.
16:43 beast and the harlot attempt? :D
it would be cool if you could get some Sterling by Music Man guitars to demo.
Diezels sound so fucking good
Nice video 😎
I love the iron label
Ibanez Premium vs Iron Label?I have a much better suggestion, buy a second hand Prestige online, you can find used Fujigen Prestige RG's for dirt cheap on e-Bay or as an alternative, used MIJ Jackson or Charvels.
MIJ>>>>>>>>> Made in Indonesia.
Oh and Kiana, don't worry,we all use to be beginners, you will get better with time. :-)
P.S.A neckthrough guitar will always sound more resonate then a bolt-on, because of the construction.
Ian Smith That's not a PRS,it's something better.A Kiesel/Carvin CT624,fully customisable US Made guitar and it costs half the price of a PRS.Check them out, great brand, very underrated.
Ian Smith They give you a ten day trial period,if you don't like the guitar, for whatever reason, send it back and they give you a complete refund. The only negative thing,if you live outside the US,you have to pay extra for VAT/Import taxes & shipping, which can vary from country to country. For example, the UK or Greece have very high VAT/Import taxes, while Luxembourg's are very low.So the price for the same guitar can have differences. But even so,their prices are very low,if you consider that we're talking about US Made custom shop instruments and you can literally customise your guitar with countless options.
Handsome beagle!
Devin townsend and steve vai?
no guitar gonna help that kids tone. but imo having a nicer guitar helps everything
die blaue isn absoluter träumsche! ^^
Feel bad for the poor guy, he has no idea, flat 9, hes like wtf is a fret
Immanuel Kant.
I d like to know If you all do reviews of Ibanez active pick ups guitars of the modern age.
Phrygian ... Locrian .... who’s counting?
She's hot, the Led Zeppelin shirt scores major points
i like the shirt of kiana
:)
it is better when you are not alone.. find another cute partner😀😀
The chics thinking are they going to tag team me soon?
17:49 HAHAHAHAHA
I cringed a little
Prestige Ibanez sind die einzigen noch in Japan gefertigten Ibanez.
Dr. Faust & Gretchen ...
The stripes i think are babinga strips if i spelled that right
Wouldn't it be better if this guy actually knew something about these guitars before he "reviews" them?
Why? You can't evaluate a guitar that is right in front of you based on what you see? What about you going tot a guitar store and taking a guitar off the wall... do you know everything about it? You can evaluate the instrument in front of you without knowing specs by heart.
@@EytschPi42 You're not going to a store.
You're recording a review for UA-cam. Learn the specs, dumbo.
James Brown.
Everything alright, except for metal-Peter. I find him a little bit irritating
