- The latest guitar to come from Ibanez Guitars' Iron Label stable is the ‘RGAIX6U’ derived from Ibanez’s RGA archtop RG series and somewhat of a unique beast compared to some of the other Iron Label guitars we’ve had at Gi over the years.

Ibanez always have the catchiest names.
Ryan Simmons lol😂
The problem with Tom doing reviews is that the guitar does not matter at all. Whatever crap guitar He plays will sound better than any good guitar in the hands of the majority of the normal players
I could listen to Tom play all day.
so good
Thank you for the review! Hope you feel better soon.
I would love to see Tom review a stupidly low budget guitar and still make it sound awesome!
AWESOME VIDEO LIKE ALWAYS TOM !!!
they say these are the guitars for metal, but looks to me those are among the most versatile instruments ibanez ever made with that coil tap thing.
Without a tone nob...... Eh
Like a tone nob is amazing when getting some jazz tones for ex.....
@@filipegomes8888 Can add one. Replace the coil split switch with a tone know, and add push/pull pots. Love this guitar, but might mod this at some point.
Could watch you play for hours Tom. Beautiful axe, love me some Ibanez, and the Indonesian factory has been on fire the past couple years!
Excellent review, Tom, and superb playing. Want to buy one of these for metal but pleasantly surprised about how many other styles you covered on it.
You play so well
Tom doing metal is something id like to see more of
sick tones, the guitar looks beautiful.
Just picked up one of these a few weeks ago and it has become one of my favorite guitars I own. Does 80's metal, and 90's death metal very well. Great neck too. Only complaint I have is that when they finished the frets they nicked the binding in several places.
Is it noisy like here lol. Buzz etc?
have to get one of these
Killer playing, dude.
Beautiful tone clean or distorted, love it :)
Beautiful Wood and Wonderful Tones 🎸💪👍
Nice guitar; great chops!
I was wondering how the fretwork was on that particular model if you recall. I just recently got mine in the mail and it’s a QC nightmare. It had insanely sharp fret ends that shredded my hands, it looked like zero fretwork had been done to the ends. Immediately after spending hours masking and filing the damn thing, the shitty plastic nut popped out the second i started to restring it, not to mention the nuts on the tuners were so loose one actually fell off. I’m also having a hell of a time getting it to keep tune and stay intonated.
Awesome guitar !
Monster player !!! Love this guitar too
Beautiful playing man, at 7:44 are you playing anything in particular or is that just noodling? sounds wonderful
Graphtek, how much more would that add to the cost of production? They have to put one on anyway.
In the hands of this gentleman every guitar sounds great
the best reviewer and player on UA-cam.
Andy@PGS, Fluff aka Ryan Bruce, Brett Kingman. This guy is good...not the best.
@@guitarplayergeek if you think fluff is anywhere near tom quayle’s level you have no idea what you’re talking about. Fluff is an average metal guitarist, tom is one of the best legato players in the world and an incredible jazz player. Even if this video skip to 10:07 you would never see fluff play anything like that and tom’s just casually noodling
Bro when I clicked on the video and heard the sound, I was like OH MY GOD... Amazing
Great review and reviewer. I tried one of these guitars with high expectations and, although they look lovely, the finish and quality leaves a lot to be desired and in NO way lives up to the price they command. In the example I tried the fret ends were rough and unfinished, the volume pot was loose (the knob almost like a binary switch.. useless for rolling off the gain). I felt that the pickups (which appear to account for a huge proportion of the cost, relative to the Dimarzio specified versions) when played back to back with EMGs and SDs were really nothing special. Compared with a similarly priced ESP/LTD I own the guitar was a real let down. Sent it right back. Maybe I received a bad one but make sure you try one of these in the flesh before you buy.
Nick dang thanks for the heads up kind of caught in the middle of wanting a esp Ltd or ibanez
Should I go for a new Schecter C-1 Blackjack in that case?
@@padraig88 The Korean made Schecters I tried were very nice. So were the Ibanez Prestige and Genesis series. Good luck with your hunting..
nice pickup
Does the barre knuckle really worth the price? I am considering having a 6u or 6fm
Andrew Levister i see. But the fret work of 6u is real bad and im gonna buy fm all the way.
i didn't uderstand what was the price?
Where the other reviews with Tom Quayle? Telecaster, Stratocaster, Epiphones, Gibsons - there was a LOT of them! And now I can't find any =(
what tuning is this
Could someone please tell me what makes a guitar good for studio?
Rex_Draco a guitar that can stay in tune, locking tuners, pickups that can handle or achieve the style or range of styles you play with accuracy, something comfortable for you to play
Passive pickup ??
Was very surprised when you said the fret job was impeccable. I got the 7 string version and the 1 downside is the atrocious fretjob. It sticks out and pokes into your fingers as you move along the neck...
I bought it new, is there anything I can do about the fretjob on mine?
Pretty sure the guy from the shop did set it up a lot better, because the set up was alright. But the frets are just what keeps me from loving this guitar.I did take it to a luthier but he's on a 3 week vacation right now so I'll have to wait a bit.
As impeccably great Tom is on the guitar, it's obvious that he's not well versed on the rhythmic aspect of the metal genre, he's still better than the rest of us tho
ill be honest with you guys. I own this guitar. Its an extremely noisey / microphonic guitar. I constantly wrestle with noise gates trying to subdue it. why do you think Tom cuts the volume knob when he gets done riffing. Just my experience with it.
I think your right ,I tried one ,same experience, made it a little cheap sounding .
5:41 Eminem.
I have one. I fucking love the mother shit out of it!
Agreeing on all the comments about sharp fret ends/sprouting. And what the hell is this guy talking about when saying "Huge Jumbo Frets" ??? Huge me arse!! I don't even think they qualify as Jumbo. After filing the fret ends, plays and sounds great. And after playing jumbo frets for years, its actually kinda nice not having to slide your fingers across a bunch of speed bumps. A welcomed change. But definitely see this guitar in person before purchasing. I didn't and although luckily happy with my purchase overall, I won't EVER do that again!! Damn quarantine....music shops should be an "essential service" CHEERS!!
Disappointed to hear the neck is not super thin Wizard profile.
2.39 That's what she said.
Also 8:17
I love this guitar. i want it so bad but i just dont think it has the versatility im looking for (it sure has the looks though). i was hoping for one more purchase that could fill in the Strat and Jaguar tones im missing in my collection but i dont think this can do it. im sure it wasnt created for that so i dont see it as a fault in the instrument... i just dont think it's exactly what im looking for :(
This or prestige?
8:02
Wow!! Nice phase
Tom I love you =)
What causes that noise? Asking cause my studio does it too.....
volvot5turbo probs the outlet where it connects to different things like the lights and appliances
Such a Brittish gentleman.."(sniffle) I'm terribly sorry for having a cold..." ....! - I guess we'll excuse you..just this once, young man! Go sort out your immune system for next time!! 😆
Music Man all the way.
that truss rod flipper is useful when guitar has no strings. with strings, screw model is easier. unscrew, slide off the cover, adjust rod, put back again, screw on.
Buy Ibanez Japan at the top end, and buy Ibanez China at the low end, avoid the mid priced guitars coming out of Indonesia, guitar coming out of Indonesia at the moment are not that great, the frets tend to jump out or are uneven, usually you'll find one or two frets sticking out or ducked into the board and the nut job on most of these Indonesian guitars are not set right, they also feel feather light, now light guitars is not a bad thing but these feel like they are made of hollow wood, anyways these are my 2 cents and thoughts after trying and buying a few and later regretting the decision.
Glad to know, I'm not the only one who does not like guitars coming out of Indonesia at the moment, and yes these are way too overpriced for what they offer.
I am going to have to disagree with ALL Ibanez's coming out of Indo, yes, some, but not all. Just my experience, for example, bad experience with the new Indo Jem77wdp, BUT good experience with the RG970...series. I would always though express to Ibanez to straighten out the Indo shops, they do put out some really nice guitars, but you do need the QA to go with it for consistency.
I agree with you, my comments were more in general, I guess what I'm trying to say is the average percentage of good guitars coming out of Japan and China are way better than Indonesia at the moment, I'm also surprised by how good China has gotten over time, they seem to get better with every year passing by.
The only good Ibanez made in Indonesia, are the signature Premium models, for Satriani,Vai,Andy Timmons and Kiko Loureiro, because they're made in a different factory then the normal indonesian Premium models.Specially the indonesian Andy Timmons model is great, but yeah the standard production Premiums aren't worth the money, you can find an used Prestige for less money.
I've a China-made SA Series bought in 2012/13, and I think China's quality standard still has a long way to go. Even my dad's Korean Squier Strat bought in 1996 plays much better. I've also had a 1995 Korean Ibanez Artstar and 1999 Japanese Ibanez S540FM, so I'm blessed to have had the opportunities to try out Japanese, Korean and Chinese Ibanez guitars. Probably will give an Indonesian one a try, since they're priced very attractively.
Tom Quayle get every guitar a great guitar
Made in ?????
indonesia
@@adnanpek3825 Thanks!
you've not got a huge massive wood here.
they just had to ruin it with white binding...
Victor Kviberg but it looks awesome
yeah i actually like the binding, itd be a little plain without it
Love the white binding
That guitar does not sound good.
Lmao what did you just say?
Stop apologizing for your studio and FIX THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
