I didn't think about the fact that this toy came after the show compared to most of the playmate toys. I have the 5 inch 1994 version and I love the details of the stitching, wires and circuits. That and the more white color definitely gives it more of a killer robot/frankenstein vibe which is awesome. It was interesting comparing the 5 inch one while you were going over this one. All the details are there except for slight changes in proportions and angles. The choice to change the sculpt of Krang quite significantly and not include the mirror in the 5 inch version is interesting to me.
I remember seeing him too back then, but like you I didn’t buy. Later on I saw a boxed version as an adult, but I didn’t buy it again. I don’t know why I waited so long to get him!
I got my krang on sale smaller one from KB toys back in the days.I still Have one sealed on card the android body.I actually like the smaller one then the big one..My mom does not like that figure at all she says, the android body version.
I wonder if the creators were inspired by Marvel's Arnim Zola. A Hydra Scientist whose mind was placed inside a robot body with a screen on his stomach that displays his face.
