Do a video about how to get to each individual major ie: a video on the best way to American, the best way to delta, etc. obviously you can’t do them all but just the major ones. Love your videos!!!
Adam Brackston Just because somewhere has a flow doesn’t mean that it’s the best way to a particular major. If someone can go to a regional carrier that doesn’t have a flow but is respectable in the eyes of the major they want maybe they can get to captain and ultimately reach the minimums for majors faster than sitting on reserve or waiting for their seniority number to come up to flow through.
Actually it is. You wanna go to AA, you better be military OR work for one of their WOs. You ain’t getting in another way...unless your resume is out of this world. They selected 49 people off the street last year. That’s it. The odds are harsh if you’re not one of those 2 pathways.
@@echojacobs That may be the case for AA but maybe not for everywhere. That’s why I brought up the suggestion for the best track for each major. What you mentioned here is valuable information and would be great for a video.
I'd love to see a video about different airline's cadet programs and what benefits that it has over just going to ATP or some other flight school and trying to get hired after.
Funny you should bring up "shiny jet syndrome" - I, as a PPL student in my C-172, will look at a Gulfstream taking the active while I'm doing my run-up and thinking --- WOW nice jet!
i wouldn't mind if the next 5 years or so when the majors start feeling the pilot shortage, they just hire us without going to a regional. OMGGGG i would loveeeee thiss. This is a dream situation for me haha
nah theyll probably still take all the captains at the regionals. new hires at regionals are being rushed to captains, and then the current captains will transfer over to the majors, I doubt the majors would pick a 1500 hour flight instructor over someone with 3500 hours, 2000 dual engine, and like 1250 PIC
Garrett if you could do a video/videos about specific regionals that would be great and it would help us future professional pilots immensely! Information on specific regionals like SkyWest, Endeavor, PSA, Republic, etc. Thanks!
I’m from the Washington DC area, so I love that you brought up the idea of overlapping regional and mainline carrier bases. I’m currently only considering airlines which will allow me to stay close to home and ultimately spend more time with my family. With that being said, United(IAD) and American(DCA) are looking like my two most realistic options mainline-wise. I’m currently in my sophomore year of flight school at Kent State U. Great video!
nightstalker I don’t mind having to commute to either Newark or Charlotte since they’re both within close proximity. I’ve spoken to a decent amount of regional carriers and it seems like there’s a fair amount of them offering junior bases in Washington, CLT, and EWR. Hopefully that doesn’t change, of course.
Great video Garrett, break down of each regional would be good, and maybe touch on hiring process you had with your regional, and the transition from flight instructor to airline pilot.
Can you give us an overview of Piedmont, Envoy, and PSA, and their differences? (Like which airline gets you to AA the fastest and their bases/equipment)
nightstalker depends on the base too. Miami for envoy will be a hell of a lot longer of upgrade and reserve time than PSA at a shitty base like philly or something
I know I’m just seeing this video, but I saw another video that you did regarding this matter. I actually was doing this exercise last night. This is very important
Love the videos. I’d love to see a video about your experience for like year 1-5 after flight school. Like what was the training like. Your experience with time off/ability to travel and vacation.
Back in ‘98 when I hired on at “American Eagle” they did not require you to pay $10K. Yes, believe it or not there used to be more pilots than there were jobs and many regionals required you to pay THEM! I refused so that’s why I went to Eagle. I think Skywest was not pay-for-training either. Boy how times have changed. 👍🏻
Was thinking of going to envoy because of the flying benefits and because they get you into American. A video saying what the difference between envoy, PSA and any other regional that guarantee a job with american would be helpful so I can pick one when my hours are there. Thank you.
Hey, Captain. I'm a new subscriber, and find your videos extremely helpful (especially this one). I'd love to see some videos on individual regionals, like you mentioned. Fly safe.
Good things to keep in mind Garrett, but what I want to know is why YOU chose YOUR airline and what your long term goal/vision for your airline career is. Employee satisfaction ratings are important too, are employees happy working for the airline that they do? Profit sharing, union contracts, ceo changes, company vision, airline performance, corporate culture, and customer satisfaction ratings are important to keep in mind as well. Good to have an idea of how you wanted to be treated as an employee and what kind of people you wanna work for since this is an industry where you do settle down and are in it with these people and their management for the long haul. Flying, money, and bases aside.
Andrew Fox That is true but they won’t award Miami out of training. Most likely you’ll get ORD or displaced to LGA or possibly able to get DFW on the 175.
Hey Garrett, could you make a video solely on aviation-based universities (such as Embry Riddle, Auburn, Middle Georgia) and how to choose the right one to attend? I'm sure other young aspiring pilots and I would really really appreciate it!
Grace Varghese pick one that has a good program and is in a place you want to live. There’s too many schools to cover. Research the top schools and the cost/location
Garret I'm a big fan of your videos!! Keep it up! Also, would you make a video about the prospects of having a career in aviation as an airline pilot without a 4 years degree? Chances of making it to the majors without it? I would really appreciate it! Great content!!
Love the longer detailed videos. What are your thoughts on flight schools like blue line aviation that offer no experience to cfi in about 4 months? Keep up the awesome videos!
great video content for those wanting to be a pilot, I have always been interested in planes I am ok flying but the takeoff and landing seem to scare me to death love it thou.
My first flight attendant job was for Phoenix hometown airline,we merged with clt/ phl airline, then we merged with DFW airline. Fly free world wide for free!!😊😊✈️
Everyone forgets Alaska but they are actually the best quality service of American carriers. Not long haul like others but scale them down and they can’t compete
How about having planes build with the first row being wheelchair friendly so we can take our 2 children on vacation. It's been years since we could travel
Great video, very informative! In your specific regional videos, could you maybe do ExpressJet with the flow to United and Republic. Love your videos, relatively new subscriber, I have my Commercial single, preparing for my multi.
Hi Garrett. Can you make a video on the flow by the wholly owned regionals. if the flow is necessary? If you go to flow, does that prevent you from getting hired before the flow?
Hey Garrett, another great video! Could you do a video on commuting? I'm on the path of flying for the regionals, and I'm also based in Charlotte. However, I'd love to live in Wilmington or Charleston. While both have flights to Charlotte almost hourly, I was just curious how that all may work.
Garret, I’m not doing it for the money, but it is important. My question: I hear you say they doubled pay, would they ever cut pay when there is no shortage? Also, how long will the shortage be? In your opinions of course. Thank you.
@@willie31133 would get a lot of views over time though! I don't think there's any video on UA-cam that breaks down all the regionals so it would be a nice first.
Can you do a video on the 3 AA wholly-owned? Which regional sends more pilots than others, should you go to a wholly owned just for the flow? Is it harder to get hired by the wholly-owned because of the flow? Join a wholly-owned cadet program or just wait until you have your ATP to decide?
You really should do videos about the regionals keep it up
Yes I totally agree.
Talkin about the details of each individual regional and what it takes to flow into the majors from them would be awesome.

Envoy has the best pay.

Please do a video breaking down every single regional carrier!
Also, I’m a big fan of the video, breaking down the regionals
Another good focal point might be a unionized regional (Envoy) vs non-union (Skywest) regional. Benefits, costs, drawbacks etc.
Go to United airlines.
They now have their own flight school.

Make a video on Envoy! If you live next to a base (I live in Miami), can you choose to fly out of that airport? Or they choose your base for you?
and PSA please!
Bases are awarded by seniority so depending how long you have been with that company. Last I heard Miami was senior for Envoy.
@@Phx737swa thank you!
Miami is senior of Envoy, but if you do the Cadet program you get top seniority in your training class for base/aircraft

Please do the regional comparison video!
Thanks for the video. Subsribed.

More videos like this bro please
Please do a video on guaranteed vs flow though
Great information. I think having some graphic edits will make your videos better :)
Please make a video on regionals for American 🙏 great vid thank you
