I've been playing for 40 years and I just got an electric set and am finally trying to learn some rudiments from u tube. Barrets music is pretty cool.

It’s funny you should say that because as I was practicing to film this I kept accidentally playing that instead lol

I'm trying to eventually get to the point at which I can take any groove and fill it in like this without having to stop and work it out. ...maybe some day. lol Thank you for watching

Well... I started with watching many lessons from different youtubers, such as yourself and Drummeo, as well a face to face teacher. Keep the great work.

Ahh... I see what you mean. Instead of practicing doubles like this: RRLL RRLL RRLL RRLL etc... practice like this: RLLR RLLR RLLR RLLR it always makes a funkier beat. I explain it better in this video ua-cam.com/video/6ob7FvIuDho/v-deo.html

There is so much you can do with a drum pad. As a matter of fact, many of the lessons I do here are just on the pad, and probably three days out of the seek I don't even touch my kit, I just work on the drum pad. But the best thing would be to get a set of drums wherever you are. If it's a sound issue (i.e you need to be extra quiet in your Canada space) then you can get an electric kit. There are making them better and cheaper all the time. But if it is a matter of available rooms then you are stuck with the drum pad, which is not a bad thing either. Thank you for your comment, I hope this helps.

@@DrumTipTuesday thanks for the reply gabe yes its a room issue but if the pad is good enough for you then its good enough for me thanks again

I have two videos that go through the gear. They're a little old but I don't think I've changed much since then. ua-cam.com/video/ZcCngCUWuXs/v-deo.htmlsi=DjOfqyKpxcfms0zK

Get yourself a band, and then listen to the music,,,,for drumistic stuff there are at least hundred drummers to learn from,,,,however, watching anything with Shannon Forrest or Jeff P....
