    Great video and nicely produced. Your sound consistency on the kit is really impressive (rimshots, fore example).
    My book would be Charley Wilcoxon's Modern Rudimental Swing Solos for the Advanced Drummer.

      It's encouraging to see the comments here that speak of 4 Way Coordination and Ted Reed's Syncopation etc... I teach a whole course on that on my website: www.drumtiptuesday.com/reading-coordination/videos/reading-coordination-trailer
      but it doesn't get as much play as some of the others. Ironically I spent more time filming that one than almost any other lol

      I spent a couple of years working on the triplet section of that book, going through all the possible displacement options, keeping a jazz ride pattern going. I worked on this until every permutation became easy. This really helped me free up my left foot.

      Thank you for adding to the conversation. This is the second vote for the Funky Primer which makes me think that I should at least mention that I have created a six part course based on this kind of material. I call it "Kick Grid Eighth Notes" it's filmed really nice and I'm just noticing now that I don't actually show any of it in the trailer lol, I just talk about it. Anyway if you want to see the trailer it's here: www.drumtiptuesday.com/kick-grid-eighth-notes/videos/kick-grid-8th-notes-trailer-complete

    I’m torn between Wilcoxon and Morello. It’s a coin toss for me.

    • @DrumTipTuesday
      @DrumTipTuesday  5 місяців тому

      I have both of those but I spent way more time in the Wilcoxon, it was required when i was in school. I still like finding the occasional grouping of five and other odd stuff in some of those old rudimental books

      That's a good one! ...a classic for sure. I remember back in the 80's reading an article in a magazine that took the more "paradiddle like" variations, dropped one eighth note off of the pattern, and orchestrated that pattern (now in 7/8) between kick, snare and hi-hats, to create a linear drum groove. It blew my mind
