The Bee Gees did this song as a tribute to Andy in their 'One Night Live' concert with Andy singing parts of it with them on a big screen. They changed the meaning of the song, having the lyrics talking about when Andy hit his 'dark times', not telling them of his issues, and not to 'throw it all away'. Very sad.

In the special "One night only " Barry, Maurice and Robin sing this with their family pictures of Andy playing on a big screen. It's a definite tear jerker 😭
Andy had a very sad soul. As talented as he was, good looks & fame he never had self confidence. Always felt he wasn't good enough...that he couldn't compete & that if it wasn't for the help of his brothers, mainly Barry, that he wouldn't have made it. Sadly he turned to drugs & one bad relationship after another. Finally started getting his life, & addiction, under control in his last two years of life. But, alas, the damage to his heart had already been done. R.I.P. Andrew Roy Gibb 💔
Andy was the youngest Gibb brother and a fine talent. He died tragically at a young age. His best hits include: "Love Is Thicker Than Water", "Everlasting Love", "Shadow Dancing", and, " I Just Wanna Be Your Everything ".
Don't forget the beautiful duet: "I Can't Help It", he did with the beautiful Olivia Newton-John. Their voices were made to blend together...I miss both of them so very much. 😢😢💞💞
Always will break my heart . For some reason only he really knew , he just didn’t feel like he was good enough and was insecure about himself and his ability . He was talented , charismatic and good looking . He had it all . He felt differently. RIP forever Andy and thanks for those songs that brightened up the teen years
The cool thing about the Gibb parents is that they are also musicians! It’s in the blood!! Dad was a drummer and had his own band during the big band era and their mother was a singer!!
Omg I LOVED HIM , posters in my room, I remember getting his albums, yes albums 😂....hey it was the 70's..what's funny is my parents threw lots of parties and it was disco parties and they had Saturday Night Fever Bee Gee s blasting and I remember my dad telling me Andy was their brother , but I was like they are not cute like Andy , correction Maurice and Robin got cheated lol Barry was handsome
I was so in love with Andy, I had his giant poster above my bed. I was devastated when he died. R.I.P Andy, Maurice and Robin. Best band to ever live. 💔💔💔💔
I graduated in 1981, so my teenage years were consumed by the Bee Gees, the disco era, and Andy Gibb. The late 70's and early 80's had the best music, including both rock and disco.
Ahh, disco my parents had disco parties people were doing the hustle in my living room I thought they were so cool which actually they were ...Saturday Night Fever blasting, they had a studio 54 album I was probably 5th grade gng into 6th. And I graduated 1986 I am the meaning of the 80s 😂
Andy was very talented in his own right he was my favorite of the brother's Gibb. He was a solo artist he didn't need them and they didn't need him, when Andy died he and Barry were estranged Barry stated this is my cross to bear for the rest of my life and i tend to agree with him.
One of my most treasured memories is seeing this beautiful man in concert when I was 15. I was absolutely crushed when he passed. 😞💔 May he continue to.R.I.P.
@cathyhudnall6742 .. Hey, that's how old I was when I saw him. It was also the first concert I ever saw. I saw him at Six Flags in Missouri where I used to live. My cousin and I had to sneak to see him because both sets of our parents wouldn't let us go to concerts. It wasn't hard though, since he was at Six Flags. Our parents had no idea then that there was a concert arena within Six Flags, LOL!
It's so hard for me to see Andy for so many reasons. The beautiful baby brother. Barry's little "mini me". His broken heart over Victoria. The drug abuse. Mostly, seeing Barry utterly broken after his death. A talented Gibb brother gone way too soon.
I absolutely loved Andy gibb such a loss to the world. He had some rough times with drugs but still sang like a bird. I miss him so much and don't ever think it will go away he will always be missed by so many.
The Bee Gees did backing vocals for his albums. Their mom was a singer for a big band until she married, their dad was a drummer and big band leader until that went out of fashion. And he had to seek work wherever he could with a daughter and 4 sons. Their sister Lesley, Barry, Robin, and Maurice were born on the Isle of Man then they moved to England, work was difficult to find, the boys got into trouble (police suggested they imigrate to Australia before the boys ended up in jail. ) Andy was born just before they moved to Australia. They still did petty theft until Barry asked the twins if they wanted to be famous for their music or keep doing stuff that would get them in jail. The decision was made to go after their music seriously, and from then on they did. Being discovered performing at a race track between the races for money thrown on the track, a local dj heard them and took them on. That's when they became the BGs, later changed to Bee Gees. They played in veterans clubs and TV variety shows. Eventually being signed to their first record label, Barry writing music for them and other performers for the company. They had minimal success and eventually decided to return to England where the Beatles had hit big. On the steamer on the way to England the got news that they finally got their first number 1 song in Australia called Spicks and specks. When they got to England they visited all different managers and were told that groups were going out of style. But they got a call from Robert Stigwood who was a partner to the Beatles manager and he wanted to have them audition for him. They did in the morning and that evening they were signed by Stigwood. He gave them money for more in style clothing and booked them time for recording, and the rest is history I suppose you might say because their careers took off. They had ups and downs but they had one of the longest lasting careers and are tied for the most number one songs. They are in the rock and roll hall of fame and the songwriters hall of fame. Barry had a number 1 album in 2021 it is great.
@@martinsummers7347 Glad you liked it, it was very short and the information gathered from all different interviews I've heard them do. I have listened to their music my whole life, my mother taught me to dance to it when I was young. I only wish I could have seen them perform. It's too sad that Barry is the only one left, they should have lived longer full length lives.
@@trishafaulk2067 Thanks. Yes so so sad that Barry only brother alive. I too never saw them perform. Where they were living in London when they first arrived in mid 1960's was very close (2miles) from where I lived! In UK, Andy was not nearly as popular in UK as he was in USA. I think he only had 1 top 10 hit here and a few others around the 20 mark (subject to checking).
Mrs Gibb was a singer and her husband a drummer, so musicality was there in spades. The daughter, oldest kid, also sang and filled in fir a while when Robin went his own way. She was not interested in showbiz so ended up in Australia, married with a lot of kids (saw an interview where Barry teased her for having so many kids) and a dog breeding business (not sure about the dogs).
An Everlasting Love is my favorite Andy song. He was indeed a beautiful, but intensely troubled, man. I was devastated when he died. His parents never recovered in some ways.
“Only my Love can raise you high above it all… Don’t throw it all away…. I’m begging you…” So SAD!!! It sounds exactly like what his brothers must have been thinking they wish they had said.
Andy was one of the most beautiful humans (inside and out) to ever be. He was my first crush and first heartbreak. Amber, you are not alone in your fandom. Great reaction guys.
If you really want to see Andy Gibb shine then watch him singing "Words" live. For me he never looked or sounded better than this live performance. A great reaction as usual.
This song was written by Sir Barry Gibb and Blue Weaver, with the former on backup vocals... One of the sweetest songs i have heard... I do hope you would also react to "An Everlasting Love", this song is my favourite song of Andy..👍
Such a special loving caring handsome talented man. I saw him at the Fresno Fair a few years before he passed and what a show. Rest In Peace Andy. I love you and alway will. Forever in my heart. You are missed more than you will ever know. Peace be With You.
Oh, and the HBO documentary "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" is very well done. You will live through their ups and downs and love them even more (if that is possible) by the time it is over.
The thing about Andy; he shot to fame really, really fast. His brothers wrote nearly all of his songs, provided backing vocals, and the whole thing. The fast fame went to Andy's head a bit. He wanted to be a solo act. He wanted to get out from under the shadow of his brothers. His frustration with trying to succeed on his own caused him to abuse drugs and alcohol. Barry tried to get him back into the fold, maybe make him a fourth member of the Bee Gees, but Andy wouldn't have it. And then the Gibbs became the poster boys for the disco backlash that started the 1980s. No one wanted to play any music from any of them. So here Andy was, just on the brink of trying to venture out on his own, and NO ONE wanted him or his bothers any more. He spiraled further into his addictions after that and died way too young.
You may be right about the thing going to his head but I have to say he was always super nice to all of his fans. I got to meet him on a few occasions and he was always very very nice
Actually, Andy wrote almost all the songs on his first album, "Flowing Rivers", but Barry was brought in to write and produce two hits. (And rightly so, since both "I Just Want to be Your Everything" and "Love is Thicker than Water" both hit #1.). So on his second album, Barry wrote 4 songs to Andy's 6 and then Barry completely took over the songwriting on Andy's third (and last) album. Frankly, I wonder how much being made to be a Bee Gee clone impacted Andy. I wonder if he might not have been happier just being the "SoCal songwriter" type his own music wanted to be, instead of the latest edition of the Gibb Bros. Disco Hit machine. But that may just be the romantic in me, I admit.
He began using drugs soon after arriving in the US with his new wife in 1977, which was the reason she left him not long after & went back home pregnant. The drug problem continued & throughout his relationship with Victoria Principal, & when she left him for the same reason in '81.....then things really spiraled out of control. The Bee Gees planned a comeback in '88 & were bringing Andy on board with them....but sadly as we know he passed 5 days after his 30th bday.
Andy wrote most of the songs on his albums, particularly his first. Barry wrote the ones that were singles. Andy wasn't a member of the Bee Gees because he was over twelve years younger than Barry and almost ten younger than Robin and Maurice. They formed the Bee Gees before Andy was even born and had their first hit when Andy was six year old. In later life, Andy had wanted to join the band but his brothers were not keen on the idea. A decision that Robin and Maurice regretted and Barry still regrets. Sadly, at the time of his death, they had finally agreed and Andy was about to join the group. His addiction and the abuse to his body that that caused certainly did not help but his post mortem showed that he had been born with a heart defect that had gone unidentified and undiagnosed until his death. He was a slightly premature baby which could have contributed to the defect. His being practically the double of Barry but only the height of the twins was often attributed to his being slightly premature and always small for his age throughout his childhood.
Loooove Andy Gibb!🥰 I recently saw a recording of live performance from a variety show where he sang with Olivia Newton-John and Abba. I lost my mind, guys 😅😂
The show was called "Olivia!". It was ONJ's prime time TV special that aired in May 1978 right before the release of "Grease". Her guests were Andy Gibb and ABBA (making their first prime time television appearance in the US).
You ask about the parents. As others have mentioned, there's a great documentary on HBO about the Bee Gees. It is FANTASTIC. One of my favorite takeaways is Justin Timberlake discussing the vocal sound of the Bee Gees; he credits that quality they have to them being brothers. And he would know something about vocal harmonies, having had his start in a boy band. JT points out what makes the Bee Gees special: you can't get those kinds of harmonies except from those who are related to each other. MILD, MILD SPOILER BELOW: The documentary ends on such a beautiful yet heart-rending tribute by Barry, sitting alone in his backyard, reflecting on how each of his younger brothers are no longer with us. He refers to all the success he's ever had as a songwriter, producer and performer...and how he'd trade it all away just to have his brothers back again. It's so very touching.
There are a couple of great duets between Andy Gibb and Olivia Newton-John. "I Can't Help It", a hit for them in 1980 - there is not a good live performance but there is a great picture montage version. Also, there is a live performance of "Rest Your Love on Me" from 1981. Please check those out.
I think you should check out anything by Arron Neville , He is a big burly Black man with the voice of an Angel much like Andy Gibb , Arron sadly has passed away but is one of those singers like Karen Carpenter and many others that have a God giving talent that needs to be shared and heard and I thank you two for doing that everyday for us , Cheers
Thid album came out when I was 16 and I had the biggest crush on him. It was so tragic when he died. He was so talented but had demons that won the fight.
Andy has THREE albums. Flowing Rivers, Shadow Dancing, and After Dark. Pick a song, any song. They're all gems. And Amber needs to make room for that Andy Gibb picture she has! 😊
Thanks for reminding me of this one. We all felt the same way, about and had the same reaction that Amber is having to Andy Gibb. He rose so quickly, and it broke my heart when he passed.
Beautiful and so bittersweet- 😞 R.I.P. Andy Gibb ❤️🙌🏻❤️ Edit: oh ok..y’all now gotta see the 3 brothers doing a live performance ,dedicated to him after his passing, them singing this song- They’re live onstage with clips of Andy and family on a back screen- - it’s a must- have tissue ready.. 💜💙
If you want to see something heartbreaking. Find UA-cam vid of Barry singing this remembering Andy while the vid shows Andy growing up and happier times.
This was originally recorded in 1977 for the Saturday Night Fever sessions but was not released until 1979 on The Bee Gees Greatest Hits. It was reworked by Barry a 3rd time, to be released on Andy's 2nd solo album. So this is the beautiful result of that. Worth the wait. Just the harmonies take you to heaven. Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️ ❤️ 🇨🇦🇨🇦
I've looked up all of the Andy Gibb reactions you've done so far. There are 3 songs of his you have not reacted to yet that you need to check out. They are "An Everlasting Love", "Love Is Thicker Than Water", and his duet with Olivia Newton John "I Can't Help It".
I would love for you to react to Andy or Barry's duet with Olivia on Rest your love on me. Also you should hear the Bee Gees do this song. It is a tribute to Andy.
So sad that another great talent was taken away from us way too soon. The Gibbs brothers had a great, but, yet a tragic one. R.I.P. to all the Gibbs who passed.
I love how Amber, who normally closes her eyes while listening to most songs, keeps her eyes open for Andy Gibb!
She needs to open her eyes to late 60s Barry. 😊
Barry wrote 90% of all of Andys songs and thats the Bee Bees singing backup.
It's just Barry on backup, as the twins only sang on 1 of his songs.
Very sad.
That was a great performance. It would be great for Jordan & Amber to react to it.
Absolutely I cried the whole time

"Love Is Thicker Than Water", "Everlasting Love", "Shadow Dancing", and, " I Just Wanna Be Your Everything ".
"Everlasting Love" did not reach #1, but 3 straight #1 out of the gate is very impressive!
That's the essential playlist for Andy Gibb for sure. Great songs!

And 2 gorgeous brothers!❤️
Paler version of Barry’s looks and voice.

What a loss 😢 He dated Marie Osmond briefly and she commented on what a blessing and challenge it was coming from a family of famous singers.
He did a beautiful duet of "Suddenly" with Marie on the Donny & Marie show. Clip on you tube.
Yea till he met that witch ! That was his kyrptonite ! He had problems but she really was like a catch 22 with her

All 3 brothers were estranged from Andy right before he passed away, as he started drinking heavily again.
Not true he did need them. Barry wrote all his hits, and produced his records.
🙄 Reserve your judgement because you don’t have all the facts. They were all done with him by the end.

I think it will be theirs too. Good suggestion.

Andy was set to become the 4th Bee Gee shortly before his death.
What a tragedy; such a great talent and beautiful soul to be lost at only 30.
One of the most melodic and emotional bridges I have ever heard. An amazing collaboration between the brothers Gibb.
Just Andy & Barry singing backing vocals on this.🎼
Ahhh the late 70's - this was a typical Friday night variety show performance with lots of flash and bell bottoms.
Andy had an incredible voice and he was such great eye candy. I grew up listening to him and the BeeGees. All of these brothers were great.

I thought it was 2 days after he turned 30.
Flowing Rivers , Beautiful By Andy
Loooove Andy Gibb!🥰 I recently saw a recording of live performance from a variety show where he sang with Olivia Newton-John and Abba. I lost my mind, guys 😅😂
The show was called "Olivia!". It was ONJ's prime time TV special that aired in May 1978 right before the release of "Grease". Her guests were Andy Gibb and ABBA (making their first prime time television appearance in the US).
@@havensmm9308 That’s the one!
WE SURE HAD IT SO GOOD IN THE 70s Us Over spoiled 70s Brats LOL
Beautiful Andy Gibb
This is my favorite song by Andy Gibb. He was so talented just like his brothers. Great reaction!
He still makes me cry
You ask about the parents. As others have mentioned, there's a great documentary on HBO about the Bee Gees. It is FANTASTIC. One of my favorite takeaways is Justin Timberlake discussing the vocal sound of the Bee Gees; he credits that quality they have to them being brothers. And he would know something about vocal harmonies, having had his start in a boy band. JT points out what makes the Bee Gees special: you can't get those kinds of harmonies except from those who are related to each other.
MILD, MILD SPOILER BELOW:
The documentary ends on such a beautiful yet heart-rending tribute by Barry, sitting alone in his backyard, reflecting on how each of his younger brothers are no longer with us. He refers to all the success he's ever had as a songwriter, producer and performer...and how he'd trade it all away just to have his brothers back again. It's so very touching.
Everlasting Love !!! By Andy! So many hits!
Checkout Andy Gibb with Victoria Principal. You can see the sparks
Their Dad was a drummer in the Big Band era!
So we got a studio version disguised as a live performance? Now everyone's happy.
I love that his brothers sang background for him!!! j
Lots of his songs were on the show, "Solid Gold". He hosted that show for a while.
Thid album came out when I was 16 and I had the biggest crush on him. It was so tragic when he died. He was so talented but had demons that won the fight.
Every time I hear him sing it makes me happy and sad at the same time. 😢
I wore this album OUT when I was a pre-teen. Loved him so much!
Shadow Dancing... My favorite Andy Gibb song...
Written by Barry Gibb and Blue Weaver. Yes, the Bee Gees often did background vocals on his songs. Too many Gibbs gone too soon!
Another Beautiful Song is I can't help it with Olivia Newton-john.
Andy has THREE albums. Flowing Rivers, Shadow Dancing, and After Dark.
Pick a song, any song. They're all gems.
And Amber needs to make room for that Andy Gibb picture she has! 😊
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE AND MISS ANDY! I'm 54 and his picture still hangs on my wall.
Love Andy ❤ Missing him 😢
Dang...Andy gibbs...cry...the song of his memory when he was still alive saying remember me when im gone.
Man! These songs are putting me back in my childhood bedroom listening to all these albums on my stereo! I still have all my albums!🥰🥰🥰
My former eight year old self thanks you. I had posters of Andy and his brothers the Bee Gees all over my room in the 70's.
Thanks for reminding me of this one. We all felt the same way, about and had the same reaction that Amber is having to Andy Gibb. He rose so quickly, and it broke my heart when he passed.
You guys will both be blown away with Andy Gibb doing Words at Chicago Command Performance, I promise
Cream always rises to the top! So sad Andy passed 5 days after his 30th birthday.
I've looked up all of the Andy Gibb reactions you've done so far. There are 3 songs of his you have not reacted to yet that you need to check out. They are "An Everlasting Love", "Love Is Thicker Than Water", and his duet with Olivia Newton John "I Can't Help It".
Thanks for this!
Man on fire and Desire also.
I Can’t Help It is a beautiful duet with Andy Gibb and Olivia Newton John.
I would love for you to react to Andy or Barry's duet with Olivia on Rest your love on me. Also you should hear the Bee Gees do this song. It is a tribute to Andy.
R.I.P. Andy, such a beautiful voice silenced to soon. Thanx so much, Blessings
So sad that another great talent was taken away from us way too soon. The Gibbs brothers had a great, but, yet a tragic one. R.I.P. to all the Gibbs who passed.
I hear the brotherly love in the background ❤
Love is Thicker Than Water is my favorite of Andy's. It has a very dreamy feel.
