    I didn't create this course! I'm not the expert. But I followed it, and it's awesome.

    This hasn't really something to do with the basiscs of UE5. This is a 350$ Plugin from the UE Marketplace and the Tutorial you talk about is 50$. But if someone just startet to doodle around in UE5 this should probably not be the first step. If you really want to make games you need a fun game concept that works without a large world. A large generated world is worth nothing if you cant provide a fun experience. If anyone remembers No mans sky at release, they had the largest world by surface with billion planets but the gameplay wasn't fun. They added stuff that was fun later but i would suggest to focus on the "fun" part first. I would argue that the things that are fun in no mans sky don't really need a billion planets and multible galaxies. At this point it just adds confusion to where stuff is in the galaxy because the points of your interest might be multiple systems away from each other. Dont get me wrong i have the plugin too and i really like it but some disclaimer like this would probably be nice for people just getting startet. To me this video has strong ad vibes so if you want to improve your youtube presents i would highly suggest giving some context about what you are presenting. If you don't want to improve i am not judging. Doing youtube for fun and not for views is a valid option.

    Using the tutorial, can you procedural establish a biome as a transition biome, between two other biomes. Its the transition that creates the realistic look. I know you used hard transitions to illustrate, but in a map, like all the Assassin's Creed games, I need to ability to create transitional biomes distinct from biomes, procedurally.

    Great video. I would love to see more UA-camrs recommend paid courses. They are often great.

    Does this use seeds like minecraft? And, how does the water work in this voxel environment?

    The project I hope to one day create is a game with our solar system. And have it where most of the moons and planets are explorable and some will be populated

    Is it limited to using the voxel for the land generation? I'd like to be able to use Gaea height maps and automaterials that I already own etc.

    Do you know if it is possible to generate something different each time asking the player to choose a seed ? And also is it possible to make disappear far chunks and when you go back to them it generates something new? thanks !!

    How do I take a custom landscape or procedural landscape and contour the continent to my own specifications? For example, I have a map from the book I'm writing, and I'm trying to turn it into a game. I know the shape of the landscape i want, but putting in procedural landscapes doesn't seem to let me customize the shape, procedural foliage and using nanite seems to bog down the system too much. Am I able to customize the exact shape of the procedural landscape? So that the entire landscape isn't procedural, just the landscape within set boarders are?

    This would be great for the game ideas I have. I am hoping a well experienced indie dev team makes a open world proceedurally generated north american zombie survival game in unreal engine 5 been waiting so long for someone to make something better then dayz. there is absolutely so much potential for a brand new open world server based zombie survival game

    Could I use this plugin for it or does anyone have a recommendation for me?

    Makes me wonder, since UE4 projects can be ported to UE5, I wonder what games already released in the past could see a 'remake' that could make them amazingly good.
    Oh yeah Kingdom Hearts 3 was on UE4, but performed horribly on the PS4, so ported to UE5 would greatly improved performance and visuals across the board using nanite and lumen.
    The same with FF7 Remake, bad performance on the PS4, sub 30s...
    But yeah if utilizing Nanite and Lumen on the PS4 can vastly improve overall performance and visuals, then it should be utilized by all UE4 developers.

    • @Zripas
      @Zripas 2 роки тому

      Nanite and Lumen isint really a magic. Lumen is still more heavy than general prebaked or simplified lights. And nanite has its own limitations which can ruin more complex materials and has issues with more thin shapes in general. So its wont be that easy to update games to new look as much as we would want it.

    • @NebosvodGonzalez
      @NebosvodGonzalez 2 роки тому

      @@Zripas yeah definitely plus there are going to be other things that are probably going to glitch especially with big games.

    • @Zripas
      @Zripas 2 роки тому

      @@NebosvodGonzalez
      In general nanite can really help out for some general shapes if you have bunch of those in your world, like rocks, buildings, cars. Something simple with simple materials. It does wonders with those, but you will need to specifically test every single mesh and how it behaves with Nanite, so while its still an option to be used to get extra FPS, its not as simple as "Convert everything to Nanite".
      Lumen on another hand looks good, its some what weird one too as it tends to slowly change light levels and creates this weird transitional period where your scene gradually lights up if there is sudden light level change, might not be an issue is most situations, but again, its a limitation on its own and wont work on all use cases.
      All that said, its generally still in early development and most issues could be resolved down the line.

    So basically UE5 can do voxel sandbox games like minecraft without killing your CPU in a sense?
