The Thunder King
By Lorewalker Cho
Pandaria, her hills of gold
In dark and mournful times of old
Did once a hopeless horror hold
When from her sacred veil did spring
With storm and flash, a monstrous thing
His name Lei-Shen, the Thunder King
His thunder boomed across the land
And none who dared and fought could stand
Against the iron tyrant's hand
A palace grand, a walled domain
Such mighty works born of his reign
Built by slaves, their hearts in chains
But seasons change and tyrants die
His fury spent in times gone by
The thunder slept beneath Kun Lai
By Zandalari hands he has been taken
By Zandalari voice he has awakened
Gather heroes, sound the drums
The Thunder King comes
The Thunder King comes
MoP will probably stay my favourite expansion forever. Everything about it was beautiful.
"I am Lei Shen, slayer of kings and gods. You have made a grave mistake."
Nope...I can show myself out, no need to get up. Sorry to have bothered you, sir.
Lei Shen voiced by the coolest man of all time Christopher Lee
***** Actually, that was all just a rumor. Lei Shen was actually voiced by Paul Nakauchi.
@@KTWoW25 on the PTR he was voiced by Christopher Lee but they later changed it to Paul by the time the patch went live.
@@DeeJayLilStack not true at all. Where did you get that info?
He was one of if not the coolest 1 xpac boss. Lei shen was power incarnate
Lorewalker cho sounds devastated in this. He doesn't think you have any chance- those last few lines really drive it home. He expected us to loose, and for the mogu to enslave pandaland all over again
All he knew was that his people were enslaved up until the point of his natural death, so I can't blame him for sounding so sad. No one could oppose him.
@@Idkmanlemmeedit Actually, Lei Shen was killed when the tolvir unleashed the power of Uldum against him and the Zandalari elites, he didn't die of Natural causes. But i agree with you, Cho sound desperate and hopeless, notably near the end of the video.
@@artic_shadowreader7008 Except it still took several months for the Re-Origination Beam to kill him.
@@TheLordMagmarThey didnt say it in the books (chronicles). Thanks for telling me.
I don't know why, it's really a pretty simple one but this is one of my favorite patch trailers. It might just be that Jim Cummings voice is just the best.
Don't forget Christopher Lee as Lei Shen.
Nothing makes hype like the voice of Winnie the Pooh
This and Rise of the Zandalari are the best wow trailers IMO.
1:04 always gives me chills.
@@lolander54 i know 2 years late but...NO. ITS NOT CHRISTOPHER LEE. Where did people ever get the idea it was christopher lee? It sounds nothing like him!
I don't care what anyone says. Pandaria was an amazing expansion.
Damn straight
The best expansion IMO. Everything about this expansion was amazing.
Pretty damn great but I can't put it above Wrath of the Lich King.
EdgeHeadFUHaters You are putting it above WoD?
Fleet Admiral IKrunch Could not agree more. I never thought anything would edge out TBC's dungeon and raid content or WotlK's quests and storylines, but MoP did it. Throne of Thunder was even on par with my favourite raid, Ulduar.
Lei Shen was too cool of a character to last only 1 tier.
pfft this is wow, nobody is really dead.
and he was still a better villain than sylvanas lmao
@@rexnoct5810 Absolutely
雷神
@@thesauceboss1005 lol confirmed with Shadowlands
This was like a second Ulduar. Loved it.
+borgri Er.... why would they want to recreate ulduar with this raid? Sure this place has titan influences, but it held a titan keeper at one point before Lei Shen went, betrayed him and absorbed his powers (along with a titan's essence). After that, it became his palace, his seat of operations. Very different from Ulduar altogether.
+borgri hmm... I wouldn't say it's the last good raid. Almost every raid from Throne of Thunder were challenging, fun and excellent in design. Ulduar is still the best mind you, but these recent raids are pretty much excellent.
+borgri ????? - where did you hear that they failed with this? a lot of people say that this is one of, if not the best raid that blizzard has ever made. it's my personal #2 behind, of course, ulduar. kara is #3 if you're interested.
+Tyestor I agree.. I'm playing on a MoP private server rather than vanilla bc or wotlk just because of this raid alone.
true, was an amazing raid!
Coolest patch trailer, alongside The Rise of the Zandalari and The Gods of Zul'Aman.
What? I just really like trolls.
We could be good friends.
+Veikko Elo me too, there always was a troll patch or something related to trolls, but then the warlords nation attacked
+SodOfDeath shadowhunters played a big role in the events of wod
where?
and also i meant an evil troll empire like the Drakari, The Zandalari (which wasn't always evil but that's besides the point) or the Gurubashi
+Veikko Elo You're not the only one :)
Nearly 7 years later, this expansion, and this patch in particular, are still my absolute favourite time I've ever had in WoW.
I can't even begin to care about all the hate MoP got. I just loved every bit of it.
To me it was the best expansion and I've been playing since BC. This was the best patch I've ever experienced in WoW and definitely the best expansion at least lore and effort/love - wise. And I'm not even saying it cause WoD and BfA left a sour taste in my mouth, I genuinely loved every second of MoP when it was current (maybe minus the infinite dailies at the start). I had way more fun in BC and WotLK since I had more friends and was meeting more new ones when playing so the social experience was top notch and it was an amazing time, but if I ware to judge the GAME itself then MoP is definitely #1, followed by Legion.
it was the objectively the best for pvp. classes were very fun and everything was viable
@@Jester-15 I mostly played PvE myself, but even in my raiding gear, my destruction warlock swept the floor with everything and everyone. I loved it. xD
In my opinion one of the best wow patches, both cinematic and the actual patch
Here we go again
RIP 5.2, one of the best patches.
6.2 isn't even half as good.
RIP patch 5.2
Never forget
+Primal Shock one of the best Patches in game :P
honestly with all the bitching about MoP i got to say 5.2 was one of the if not the best patch in WoW
Thank you! YES!
For me, Mists of Pandaria as a whole is my favorite WoW expansion. The writing and storytelling has never been better, there was always something to do, the patch content was top-notch, and the Pandaren finally became playable. I loved it all, and this trailer still gives me goosebumps years later. ^_^
5.4 was the best one imo. But the second place easily goes to 5.2. MoP was easily 10/10
Linus Danielsson 5.4 was awesome too sure but we had it almost a year until new content which draggs it a little bit down for me^^
TheHorreK2 Yeah, but that wasn't 5.4 fault in my opinion, it was that WoD came out too late, imo atleast :)
I submitted an idea on the Heroes of the Storm forums for Lei Shen as a playable character. Included abilities, quotes and his unique talents.
***** Christopher Lee? He didn't voice Lei Shen. Unless you mean his actual voice actor.
***** Paul Nakauchi. Look up Lei Shen's page on Wowpeia.
***** Not to me. I guess people hear things differently.
Who is lei Shen again?
***** K ty
1- Ga'nar sacrificing himself at the end of Frostfire ridge quest line
2- Arthas saying "let them come, frostmourne hungers" at the end of patch 3.3 cinematic
3- This cinematic. Honestly if I was a real warlord and somehow kindapped the dude that voiced Lorewalker Cho, I'd make him tell me stories non-stop, till he dies.
Cho's poem gives me chills everytime. A dope trailer for a dope patch . Pandaria was an awesome place !!!!!!!
I've watched this so many times now. I can recite this by heart.
*****
Found out that Lei Shen was voiced by Sir Christopher Lee. lol
RageLazer Read it was Paul Nakauchi. :o
So can I
I swear, I always get chills from this trailer; probably my favorite patch trailer thus far. It is amazing at setting the mood. "Gather heroes, sound the drums; the Thunder King comes.... THE THUNDER KING... COMES...."
wish wod had a thunderking patch...
+lolumaria I wish WoD had any patches.
+Westy543 Yeah but it was eh
Calios That would be even better. Instead we got a selfie camera that has lower quality than a Windows 95 print screen.
there was going to be a Shattrath raid but it got cut, it would've explained how Yrel got strong all of a sudden or something like that.
My best content after Ulduar. Not because of the trolls, but because of the boss mechanics and the beautiful settings and story. Also a trailer with poem by cho? One of the Best ideas.
This trailer makes me consider that having the mogu as a playable race would be pretty sweet.
it's literally just a draenei male reskin..
Elijah Calloway-Cortes i dont think he means just the looks of the mogu but the lore and the interesting aspects of them
The Mogu were my favourite race from Pandaren, thought it would be the Mantid, but with all of their titan lore, the stories Cho told you, Wrathions tidbits with the runestones, the ancient Zandalari pact, it was all so fleshed out and interesting.
Makes me kinda sad we probably won't ever see them again.
Yeah, but they'd prob be too big.
Better than pandaren
This raid tier was awesome. I absolutely loved it.
This is my favorite patch trailer. The music and photography and how everything fuses together is just awesome.
8 years ago, im crying feels like yesterday
i hope the thunder king is playable in heroes of the storm
Blizzard did a good job with the historical references here.
CrushedJustice Not only, but referencing even in-game quest dialogue. The lines " The Thunder slept beneath Kun-Lai" and " By Zandalari hands he has been taken" were all references to a quest in Kun-lai Summit where Lorewalker Cho read out those lines in a tomb.
Lei Shen was my favourite boss ever I think. Love his voice acting.
same bruh
雷神
Pandaria was the top of the writing from Blizzard... these trailers are bonkers
You know WoD wasn't good because it didn't even have a troll raid.
+zombiefriend But 6.1 was such a troll patch
Mehujanne Oh, you.
+Mehujanne genius....
+zombiefriend Sound logic
+zombiefriend The entirety of WoD was a Blizzard troll though :p
5.2 Was hands down the best wow patch ever.
I actually really loved this cinematic.
Don't know why some people disliked MoP, this patch was so good only bad thing about Mists was the content drought at the end.
People hated it because Pandas.
No, seriously. I've yet to see a single argument against MoP that goes beyond "bu-but.... IT HAS PANDAS IN IT!"
So true. All my friend irl friend stopped playing at the end of cataclysm when mop was announced just because it looked way too much like kung fu panda to them. so stupid.
Well, to be honest, I liked MoP, but it did have a *really* rough start.
For many people, this caused them to quit within the first couple months before things got better, so they left with the false belief that the entire expansion was like that.
MoP remix! Let’s gooooo!
What I'd give to go back to this tier
We will go back in MoP classic
"A palace grand, a walled domain
Such mighty works born of his reign
Built by slaves, their hearts in chains"
mah hart mah sole
This ose ONE HELL OF A PATCH! One of the best up to date in all ten years if I may say so. Isle of Thunder progression was just awesome, doing dailies was never so intense for me, "just give me another stage already!" then solo scenario and watching as we unlock Lei Shen's fortress piece by piece. Raid was epic, comparable to Ulduar imo, this trailer is pure art, Mists is the expansion when I got into lore, I read quests now etc, say what you will, Mists of Pandaria was the best expansion for me, and if that's exagerrating - equal to BC and Wrath. Cheers.
If only we could play it again
@@TheMastermind729 If have good news for you !
Remix is awesome
I hope some day we will get classic server of MOP #2019
Gather Heroes Sound Da Drums Grommash Hellscream comes Grommash hellscream comes
Thumbs up if you are watching this in anticipation of MoP Classic!
we can only pray
Lei Shen for Heroes of the Storm!
Agree
I miss Pandaria, was one of the last really good expansions. All the morons who were whining about "lol pandas" clearly had no idea of the lore since Chen was a big part of the founding of the Horde.
MoP was honestly ahead of its time
I don't see why anyone thinks dinosaurs are for kids games. They are giant fucking lizards with horns and spikes, not to mention they rip things up and eat them and are tough enough to eat rocks to digest food. That's pretty badass.
Also, you can say "Clever Girl" whenever horridon kills you.
Henry Helwig haha that made me laugh !
Thanks
One of the best WoW pathes EVER!
i'll never forget that :(
Best patch ever in history of wow
Peak level of Mists of Pandaria. Thunder King Patch was Legendary.
By Zandalari voice... He has a weekend!!!
The Thunder King cums... The Thunder King... cums...
MrTnorki xD
Korax xxxxDDD
ZANSALARI RETURNS IN 2018!!
In hindsight this was actually an amazing trailer. :o
One of the best patch trailers for sure/
One of the best failures..they lost millions of players because of the Kung Fu Panda rip offs
except pandaren have existed since warcraft 3: the frozen throne
Actually, sub numbers hung around 7-8 million through the expansion, only going under towards the end of the content drought.
Also, I genuinely want to ask this: how is MoP a Kung Fu Panda ripoff? And how was MoP a failure? The community at large has thankfully come to recognize as of late that it was a pretty good expansion set, all things considered.
You guys remember that one time Blizzard released content every 3 months with tons of new stories and lore? I remember that too.
Lol, once every year now
Consider Lorewalker Cho is voiced by the man who voices Winnie the Pooh... Wauw.
That... actually make sense. xD
"Against the Iron Tyrant's hand" So Lei Shen was part of the Iron Horde all along. *Illuminati revealed #Half-Life3 confirmed.
"But seasons change and tyrants die
His fury spent in times gone by
The thunder slept beneath Kun Lai"
I get enchanted by the voice at this lines
Cocaineacola the voice actor for me is what made the trailer so awesome.
It's this guy:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Cummings
Blizzard really went all out on celebrity VAs this expansion.
One of the best patches in WoW history. The sad thing though is that back in 2013 no one thought, "I really hope the next Republican nominee for President will be just like Lei Shen!" Think about it. Lei Shen promoted race warfare, used illegal labor to build his palaces, had pretty small hands, was mainly supported by Trolls, had skin that is definitely not a natural color, had some strange thing on his head where hair would usually go, and is primarily remembered for building a wall and making the Pandaren pay for it.
That's what i was thinking too lol
L Mao!
after the many, many patches i've seen and played through, this will stay my favorite
I just like Lorewalker Cho's voice. Can we get a video of him ordering coffee or something?
Hold up heroes, blow the cup, the coffee is hot... the coffee is hot
I will have a latte, of milk non-fat,
Of body strong but shots decaf,
Topped by a crown of whip at that.
I will also have a bagel with spread,
Hold the cream cheese, jam instead,
For a soul to be content, the body must be fed.
@@BlueShellshock this comment is so mortally underrated and underliked it makes me upset
I was never bored of MoP
Insecdroid salutes Jim Cummings’s incredible VA.
I love how amazing bosses like this will be solo-able in a few years :D
Doubtful since they are doing a stat crunch with Warlords of Draenor.
Soulece Our characters aren't the only thing getting a stat crunch...
Yes but they are bringing all the stats down to Earth. The stats they showed for lvl 100 are a bit more than what we saw in WotLK. However, if you see the damage numbers for the crunch, I hardly think the stats are going to be so crunched that you can just solo the same way we can now.
The whole reason we can solo old content so easily is that our stats are wildly out of control but the stats for those raids stay the same. It stands that it's quite probable that everything before Cata will stay roughly the same stat-wise and everything from cata to MoP will be readjusted.
Nitin Shekhar Which is why I said "roughly". All bosses Cata and beyond will have MASSIVE stat crunches. Everything WotLK and back will likely have little stat crunch and in the case of BC and vanilla, none at all.
The LK will not be more difficult than Garrosh. Stats squish is going to apply to bosses' health & their attacks. What's not going to change is how these numbers are relative to each other after level 60. So if Garrosh has 9 times more health than the LK now, he's still going to have 9 times more HP after the patch. It's just going to be using smaller numbers. The same logic is going to apply comparing Deathwing with the LK, the LK with Kil'Jaeden, & so on.
By the looks of it, numbers are going to squished by ~95%. Even though you have the right idea Soulece, in order to keep kill times the same solo'ing old content, the way you think they're going to apply it can't happen after lv. 60 where raids are introduced. It has to happen before and throughout levels where there's no access to raids in order to keep stat gains as you progress rewarding.
As an example, You may only see a stat squish of 80% from lv. 50-60, 64% from 40-50, 48% from 30-40, 32% from 20-30, 16% from 10-20, & nothing from 1-10.
It's so sad how far the patch trailers have fallen. The 10.1 Abberus trailer is nothing compared to this.
Gather, Heroes..
Sound the drums..
The Thunder King comes..
The Thunder King comes.
Goosebumps everytime.
Probably one of the best patches!
Please, bring it back, bring back MoP
Still watching this cinematic... it is far the best :D
Yes!!!
Oh Ra-Den......... We saved you from this monster....... Only for another to take you......... I'm sorry.....
To this day the best patch the game has ever seen, only one even close is 8.2
God bless Jim Cummings
Throne of Thunder was such a great raid.
idk why but I like moment in 1:34. The sound of army walking sounds so awesome for me :)
Sure miss these days...
November 2019..Anyone else?
I miss those times where Thunder King was a threat
Nowadays we kill literal gods, defeat old Gods in a single patch, its just insulting
I don't understand why people are hating on MoP so much. It had 2 extremly good raid tiers, something to do while not raiding such as dailys and farming and the pvp was pretty funny when you were the one who had gear and the other one didn't! x)
FireSignd Because WoW purists can't get used to new things if they're not based on something that already existed.
I can't remember the amount of times I heard "lol kung fu panda, april fools race" joke for hicks who can't appriciate something that's presents new lore into the world.
Ken Leep Well, I'm all hyped for the new Addon! Hope Classorders aren't garrison 2.0 tho...
FireSignd It'd be okay as long as it's "garrisons perfected". I liked a bit of craft in my warcraft, now we just need some scenarios where I actually get to command my class order followers in battle or something
Ken Leep that would be pretty cool, yeah. I didn't like the missions. I mean, this is one of the things that prevented me from rerolling. If it wasn't for the garrison I'd probably main a rogue or a warlock instead of my DK right now. Plus I mean, garrisons also made farming professions useless.
At first, but when Tanaan launched and only gatherers or fishermen could obtain an adequate supply of felblight (at least for me having 7 characters there), I was glad I kept gathering profs.
Kind of makes me think of Lei Shen is basically Thanos of Warcraft.
RIP Christopher Lee ;(
iGizmoTech It's been an honor to have been killed by him multiple times. One of the best bosses in WoW overall with the voice of one of the greatest actors ever.
iGizmoTech what happend to him?
Anthony Jimenez he ded
espio87 He didnt fcking voice act anything in WoW lol
Gimlix
yeah he did
I actually have a question related to the Thunder King: on the way to the Isle of Thunder for the first time, Vereesa says something about a 12,000 year old Mogu kingdom. Problem is, if I remember correctly, the Sundering that split the single landmass of Kalimdor into its 4 current continents happened 10,000 years ago. Before that point, the Night Elves ruled Azeroth and would not have tolerated a Mogu kingdom. Even if they had allowed another empire, I'm pretty sure the Elves were the only sentient race even on Azeroth pre-Sundering. What's up with that?
Spoiler alert: elves are mutated trolls.
We also had the Zandalari Empire, and several other Kingdoms building. The Elves were dealing with the initial assault of the Legion, and the Mogu ruling down the South of Azeroth while allied with the Zandalari. After the Pandaren rebellion, the Mogu Empire was taken down, and then the Zandalari attacked Pandaria, and lost to the Pandaren too. Not long after, came the Legion and broke the World, which made the Pandas hide in their Isle and Mists.
Fun fact, Pandarens were a known people by the NElf, there is even treasures of Pandaria given to the Highborne. One of them was a chest, promising to contain inside, all the magic the Highborne needs. And it was empty when the Highborne opened it up. They took the lesson as: We need no Magic. Which was intended. The chest exists even at current days as a reminder.
With the Zandalari Empire joining the Horde, who else would be excited to see the armored dinosaurs like devilsaurs and direhorns used as war beasts against the alliance or whatever threat in a all out war showing all the racial members of the Horde and the armored dinos in the back marching towards the alliance army or old gods in a epic cinematic?
One of the best WoW trailers I've seen in a while. I get chills everytime I watch it. Jim Cummings really brings it to the next level.
Anyone here after the Platinum video ?

New allied race: Mogus

Is why we should have Mogu as an allied race.
Only for the Alliance, since they're titanids, just like most of the Alliance races.
@@КонстантинМатвеев-д8ц 100% agree.
@@КонстантинМатвеев-д8ц
Pretty sure the Pandaren who joined the Alliance wouldn’t exactly appreciate that,
North lands of hills of ice ,
in bountiful and merry times,
once housed strong berserker tribes .
When from their homeland they did sail ,
armed with steel and armed in mail ,
plundering wherver men were frail .
But their strength was not their own ,
for they prayed in a mighty tone ,
to Thor's hammer made of stone .
The Thunder God did grant them strength ,
to fight against the christian men ,
and so they fought for the glory of his name .
But they were many and we were few ,
fallen brothers to Valhalla flew ,
the remaining rose as christians anew .
But by Sons of Odin he has been preserved .
By Sons of Odin his tale has been secured .
Gather brothers , fill the horns !
As Thunder God's influence grows ,
as Thunder God's influence grows .
The best raid ever made, better than Nighthold and Ulduar.
The most beautiful blizzard's cinematic ever!
this is what made me play wow.
Like and share if you want this to be a Hearthstone Adventure Mode!
Actually one of my regrets was not playing this expansion!
its the last great expansion before the dark times, not even Legion can compare to pandaria as a whole. Even if it did show promise and have good aspects, Pandaria still beats it out.
I keep coming back to this trailer because of how well it is built. Narrative, suspense, cinematic arrangement ... it's just flawlessly done. Those last few lines are on par with "Look now to your defenses, my son, for the champions of justice gather at your gates!" - "Let them come. Frostmourne hungers!" from the 3.3 trailer.
Best expansion behind TBC and Classic, don’t @ me.
This trailer is Cho'gall's theme I HotS

I love the history and lore of the Mogu and Lei Shen was an awesome character.
