I am doing my manicure while watching you. While I am transitioning from cutting , and shamefully biting the Kerasal is helping but there is still thick hard skin. Learning it will take time so when I have the urge to mess with them I sit on my hands! Quite a journey but I will not give up. Thanks Anna!
THIS is by far my favourite type of video from your channel. So relaxing and I learn so much just from what you say but also from watching you file, remove cuticle and polish. Great 👍 👌 🩵💜
I wish I had found your channel sooner! I've always championed natural nails and it's so nice to see the care and attention you give to natural nails. I've suffered previously from onycholysis and now from peeling nails, despite lots of remedies. I'm enjoying looking through all your lovely recommendations 😊
This is much safer type of manicure than a Russian one. I used to go to a nail salon for 1,5 years. A nail technician had been cutting skin around my nails in a super gentle way, no infections, no peeling PNF during my whole experience of Russian manicures (guess I’m just lucky). But three weeks ago I was like “I’m done with it, just wanna do my manicures at home” haha. Then got the last Russian manicure (with clear gel base coat) in my life. On that day I discovered your channel and have learned from you how to treat nails and skin around them properly. Also now I know what cuticle actually is. Can’t wait for my natural nails to grow out. Thank you so much! Your videos are incredibly relaxing and educative🤍

Have you tried the Londontown nail concealers? I would be really interested in your opinion on those products as well as their nail veils (which they claim are healthy for nails and therefore don’t need a base coat). Thanks for teaching us, your work is so helpful and soothing to watch 💕
I love all the great information you give, thank you. But I' ve notice none of your model's have medium to long nails? My nails are like your model's, but I'd like them to get longer. 🙂 Should I be doing manicure 2 times a week??
Thank you for making this video. I am also a PT and have to keep short nails and endure frequent washing throughout the day. I really liked how you used the efile to get those calloused areas down. I've been using a fine grit nail file. Do you think I would be better off with the efile?
Hello DC. No, it’s better to use Kerasal on a regular bases (this client just started) and using a fine file is perfectly fine. I don’t recommend using efile if you are not specifically trained with it. I use it because I have different needs at the salon. Generally I recommend weekly maintenance manicures and daily use of Kerasal.
Hello :) Non of my clients have long nails. In order to have long natural nails one needs to really take care of them. If someone really takes care of their nails and does it well and effectively, they usually don't go to a salon. That is my experience.
Hi, I am a starting nail artist. You are so inspiting and your videos are truly a gift. I have a question about dry manicure and the normal with cuticle remover. You said you look at what the clients nails need. Could you give a more in depth advice which technique to use en when. I hope you see this❤
Question - what is the best clear polish for ridgy peeling nails? Currently I've stopped with any clear polish and use jojoba oil soak and kerasal daily. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Hi there :) No polish really. I would wait until the peeling improves and then do few days of polish (just for the looks) and then a day off and oil soak. I have a few videos about ridgy nails. @@TheSalonLife Yes I had a feeling you'd advise no polish...I have watched these videos they are so helpful. I can not say enough about how helpful the oil & kerasal have been. Thanks!
Thabk u for the video! My nails are thin and brittle. I keep them quite short to avoid breakage/peeling. Could u recommend a hand cream for anti-aging (wrinkling and hydration)?
Hello :). The best thing you can do to prevent skin ageing is sunblock. Most of the skin damage is from excess of sun and not age really. Just look at the skin inside of your arm and outside. No spots and much smoother texture. I use urea based lotion and oil like I always talk about and then just on the back of my hand at night I use tretinoin (the one I use on my face). Also sunblock when I go out. You can also add Niacinamide Serum from the Ordinary. It’s cheap

@@TheSalonLife Thank you, Anna. Have you ever thought about building a manicure kit for gentle manicures? Could be a basic kit of your favorite items or a deluxe kit. I’m sure people would snap them up.
Hii! This is the same process you would do for gel nails/gel extensions? I ask because I want to do a safer and gentler job for myself and others, but usually, people teach that you need to cut the "cuticle" (which I learned with you that it's not the cuticle) for a long duration...
I'm new to your channel and learning so much from your videos. You've mentioned Polish product, as an alternative to Kerasal, what is it? Couldn't quite catch the name 😀
I always watch your vids but watching this today made me want to ask if we are doing the first two steps at home which sre filing and pushing the cuticle how are we doing to remove if we don't have an electrical file? Like what you did thank you alot
Hello R! Then after shaping the nails and nudging back the living skin you would use cuticle remover to soften the cuticle and you would remove it. I show how to do this here: How to Use Blue Cross Cuticle Remover [Product Spotlight] ua-cam.com/video/d_BAnJlJ1Bs/v-deo.html
I haven’t had any polish on my nails for almost 3 weeks. I love to take breaks in between polish and give them extra love during this time, as we know that prolonged polish use isn’t healthful for the nails. But today, I put on some “Pink Armor”, which is similar in appearance to Dior Nail Glow, but is a strengthening gel-like polish. I love the way it feels. I’m hoping it will help my nails grow a bit and stop breaking.
@@TheSalonLife Ugh. Okay, yeah and I see Camphor, too 😳😳😳. Time to take it off. I need a quality strengthener. What do you think about Opi Nail Envy strengthener….any opinion? Ingredients look okay?
There is nothing wrong with camphor and there is nothing wrong with formalin if you are using it correctly and for the correct reasons. OPI Nail Envy is just a clear nail polish with some marketing ingredients. The "strengtheners" only work by creating a plastic coating making the nails "feel stronger but they don't have any benefits for the nails. In fact constant nail polish use can actually damage the nails. How to stop the nails from breaking? Depends on why they are breaking. Are they too soft? Are they too hard? Are they damaged? Are they shaped incorrectly? Maybe it's a lack of proper nail care? Too many variables to give one answer. This is why I created this service :)) www.thesalonlife.ca/services
Yes, it's ok to just push the skin back. The only time it's necessary to remove cuticle from the nail plate is when you apply polish because polish does not stick very well to cuticle.
Love the thorough explanation but I don't at all relate the electric file. I benefit much more from the ones where you're using manual tools, but that's just me :)
Hi C D. Yes, I have a link for that cream in the description box :) It can be applied to the skin around her nails to soften the hardened skin, not the nail bed (nail bed is underneath the nail plate)
