I ruined my skin recently because I got hooked on the “cuticle”-obsessed influencers. I purchased oils and nippers and scissors and tried to mimic their tutorials. I was in so much pain with raw and torn skin, thinking there was something anatomically weird about my nails. So I did research and saw these diagrams and realized I had been removing and picking with living skin. Thanks for creating this video. There are so many nail influencers without anatomy knowledge spreading misinformation or unintentionally misleading followers because they are vague and aren’t clear with advice. I hope this information becomes more widespread. Thanks again.
I did the same thing and stumbled across her videos and she has educated me so much and I love how detailed she is. I can't believe I've been cutting my living skin all these years and been in pain but now that ive leared the difference from salon life im now healing. Keep the videos coming. I've been doing my own manicures at home and saving lots of money.
Hi can you tell what was your routine I am struggling with same issue and I couldn’t do anything .. I used to cut my live skin and now it’s thick and cloudy around nails.. please help me
I can barely articulate my feelings right now. This has literally changed everything about how I will take care of my nails. I can't thank you enough for sharing and making this so easy to understand! Geez!!!
@@TheSalonLife The difference between my proximal nail fold and my cuticle! I've struggled with picking and biting around my nails since childhood and a few years ago took to bringing a nail kit with me everywhere to nip and "neaten" my cuticles instead of ripping them apart and turns out that's all I was doing anyway! When you showed the diagrams and did your little example I realized that what i was nipping was just creating a vicious cycle of an ugly, dry proximal fold that would drive me to nip and bother it even more creating more, essentially, scar tissue. Even when I would leave my nails alone for a while and my nail folds would look good, so many videos made it seem necessary to clip that bit of skin, calling it the 'cuticle', in order to get a clean looking manicure. So now, I'll just give them some rehab time and use my shea butter.
Never stop being the cuticle police! 😁❤️ By the way you are so good at explaining things.. it all makes so much sense! I literally feel like I attended a biology class after watching this video. You made me passionate about nails .. (yes I've been binge watching your videos for a week or so), and I just signed up for an official 8 month training to become a manicurist, here in the Netherlands. Thank you ❤
Before the era of influencers i learned most of my beauty info from magazines and while they were responsible enough to say “cutting your cuticles is bad” they never explained why and they never explained the difference between cuticles and proximal nail folds. So yeah it is life changing she moment you realize the difference!
Very impressive video. I’m a manicurist of 30 years in California and it’s very rare I hear other manicurists that understand basic nail structure. Here in California even 30 years ago we learned nail anatomy. The one thing I would highly recommend with this person is to come in and get a weekly manicure until I see she is on the right track. This has always been my logic with this type of damage, people need support. So this is obviously some habits she has formed and need to gradually stop and that takes time. So when a client comes in they feel a sense of obligation to perform well. They want to get better with undoing these habits. I think with her keeping it super simple with the Kerasal lotion & CND treatment and that’s it. Why because of the open skin and inflamed eponychium. See how that helps after a week and go from there. We truly are like the therapist (trying to help understand the behavior to help correct or improve it), and the manicurist. Also, not expecting miracles but slow and steady progress in the right direction. This could look like 4 steps forward and 2 steps back, but you’re still ahead 2 steps. You should totally do an update on this client…I so wish I could help her. 💕 Great job on this video ‼️
I enjoy a manicure, but I’ve never had one where they didn’t trim the nail fold. In fact the last one I had, they got quite carried away and I left with my nail fold bleeding. It was pretty painful. Plus, they NEVER get the nail shape right. NEVER. All I want is something natural that follows the shape of my nail bed. But I’ve only been happy a couple times. 🤦🏻♀️ Anyway, this video was super informative. I can take what I’ve learned and do it myself.
I learned so much and it makes so much sense now. Kinda angry that every salon that I have been to over the years have cut the skin around my nails. The industry needs to be more informed. Thank you for educating us 💕
Hi Dana! I agree but at the same time clients expect extreme "before and afters" and perfection without doing any home care. So that's why I think my videos are showing the consumers what's realistically achievable in 1 service and how important the daily care is.
Anna, please keep doing this series. You’re teaching us so much and it’s so very helpful!! Thank you 💝 (please never apologize for being so thorough - there is nothing extraneous here! We need to understand ALL of what you are sharing!)
Thanks to your videos I no longer cut my living skin! I have not had any long stretchy thick dry skin or hangnails since. It took about 10 weeks but with patience I am now enjoying beautiful “cuticles” people think I go to the salon to get perfect manicures but all I do is keep them oiled and push back the skin weekly. There’s hardly even anything to scrape off anymore. SO GRATEFUL! And… saving lots of time and money on nail treatment gimmicks😅
Wow I wish that I had seen this video 24 hrs prior to now. My nail skin is always doing this. I finally found time to put some poly gel nails on for the first time in like 8 years here at home. I manicured my nails prior to doing so and literally cut off all that white skin thinking it was cuticles. Never ever again. You've definitely changed my life. Thank you!!
Definitely something I’ve been working on for several years. I find when I go through really anxious/stressful times that unconscious picking habit comes back and my thumbs look like this and worse. Diligent manicures, a quick clean with blue cross rather than going crazy with cutters, and lots of moisturizing oils/lotions within reach when I find myself picking have helped. Car, desk, coffee table, night stand. For hangnails I carefully trim and use liquid bandage to help it from catching or tearing further and keeping it clean.
Your knowledge and ability to share what I need to know about caring for my nails has given me courage to begin nail self-care. I’ve had gel and dip powder for about 20 years because I’ve always had soft/weak nails that easily peel and break, and terrible “cuticles” (which I now know is living skin) and actual cuticle that extends onto my nails. I’ve decided to try natural nails and see how they are (I’m 73). I had the dip removed at the salon and have suffered through the weeks of growing out the damaged nail. This included split and sore skin around the nails. I’m finally past that stage, and wish I could find a nail tech with the care and knowledge that you have. I’ve only seen techs being not gentle about pushing back the cuticle and too quick about trimming the skin. Thank you SO much for sharing proper and careful nail, cuticle, and skin care. I now feel confident that I can do this on my own because of your tutorage.
Wow! This is so helpful! I didn’t realize there was a difference between the cuticle and the skin around the nail. The skin near my cuticles is hard, so I pick at it which causes it to stay hard to protect itself. A never ending situation. This makes so much sense. Thank you very much!
I’m so glad I found your channel! I’m on the journey officially today to healing my pnf! No more trimming! I had no idea what I had learned was totally wrong and actually doing more harm than good. Just hoping that with patience and time my pnf can heal and be healthy again
Another great session, Professor Anna! 🏫 I’m so glad I took your advice to heart (and hands 😏) back in 2020 because my nails are now in a much better state than they have ever been!! These refresher courses help steel my resolve to keep doing better, particularly when I’m tempted by those pesky nippers! 😜
You know, nippers are sometimes necessary. If you have a snag it’s better to cut it than pull the skin and do some major damage. But that’s about it :)
So thankful your video was suggested on my home page. You did such a great job educating us and explaining everything. I’m not a professional but am a nail enthusiast & have learned to do my own at home. This information is so valuable and important to keep our natural nails/skin healthy even if we choose to enjoy nail enhancements. Please continue to make videos like this. Blessings to you! 🙂
I appreciate the scientific approach and thorough explanation you gave in this video!! I've been struggling with torn-up skin around my nails for years. After watching this, I went out and bought a nail oil, hand cream, and kerasal ointment. 24 hours later, my hands are looking SO much better and healthier. This video is quite literally life-changing. Thank you!!!
This is so useful. Great to give people the science behind this and dispel myths that abound about cuticle and nail care. Your mission should save nails!!! Well done
Thank you Ruth! No wonder that there is so much confusion because the information out there is very scarse and doesn’t make much sense. Thanks to Doug Schoon’s hard work and research now it makes so much more sense
I NEVER watch nail vids, but THIS was SO informative! I love this series and you are now my go-to nail guru. I'm a jeweler with very "challenged" nails. Thanks for this channel. ❤️👍
This video is worth watching a few times. Never saw anyone to treat this topic in such an easy way. I applied the cream while watching the video, and right away my skin feels much better. I will keep my cerave by my desk from now on. Thank you.
I so appreciate your commitment to the science of this! I’ve been getting into self-nail care for about a year but until I found your channel I was still confused about how to properly and safely care for my “cuticle.” The Olive and June method is the closest to what you’ve taught me - they suggest just push back your cuticle and moisturize and buff the lower nail but the skin around my nails just wasn’t looking great and I needed to know the what and the why. Because I didn’t have regular nail care before, I did have that stretching of the proximal nail fold onto the nails a bit and I would just infrequently push it back and end up with a lot of raggedy pieces around the nail. After watching your videos it all finally clicked! I now regularly push back the proximal nail fold, all the time! And moisturize with oil and/or lotion every single time I get my hands wet as Anna suggests then once a week I remove the ACTUAL tiny bit of cuticle from the nail with an orange stick or scraper. And finally my nails look so pretty, healthy and amazing. Now I’m trying a dimethyl urea based strengthener (Olive and June) to try to grow them a little longer. Thank you Anna! Side note, I use the same Shaka fluide LRP sunscreen as you I order it from Europe to US because it’s the best sunscreen in the world. That and Riemann P20 Suncare for Kids.
I'm learning the correct way to care for my natural nails from your vids and I decided to sub.💚 Your nails are very nicely manicured, clean and healthy looking. 😊
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS INFORMATION! I will never ever cut my nail folds again. No matter how badly I want to while I wait until they repair themselves😀
Thank you so much! I’ve been trying to have “good nails” for awhile, but I’ve always had bad “cuticles,” which I now know is the wrong term, as well as hangnails, torn skin, and nails that are weak and tear like paper. Earlier this year, I had 2 sets of acrylics done. The first set was removed by the nail tech literally sliding a sharp tool under the acrylic and popping them off, which shredded my nails. The second set was removed with soaking and e-filing, and then she asked if I wanted her to buff them and I said yes. 🤦♀️ Disaster. I’ve been wearing glue-on and stick-on nails ever since, but the skin around my nails has been getting worse and worse, so today I decided to look for videos about how to have healthy cuticles and here you are! Instant subscriber, and I’ve learned so much already!! My Amazon cart is overflowing with new products. 😬 Do you know anything about the Rescue Rxx being unavailable? There’s none in the link you gave or on Amazon. I’m hoping to try it soon! Thank you for this wonderful content!!
Wow, turns out I don't have cuticles and my issue is with the PNF 😮 Why is it then that a lot of nail technicians cut my PNF?? I am slightly horrified and angry. My PNF is so dry, ragged and torn and splits easily, catching on all sorts of things. Thank God I have found your channel. Starting my journey to nicer nails at 59 yrs old ☺️
🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 Thank you so much for this information! I had no idea about the different between the proximal nail fold and the cuticle. Now it makes perfect sense why I’ve struggled so much with the skin around my nails being ragged and unhealthy. No matter what I did, the skin (what I thought was cuticle) just grew back harder and thicker. And in my quest to get rid of what I thought was the cuticle, I’ve probably been damaging the unexposed growing nail which then would explain why my nails grow out to be thin and easily broken.
recently had an infected nail get out of hand b/c of a hangnail (due to dry pnf) & ur videos are a lifesaver 🙏🙏 i'm going to try out your method & hope to see some promising results!
So happy to see this, you often only see 'perfect' nails where problems are solved on, and when you have rough working hands like me its just not comparible
Everything you have said about living skin makes perfect sense. A long time ago before having my first pedicure I never had issues with callouses. I noticed after I had a pedicure that I started forming callouses. So naturally I thought I have to remove those callouses with a foot file. It is a never ending cycle. But I’m going to try your advice with my fingernails because I’m guilty of cutting the living skin but I’m also going to try regular maintenance with the soles of my feet too and see what happens.
Thank you so much for generously sharing your knowledge with everyone! I have been doing my nails for…. forever, and I literally had NO idea I was causing more harm than good by buffing (a lot)! I never knew what a cuticle really was, amazing eye opener! I am learning so much from your videos! Thank you!!
Nanax7, Thank you so much for your donation to the channel. We really appreciate it! We're really happy to know that you are benefiting our channels content. We wish you all the best in your nail journey :) - Anna/MSL
Outstanding video, Anna! Please keep such educational nail/skin analysis videos coming, I find each one of them fascinating for so many different reasons and have identified what used to happen to my nails and why. You've taught me everything I know about nail/hand care and I have the sweet looking nails and healthy, pain-free skin to prove it. I'm also quite sure you're the only nail expert on UA-cam who provides research-based instruction like you do. Thank you for the thorough explanations of care and helpful products. Kerasal is my absolute favorite product for use on both my hands and feet at night and I wouldn't have understood the usefulness of good oils and occlusive treatment like I now do without you and MSL.
I really enjoyed this presentation. I found it very interesting. I always pushed back my p.. fold and watching your videos has made me realise that I need to let this fold grow again. So this video will, hopefully, advise me what to do to allow it to grow. Thank you Anna
You are truly my hero. I don’t mean to sound too dramatic but this is ✨life changing✨!!! You made everything make perfect sense. Thank you so much! 36:46 I am sending this to everyone!💕
Anna, never apologize for your passion! What a wealth of information. I hope this person takes your advice, my nails have never been as healthy as they are since I met you! Thank you for everything you do, your passion is inspiring
So good! Thanks for the video. I have also very dry nails, so your tips are super helpful. Your product recommendations are quite affordable and accessible as well
Great video! I love Doug Schoon, but I think you explained things better. I used to be a chronic nail biter, but now I'm bad to take that energy out on my PNF - constantly scratching on it, tugging at the dry skin there, etc. = so moisturizing is my friend.
I looked at the length of this video and said “NO!” I click on and finally it all made sense. Thank you. All I could add is stop buying fruit scented crap from that mall store.
How fascinating! I didn’t know any of this information. I started searching how to repair ugly nails and this was one of my YT search results. My goal is to stop biting the skin around my nails. I’ll then reward myself with a salon manicure. I’m making progress but not there yet. I will add, the lockdown years of using hand sanitizer multiple times daily wreaked havoc on my hands and nails. Trying to moisturize my hands as well.
Hi Anna, I just wanted to thank you for all of the information that you are sharing. I used to cut my proximal nail fold skin and was very addicted to nippers. After watching a couple of you videos, I put it away and started applying oil very frequently and started to remove cuticle with the remover. And guess what? My nails have never been looking so good. It's been a couple of weeks now that I started this new nail routine and I'm noticing that the skin is shrinking. So again thank you so much.
Thank you so much, so kind of you to say this Manuel :) This information is quite new, so I'm not surprised. This didn't make sense to me since the beginning of my career. Doug Schoon spent lots of time in the last couple of years researching this and it finally makes sense so this is exciting:)
04/20/23 sending many thanks for this video!!! You’re channel has helped me so very much!! Please keep making videos and saving nails around the world!!❤❤❤
That's why I don't go to salon for manicure. Almost all of nail "specialists" don't even know the nail anatomy, the function of every part of the nail. They work with it every day and haven't even think to look for basic anatomy... My nails are fine, I just cut them once in a while. Now I ordered a file and a nail polish base to thicken them a little bit since it pisses me off when they soften after I wash something in a water.
I’ve been suffering with hand nail issues for five years now. No nail technician or Dr. (regular or dermatologist) has given me any real help. I’m so grateful to have fallen upon your channel and received this valuable information. Finally I have found a path forward to healthier nails. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! 💞
Your video popped for me today and I couldn’t be happier to hear your passion for nail anatomy. I suffer with hang nails, and terrible cuticles. I push them back, trim only when I need to and nothing fixes it. I am a nurse and the hand sanitizer is killing my skin
I’m new to your channel, wanted to say thank you , it is such an Important lesson! I have very sensitive nails and manicurist always damaged my nails , and now I know why… and because of you , I’m thinking of doing it myself. Sending you lots of love and appreciation!!
I never knew exactly what the cuticle is and I am 74. I think dry skin makes the cuts and tears in the skin worse and then I pick at or chew them. New info....new treatment. Thank you.
Fantastic visual explanation of the way cuticle is formed, absolutely loved it (also the remark of the chicken breast 🤣) So good of you to put all this sience based information out here for free! After watching this video, I went over to Patreon to support your channel.😄👍
Finally, someone who explained what is happening to my nails and skin around the nails!!! Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you for the list of recommended products to help.
What a FANTASTIC video!!! You gave us some wonderful information and I love how you took the time to explain everything! Some things I knew but many I did not, so this was very helpful to me. I take great care of my nails but at certain times of the year I will have these issue of dry skin and will sometimes result in the skin tearing. Thank you so much for the recommendations of how to begin treating these problems and what products and/or chemicals to avoid. I will definitely be sharing this video with my "nail buddies" and anyone else that I know that have encountered these issues. THANK YOU again such a wonderful informative video!!
Kerasal is a game changer! I have tried all kinds of lotions & creams - I apply this product at bedtime - not too much, and the skin around my nails is completely healed - I’d say within 2 weeks. Not kidding!
I am a notorious nail picker. It also doesn't help that I have nail eczema which develops hard/scaly skin I love picking at. Have been following your advice. So simple (requires dedication though!). It has changed my world. My nails are so much better now and it has only been 2 weeks. Thank you.
Oh my gosh, so much knowledge shared here - thank you! I’ve struggled all my life with very thin nails and now that I’m older they are so very dry. I was glad to see that I already do some of the things you suggested - adding back oil and moisture after every hand- washing mainly, but I will try adding some other hydrating products at night. Thank you!
May I ask, when you show pictures of your nails, often you have on a pale, shimmery almost nudish pink color. Would you mind telling what that is? It looks beautiful on your nails and is the nice natural look I'm going for. Again, can't thank you enough for these videos! I am committed to never letting a nail tech cut my proximal fold again! I do all my own cuticle removing at home now and oil and push back my proximal fold on a regular basis 😁
Thank you for this, it was super informative. What would you recommend for peeling nails that look see through when there's no polish on them? I have this issue on only two, three of my fingernails, the rest are good, so I don't think it's anything I'm doing right now. I oil my nails multiple times a day, keep them polished etc and this issue only happens on a few nails, which also happen to be bendier than the others and always grow out with a weird snag under one side of the nail which I assume is nailplate damage, but I don't remember ever having any injury to these nails.
Thanks for this teaching video. I better understand my nails and the care needed. My nails look similar to the pictures you were showing. Thanks again, much of what you talked about i had never heard.
I recently had a big wake-up call after doing my own Russian manicures for a few years. I loved the "clean" look but my cuticles were always sensitive, I always had little abrasions even though I was careful with the drill. I had begun to notice some changes in my nails over the past year too- I had tons of little ridges and dents from where I accidentally hit my nail plate with the drill, along with spots on my thumbnails that always split and crack on the free edge. I was having to do the Russian manicures at least every week cause my cuticles would grow back rough and hard after a few days, I had spots on several cuticles that almost felt callused. I had deep horizontal ridges along with vertical ridges that seemed to be growing out from under the cuticle and my lunulas had grown bigger and looked distorted. I've got genetically good nails but they looked absolutely awful and were SO dry despite how well I took care of them(or so I thought). I thought my problems were from getting older since I'm in my 40s now, then I read about proximal nail folds and eponychiums. I was horrified to learn that I've been drilling and cutting away living skin for years and my cuticle "care" may have permanently damaged my nail matrix. Huge OMG moment. I put my e-file away in the back of my closet and switched to pushing back my cuticles, using blue cross remover, only trimming off actual dead skin and hangnails, and using lots of lotion and oils. This is the first time in _years_ that none of my fingers hurt. It'll take a few months to see if I've done any permanent damage, but it's only been a week and I've noticed a HUGE improvement already so I have hope 🙏
It's been 6 months. Are you still following her recommendations? How are your nails now? It's so hard for me not to use my cuticle nippers on the rough and ragged skin!!
This was incredibly helpful, thank you! It’s crazy that I never knew any of this. I’ve bitten my nails my whole life and stopped a few months ago (I’m 34). As they grew out, I thought I had a short nail bed, weird cuticles, etc. Watching your videos I learned a gentle way to take care of my nails every day. My nail beds are actually longer. My cuticles no longer become overgrown. It absolutely blows my mind. I’m curious - what is your opinion on Dazzle Dry vs regular Polish? I know it’s a better option than gel Polish, but do you think it’s healthier than using regular Polish? Thank you again for everything you post! This is life changing for me, as I think this understanding will inspire me to care for my nails. Until now my only motivation to stop biting was appearance. But now I’m thinking more about finger and skin health than I ever have before.
I really appreciate your videos and wisdom. How is someone like me able to get your advice and send a photo of my nail concern. Again this very informative. Thank you.
Thanks so much, Anna. This has to be one of the most interesting and informative videos I have seen in a long time. So refreshing to have someone genuinely care about skin and nail health, rather than causing damage to look 'on trend'. I'll be looking into your treatment recommendations for my own nails, as well as my son's, who unfortunately bites his nails and the surrounding skin. If you have any habit breaking remedies, that would be welcomed, too!! Once again, thank you. I'm liking and subscribing.
This is the best explanation of what is cuticle and what is not. I wish they had taught us this way in school. Thank you It is ao much easier to identify the cuticle now.
I am like mind blown with how informative this is. I have been trying to rid my life of acrylics & dip (which I have in the past year) but want I truly want is just my natural nails and since they are so weak & fragile that I’ve been getting gel manicures for the past year thinking that is was the lesser of evils. It’s hasn’t worked & it’s way too much upkeep. I came to your channel to learn about how to healthily get my nails where they should be. I’m still trying to figure out that exact way but I know for sure that I will start to do some of the treatments you speak of and to let the natural nail breath. Where I’m stuck is will product like DD stunt my journey? Or should I just stick with 1 coat of top coat? I would like to have something on my nail but maybe I need to just treat them and leave them alone until they start to heal then do something like DD. Anyone’s guidance would be appreciated. Ps thank you for mentioning to no hardeners!!!!
Thank you so much for this info! I have paid so much money over the years to manicurists who would not listen to me about 'cutting' the cuticle! I had to start doing my own nails due to 'hangnails', cuts, and irregular skin growth. You are a breath of fresh air!
Fantastic video! Invaluable information!! Now I understand!!!!! 😃 Thank you!! 🤗🙏🏻 Side note: if you use the brand 'Vaseline', it is triple purified & non comodegenic. It's also vegan & cruelty (one of the very few products by Uni-Lever that is!!). Whenever I massage a blob of it into my hands & nail skin at night & put gloves on, my hands look soooooooo MUCH better the next day! 😃
I am so grateful for your videos! After only 2 weeks of using a nail oil and CeraVe lotion regularly, I already see improvement. Your explanations are excellent.
Thank you for your advice it all made so much sense and was so easy to understand. Are you saying that if we want to have gel nails or shellac manicure we shouldn't buff the top layer. So many sites say that the gel will lift if we dont dehydrate and buff. X
There is a buff and there is a buff. Removing the shine is one thing, removing half the nail plate with a buffer over time is another. There is no need to buff nails for regular polish. Gel polish should be only used by trained professionals. I see too many horrible, painful and debilitating allergic reactions to these products that I don't recommend these products unless someone has a specific training in how to use these products and knows chemistry behind these products and knows exactly how the allergic reactions happen (so they know how to avoid them).

I can barely articulate my feelings right now. This has literally changed everything about how I will take care of my nails. I can't thank you enough for sharing and making this so easy to understand!
Geez!!!
Wow, thank you so much for your comment! You honestly made my day! ❤️. What was the thing that surprised you the most?
@@TheSalonLife The difference between my proximal nail fold and my cuticle! I've struggled with picking and biting around my nails since childhood and a few years ago took to bringing a nail kit with me everywhere to nip and "neaten" my cuticles instead of ripping them apart and turns out that's all I was doing anyway!

Even when I would leave my nails alone for a while and my nail folds would look good, so many videos made it seem necessary to clip that bit of skin, calling it the 'cuticle', in order to get a clean looking manicure.
So now, I'll just give them some rehab time and use my shea butter.
@ElleDeas - your story is my story 🌸 The Salon Life is out here saving souls, giving hope 🕊
I can’t believe it! I thought I just had “bad cuticles” I’ve been fighting this issue for years. THANK YOU!
Right?!😀
Never stop being the cuticle police! 😁❤️
By the way you are so good at explaining things.. it all makes so much sense! I literally feel like I attended a biology class after watching this video. You made me passionate about nails .. (yes I've been binge watching your videos for a week or so), and I just signed up for an official 8 month training to become a manicurist, here in the Netherlands. Thank you ❤
Thank you so much! Best of luck with your training course! :)
Before the era of influencers i learned most of my beauty info from magazines and while they were responsible enough to say “cutting your cuticles is bad” they never explained why and they never explained the difference between cuticles and proximal nail folds. So yeah it is life changing she moment you realize the difference!
Thanks Miya!
Anyway, this video was super informative. I can take what I’ve learned and do it myself.
@@wendyhutchinson457 Same here!
Next time write a book ok?
Thank you. I have struggled with my “cuticles” my whole life. This was most informative and helpful. Knowledge is power. 😉
Brilliant video and well explained. I now know where I'm going wrong
💯 but less is more for me: once I get started, it’s hard to quit while I’m ahead 😉
You're so welcome!
Thanks again, Anna, for all the education you offer your viewers❣️❣️❣️
Thank you Gale! I’m so happy that there is an interest 🥰
Your excellent analogies throughout this video show that you're highly intelligent and very gifted at teaching. Thank you.
You are very welcome! Thank you very much for your comment. That was very kind of you to say! ❤️
This video is worth watching a few times. Never saw anyone to treat this topic in such an easy way. I applied the cream while watching the video, and right away my skin feels much better. I will keep my cerave by my desk from now on. Thank you.
Omg Anna! You are a nail educator goddess! I absolutely love this series, learning so much. Cheers from Toronto 🇨🇦
Do you know anything about the Rescue Rxx being unavailable? There’s none in the link you gave or on Amazon. I’m hoping to try it soon!
Thank you for this wonderful content!!
Wow, turns out I don't have cuticles and my issue is with the PNF 😮 Why is it then that a lot of nail technicians cut my PNF?? I am slightly horrified and angry. My PNF is so dry, ragged and torn and splits easily, catching on all sorts of things. Thank God I have found your channel. Starting my journey to nicer nails at 59 yrs old ☺️
YES. I am 63. Why didn’t I know this?!?
The best, most informative video. article I've ever watched or read about nails, "cuticles"!! Thank you, thank you!
Thank you for suggesting Kerasol. I am experiencing wonderful results by using it every night on my nails and skin. ❤
Glad to read Teenya
You are truly my hero. I don’t mean to sound too dramatic but this is ✨life changing✨!!! You made everything make perfect sense. Thank you so much!
36:46 I am sending this to everyone!💕
Anna, never apologize for your passion! What a wealth of information. I hope this person takes your advice, my nails have never been as healthy as they are since I met you! Thank you for everything you do, your passion is inspiring
So good! Thanks for the video. I have also very dry nails, so your tips are super helpful. Your product recommendations are quite affordable and accessible as well
Thank you so much! Yes, you don’t need to spend a lot of money to have a solid skincare
That was the most interesting video on UA-cam. Thank you so much. Look forward to checking the next.
These videos are soooooo helpful,
This video was so helpful! These photos could be my nails. Thank you so much for the detailed information!
Extremely helpful, thank you for doing this highly educational video.
Th al you kindly!
I have to say, I taught nail technology for 15yrs and have never heard of anyone exposing the functions of the cuticle as you did.
Thank you so much, so kind of you to say this Manuel :) This information is quite new, so I'm not surprised. This didn't make sense to me since the beginning of my career. Doug Schoon spent lots of time in the last couple of years researching this and it finally makes sense so this is exciting:)
Fabulous, amazing, educational video!! I’ve been doing EVERYTHING wrong.
Great information! I love your passion. I am seeing improvement from your advice & daily care.
04/20/23 sending many thanks for this video!!! You’re channel has helped me so very much!! Please keep making videos and saving nails around the world!!❤❤❤
Hello Angela! Thank you so much for your kind words! So happy my video helped :))
This is wonderful information. I didn't know any of this and I have never heard it anywhere else.
Incredible information!! Thank you so much for making these videos. I wanted to send my photos but you are answering my questions already! ❤️🙌
Thanks for sharing your knowledge in such a helpful way
This is absolutely fascinating. I’m loving your nail health series. Thank you so much for the education. 👏👏👍
These videos are very informative. Thank you so much
Im from Poland. You do good job. Thank you❤❤
Dziekuje :))
Finally, someone who explained what is happening to my nails and skin around the nails!!! Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you for the list of recommended products to help.
Thank you so much Amy!! I'm glad the info helped :))
So glad to have found your channel 💅👏🏻
What a FANTASTIC video!!! You gave us some wonderful information and I love how you took the time to explain everything! Some things I knew but many I did not, so this was very helpful to me. I take great care of my nails but at certain times of the year I will have these issue of dry skin and will sometimes result in the skin tearing. Thank you so much for the recommendations of how to begin treating these problems and what products and/or chemicals to avoid. I will definitely be sharing this video with my "nail buddies" and anyone else that I know that have encountered these issues. THANK YOU again such a wonderful informative video!!
so glad to have found this video--thank you--exactly how my nails look for my 43yrs old self--stop cutting them and oil them
Hi Liza! You can do it :) Please take some before and after pictures and share with us :))
Kerasal is a game changer! I have tried all kinds of lotions & creams - I apply this product at bedtime - not too much, and the skin around my nails is completely healed - I’d say within 2 weeks. Not kidding!
Wow! Kerasal for your cuticles? This is brilliant!
I am a notorious nail picker. It also doesn't help that I have nail eczema which develops hard/scaly skin I love picking at. Have been following your advice. So simple (requires dedication though!). It has changed my world. My nails are so much better now and it has only been 2 weeks. Thank you.
Glad I just happened upon on this video and I am so glad I did. Learned some very useful info.
Thank you!
You are wonderful and do a fantastic job explaining this stuff! Please keep posting those great videos!!!! ♥️
Thank you so much!
I have a bit of the flaky nail ends, arg, thank you for your video!
Ohhhhhhhhh! The moon is visible nail matrix!!!! I did not know that. I’ve always wondered!
Thanks for this teaching video. I better understand my nails and the care needed. My nails look similar to the pictures you were showing. Thanks again, much of what you talked about i had never heard.
Glad it was helpful!
The diagrams and labeled photos are so helpful!
Another brilliant video Anna! Such clear and useful advice.
Thank you Jo! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you.
Hi Kristen, Feel free to send your photos/nail concern to thesalonlife@gmail.com. Thanks! - MSL
Great demo. I had no idea that the proximal fold is not my cuticle.
Fantastic video. I've saved it. Thanks.
Excellent info, and easy to understand!
I had my own "Ah Ha!" moment while watching this video! Thank you
This is the best explanation of what is cuticle and what is not.
Side note: if you use the brand 'Vaseline', it is triple purified & non comodegenic. It's also vegan & cruelty (one of the very few products by Uni-Lever that is!!). Whenever I massage a blob of it into my hands & nail skin at night & put gloves on, my hands look soooooooo MUCH better the next day! 😃
I love this series!!! So helpful!
Glad you think so!
So glad I found you!
Thank you!
I am so grateful for your videos! After only 2 weeks of using a nail oil and CeraVe lotion regularly, I already see improvement. Your explanations are excellent.
Thank you so much Mary! I’m so happy that you are seeing progress! Keep at it and be consistent. It’s incredible the difference gentle nail care does!
Her nails could he mine. This is so helpful, thank you.
You’re welcome 😊
Thank you for your advice it all made so much sense and was so easy to understand. Are you saying that if we want to have gel nails or shellac manicure we shouldn't buff the top layer. So many sites say that the gel will lift if we dont dehydrate and buff. X
There is a buff and there is a buff. Removing the shine is one thing, removing half the nail plate with a buffer over time is another.
There is no need to buff nails for regular polish.
Gel polish should be only used by trained professionals. I see too many horrible, painful and debilitating allergic reactions to these products that I don't recommend these products unless someone has a specific training in how to use these products and knows chemistry behind these products and knows exactly how the allergic reactions happen (so they know how to avoid them).
gosh i have been doing it all wrong! no wonder i have issues. now i know i can do better. thankyou so much.
You are very welcome Anastasia! Glad the video helped :))
