Sky Hides/Hanging Hides in Zen Habitats

- Our snakes use elevated and hanging hides a lot but they’re typically designed to screw into the ceilings of PVC, wood, or solid top enclosures. We have several Zen Habitats and since the metal bars that run across the top and underneath the screen are designed to hang fixtures or lizard nets from, I decided to see how it worked to attach elevated hides to them. So far it’s working really well!

Hi Lori, in the UK we don't have the sky hide brackets. With your SPI study, I wondered what alternative you will be using? Thank you
I am sending the brackets to the UK researchers. There are three companies in the US that make them. I also know at least one person who 3-D prints his own. There are other ways to attack sky hides though, in used screws and then for screen tops I have used zip ties. I have done some videos about that.
Great videos! I was wondering if you have used Zen Habitats for Ryder or TC. I heard retics are notorious for nose rubbing on screens and to avoid using them, but could that be because they are bored or not having what they need? Thank you!
Thank you. Yes, TC has lived in a Zen Habitat for at least two years. I have made a few videos showing his enclosure and the various features. He recently moved into an open-air wire enclosure in my office. No matter what type of enclosure he is in, he wants out. That is typical of Retics, they are active and freedom is an important resource to them.

What dimensions is your large hide for the reptilebasics skyhide? I see some one Amazon but they all have different dimensions and be off by an inch for “large” sizes
I use two sizes which I think are called large and extra large. I also now get the hide hangers with them and is tall those so I can slide the boxes in and out. www.reptilebasics.com/hide-boxes/large-hide-box-10-pack/

Can I ask what type of shelf you used? I can’t do the hanging hide because there are only two support bars on my enclosure.
What type of enclosure do you have? I have placed sky hides in a few brands with screen tops. Also, are you asking about a specific shelf or in general?
@@LoriTorrini I have the Dubai Roaches/ Reptile Habitats 4x2x2. The shelf used in the beginning of the video is something I’m interested in adding to my snake’s enclosure, but everything I’ve found looked to be too big or too small.
My ball python keeps finding his way to the bars in my Zen Habitat. It's not somewhere that I want him to get stuck especially if I'm not home. Do you have any tips for how to get him to stop going up there? This kind of hide might work for him I just don't want him to get stuck💀
Is he squishing between the bars? Mine climb up to that area but can’t fit between the bars and the screen. Be sure to provide thing Sun there safe to climb in line sky hides, perches, ledges or nets.
how is humidity in those ?
I provide humid hides which create humid microclimates so I don’t worry about it or even take readings of the ambient humidity.

What size hide box is this? Large or extra large?
I use large and extra large which are about 13x9 or 16x11. I am also now using his hangers with them so I can slide them in and out.
