IDECH Power Rotary Scissors, Are They Over-hyped or a Great Lawn Tool?

- This is my review of the IDECH/Stens Power Rotary Scissors. I first saw these on the Lawn Tips channel as a landscape blade and started a long research endeavor to see if they were of high quality and value. The Idech or Stens brand continued to come up to the top of the list, so I purchased one and here are the results.
Stens 385-581 Power Rotary Scissors is the new name as they have replaced the Idech ASK-MW23 that I purchased.

I love mine. There is a little learning curve but it makes my life easier.
I got these back in July...absolutely imperative for mowing low
And I need a couple of those stickers!
They really are a great addition to a lawn care program. I don't have my stickers/merch together yet but hoping to some things together before the end of the year as a token of appreciation for subscribers and viewers. I'll let you know so that I can get one over to you.
How do you order the blade and the motor as a whole? Do I need to find someone that speaks Japanese to order it as a whole? I just don't want to but just the head.
Yes,I also agree very awesome piece to have in your lawn game👍 second set for me💯💥💣
I love it! I first saw it on Lawn Tips channel and started my research. Have you tried any of the other blade sets/sizes?
@@smallsouthernlawn6909 nice! I have had the bigger blade for brush clearing untill my tool got stolen from the back of my work truck while giving a estimate. But other then that it seems to do the same just the opening on the teeth.
New sub here. I have my eyes on it but havent pulled the trigger just yet. That would be perfect right now to cut the edges of my new reno out front. Kill me to keep a low cut and then beat it up with a weed whacker. Nice job putting you video together.
Thank you for the complement. It's an investment and I'd recommend waiting until you can find a $300 or less deal. It might only be a savings of $10-$30 but that is money you can put toward your next bag of fertilizer or pre-emergent.
nice job!
Good video, i can see the positives in this but also the negatives. First is price, thats a lot of string replacement. Second is you cant clean up weeds or grass growing in cracks or or stress joints in sidewalks. The real truth is it doesnt do anything more than a string does except cost alot more money. The upkeep on sharpening and greasing seems like it would be a pain and really its not much different than just putting a regular cutting blade on your weedeater and that cost $35 . I can see where some could see it to be efficient for them but from my point of view, i cant justify the cost.. Thanks for your view on the product and i hope it works well for you though...
Thanks for the feedback on you thoughts of this product. I'm actually finally able to get back to doing videos and was planning on doing a "1 year later follow-up" on these. I'm not sure it will be what everyone is expecting because I'll be bringing up a few of the points that you did.
How well does it trim the against the wooden fence?
It’s always the biggest issue in my yard.
Thanks 🤘🏼
For me it does the job as good as the string trimmer did previously. I have a few boards that have warped at the bottom and that causes a little more of an issue but if you have a straight fence line, I think it would be a good tool for the job.
What type/model trimmer do you use with the rotary scissors?
I’m currently using a Kobalt 80V trimmer that I’ve had for a few years. These IDECH heads should attach to most straight shaft trimmers. It comes with a few adapters to accommodate the most “normal” drive shaft configurations.
Thank you, nice setup 👍
Have you ever used it in tall thick grass, blackberry or thick brush?
I haven't tried that yet. Not much of that around my house but when I go over to my friends house to help out, I'll give that a shot. I know that they have different blade sets for this system and I think there is one made for thicker grass and light brush.
Does this work with Ryobi?
This video may help more with that question. I know they work on many different platforms. ua-cam.com/video/yyLRyKmYNLY/v-deo.html
as soon as i heard three hundred dollars and have to sharpen the blades, i said nope, not me, my electric string trimmer can do it better and cheaper, and no blade sharpening needed. lol lol
