    Looks really fun, right up my street.
    The issues that people have a problem with with electric bikes is real but not as bad as electric cars and it is what it is,
    No point keeping up the same old arguments.
    I will be getting one once they are in my price range.

    I really want one of these. My riding is very occasional these days and just pleasure riding at that. I love how quiet they are when you are around wildlife and people. You can get away with riding in places you would not with a gas motor running. One of the big advantages is that if you are a person whose bike sits a lot, you don't have any of the bad fuel issues to deal with.

    The FX/FXS/FXE come as 3.6 and 7.2 versions (the latter also available with two removable 3.6 batteries). The DS and S comes as 7.2 and 14.4 models, plus you can add an extra 3.6 with the Power Tank. Peak power output is 27hp for the 3.6, 44-46hp for the 7.2, and 59hp for the 14.4. The availability of certain models varies by year and country. Peak power output is the same on "11kw" models as well as the unrestricted ones, continuous output is what varies (as well as a lower top speed on the 11kw models" and you won't notice it unless you're sitting at a high speed for an extended period, acceleration will be identical.
    EDIT: Actually the FXE can't come with the 3.6 packs (single or double), despite being an otherwise identical bike the plastics wouldn't allow it.

      As I understand it the temperature sensor on the BMS for lowering the power output when getting to hot, has a lower setting on the 11kW model. You can with the resellers Zero-obd-tool change the value in the settings and voila, you have full power.
      I have a FX7,2 and I absolute love it! I’m 173cm (30” inseem) and have no problem what so ever with the seathight. For those who think the hight is an issue with the FX.

  • @AaronCocker

    The CBT legal 11kW versions of these bike have a similar peak power to the full power bikes, the continuous power is the things that's limited to 11kW, but that's only for continuous throttle for over 30 minutes, it you dip to zero it resets the timer again.

    A 21 up front isn't quite as sticky in a corner as a supermoto with a street tire up front, but they turn in quick and off road they are more agile when going over obstacles. I've run my 690R KTM as a supermoto and with the 21 and because I do a fair amount of dirt, I prefer the 21, but the supermoto front sticks like velcro on asphalt, more confidence inspiring.

    When you were filtering because the bike is silent and car drivers as we know are not looking for bikes they couldn't hear it either. They don't know your there until you appear next to them. Watched a video about the scummy practises this company does, they lock battery percentage, heated grips, fast charging features (all which are already on the bike) behind a paywall. I will never buy a zero motorcycle, I'll wait for other companies to make better products for a cheaper price. Zero are literally the apple of the motorcycle world.

    • @FlyingFun.
      @FlyingFun. 2 роки тому +3

      Yeah I watched that video yesterday, I was thinking of getting a second hand zero to save some dosh but reading through the comments I noticed customer service and reliability seemed poor.
      One guy had his bike 2 years and it was in the shop for 8 months out the 24 months he had it and although it was fixed under warantee the repairs were serious faults that would cost thousands to fix out of warantee so I'll give zero a miss.
      Like you say cheaper more reliable options will come.
      I still like the idea of electric bikes and have a few ebikes that I bought and a couple I built up from old bikes and kits.
      Those have all been solid for the last 2 years because they are very simple.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  2 роки тому +3

      I mentioned this in one of my videos on the FXE. Yes to start with but it's not the sound it's not having gears that you know so well that the braking distance is obvious to you. When you are just on the brakes you really need to know how they will react and then you have to take conditions in to account, tho the ABS really helps with this.

    Please keep reviewing as many electric bikes as you can 👍
    On the subject of regen, I think you're underestimating the potential a little. For example there's no need for a rear brake. If the motor can make the wheel break traction on acceleration then it can do it on deceleration easier. Loss of traction is the limit on braking force.
    You didn't dwell on regen, especially how controllable it is on the throttle, the ability to modulate. The energy lost to aero drag can't be recovered, but on acceleration, by definition, a lot of energy is spent on forces to overcome inertia rather than aero, up to say 50mph. So a fair amount of energy is there for the taking on deceleration.
    Cheers 😁

      As for regen yes there is power there in potentia but the real world reality is very little usable charge is recovered with the current tech.

      My biggest issue with people on e-bikes and e-scooters is they don't have any insurance and if they do get into an accident they will pretty much get fucked over, If the accident is your fault and you have no insurance, you are personally responsible for damages to people in the other car and their property. So depending the damages it could be up to 10,000$ for repairs to their vehicle and not only that even more repairs to your e-bike scooter thing. Mountain bike e-bikes are cool and my dad owns a Trek EX-E and he wouldn't be able to keep up with me on the trails if he didn't but you aren't going to see those on the road. With that being said, own a e-bike and e-scooter cool, but you should at the very least if you are going to drive it like a motorcycle then your going to need license and insurance especially because you know... nobody wants to spend thousands of dollars to repair someone elses vehicle and then yours?

Here almost every “feature” is an up charge to the point you can almost double the “list price” of the bike just to get it properly “switched on”. I hear what you’re saying about just reviewing it for what it is, but at some point it would be good to get your take/fair for you to give it on English Electric’s subscription model where you buy a bike that already comes with the physical kit and capability to give you extended range, quick charge, heated grips, etc, and the “owner’s” only alternative is to pay up for the full fat factory feature price rather than doing his/her own research and engineering to achieve the solution.

I also don't get the fanatical "all ev bikes are rubbish" thing from "petrol heads", they are just different... I get they don't want one.... but they seem to forget that no one is forcing them to get one, and even in 2030/2035 whenever it happens, no one will be forcing them then to get one either, they will still be able to ride their petrol bikes and buy and sell their petrol bikes for many more years to come beyond the cut off for new petrol bikes being sold.... and TBH, how many of them currently even own a brand new motorcycle?

      I have done in the past yes, they are around 1/3 the cost of the bike. However, they come with good warranties, you also have to take into account the fact electric bikes need VERY little maintenance over their lifetime. It hasn't even got a chain as it uses a belt and that thing lasts 25k+ miles, no chain and sprocket changes, oil changes, valve adjustments, and so on.

    Read the reviews of the company. I bought a used Zero 2022 FX in December 2022. It's been in the shop for 5 of the 8 weeks I've owned it. THE COMPANY WILL NOT SUPPORT YOU. Zero almost intentionally does what they can do to make you angry. The worst company I've ever had to deal with, AND THEY MAKE MOTORCYCLES. My rear wheel had 3 broken spokes after about 800 miles of road riding. 3 weeks in the shop to fix 3 spokes. Zero took 2 weeks to ship....from Southern California to Arizona. Finally get the bike back.
    80 miles later, ANOTHER spoke broke (all of these are rear wheel by the way). 6 ignored emails from the company later, I find out they approved a BRAND NEW REAR WHEEL but never told me, or the dealership. So currently waiting on that new wheel to ship/be appvroved. Zero is scary. Guessin they got HUGE tax benefits and stimulus from CA for making electric bikes. DO NOT BUY A ZERO BIKE. Two women answer the phone - Nicole and Katie - and I am scared to learn how they're related to the company. Do not buy Zero. I paid $10k for my used Zero with 1,000 miles on it and $15k in receipts - I now understand I got fleeced by the old owner - he saw what this company was and dumped it ASAP. By the way, if you're doubtful of a single thing I've said, call Zero. Dial 2, for support. You'll talk to Katie or Nicole. They both literally have no idea how a motorcycle works, and they will never, ever, ever, let you get past them to somebody who can help. Zero is terrifying. The bike is fun when it works, but I've never come across a company like this, and literally I hunt down overdue information for a living.
