    I don’t understand why Tesla does not buy a company like Zero and rebrand it Tesla Zero and produce superior electric motors and battery packs for their motorcycles and just sell and distribute from the same web site and distribution centers that they use for their cars. They could do the same thing with Electric Bicycles.

With zero you're still paying for R&D on new tech, R&D for the rainbow teams has been covered for 20 years and they're just taking in profit. Revolt intellicorp has launched electric bikes in India. The base model RV300 is priced at $1553, and the amount is to be deposited in 37 installments of around $42 each. Just pay $42 and take your bike, no hidden costs and nothing.
    The bike can run approx 156km in full charge in economy mode (speed restricted to 45km/hr), and 80km in Nitro mode (speed locked to 85km/hr). Battery takes just 4.5hrs to charge from 0 to 100%.
    Even comes with a speaker which can produce 3 types of different superb bike sounds.
    The best thing is, they're providing ZERO cost of running for 3 years, anything from tyre replacement to battery replacement will be done free cost. And there is also a feature of battery swapping, where the user can simply swap the battery from the nearest Revolt bike store, while on ride, when he is unable to charge the battery. That too at zero price.
    I wish brands could enter the market with same strategy, so that more people could afford it and our environment could be saved.

    $8000-$10000 is not chump change and the re sale value on an e bike or an e motorcycle is not good!! (They don't tell you that when u buy one.)
    Ur paying thousands to only be limited to 60-100 mi. Then wait 9 hrs to ride again? Here's some advice.....Buy a REAL motorcycle!
    Those e motorbikes are NOT worth the money. Plus fuel for a motorcycle is cheap and they get so much better gas mileage than a car why would u need an e-motorcycle? Unless u have money to piss away.
    Now an e bike I can see why u would get one..u dont have to register or get insurance..u can ride 25 to 45 mi per charge use bike lanes,sidewalks,etc.
    But they are waaaaay more affordable.
    $1000-$2000 is much better than 8000-$10000.
    I'd take one if someone gave it to me but if im paying that much..Im buying a REAL motorcycle. Im positive it will be the smarter and more reliable decision down in the long run.

    Call me when it has 100mph, 100 miles of freeway range at 80mph, 60 HP (torque is already excellent), and weights in at 250 lbs or less. The 250lbs model has 27hp and the 290lbs model has 46.
    Honestly, pretty impressive already. But I'm going to wait for the next iteration that is just that much better.

    • @thunderofgr
      @thunderofgr 5 років тому +1

      The horsepower is essentially meaningless here since the torque is so high. Every Zero is ridiculously fast off the line, and they all have plenty of power left even at high speeds.

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain 5 років тому +1

      Matthew Storms you have that backwards.
      Torque is meaningless. Torque is a static force devoid of time. Written as foot pounds.
      HP is a measure of work. Written as foot pounds per second.
      More torque means more HP at a lower rpm. hence the quick off the line acceleration. Once the engine is wound up it has little power.

    • @ritwikreddy5670
      @ritwikreddy5670 5 років тому

      @@KTMcaptain yes, but I would prefer torque over hp at any time as I don't cross 100mph. So anything over a 50 hp is useless. But if you increase torque, hp also increases GENERALLY.
      Electric motors provide high torque without high hp, perfect for me. But I prefer gears.

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain 5 років тому +1

      @@ritwikreddy5670 I don't think you understand the dichotomy of torque and horsepower.
      Horsepower is a measure of work. It is how much weight you can move in a given period of time. Torque doesn't describe how long it took to build up the force. It could take 10 years or 10 seconds to build 1,000,000 ft lbs. One has 0.00004 HP, and the other has 1,142 HP. So you can take a long stick and generate more torque than a semi-tractor engine, yet cannot move the load anywhere near as fast.
      80 ft lbs at 1000 rpm is only 15HP. You need 3,000 rpm in order to make 46 hp. ((46/80)*5252 algebraically change rpm to X and rewrite HP=(RPM*TQ)/5252 in order to find what rpm it takes to make 46HP with 80ft lbs). So when you look at road speed vs engine/motor speed, you'd need to be doing about 51mph in order to make the 46hp ((85/5000)*3000=51). But, the motor makes 46hp at 4,300 rpm per Zero's website, which means you don't have full power until 72.5mph ((85/5000)*4300). Furthermore, guestimating utilizing my statistical software to create interpolated data, the motor makes 68 ft lbs of torque at 2,500 rpm which is 32hp at 42mph.
      (At 85 mph, 124.7 feet per second, with a tire circumference of 6.68 feet, the wheel must rotate 18.7 times per second or 84 revolutions per second of the motor considering the gear reduction. That is 5000 rpm @ 85mph)
      You're also missing a vastly important fact. Gearing can increase or decrease the torque at the wheel.
      An electric single speed bike is stuck in a high gear ratio. Compared to my previous 55hp 35 ft lbs bike, First gear is 2.43:1 gear ratio and 3.7:1 FD (9.03:1 total reduction). Zero FX is a 4.5:1 reduction. So 80 ft lbs in at 4.5:1 yields 360 ft lbs while a 35 ft lbs engine with a lower gear reduction generates 316 ft lbs. So a 129% torque advantage is reduced to 14%.
      Ultimately you want good torque, as it yields more HP at a lower RPM and generally reflects a higher average (not peak) HP across gear ratios. But what matters is your average HP, as Horsepower is 550 pounds moved a foot every second. It is torque within a defined interval.

    Would be great and cool if the battery slid out and had wheels and a suitcase handle on it. That way you could commute to work, take it with you and charge it at work. Also good for security reasons because they wouldn’t be able to run it and may deter from not having any gas engine or battery.

      Well you don’t speak for me, but this specific bike isn’t my cup of tea. I would rather have extended range. I’m only getting around ~170 miles per tank now and getting an electric motorcycle with more range than that would be an easy choice. Syncing four carburetors is fucking annoying, I need less complications in transport technology.

    Everyone's saying 8k is too expensive... go look at any harley Davidson or quality bike. Everyone's also calling out the 100 mile range, which isn't even that bad. I guess you just have to ride an electric bike to understand why they are worth it to some.

      Motorcycle Michael - Like Unintended Consequences mentioned, they have other models available, however none with larger than stock batteries available as an option, and non with batteries that can be swapped out. By swap I mean you could have one at work charging, so you could ride to work, swap, go home, charge and repeat. Also of note is the many, MANY warranty issues, they have no warranty, and no support. THINK before you consider a Zero.

    As much as I love the idea of an electric enduro, gasoline remains much more transportable. Another issue is the silence. Riding in the city, I'm surrounded by distracted drivers who wouldn't know I was there if they didn't hear me. The killer is price. You could ride a descent bike for a lot of years before you reached $8000
