I think it is called anointed. God inhabits the praises of his people. It was always very special when he sung Gospel music. His voice was very special period. He was concerned if people would remember him when he was not longer here. I pray that he knows how much people remember and still love him to this day. I was at one of his concerts and he just started singing There is a sweet spirit in this place and I know it is the spirit of the Lord. Such a sweetness filled the Omni as soon as he sang it.
His mama taught him well. He learned his gospel/spirituals at his mama's knee and never forgot them or where he came from. He bromgs God to you from the stage he is standing on. You can feel the power and the sacrificing that goes into every spiritual hs does. This man has gospel in his blood and he shows it in his performances.
