Shoutout to Richard for mentioning Silence, underrated, beautifully shot and very well acted. Would love if you guys did a review on it, when you decide to do a Scorsese arc.
I watched Silence at a time in my life where I was quite anti-religion, and my initial reaction was quite negative besides for the aesthetics and acting. But even though I haven't watched it since, it has stayed with me in a way most movies don't, and has really grown on me, especially as my perspectives have changed over the years. I would love for them to do an episode on it, as it is both beautiful and conflicting. I think it would make for an amazing discussion/breakdown.
Love the show and episode. I would love a month where you all just went though the Sopranos, the Wire, Mad Men or tv shows in that vain. Not sure if it’s a separate show. Either way whatever you do I’ll keep watching. Thanks for the content.
Great episode! I didn't prefer this to The Godfather but it's a fantastic film nonetheless and I don't think I would've decided to watch it anytime soon if it wasn't for this show. I always look forward to the new episode and can't wait to finally watch Casablanca now!
I watched this for the first time and I thought it was ok. I can see why people think it's so good but at the same time it mostly feels like it's a summary the whole way through. Maybe it's just not for me. It doesn't really feel like it really starts the story, it feels more you have a few scenes interspersed between sections of exposition. It makes most of the film almost feel like your still in the opening. Until you get to pretty damn close to the end, maybe somewhere a bit after the first jail time.
@@AM2K2 i see! thx for refreshing my memory. After pondering for a bit it might have been The Prestige I was thinking of. Clearly remember thorin highlighting it as his fav movie along side Heat. Don't know why I switched it with The Departed in my head, very diffrent movies. Ill throw Infernal Affairs on my list.
@@astar2394 Only 20 minutes into the Godfather episode thus far, forgot about that one. Prisoners I could follow along with fairly easily, the real challenge was Magnolia.
It's something you get used to while listening and I'm sure Monte and Rich are no strangers to it. Only change I'd recommend is lowering the gain on his microphone because it peaks so much louder than the other two's borderline deafening me at times like the examples you've given lol.
I can easily turn this movie off Richard. I hate gangster movies, they have less than 0 appeal to me. But I'm curious what you guys like about it so i decided to watch this podcast.
Probably my favourite series on youtube, editor is always on point with clips he chooses/the timing of when to play them. Just fantastic all round.
I love the clips. Really takes the production value a step further.
Totally agree!

I have to see that movie. I heard it's great.

When Sunhine of your love kicks in mixed with De Niro giving the stare of death thats pure chefs kiss.
I was refreshing the channel all day yesterday waiting for this episode. This will be good.
I could never get into gangster movies, but it was great hearing you guys' perspective on this classic
Dang it for once I actually have seen the movie you guys are talking about this time!
Love the shout out for king of comedy. For me, it's his best, and only becomes more and more relevant.
same dude, agree with you on both points. It's fresh and avant garde today, crazy that Scorcese was already thinking about this stuff in the eighties.
Goodfellas just tips Casino imho. Both fantastic.
Great episode. One of my favorite movies ever.
Can Thorin sort his mic out bloody 'ell
I think the most impressive thing about this movie is the editing
I've finally got to hear Thorin gush about Heat and Richard go deep into Goodfellas.
This has become my go to podcast over esports these days!
These last 3 have been great! Hoping at some point we get The Prestige!
Great film and great episode
The worst dubbing over of cursing I have ever seen was The Big Lebowski "this is what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps." I about died.

More Big films lads this was great !!
Pleased to hear Richard and I share the same view of Jack black 😂
One of the best podcasts!
When we getting the departed episode 🤤😭
I fear a world where our Thorin was a young spider and a Shaq Pesci went full Gregore Clegane
Lol Henry Hill was even in the fucking 30 for 30 on the Boston college fix. Such a joke! 😂
If yall take suggestions: 2001 a space odyssey?
well, this make me want to watch the departed again. no idea why you guys dont like it. i remember the end beeing a little weak, but thats about it.
It aged poorly.
Thought Joe Pesci showed a lot of range in my cousin Vinny 🤣🤣
Did Monte get to say more than 2 sentences this episode? And what's up with Montes camera from 1:00 to 2:00?
Get a refund
Love it
finally a film i know lets go
Adam Curtis documentary arc.
Last, best mob movie will probably be Donnie Brosco.

Didn't they say that they liked the Departed at some point, or am I missing something?
I think they suggested we watch 'Infernal Affairs' instead, a Hong Kong film. I have saved it for future viewing.

My Blue Heaven is so bad it's actually funny in parts.
Watched every episode so far, this is the first time I've actually seen the movie associated with an episode outside of Dune.
how tf did you get through the prisoners or the godfather episodes lmao??

51:04 the thorin aspect of this podcast needs to be revised. Jesus

I'm looking forward to hear you guys make an argument for Casablanca. I don't understand how that movie is so highly revered. I suffered through it.
Greatest film ever
Can somebody turn down thorin my ears are bleeding trying to listen to Richard and Monte talk and out of nowhere Thoorin at +20db Yelling THE JOKE IS!
I love it hahahah never change Thorin please
37:33 🤣
What a great movie
36:06 😂
Thorin was on fire this episode. Really entertaining
👍
I think Casino is a better version of this movie, honestly.
45:41 Massive eyeroll lmao. Sorry but we haven't regressed to women being portrayed the way they were in the 70s.
Agree with most of the takes, but Irishman was terrible.
16:18 I don't know what it says about me, but this is why I don't enjoy this movie, not because I think it is bad, but because I hate the characters
Never seen this before but good episode but why is rich so skinny in the intro?
BLACK MYTH WUKONG!
Nobody cares about the WNBA, they do like to watch an excellent player
It won't Richard. Sadly, the current Hollywood slop is served at such an accelerated rate that movies of this caliber are going to be forgotten.
