Omg Medazzaland was my DD real baptism. Not to be disrespectful about the Taylors which I love but WOW. What a line up. Just wow.Simon ,also, is gourgeously, flawlessly handsome here and it doesn't hurt.
This is before the classic line up reunited and it's weird not seeing Jon and roger ( been used to them without Andy ) but gotta say they kick ass here and Warren really really brought something to the band
Hey. I should have worded it better. I saw this show in Birmingham. I must have been half asleep and not reading the title correctly. I've got this wembley show on vhs. I'll have to transfer/upload it. This one is very poor quality.
i saw this concert at sheffield arena was amazing they played the whole madazzaland album most fans didnt no any of the songs simon looked quite shocked that i knew all the tracks of the album never forget that lol
Omg 😮😮😮!!! You're absolutely correct!!!👍It iZ NOT Joe Travers!!! I'm so happy that you pointed this out to me. This Steve Alexander iZ an amazing drummer... he really added a "hard rock" edge to the classic songs. Awesome 😃☕🥁🥁🥁
Simon is there only with his body but with anything else he's elsewhere..... They look so detached one from another... Always been a huge band but from 1997 to 2001 their live shows were somewhat flat. Don't get me wrong: I've always been a huge Duran fan but watching this makes me a bit sad about what they were going through within the band.... Other than that, Duran has been there for 40 years now and I'm so proud of that!!!
This was probably one of the worst times in the band's career. A literally saw them in a school gymnasium in Lakewood Ohio that year. The concert I saw was just after Michael Hutchins from INXS passed. Seriously, it was literally the same day. It was one of the most saddest shows on a lot of different occasions. Just thought I would pass that along. Now, it is 2023 and they are officially inducted into the Hall of the Fame!🎉
Back to 1998 I used to dream about a possibility of a DD's concert in Brasil. I don't know what was happening in the band, but it doesn't look like Duran Duran. Albums like Medazzaland or Pop Trash re vey cool I think, but they are very disconnct ithe their previous works. They were turning into an indie pop band very connect with what's going on music those days, but many of their fans didn't appecciated that.. In anyeay, Warren seems to be the musical director of the band and Simon it's not on stage that day or those days... By he Ways, Duran Duran misses John Taylor a lot and the drummer it's much better than Roger that didn't makee a inch to become a better drummer
Bummed...this is evidently missing 2 songs from the actual performance...Is There Something I Should Know? and Virginia Plain...If anyone knows where to find those...
Those don't appear to have been played at that show. duranduran.wikia.com/wiki/1998_-_21_December:_London_(UK) I do have a recording of Virginia Plain. I will upload it and give a link.
To my knowledge there is no official manufactured DVD of this. It was only a television broadcast source. There does appear to be an unofficial Brazilian DVD that was made. I don't know if you can still find it anywhere. duranduran.wikia.com/wiki/Live_At_Wembley_Arena_(DVD)
I got the DVD at a Sanborn's store (in Mexico City). Not sure if there's a way for transfering a few GigaBytes to you. But I'd like to say please don't think it's a marvelous production. It's exactly what you see in this video (no documentary, interview, behind scenes, easter eggs...nothing else!) even video quality is so so. Looks like it was recorded by somebody just for TV broadcasting purposals, actually I've already seen two times broadcasted by Sky in my country.
The other day I was thinking about that. Maybe was not a matter of chemistry but of balance. It's just that Warren became a very heavy and powerful member: Great guitarrist, good presence, excelent producer and almost band director (the bassist and drummer in this video were brought by him), he had already overtaken bass recording on Medazzaland sessions after John Taylor left. Simon is not a musician and Nick is talented but not too developed to balance just by himself what Warren had become. If you listen Pop Trash guitars became too heavy in some songs but that's not the "Duran Duran sound". So I think it's logical that Simon and Nick considered that the only way they felt that the Duran sound could be preserved was to reset the band. Keeping Warren would have been great but maybe downgrading Warren probably would have been too difficult to manage for everybody.
Mr. Bass you must be joking... roger wrote the songs ... the drummer is playing an open snare sound ... drums sound louder ... roger plays with a closed snare or drum played with electronic sound ... beat is solid but not as loud ... style difference
@@dkmyww Yes, I absolutely agree with you 💯 The drum parts will always belong to Roger!!! He wrote them perfectly. I really don't like seeing or hearing DD without Rog. Steve Alexander definitely changed them up quite a bit. Some I like a little (i.e. Careless Memories) and some I really don't like (I e. Rio). I'm just thrilled that Roger Taylor iZ back 😆☕🥁🥁🥁
Bassist Wes Wehmiller did an outstanding job, he plays every note just like John Taylor did. Drummer Joe Travers (or Steve Alexander?) is a bit more noisy versus Roger Taylor
Octavio Oviedo agreed. John “plays” the bass, just like Roger “plays” the drums. The two are gifted in rhythm and timing and this rhythm section is just, for lack of better words, sloppy and noisy. Wes did a great job, but the drummer seems lost.
Well, I think the horrorific girl is Tessa Niles, who is the original backing singer that recorded the original song (with additional production, of course)
sorry this awful, who are these people on bass, guitar and drums . they should have gone into hiatus and comeback as the 5 later. talk about flogging a dead horse.
Why is the usually so stylish Si dressed like a blue-collar worker?? : / Aside from the dull stage attire and cheap stage & lighting rig, the music's still good...but the loss of JT is inescapable...
David Smith ..to add, JT was getting divorced/ clean/ trying to be an adult human again/ basically "finding himself"..then of course he relased his own music. Heartily agree...so grateful at least 4 of the originals are still together. :D
Duran was really @ their best when they had steve ferrone & sterling campbell drumming and warren becoming an ofgicial original member..many forget that warren played on TWICE as many albums than ANDY ..many gorget because the so called DURANIES turned their BACKS on D2 and werent paying any attention..otherwise u wouldnt be hearing all the nonsense and myths the band went south when Andy & Roger left...FICTION often time becomes FACT, but this lineup post JOHN s temporary departure, is pretty good on " VIEW 2 A KILL" and "BIG BANG GENERATION " ..Joe TRAVERS drum sound is excellent and WARREN works a few subtle riffs.. AGREED some of the playing on other tracks arent as brilliant , but SIMON is VERY SHARP vocally....not the best DURAN lineup, but theres 0. ( zero) QUIT in this band, unlike the FAKE DIE HARDS that abandoned them on several occasions, and upon re- appearing, only KNOW and WANT 2 hear the EARLY MATERIAL...
Confused why people here are complimentary about this performance, all round its pretty awful, Simon sounding rough, Warren's playing not right, uninspired stage design, compare this to 2004 reunion tour and to this day, they are far superior, Simon sings better at 66 than he does here at 40.
Yo lo grabe en 1999 en Hbo Ole, gran concierto y sonido.
Simón Le Bon es lindo y canta lindo Duran Duran es increíble gracias por compartir con nosotros los fans este video dios te bendiga graciassssssss
How is it possible that this tour does not have a good dvd or blue ray? what a pity !
Omg Medazzaland was my DD real baptism. Not to be disrespectful about the Taylors which I love but WOW. What a line up. Just wow.Simon ,also, is gourgeously, flawlessly handsome here and it doesn't hurt.
AMAZING AMAZING CONCERT!!!!! Wish I could of seen it in person! Simon's vocals are a WOW, especially on the song Secret Oktober..... very passionate!
This is before the classic line up reunited and it's weird not seeing Jon and roger ( been used to them without Andy ) but gotta say they kick ass here and Warren really really brought something to the band
Do you have a link to a recent concert with the classic lineup?
Careless Memories !!!
Que buen recital, Warren es simplemente un guitarrista único.
Un grosoooo
Very, very nice. It's so awesome having a live version of Out of my Mind in such a great quality. And of course, Warren is awesome as usual. Cheers!
Secret Oktober is everything here. Simon's vocals were perfect. I've loved this band since 1981 and always will.
Hermoso Simon le bon ❤
Great concert, Birmingham, UK. Just made me realise how far back it was.
Wembley Arena London not Birmingham
Hey. I should have worded it better. I saw this show in Birmingham. I must have been half asleep and not reading the title correctly. I've got this wembley show on vhs. I'll have to transfer/upload it. This one is very poor quality.

Así es Solange
I would love to see a higher quality version of this! Either way, thanks for posting this!!
Just found this, I was there, what a great night, never been to a bad DD gig!!!
assisti esse show pela HBO, muito bom
Este es un conciertazo que me hubiera gustado vivir.Dios!!!!Despues de esto puedo morir en paz🙏🏼.💕💕💕💕💕
Thank you! Finnaly, I found it!!!)
Excelente.. Quizas sería bueno mejorar la calidad del video. Pero se agradece... GRande Duran2
i saw this concert at sheffield arena was amazing they played the whole madazzaland album most fans didnt no any of the songs simon looked quite shocked that i knew all the tracks of the album never forget that lol
No they didn’t play all of medazzland ever and only 2 tracks on this tour, awesome gigs either way 😍
Boa
Thanks
Warren makes Andy look like a kindergartner. I mean playing ability lol
Lol, are kidding me? Andy has more technique, funk and tightness in his little finger than Warren has in his whole body.
What ? He totally ruins Careless Memories here, Andy's style fit Duran music, Warren's didn't.
アンディとウォーレンのギタープレイを
また見たいです。
Best dd show and it doesn’t even have all the members lol
This wasn't Joe Travers on drums, that was Steve Alexander!
Are you sure? I got the info from here. duranduran.fandom.com/wiki/Greatest:_Live_At_Wembley_1998

Es Steve Alexander
It’s a hard time for Duran Duran ,until 2001,others members comeback

You are right..Its also because Simons sadness of Johns exit...They felt its ......over.I think if not reunion in 2001,they would split.

bring wacu back
Great Duran Duran tribute band
Haha. Pretty much!
Ha ha ha, how true. The singer of this tribute band looks bored.
Rhodes is the soul of DD. And Le Bon the heart. Don't insult them.
mui bueno

Duran Duran - Virginia Plain ua-cam.com/video/X5h8aiUZwHk/v-deo.html
Cool...thx! Yes some setlist include it others exclude it...either way it's great to have a chance to hear their version!
I was there that night. Is there something was the second song of the set and wasn't broadcast on tv but they didn't sing Virginia Plain that night
Wonder if I could get a DVD of this?

No duran duran without jt
duran 666 exactly
It's as if the left part of the stage were in complete darkness without John
I guess the chemistry between Simon/Nick + Warren was about to finish
The other day I was thinking about that. Maybe was not a matter of chemistry but of balance. Patético que no aprecien: nunca fue duran duran lo mismo sin cuccurullo. Puro bulto pusieron después 🤣
Money was getting tight during this period, and it shows. Simon seems somewhat disinterested but he band play well.
He sounds tired otherwise good concert.
Who’s doing the rhythm section in this? Anyone know? Def not John and Roger.
Wes Wehmiller - bass guitar
Joe Travers - drums
@@robpdx70 Not Joe Travers.
Steve Alexander is the drummer.
No J.T on bass....damn....drummer much better then Roger though

Is Terry Bozzio on the drums?
Sterling Campbell was on drums here.
No, this guy is not Sterling Campbell.
Maybe Joe Travers, another drummer of Missing Persons
Oops. Yes you're right. It's Joe Travers.
That's Joe Travers
Session musicians are well trained but aren't special and even rude to DD's music.
Bassist Wes Wehmiller did an outstanding job, he plays every note just like John Taylor did. Drummer Joe Travers (or Steve Alexander?) is a bit more noisy versus Roger Taylor

That woman singing on Come Undone is horrific. That is one of my favorite songs from them and the female lead has to match, and this woman doesn't
Well, I think the horrorific girl is Tessa Niles, who is the original backing singer that recorded the original song (with additional production, of course)
WTF u talking about shes perfect! this is pure gold cause this is one of the few live performaces of Tessa with DD go clean ur ears man shame on u
The Drummer is awful.
Warren is the best
I'm so, so happy that Roger iZ back with the band!!! HeZ truly one of the worldZ great drummers 😆☕🥁🥁🥁
