In 1000 years from now .... the cool kids will still be watching this video.
LoL you mean the outcast like us 😁. ☮️♥️🎸🎸🎸🎶🎶🎶
R.I.P Dio , One Of The Greatest Voices Ever💖💖💖💖
without a doubt nobody ever did ..or does come close !... no contest !!
I am 63 years old, but I watch this concert with the same pleasure as 47 years ago 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
😂 I am almost 68 and do the same 😂
I am 65 years old and also do the same.
63as well, I saw them in Vienna, still amazed🎸🎸🎸
Im 65! Its like happend yesterday in the Philipshalle Dusseldorf-1976- and in Cologne 1977 in Germany.

God, his voice is just so hauntingly beautiful. The world misses him every day ❤
AMEN TO THAT
I know i miss him
YES ! The old ones speak of winter the young ones praise the sun and time just slips away...
We timelessly love RJD.
When God made RJD he broke the mold
Beautiful choice of discribeing RONNIE'S VOICE HAUNTING LY .. BEAUTIFUL THANKS @PAINCREATESFAME you know what RONNIE'S VOICE is he was very kind to us we opened up there first tour for 8 days of the first tour man he's into or was into dragons he showed me pictures of some fender stratocaster s carved dragons of Ritchie Blackmore s. Collection and we sat around the motels round table doing things we used to in those nights but I WAS SO BLOWN AWAY from the terrible news he was I'LL we lost one outstanding guy but his legacy lives on feeling the power of his lyrics n vocals n stage presentation s
Ritchie and Ronnie. A timeless combination. Rock In Peace RJD and Cozy
Cozy left us WAY too soon😢
not forgetting Cozy....
Ronnie James Dio's voice is divine, Ritchie Blackmore's talent is unmatchable 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Except, perhaps, by his ego. Unfortunately, I only saw Rainbow once - with JLT - and Purple with Blackmore three times - all post reunion.
Blackmore is a sensational guitarist, and just on pure ability is possibly the finest rock guitarist that has ever lived.
One of the greatest shows of pure talent, these guys were great at this time and becoming even better. Long live R&R👐🏽
Blackmore was a beast in the 1970s! As you stated: Unmatched!
Эти ребята и сегодня заткнут за пояс любой коллектив@@wwsoulrockerstudio
Rock forever. 68 years old. Like jazz, classic, abba, but nothing can be better than Rock. Especially Rainbow.
I LOVE ABBA! I don't consider them to be disco. Regarless of what title you get put under if you are the best of the best, that's the tile you get from me.
☆☆🌈 RAINBOW🌈 ☆☆
is the best super group of the 70s! LONG LIVE R&R!
May I ask what symbol is on the flag of your avatar?
Ronnie was is and will always be the greatest vocalist in rock history. He was The Man On The Silver Mountain!!!!!
I was there. This night changed my life. 🤘
OMG you are so LUCKY!!!!!!!! I was not even born
Ritchie gets outta jail, and lays down an epic performance. Lolol. Ritchie.
Cozy Powell is one of the best rock drummers of all time
that fucking pump from 57:40 to 59:30
Mr. Colin "Cozy Powell" Trevor Flooks 🥁 😢
And like all of the best he liked fast cars, that's not being disrespectful, like Bonzo he loved speed and power!
Even Robert Plant hired Cozy Powell for his first solo album PICTURES AT ELEVEN. He truly is one if the very best!
Mr. Jimmy Page backstage 1977.
1978 we had Cheap Trick, warming up for Pat Travers, warming up for Rainbow. It was the Saint Paul Civic Center and it was Richie Blackmores birthday. 8 bucks a ticket, I was 14, and I will never forget this show. Blackmore started the show with Somewhere over the Rainbow and his guitar was lifted into the air, like what Ace Freeley did with Kiss.
Damn! I didn't get to see that. I did see Cheap Trick in 76 I think. It was in Wisconsin. They are our hometown boys. I only got to see them once tho. Never got to many concerts. Had my daughter in 79 and I was way too busy keeping us afloat. I just listened like always. Got one more and that was Sabbath with Ozzie when they came to my town. 80 I think. Wish I could have seen these guys live just once💔🤘🏼🥰
8$ for a Ticket 🎫 woow thats nothing compared to today’s prices for a good famous Act minimum 60$ nowadays
Ritchie, Ronnie and Cozy.
Three great names in the early years of hardrock.
nothing better than starting the year, listening to the Immortal Dio and friends
I never get tired of listening to this concert 🤟
Now that folks is what we call rock and roll at its pure best. I was at the 5th of November show in 1978 at the Liverpool Empire, this brings back tears to my eyes. God I hope Ronnie is happy and safe over his rainbow.
46 years ago, incredible energy. Those were the days, Ritchie almost singlehandedly (with Jon Lord) invented hardrock with "Deep Purple In Rock" (1970). A difficult person if you read the press in those days, but a musical wizard!!
He would enjoy being called a Wizard
Yeah Ritchie was a prick and full of himself. He never stayed at the same hotel as the bad, didn't hang with members of Purple, no band dinners. He replaced Dio with Graham Bonnet, has anybody ever heard of this guy Graham? That was the end of Rainbow producing good songs.
You do realize that Sabbath released their debut album a year or two before that, inventing metal in the late sixties.
Even R.J. Dio suffered from this difficult person and mercurial caracter... But at such a level of requirements every nights and during all these decades, sometimes we have to accept as a counterpoint that the world is - and will alwas be - full of fools and lunatics.
Hats off to the Man in Black!
@NickySpades graham bonnet was commercial rainbow.
When Ritchie’s destroying the strat, once the neck pops…there’s no more sound produced. What you’re hearing is Dawk or one of the other road crew rocking a small amp with a reverb tank… got to love it! Ritchie doesn’t get enough credit for his contributions to RnR.
My favorite RAINBOW live video to watch .
This is my all time favorite point of all music, even more so than early Stones or even Led Zeppelin, whom I’ve idolized my entire life. Something about this era of Rainbow that hits my soul very deeply. I guess it’s the Heavy Metal & blues combo. Other than that I can’t even explain why. ❤
I'm still digging this in 2024
I missed that one but I saw them the year before, they still did Stargazer in 76, it was an incredible show, imho the best line-up Ritchie ever played with. My friend was at the 77 show too, the band came on stage sometime after midnight because Ritchie had some trouble with Austrian customs after a show in Vienna and they wouldn't let him enter Germany first. By the time Rainbow hit the stage, most of the audience had already gone home! The concert was over maybe at 3 or 4 a.m. Then my friend had to drive home for about one hour, he probably hadn't slept at all, the next day he had some exam at school. He really was a Ritchie fan! In 76 he had grabbed Ritchie's smashed guitar at the Circus Krone concert, lucky one! He already crossed the rainbow bridge 18 years ago but I remember him everytime when I think of these Rainbow concerts.
This is a great performance but I imagine there were more than a few people in the audience that wanted to hear Stargazer!
you bet@@andrehendrik
i'm missing also stargazer with the munich philarmonic.
Could be nice but I think Ritchie is no longer into that!@@joseantonioberenguer182
So that's why when Dio was introducing Long Live
Rock n' Roll he said "except for Austria" NOW I GET IT! 😂 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I saw them on that great tour in 1977 in Wiesbaden Germany. I will never forget this concert, simply from another planet. Now I've seen Ronnie Romero on his 2024 tour, a fantastic singer who honors RJD's legacy. The master would love him. Rock on Guys!
Don't forget this rhythm section. This band was one of the great Hard Rock acts of all time.
Has to be one of the best lineups of all time a true supergroup.
That's what I said! They truly are the super group of super groups!
Certainly the best concert I have ever seen! Richie BLACKMORE is a magician. The chemistry with Ronnie James DIO is total; leaving room for improvisation. Cosy POWELL, David STONE and Bob DAISLEY are also excellent. A sign that does not deceive: Lemmy KILLMINSTER (MOTÖRHEAD bass and great admirer of the BEATLES) had this album on his leaving room wall…See also the other concert-album « on stage » (1977) with Jimmy BAIN on bass and Tony CAREY on keybord…
THANK YOU VELBLOUD !
Kill the King….what a hell of an opener!
Days of romantic rock ...Celtic feel ...so much atmos ..great singing, all round great musicians. And HEAVY..........
Saw Ronnie with his band Elf in '72 opening a show with Rory Gallagher for Deep Purple on their "Machine Head" tour... Blackmore took a liking to Ronnie's vocals, and 3 years later Rainbow was born...
Wow 47 years ago. I am 57. I am just appreciating this concert now.Dio is my favorite singer. I never saw him live while he was in Rainbow. I saw Dio live with Black Sabbath,Dio, and. & Heaven and Hell
many times.
Bob Daisley went on to write the entire album
"Diary of a Madman"
UFB!!!
STILL ❤ and forever
thanks Ritchie, and Ronnie 🤘
What an incredible band, performance and mix. Especially for 77’.
All very talented musicians, there is no doubt, but when Ronnie James Dio joins your band, he raises the bar and musical creativity for all. We the fans are blessed and left with great music for years to come. 👏👏👏👏
When Iommi fired Ozzy everybody thought that Black Sabbath was dead. Enter Ronnie James Dio , what follows is one of the greatest metal albums of all time Heaven and Hell. It's no coincidence that the common denominator was Ronnie Dio.
There will never be another voice as pure and rock authentic. It is the epitome of a master at his work. Wow !
Rock and Roll Royality here:) It's hard to even fathom the size of an impression that these guys had left on a music as a whole.... Unfortunately I never had a chance to see any of them live....
First saw Rainbow at Edinburgh playhouse 4 sept 1976 with my then girlfriend (now wife ,amazing concert ears were still ringing 3days later. We were right at the front between Ronnie and Ritchie awesome memories
This is stunning. But it floors me that they ever did a show without playing Stargazer. That's my favorite Rainbow song and one of the best songs ever written.
My favorite also. I saw Dio live six times before I finally got to hear it live.
I agree. Stargazer is a masterpiece and my favourite too.
Cheers!!
Never saw Dio do it.... too ypung to see Rainbow...but I've had the honor to play with Mark Clarke a bunch of times
They did perform it sometimes, but they never really performed Gates Of Babylon though, which is my favorite.
Me too 63.
I saw them twice in The Hague in the Netherlands. In 76 and in 77. And as a bonus AC/DC was support act on one these shows. A memory that a cherish. ❤
今62歳です。1977のレインボー🌈のライブ昔の厚生年金ホールで観た時興奮しました!パウエル、ロニーリッチこのメンバーのレインボー🌈最高でした😂
What a fabulous show!
I feel really blessed to have seen him perform, before his tragic passing!!
Absolutelly amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This concert is a METAL MASTERPIECE !!! 👍💙
yes, ecactly! rainbow was the blueprint for all the metal/hardrock bands from the 80ies, only much better and more virtuous than many of them! and richie blackmore was the uncrowned king in case of metal/hardrock guitar playing, he is the founder of shred guitar playing- to this time blackmore was at his peak, same in case of singing from ronnie james dio
I agree but why only 100 k views ??
Because the many views are on
Hearing dio for first time reaction😅😂
a Hard Rock masterpiece anyway!
@@tommyseibel7902 hell no. You are crediting Ritchie for Tony Iommi's accomplishments. Iommi and Black Sabbath created the metal genre and Iommi the original riff master and shredder. Ritchie comes in second, maybe third if you consider Jimmy Page.
One of the greatest shows ever of pure talent the whole band had on this tour🤳🏼
He he, this enorme hard rock/ metal show was direct after blackmores arrest in vienna, someone payed an high bill to freed him from jail, drove him right to munich, blackmore showed up very late at night, releasing an enorme amount of energy you hear at this show, dio kick out his phänomenal voice, cozy and Bob pumping bass and drums, very thight dynamic rockin... David stone masterful keyboard... and blackmore... playing vs strong energy classic stuff mixed vs metal, heavy rock... awesome stuff, an great line up
Great musician's man Ronnie James Dio wow STILL KING
Ozzy's album Patient Number 9 is outstanding, his best since Ozzmosis. Give it a listen.
Damn this might be the best concert footage I've ever seen. I got a bit teary eyed during several parts of this. This might have been the greatest hard rock band in history.
It is a damn good video for this time period. Magical performance
1:05:21 -Ronnie's best vocal performance, truly incredible, gave goosebumps
Perhaps the greatest live recording ever. Pure MAGIC
I remember listening to this in my teens in the early 1980s and thinking: What is this sorcery!!! Loved every second of it!
🤘🤘Fuck yeah!

Absolutely and the best improvisation too.
This is Ronnie pure. The Soul i love.
Thank You.
is that an actual song or just an improvisation
These vibs remains ever fresh in the minds of real rocking rollers of the yester years.
Completely badass show! So glad I saw this live. Plus I remember how loud it was! So great. 🙂
Oh-My-God
This is a band firing on all cylinders- incredible show from start to finish.
Super GREAT Legends!! LOVE! Thank You!!
Olympic Hall in Munich Germany 🇩🇪.the Concert was sold out 14.000 people but almost everyone was gone.cause the rumours told Richie was in Prison in Austria 🇦🇹.so the show would be cancelled.luckily he managed it to Munich and played the Concert 😊
Cozy Powell. Ronnie James Dio. Ritchie Blackmore. Absolute hard rock heaven -- Cozy's drive and power on Kill the King is still impressive. And Daisley and Stone were no slouches either.
Agreed , the drumming is outstanding 👌
Dio what a Voice!! I wish i was alive at the time to have seen Rainbow play at their prime.
Blackmore, Dio, and Powell were the perfect triumvirate to Rainbow in the same way that Blackmore, Lord, and Paice were to Deep Purple.
Rainbow, pure emotion, fantastic ❤❤❤
Heavy metal we love you too ❤ Long live Rock and roll Ronnie James Dio in heaven and hell
Увидел Рэйнбоу в золотом составе, вокал Дио неподражаем, уникальный концерт в отличном качестве!!! Редкая удача, когда это происходило, мне было 12, благодаря коллекционерам могу там побывать!
Happy 79th Birthday, Ritchie!
This is what "Lightning in a Bottole" meant. A perfect blend of the very best in their fields at this particular moment in time. I can not fully express how good this is as it's beyond words. The pure joy it gives me deep down in my soul is just the start. Hail, Ronnie James Dio, Rest in peace. The Gypes's Soul lives and roams on, Thank you for everything. 🤘❤🔥🤘

ronnie, ritchie & cozy xxx
I completely forgot how impressive this band was.
This is very nice video, captures the band perfectly
The only word I can say is INCREDIBLE.

im so thankful this was recorded thank you god for the best live performance ever
So fantastic ! Back when music had excitement and adventure. Too bad they had such a revolving door.
You,re spot on Alan, these days are gone forever…..now it’s all backing tapes auto tune and all the money spent on stage shows
@@timetraveller9321 Way more attitude than talent today. I don't know just why anyone is famous today. I don't see any quality anywhere.
@@alanosterman7130 I have to agree just think groups like sabbath, purple, whitesnake, maiden, Glenn Hughes , will never be replicated, their music, lyrics and longevity cannot be matched, when these groups are gone, nothing new comes close, I’d rather listen to a tribute band of any of thee groups than any of the computerised, a1 generated tuneless production lined crap that comes out today,
Long Live Ritchie Blackmore!
Richie had a very special and intimate Relationship with Germany 🇩🇪 .his first Son was born in Hamburg Germany 🇩🇪 and Richie used to live for some Years in Hamburg.
Ronnie seems to have a beef with Austria...?
Ritchie has many of jimmy Page's gimmics, and has never an eye at the crowd aswell as The Guitarist, but plays so beautifully that his semingly antipathy is not a problem. Great futur(Ronny) Dio voice.
Imagine having the balls to do this live.
Only a select few could, and these guys were among the absolute best!!!!
Thank you velblouds. You are my love!!!!!!. That's why i have the live double vinyl Album at home. I payd over 30 swiss franks, in the 70's sehr viel Geld. Nun weisst du, dass ich ein Schweizer bin. I seen this show same year Stanley theater pgh...im 62 now...love hearing from peeps my age in the comments....and how about that worlds first of its kind LED rainbow 🌈...simply amazing
Of all the singers who were in Richie Blackmore's bands, Ronnie's voice and singing style is by far the best match for his guitar tone and playing style. Somehow, he was the best of Coverdale and Hughes in one great, small package. It's a real shame they didn't last longer.
Watch Dreamers never die on HBO, Ritchie didn't understand why they weren't getting over in America despite being massive in Europe, Japan, and England and it drove him nuts. He started listening to birdies in his ears telling him Ronnie's lyrics were too fantastical and mythical. When Ritchie asked Ronnie to write songs about relationships, love songs, Ronnie flat out rejected the idea so Richie sacked him for a no talent hack.
It is a very good show and fantastic music the stuff you can cross to all night
