My 13th birthday... wow. Duran Duran was already my favorite band when this NYE show at The Palladium aired. Pretty sure I was at my friend Val's; if not, we definitely watched this show on a VHS tape, over and over, in 1983, 1984. She bought everything that Duran Duran ever sold or released, including the picture disc, and we listened to it all immediately and repeatedly; we were such Duranies. I can't thank this channel host and the UA-cam algos and the copyright people and the band for having the Duran Duran New Year's Eve 1982 at The Palladium show here now, in late 2024 (11/7/2024). If I make it to NYE 2024, I'll turn 56 years old. I loved watching this in every way, oh my gosh, there is too much to say. I missed Live Aid, I missed a chance to meet Duran Duran (my boyfriend and his buddy went, and shook hands!); I missed every D2 concert in Philadelphia, PA and in NYC (and DC). My mom tore down all of my Duran Duran posters, which took up all wall space, and ripped them up, threw them out, forbade me from going to concerts. I did manage to get out to the roller skating rinks (with other friends) and to a teen dance club, on Friday and Saturday nights, where Val and I made the DJ play Duran Duran songs every few minutes, to which we danced our butts off, synchronized, in our matching Hungry Like the Wolf hats, doing the moves from the videos, that we had memorized and practiced at her place for hours and hours, until... well, the boy she liked, who ended up meeting Duran Duran (very briefly), liked me, and we kissed in that dance club - it was a bar that served soda to teens on weekends - and Val was not happy about it at the time. We all were great friends later, though, in the early days of Facebook. I went to The Palladium at least a few times in college, 1987 or 1988 or so, and it looked exactly like this, and our shoulderpads were as big, our hair as perfectly Aqua-Netted into place, and the club looked the same as it did on this night in 1982. It was during my sober days of the late 80s, when I just wanted to dance. Thanks for the nostalgia and this trip down memory lane. I really appreciate the quality of the audio and video, considering how old the show is. Wow. Duran Duran, the most underrated band of my entire Gen X life. EPIC.

This was also before low wattage LED lighting too. Those can lights back in the day were HOT. Like, cook your skin if you touched them hot. That is why they were always sweating so much on stage back then.
There was an analogue version of simple auto-tune back then, as well as very effective de-essing, compression, and most effects that are available today. I would think that, by this point, Duran Duran had made enough money to afford those sorts of rack effects and/or the venue had them. Regarding this video, there is plenty of software capable of auto-tuning instruments and vocals, correcting timing errors, de-essing, etc even with final stereo mixes (look up "Melodyne"), and a lot of it can be done quite subtlely. I'm not saying that it was done here, but it could have been. I will give credit to Duran Duran that the members seem to have a genuine friendship and zero ill will even after they disbanded (with the exception of Andy). I've been a fan of DD ever since my Aunties were fighting over who was the hottest in the band, John or Simon, in the early 80s... FFW to seeing them live at their Sacramento show in 2023, and they still sound tight and are as badass as they were in 1984! DURAN DURAN 4EVER!!!
Watching this a few days after DD were finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I was 12 when they did this concert. I was lucky enough that my parents let me see them in '84 when I was 14. My first concert ever and I'll never forget how magical it was. Such electricity. They're still so amazing live, even 40 years later. So lucky to have grown up with DD. So glad they are finally getting the accolades they deserve. What a fabulous band.
This is why we love the 80s. These guys were not just pretty boys but could really play and write great songs. A good measure of a band is how they sound live as apposed to the album. This sounds like the track. Great stuff.
Hola. Tengo 57 años y escucho a Duran Duran desde 1984......que hermosa época, años dorados, acá en Argentina.....y grandes bandas nacionales......pero los Duran Duran marcaron el camino
They were so beautiful that nobody noticed the musical quality and professionalism of composing playing and singing, a very complete group that reaped many successes
Nobody noticed? Are you nuts? They’ve always been huge! At least during my whole life! It was the music for me first and then the looks! Yes they’re handsome as heck but amazing musicians and masters at their art!
I was OBSESSED with John Taylor and Duran Duran in the 80's. Bought a bass guitar. Wore black pixie boots. Put Sun-In in my hair to get the blonde bit at the front. Oh and I wanted to marry him! Haha oh great memories!!
Priceless and nearly 40 years in the business outstanding thats why im alife long fan, i knew back then they where brilliant and had something especial, i first heard them on the radio in around 1980 a couldnt wait to see them on top of the pops couldnt believe it sounds great and first saw Simon le Bon wanted to marry him i though he was the most handsome man on earth, Duran Duran are a very underrated band Simons a great song writter they should be in the music hall of fame.
Totally Agree! I can never understand how most critics skip over John Taylor when talking about great bass players. They were heavily influenced by bands like Chic (you can tell with the bass) and of course kept working with Nile Rodgers. I have seen them live many times and they are always an amazing show. One of my favorite bands of all time.
@@deepakrama Yes. The interplay between John Taylor and the guitarist on Rio reminds me of Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush. I love bands that feature a prominent bass.
There is a RAW, almost-innocent energy in this show that is so infectious! I know the songs, but I'e never really heard them like this before... the strength of youth is so apparent.
he couldnt have been 25....hes from my home town , pinnner in nw londonin 83 i was 15 and simon was only 5-6 years older than me so that puts him at roughlyy 21 22 in this concert
At the time of this concert, their ages were: Simon 24 John 22 Roger 22 Andy 21 Nick 20 Thanks for sharing this footage, magnificent vintage Duran Duran.
Duran Duran is one Hell of a band. They just played at the Cruel World Festival in Pasadena, California this past May 11th. I wanted to be there so bad but I couldn’t make it. I did watch it all though and these guys still sound absolutely amazing.
Watching this almost 40 years later, makes me feel like a 15-year-old again. I'm not sure why Andy Taylor didn't get more love, he was totally cute. So glad they will all be there for the RNR HOF induction later this year!
Man these guys are fucking awesome players. I can't believe how good they sound live. Just crazy good. You can tell they played a lot to get where they are. Bass lines are crazy. Drums solid. Guitars are making the songs so much better and great backing vocals. Keyboards are very unique. Simon's voice is fuckin strong and just like the album.
@@morkygorky Simon's voice, like it or not, is iconic to the DD sound. It has pleading quality to it that is endearing to this fan and many others and no one else sounds like him. There are some DD songs I can't see anyone else doing justice as he owns them vocally. I will say that there are a few DD songs that I would have liked to hear with Andy's voice more out front (Careless Memory comes to mind) or maybe have Andy switch off in terms of leading vocals with Simon on a few songs to add a different flavor. Andy's early solo career showed off his voice more and IMO he had good enough vocals for this too have seriously been considered on a few tracks. His backing vocals added nicely to DD songs as it stands
@@needahandle I must admit that Simon Le Bons singing is better NOW than it ever was! - Shame John Taylor isn't singing, I liked his 7" for "Nine and a half Shades of Grey".....
@@morkygorkyThis reminds me of the story where U2's guitarist Edge was told by his GF that Bono can't sing, dump him. Yup, Bono and Lebon sort of proved all that wrong in an epic way as they became icons.
@@katanemes Indeed they are! In most people minds DD is just another 80s boygroup... But they were great musicans and awesome composers (New Religion, Come undone and stuff). Most people remember them because of The reflex and Is there something i should know but they were so much more. Especially with Andy they were such a strong, powerful liveband.
On my fiftieth birthday I was at a local Octoberfest seated at stage right; it was a excellent angle to observe the hard work of the band drummer! Elton John's manager said once it that since his client played a stationary instrument it was harder to "shine" during a performance than lead singers or guitarists! Believe me if there were no drums the audience would know!
Wouldn't say underrated, they have a well deserved successs and still rock! Even some centennials know about them! To me, they are as important as Queen or Wham.
Four years before I was even born. That gets you thinking. Even though you think you're special, the world was the world long before you and will be long after you.
They sounded this great if not BETTER on Saturday, August 26th 2023!! RIO is the song they closed with , EVERYONE AGES 9 TO 90 WHERE ON THEIR FEET, THEY WHERE ELECTRIC !! Side note: my inner preteen was healing that night 🥲🥲🥲!! Didn't realize how much I do love this band ...😭😭😭
I watched this when it aired, as I was glued to MTV in 1982. Duran Duran was my favorite band, but I kept it secret because I thought they were too effeminate, and I didn't want to be seen as effeminate. Today I know that they were The Beatles of my time, with a lead bassist, a rabid fanbase, amazing composition, electric energy and beautiful to look at. I had no idea at the time why I liked them, or how talented they were. I know now, and seeing this video cements my belief that they were my biggest musical influence in my life, moreso than The Beatles or Stevie Wonder or Jane's Addiction or The Beastie Boys. The first sax solo I ever heard was on Rio. My first hearing of a tritone or a ninth chord was probably them. Backbeat? Duran Duran was my first. I guess I lost my musical virginity to Duran Duran, and it was good.
I'm around the age of these guys and I remember hearing about them in the early to mid 80s and thought they were just a passing fancy. I was a heavy metal guy but then they did you to kill from James Bond and then John and Andy did power station with Robert Palmer and Tony Thompson from Chic and then I completely saw them differently. I never thought Duran would be around in 2024.
@SNORKYMEDIA John was self taught BUT he's more proficient player than anyone who learned formally that's one of many things that so genius about John. He wrote all his basslines and the music himself long before duran was signed by EMI. Bernard hadnt even met with John yet, or involved in the making of any duran's albums.
in 82 I lived around the block from the Palladium but could not get tickets so I just hung around 14th street to listen to the concert in the alleyway . 2 years later saw them at MSG,I was 18
I am a big, strong middle aged man... who is not ashamed to say that I would be screaming and crying for joy like a 12 year BTS fan when they started "Save A Prayer"... 15:43
What a setlist... absolutely legendary. What I would give to go back to simpler times, when the vibes were immaculate and the music was transcendent. 🎶
It's now August 2022 ( thats 40 years after this concert!) Duran Duran just played at MSG in NYC and they still sound great and after all these years Simon's voice still sounds great!
I am still in love with Duran Duran...*sigh* This sure does take me back... all of it, everything... just perfect. Roger and John Taylor... mindblowing.
That DD has been constantly overlooked for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a DISGRACE! Even then in '82, these guys were MINT and they just touched our shores! To this day, they are still going strong and their fan base is as dedicated as ever! I became a fan in '82 when seeing their faces on a cover of 16 Magazine. Then came this, aired as an MTV New Years Eve concert, and I was hooked, deep! Many passed them off as just some BOY BAND... what the f*** ever! These guys gave us ART! The Chauffer is still one of my all time favorite videos and My spouse and I donned our walls all NAGEL in homage to them, my favorite band EVER! Nick & John, I THANK YOU, immensely for it all! I look quite forward to their concert in Vegas, 2019!
Setlist Rio: 0:00 Hold Back The Rain: 5:52 New Religion: 9:58 Save A Prayer: 15:42 Hungry Like The Wolf: 22:00 Planet Earth: 26:12 Careless Memories: 30:38 Girls On Film: 34:49
How could anyone have called them a boyband? Fascinating to see them play this gig. Great musicians that get overlooked way too often. Their sound was so much more original and creative compared to the usual rock bands that were big at the time. Simons dancing hasn’t improved much though ha
They didn’t get any respect from the “true musicians” because they were a dance rock band and were “pretty boys with cool hair.” The story’s different today, though. People are waking up to what the fans have always known. Dx2 are an amazing group of talented musicians.
Andy and John gave Duran Duran some balls along with the solid drum playing from Roger, creative soundscapes on the keys with Nick and the pure sounding and distinctive vocals of Simon.
Duran Duran, one of the greatest NEW WAVE band of all times, in top of their game, throwing a epic new years party to a crowd that didn't deserve them. Oh, the injustice! Amazing display of everything, those were the times!!!
AMEN! NYE in NY, an iconic venue at MTV party!!! They were on top of the world this night and it shows! This was their moment to grab the "world domination by 1984" dream and they knew this filming would take them beyond the drunken execs at the party...A great moment in time captured.
@@gumusluk05 They have been. Critics panned them all the time. Their fans and actual musicians know better. I know some musicians in their 50's and they say that Duran Duran was the most underrated band. They love the rhythm section the most. John and Roger were great. Andy was when he played with Power Station because he could show off his guitar solo skills with that style of music.
The play on words is fun- Rio means river, Rio spelled with an accent over the "o" means she laughed (in the past tense, not the past perfect tense), and Rio is the name of the girl the song is about. "Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand. Just like that River twisting through a dusty land." When my high school Spanish class had to chose names from a list of common names used by Spanish speakers, I chose Rio- a name not on the list. My teacher allowed it only if I put an accent over the "i" so as not to confuse it with river or she laughs. · Reply · 44m My all time fav song.
@@andreamariterickson5885 Great analysis! The only wrong thing is that "Río", with the accent (tilde) actually means river. Greetings from Argentina :)
2023, 40 years later, and this stuff still runs circles around the music in the last 4 decades. Let's hope the high inflation, gas prices, doddering coot and every other wacky condition we had in the 70's squeezes out another awesome music scene like we had in the 80s. God knows just about everyone's kids got into mom and dad's record collection and will be right next to them at the concerts. lol
I had just started playing bass when “Rio” came out. I was so impressed with John Taylor’s playing that I went out and got a set up just like his: an Aria Pro 2 SB700 and a Peavey amp. I played that combo for the next ten years

I was looking for a keyboard to hook up to the pc with that MIDI wizardry back in 1989, it had to have the pitch bend to sound like the lead in Save a prayer. So I got a roland D5 (little bro of the D50). Still works.
Duran Duran have endured & proved to their critics that they weren't just a band of good looking boys who'd soon die away along with the rest of most of the new romantic scene... Not many bands can proudly proclaim that they've released 14 Studio Albums plus 1 studio album separately as The Powerstation & Arcadia to huge success., Then when you take the Live Concerts & compilations into the equation your easily talking about over 20 plus albums... They were great from the start & proved they could play Live & opened up for some of the biggest acts at that time like Blondie... But for me the main thing is that they have constantly continued to grow & change musically as a band & they always try to shake things up with each New Album & Paper Gods has been easily one of their best to date... Here's to the 15th Studio Album when they get round to recording it... .....
Taylor, Harris, and Lee. The Holy Triumvirate of 1980s bassists. With Honorable Mention to Michael Anthony for giving Van Halen their signature vocal sound with his high harmonies.
Why don't there exist any more good footage of the early years of this band? It's outrageous there's so little from this early, most vibrant era. It's just like how there's no footage of Van Halen and Ozzy with Rhoads. Its ridiculous. Thank you so much for posting this rare, great show. Just amazing

agreed 100%. rapCrap is pushed by the media bosses for a reason.
What happened to melodic pop??
Check out Cory Wong he’s bringing life back to the younger music scene.

I'm floored that people are just sitting around and looking unaffected by the music. How dull must you be to be unmoved by the energy.
NY yuppies. What do you expect? Yuppie music for pricks.
This is why we love the 80s. These guys were not just pretty boys but could really play and write great songs. A good measure of a band is how they sound live as apposed to the album. This sounds like the track. Great stuff.
Yes !! and th 80’s were th best time to b alive !!
Hola. Tengo 57 años y escucho a Duran Duran desde 1984......que hermosa época, años dorados, acá en Argentina.....y grandes bandas nacionales......pero los Duran Duran marcaron el camino
They were so beautiful that nobody noticed the musical quality and professionalism of composing playing and singing, a very complete group that reaped many successes
yes. and still doing quite well. new album in the works!
Totally 💯 still excellent as well which is wonderful 💕
Nobody noticed? Are you nuts? They’ve always been huge! At least during my whole life! It was the music for me first and then the looks! Yes they’re handsome as heck but amazing musicians and masters at their art!
are you a 12 year old girl? This band had no musical acumen whatsoever, there were pants.
U speak the truth, GODS !
This is not music.
This is Legend.
I was OBSESSED with John Taylor and Duran Duran in the 80's. Bought a bass guitar. Wore black pixie boots. Put Sun-In in my hair to get the blonde bit at the front. Oh and I wanted to marry him! Haha oh great memories!!
Oh my goodness so much energy!!!!!
That *SETLIST!!!!*
Those are literally the BEST Duran Duran *BASSLINE* songs!!!
Right! I personally love My Own Way for its bassline as well
Totally agree!!
Duran Duran's rythhm section was so powerful. Man, they could support any frontman... Love their early years...
John Taylor on top of his game! Dig that bassline...
ak bass Hes. Master.
ak bass no. doubt
He played so dominantly in the early 80s.
@@marlasecrist9537 John Taylor is a pure genius
It’s amazing how well Simon can sing, even when performing live and dancing around!
Powerful lungs!. People dont realize how hard that is to do and still sound good
And he still does at 60 something years old! I just saw them live this year of 2023 and they’re still amazing and Simon sounds exactly the same!❤
Man Duran Duran is the sh**!! This bass player is one of the reason why I fell in love playong the bass
John taylor is THE MAN
You are correct....great bass playing! Exquisite tone, too.
Best Bassist in the music industry!!
When sound engineering could not change and override what the band was doing ❤❤
There is a RAW, almost-innocent energy in this show that is so infectious! I know the songs, but I'e never really heard them like this before... the strength of youth is so apparent.
i cant believe how young they were. back then, simon was the "old" one , ha, hes 25-ish here.
he couldnt have been 25....hes from my home town , pinnner in nw londonin 83 i was 15 and simon was only 5-6 years older than me so that puts him at roughlyy 21 22 in this concert

Thanks for sharing this footage, magnificent vintage Duran Duran.
Andy Taylor as backup vocalist. Wow! Awesome!
He’s an amazing singer. You should listen to his solo albums!
Andy Hamilton is also performing backup vocals.
right out of the gate, Duran Duran's bassist is phenomenal...I never realized! Wow!
He's a tasty funky player. I reckon he is the Key to their sound
John taylor is also the key to their success.
@@mshadow6147 also wouldn't be Duran Duran without Simon's vocals!
Yeah but there wouldn't be duran if john never started the band at the first place

Duran Duran is one Hell of a band. They just played at the Cruel World Festival in Pasadena, California this past May 11th. I wanted to be there so bad but I couldn’t make it. I did watch it all though and these guys still sound absolutely amazing.
Rob, saw them in Atlanta June 15 2023.. 18000 sellout, blew my mind!!! It was great .... just missing AndyT though
Still gives me the chills after all of these years. Simon was the dreamiest dream ever.
I had a massive crush on him.
Gorgeous man. He still is! I just saw them this year and he still has it in 2023!
😍😍😍
Watching this almost 40 years later, makes me feel like a 15-year-old again. I'm not sure why Andy Taylor didn't get more love, he was totally cute. So glad they will all be there for the RNR HOF induction later this year!
Duran Duran. On the cutting edge of 80' s new wave. Props to them.
Man these guys are fucking awesome players. I can't believe how good they sound live. Just crazy good. You can tell they played a lot to get where they are. Bass lines are crazy. Drums solid. Guitars are making the songs so much better and great backing vocals. Keyboards are very unique. Simon's voice is fuckin strong and just like the album.
just a shame about Le Bon's voice - their songs were great but the squealing vocals..... tsk tsk

The drummer is insane with that high energy hi-hat work!! Underrated band.
He is but not underrated band at all.
Not an underrated band by any means! I am forever a Duranie. John, Nick, Simon, Roger, Andy!
I saw them on August 24th in Sacramento, and I feel the same way!!! DD4EVER!!!
Roger is killing it!!
That bass is legit
Should be, Bernard Edwards of chic invented it and taught it to him
@SNORKYMEDIA John was self taught BUT he's more proficient player than anyone who learned formally that's one of many things that so genius about John. He wrote all his basslines and the music himself long before duran was signed by EMI. Bernard hadnt even met with John yet, or involved in the making of any duran's albums.
And so was Neurotic Outsiders.

Tonight in Chicago, they’ll play six of these songs from 12/31/1982! Almost 4 decades later the set hasn’t changed much.
They called them boyband because they were all hot as heck and people were jealous that they were that hot and could also play amazing music.

They love the rhythm section the most. John and Roger were great. Andy was when he played with Power Station because he could show off his guitar solo skills with that style of music.
Rio has such a busy and addicting bass line. The muted notes he doesn't hit are just as important than the ones that ring out
Yeah, just love the way he tickles them!!

Duran Duran have endured & proved to their critics that they weren't just a band of good looking boys who'd soon die away along with the rest of most of the new romantic scene...
Not many bands can proudly proclaim that they've released 14 Studio Albums plus 1 studio album separately as The Powerstation & Arcadia to huge success.,
Then when you take the Live Concerts & compilations into the equation your easily talking about over 20 plus albums...
They were great from the start & proved they could play Live & opened up for some of the biggest acts at that time like Blondie...
But for me the main thing is that they have constantly continued to grow & change musically as a band & they always try to shake things up with each New Album & Paper Gods has been easily one of their best to date...
Here's to the 15th Studio Album when they get round to recording it...
.....
Hope they get around to it when all this pandemic goes away
@@marialemos1495
Hi Maria,
The guys from Duran Duran have never been closer than they are now as they have overcome all the obstacles put in front of them either by detractors or by themselves & they have maintained that as long as they've got something worth writing & recording then they will do it & see where it goes from there...
As its not just Simon that writes all the lyrics & other members of the band will collaborate but in the early years Simon's back catalogue of songs which were eventually recorded over various decades were more often than not difficult to dissect & interpret...
Its also helped that Simon's lyrics since The Wedding Album onwards have not had lyrical content that was so ambiguous at times & I think that's why Andy & John weren't unhappy with " The Seven & The Ragged Tiger " Album & also were the band were headed musically...
I think they just wanted a break & went on to record " The Power Station " album to just blow off some steam & write & record songs that spoke to them more at that particular time as that album was definitely a Funk Rock album which is what the guys needed...
As no doubt they would've been wanting to do this with Duran Duran but they both knew that this type of genre/musical approach & lyrics were not what you'd expect from a Duran Duran album, even though they have written & performed songs that have rock & funk within them...
As I've i think John & Andy wanted to just blow the doors off by going a different route & playing music that wasnt meant to be a musical journey for all the members of Duran Duran...
After finishing their 3rd album John & Andy were happy with the musical content/even the ambiguous lyrics, as they were still proud of the album they recorded but they felt it was fast becoming to ambiguous & I've alway thought of Simon as a Poet First & Lyricist & Singer 2nd...
I remember him saying in an interview that a few years prior to that interview that his daughter asked him if we/as in the Le Bon family/were going to be alive because of the state of the world is in because of the way in which it is run by Politicians & Dictators & thats when he penned the lyrics for the song " What Happens Tomorrow " which eventually made its way on to the 2004 Studio Album which was recorded & worked on from 2001 to 2004 & you clearly see that Simon lyrics spoke of what's happening in the world...
For what I've heard the lyrics of that song are practically verbatim for what he said to his daughter to comfort her & try to assure her that tomorrow is not set in stone but that doesn't mean that when we get to tomorrow it won't be a place that we don't want to live in, as we have the capacity to change & make a better tomorrow...
I could go on about corrupt politicians, which isn't a new thing & has been there since the birth of politics... But its these idiots that start wars that our family members & friends go off to fight in & may die & with all the other things happening with the ozone & many other things that were probably on his daughters mind, he did what any good father would do & that was to reassure & comfort her that what she was thinking was completely normal & that we all worry about these things, but as he's says on this song " Nobody Knows " but we will continue forward for a better tomorrow & believe that we can make a difference for the better good & to stay positive...
I'll put the lyrics below so you see what I mean about Simon writing songs that are about what we either all worry about or suffer from & he also wrote 2 songs to help him cope & deal with the loss of a very close friend & again when you read the lyrics to those songs, everything is there in front of you & you can understand what he's trying to convey within his lyrics...
But now go back to their 3rd album & listen to songs like New Moon On Monday/The Reflex & Union Of The Snake as just a few examples & you could easily ask of these lyrics " Simon, what the hell are you singing about! "
I had a rough idea about what " The Reflex " was about as he was almost writing an updated version of " Hungry Like The Wolf " which was about Duran Duran's drive & hunger to succeed & continue to try & keep going & " The Reflex " is all the things that fame/fortune & vices can bring you & not always for the better, but you've still got to continue on & learn from one's mistakes, which is easier said than done when your in the position they were & still are in...
I've found i could figure out most of what Simon was writing with the first 2 Album but by the 3rd album I can honestly say that I liked what I heard musically but the lyrics were just too far out there...
Simon like the rest of the band had to eventually grow up & you can see & hear this with each new studio album but Simon definitely writes in a less ambiguous way as compared to the first 3 albums & their last studio album " Paper Gods " proves my theory to be correct, as Simon is writing songs that again are easier to understand & are about certain topics we can all relate to & understand...
In light of the still ongoing coronavirus stay safe and healthy wherever you are in the world...
" What Happens Tomorrow " Lyrics
Child, don't you worry
It's enough your growing up in such a hurry
Brings you down, the news they sell ya
To put in your mind that all mankind is a failure
But nobody knows
What's gonna happen tomorrow
We try not to show
How frightened we are
If you love me, I'll protect you
However I can
You've got to believe
It'll be alright in the end
Fighting because we're so close
There are times we punish those who we need the most
Though we can't wait for a saviour
Only got ourselves to blame for this behaviour
And nobody knows
What's gonna happen tomorrow
We try not to show
How frightened we are
Would seem lonely
If you were the only
star in the night?
You've got to believe
It'll be alright in the end
You've got to believe
It'll be alright again
Time is a ribbon, a silent icy river (froze us all)
Running deep, deep and fast
Enough to get lost down in the flow
Crashing around
These tiny lives mean everything
And nobody knows
What's gonna happen tomorrow
So don't let go
Now we've come this far
Hold my hand please
Understand me
You're never alone
We've got to believe
It'll be alright in the end
(Nobody knows)
You've got to believe
It'll be alright my friend
Da, da, da, da
And yes we believe
It'll be alright again
(Nobody knows)

The tone to his voice is incredible live!
John is just killing it!
I site him as an influence just as easily as Steve Harris or Gerry Lee!
Attaboy, Nigel!😎
Geddy Lee
Taylor, Harris, and Lee. The Holy Triumvirate of 1980s bassists. With Honorable Mention to Michael Anthony for giving Van Halen their signature vocal sound with his high harmonies.
Why don't there exist any more good footage of the early years of this band? It's outrageous there's so little from this early, most vibrant era. It's just like how there's no footage of Van Halen and Ozzy with Rhoads. Its ridiculous. Thank you so much for posting this rare, great show. Just amazing
there's actually a little footage on UA-cam of their days at the Rum Runner...crazy stuff
