People who time stamp songs are the best people you’ll ever meet
Give that drummer a bonus! I mean, fucking hell! He's working hard, into it, good, and losing skin. It's hard work!
Mark King is so brilliant. One of the most underrated musicians of our time.
Mark King is the Best of the Best of the Best
Mark King is not or ever has been underrated. The band is Jazz Funk so it's music base is much narrower but is accessable for those with a discernable ear, but never underrated. This word along with RIP should be banned on UA-cam, as it's always misused.
People keep using this underrated quote. Underrated by who? He's not underrated, in the 80s in the UK he was one of the best bass players around, in demand. He's had his career they're getting old, New people coming through all the time. It's the natural passage of time and life.
Here is a Fan from Japan😊🇯🇵The Band And Mark King are very Nice🎸for us still in 2024!!
Despite there huge success, hits, and talent, I always thought Level 42 were vastly underappreciated.
Mark is an absolute Legend in the Bass Community and Mike has one of the most incredible voices around.
Lately, there seems to be a huge resurgence and interest in the band, I hope it continues because it deserves too.
Darren Lee I’ve been a big fan since the World Machine album. My buddy and I saw the original lineup (Mark, Mike, Boon & Phil) open for Steve Winwood at Madison Square Garden, and saw them again three times in August 1987. We even had the pleasure of meeting them both before the show and then backstage afterwards. They will forever be one of my favorite bands!!
@@bigdaddykeysDABELTKING61 That is so awesome, thank you for sharing. My only regret is I never got to see them live back in the day. I live in Australia now and they never really come out here. Hopefully next time I am in the UK I might still get the chance.
Darren Lee the only time they came to the U.S. after the time I saw them in 1987 was in 2010 for the 30th Anniversary tour. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to see them then when they came back to New York. They haven’t been back here since because it’s not financially feasible for them to do so. At this point I don’t think that they’ll ever come back here😞😞
@@MyCovertNarcissism 24th April 2021 at the Palais in Melbourne, hopefully will go ahead after being postponed from this year
@@groovychocolate Thanks for letting me know, I really hope so, fingers crossed.
the audio production crew responsible for what we're hearing here deserve particular recognition for this mix. gary's snare cuts like a hot knife through butter
everything sounds very clear and open. Very nice in the uppertreble region.
So good
It all sounds amazing
@@KneppaH Yep...brilliant backing crew.
Better than the record in some ways. Great work by everyone
約40年前からずっとLEVEL42の音楽と共に人生を過ごしています。唯一無二の、最高のバンド❤
9月の来日を楽しみにしています。
One of the best live bands around..Real music..Real musicians.
Unfortunately not so much. Love them but lots of stuff running in sync on tape/backing tracks
Not bad though coming up to 40 years...
Hola buenas noches a todos excelente banda lo escucho desde los 18 años y siempre hsn tocado al mejor nivel.!!!
@@jeroenravesloot not sure i believe that,
Definitely Simon, absolutely Fantastic, Love Mark King and the other band members. Grew up in Ireland in my teens, and from the first time I heard Level 42, I absolutely loved them.
I’m 25 years old and I love fusion jazz/jazz rock so much. Just found out about this band. They are so damn good!!!! Classic bands just sound way better than 98% of bands today. I can get jiggy with this!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
the world needs more beautiful souls like you! bless you my soul brother
Check out Jamiroquai also. Acid Jazz.
@@thomasmorrison3279 Great recommendation my friend. Same kinda vibe. One of my favorites for sure!
Glad you notice a difference...

Awesome playlist includes all the best hits and my favorites
no good man in an storm :-((((
I've listened to thousands of concerts over the years but this one is the best mixed i've ever heard, you can hear every vocal, instrument etc...job well done.
Sound crystal clear ... especially the fast breaking slapping bassing speed... that’s it , I am done. I love to slap my bass at home..👍👍
Totally agreed, I'm listening on Kali LP-6 studio monitors and I was absolutely dumbfounded when the band came in. I've now found another audio reference for mixing my own tracks.
The Dutch from personal experience are very good at sound.
I could'nt agree more!
Sirens 2015 was also super good
I love the sound of Level 42 since the mid 1980s - and they are still unique, wonderful, unreachable.
Mark King...Incredible voice, bassist, arranger, song writer, you name it! 80's music was da bomb!!! I discovered them on the radio Something About You and Lessons In Love. Fantastic and this band is phenomenal as well as the stereo mix.
easily one of the most underrated group of musicians and performers in the past 40 years. especially since they even ventured into the "pop" realm! and they originated from my neck of the woods in the holiday parks on the isle of wight!
Level 42 has always been one of my favorite bands. I saw them live in the 80's and they outshined Steve Winwood. As a musician for a big part of my live I can really appreciate their musicianship. Noted that the bass player plays some extremely intricate patters and still sings over them. AMAZING!
Wow I never appreciated how deep this band went .. Hard to play bass and lead yet he captures all my attention
Mark King is a beast on bass! He's definitely underated. Level 42 was (IMO) one of the best '80s bands.
Underrated! You are joking aren’t you? He’s widely regarded as one of the world’s best bass players.
@@fannyingabout yes but only outside of the mainstream. us musos appreciate greatness :-)
I think you are confusing well-known/notorious/famous with underrated.
I think that nearly every bass player knows Mark King. Until today I was only able to find one bass player that didn't know Mark King.
Then again you can find lists of "best bass players" and barely/never see his name pop up. I guess those guys that write articles like "top 50 best bass players of all time" and forget Mark King should be fired because clearly missed a milestone in 50 years of bass.
@@BennyboyTruth Maybe it’s my age then. But when people say underrated they never qualify it with who they think ‘are’ rated - at least then we’d have something to debate.
RIP Alan Murphy, Allen Holdsworth and Rowland Boon Gould.
The music will live forever.
Who ever was the sound engineers, they did an Amazing job.
i thought exactly the same
they did, except the sax sound could be richer.
@@jonathanbower863 we found the sax player! xD
Listen to this Concert have same Sound!

This Boys are Pro Musican, they know how loud
anyone has to be, there is no "Soldier of Fortune" Game!
That is "Team Work!"
His name may have been Ian Colville. He sound engineered for them through this period I think. He was my mate. I guy with a brain and a heart as big as a planet. ❤️
It's a shame that there's no more groups like this that plays the songs in the original Tempo. Everybody else is in a Hurry to go through the motions and get off the stage. Awesome Vocals. Everything!. Live Forever!. Great Sound Tech also!. Great Job!. Fellows.
Insanely tight... Especially mr Pink! This is crazy stuff. Not many (pop) bands are capable of pulling this off. Big respect for them.
Gary Husband....incredible musician, drummer, piano player....Amazing groove and sound....
his skills are phenomenal
is he the same Gary Husband who played keyboards with John McLaughlin at Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2007? If he is, then geeeeez, awesome jazz electric piano there. 👌👌 Benjie/Philippines.
Level 42 never gets old!
Real musicians, real music, real skills!
Yes, no computer musicians. the drummer is awesome!
Great band, vastly underrated. NOBODY slaps a bass like Mark. Love it. Fine musicians, every one.
Louis Johnson was a hella bassplayer too but he can;t sing like Mark, that is fo ' sho'
Wow. This is a record mix - SUPER good - absolutely releasable.. The separation is tight, vocal blends are clear and crisp. Sons and Daughters was SICK. It's really great to listen to these songs in such an amazing live show so many years later. MK is still a beast.
This is one hell of a great gig in every respect, sound, visuals, performance. Just perfect.
Awesome! I love this recording with Gary on drums.
his kit sounds beautiful
Excellent mix... Incredible band... WE NEED MORE MUSIC LIKE THIS!
it WAS an excellent mix...... but just "good mix" for a live performance..... the live feel and ambiance in the mix was lacking..... but it was great to watch!
Check out Dirty Loops!
Totally!!!!
It seems overly compressed and also there is synth bass dubbed in.
Sax is a bit too much high end and could be better - it has a richer sound than what we hear...
Mother of, GOD!!!! I never knew King could play like this!!! Holy shit!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Where you been Bro? 😂
@@rogerhoner3718 Apparently under a rock! And the funny thing is, I've been an entertainer my entire life and actually covered a couple of his songs with one of the bands I put together just for fun... It was a big, really heavy rock, BTW. 😂
@@kstrauss100 Enjoy buddy!
He's been doing it for over 40 years man lol
Gary Husband just ripped the drum universe a new one.
WOW!
The guvnor
That snare work on TPOA is mindbending.
Jetzt erst entdeckt.....unfassbar......WoW
A show from nearly ten years ago, but there only getting better. These guys are musicians!
Like level 42 love Holland 🤩
One of the best bass players around and easily one of top singing/front man bass players hands down.
Absolutely .I met them many years ago and they were really cool .
true.
Best bass player front man is Les Claypool period.
@@king0cans No fucking way!! LOL He's the most over-rated clown around
Definitely him and geddy lee, paul maccartney. My faves!
My favorite band always delivers. Superb performance.
Man...they sound amazing! Brilliant performance! Gary Husband rocks!!
Great band artists musicians fun videos welcome back to them fun 80s 🎙🎹🎸🎷🎺🥁 jpp Québec city
I can not believe they hadn’t played The Machine Stops live until this point. Great live performance of an absolute banger of a track!!!
Always loved the bass of Mark King. Sublime.
The greatest band on the planet!!! Simply AWESOME!!
Greatest Bassist of all time... Mark King... Level 42 , i loved this band ever.
You forget the one n´ only: NHOP - Nils Henning Orstad Pederson.
Yes!!!
49:05 Something About You
1:12:30 Starchild
1:18:30 Lessons in Love
Not a full tracklist but it should help with the songs you might want to hear :)
Scary, the sheer high detail every song is played by the band! Respect is due!! Jawdropping high level precisionship of classic Level 42 songs by leader/writer Mark and brilliant session musicians.. 👍👍👍
'It's over' will always be my favorite Level 42 song. The feel is right there.
Mark king is a superb bass player just astonishing.
what a fantastic band, so many golden song.❤❤❤❤❤
Gary Husband will always be the Man.... Genius!
He's so talented that he plays keyboards in Billy Cobham's band!
@@rcbennett6592 Wow
Also with John Mc Gaughlin@@rcbennett6592..
yes is is a great keys player as well check him out at London bass show with mark king and Pete ray biggin who for me is a fantastic drummer the stuff he has done with the pb underground is brilliant
@@grahamthomas6105 Hey could you please post that link? I'd love to see Pete Ray Biggin play alongside Gary Husband (his idol)!
Awesome live band - still one of my favorites after all the years 👏🙏👍
Seen these guys, various line ups but still the best band, 10 times and counting. Gary Husband on drums, just one of the best.
Great Great Sound and musicians, Voice Clear, strong and accurat, wish could see them live soon nearby…
The 28 with the thumbs down? Which planet are you on?! This is musical perfection. Level 43.
Pop, Jazzfunk, Jazzrock, Ballads - everything in world class manner. Brilliant and absolute unique band.
Wow! They sound amazing!
That guy is the best background singer of all time
That's Nathan King, Marks younger brother. Great singer, guitarist and as you would guess, a nifty bassist. Check out some of his bass reviews on UA-cam at Anderson's Music shop.
The sound quality of this live gig is incredible.
THIS IS JUST WONDERFUL, THE PICTURE IS PERFECT, IT’S SO CLEAR, I JUST LOVE IT! IT SHOWS JUST HOW GOOD THIS BAND REALLY IS.
What an amazing drummer
Gary Husband is an amazing drummer!
Yeah so solid!!
Absolutely amazing, yeah! There are so many nuances, great technique and musicality on his playing! Perfectly blending with the great compositions of this band of incredible musicians. For example the 16th note foot hi-hat pattern over a natural drum playing in the whole song ua-cam.com/video/iB5QGi1Dvw0/v-deo.html or the open handed playing, astonish precision and dynamics ua-cam.com/video/iB5QGi1Dvw0/v-deo.html
Oh yes! He's an amazing keyboard player too, I think he benefits from both trades.
If gavin Harrison rates him he must be good.
It's so impossible (and wrong) to give a top 3 of drummers, but I'm not ashamed to say: 1) Manu Katche, 2) Simon Phillips, 3) Gary Husband. Whoops, there it is, and it could be different for a million reasons and other players, but I like Gary Husband so much, yes I do !
A class act back in the day and still to this day . Great musicians 😉😁
Spot on in high school days thats all i listened to
this is the best level 42 concert footage there is! incredible set list and the sound is spot on - gary's drums sound massive!
Very well said... Showing the 'young herberts' of today how to play live... And agreed one of the best musically and visually ive seen
Yes the sound mix is spot on, best I've heard, particularly the drums. It's amazing👏
check out the lugano gig the following year with pete on drums. equally awesome
Never get tired of seeing them live. First gig was in 1982. Where did the years go.
I’m Irish and loved level42 from the beginning of the early tapes I’m a seasoned fan would love them returning to Dublin in my mind they are worthy of a bigger venue than vicar st
what a great drummer Gary husband!!!!
Now i'm a true reggae music lover, but these guys are truely incredible!
Roosevelt Demps, from the Billion $ Band. You guys are still amazing all these years. I'll listen and watch your video's forever. Everyone in the band are fantastic players, especially the Bass player. And you all sing great. One of my best Groups of all times.
Mark King is probably the best bassist ever , who plays the best bass guitar ever - that thing can even play itself !
yes outstanding bass solo into Love Games :D
And has a fabulous voice
I always liked them but I never thought they were *THIS* good. Wow ! Gary Husband's drums really pulling it all together I think.
Yup, hell of a drummer. Love it.
Perfection! I was listening to one of their full albums and this concert came up automatically on Autoplay, so I thought it was another studio cut until the audience break in the first song. INCREDIBLE. Would love to hear them live!!
This band is só awesome ! So unique.
Mark King...The Baddest Bass Musician on the planet.
What a fantastic band!
I listened to Level 42 non-stop in the 80's..wore my cassettes thin.. but, they sound so much better live!! what a groove..! Awesome musicians! 👌
I think i've seen Level 42 over 6 times play in the Netherlands. Every 2 years in Heerlen and also in other Dutch cities.
My alltime favourite is Forever Now and is all about the times we are experiencing right now and the times before. I wish we had Forever Now before March 2020...
When you wanna be a drummer but end up playing bass ... you'll slap the shit out of that instrument.
Great live performance, sounds pretty much the same as what they recorded and that's what I love about those REAL artists.
Your right it sounds very close to the original recordings even "something about you" which I heard is a difficult track to do live.
mark still jams on percussion with pete at some of their recent gigs
Fantastic!! Beast of a bass player.
Level 42 were the first big live band I had ever seen at 17. Philipshalle, Dusseldorf, Germany 1984. Level 42 will always have a special place in my heart, Mark King is still the best bass player of all time.
I think that this is the best they've ever sounded!
Holy Mother of God! That bass!
God they still sound bloody great and I gave this video the 4000th thumbs up and well deserved :)
Amazing sound mix. Vocals, bass, and drums are off the charts. It is nice to see so many positive comments about Level 42. Yes, they should have been BIGGER in the US but remember, they sold 31,000,000 records. Underrated, yes, but respected far and wide. Top five bass player of all time in Mark King, dual vocals off the charts and drumming to beat. LOL.
One of the best Jazzfunk bands....Love Games.
Holy shit that bassist is insane.
I remember hearing Something About You when I was about 10 years old ___ always stuck in my head ___ but had no idea how incredible this entire band is. Where the hell have I been all these years? Absolutely amazing musicians and vocals
Amazing......the lagend muzik level 42 band.......and happynest
This was my first concert with my dad at 14 years old. So grateful to have experienced this.
arent u a big girl now!
Naomi M Great first concert!
It was also my first concert but that was in the late eighties :)
He's dressed like if he just went out of the office for a cool afterwork.. love it ! xD ..and thumb up for the sound engineer, mix is awesome.
Can't enough of these guys since 1986!! Mark King - best of the best bassists.
I saw them a month ago in Hengelo, the Netherlands, after I saw them before in 1981 in Borne and a long time ago in Enschede and in Groningen. Still this is a brilliant band with a great performance! Please keep going on for a while Mark, Mike and other band members!
Gary Husband, brilliant drummer/ keyboard player. The BEST!!!
Last time I saw him play live was a show in Singapore with John McLaughlin, he switched back and forth between drums and keyboards - amazing!
Good lord: sound quality is great, camera shots are solid, and the performance is...wow!!
right on. my favorite is "Man" and "Mr. Pink" back-to-back starting @ 54:18 or so, but what a fantastic performance all the way through!
@@aj-sk2nf 57:09 Is the first time I can remember saying "wow" out loud from Gary's drumming here. Not that he isn't a fantastic drummer, but after years of Pete's insanity, it's really cool to see that Gary was still able to blaze through an awesome fill (along with Nathan's sweet guitar work leading up to Gary's fill). Such a great recording, best I've seen from the best, just in terms of production quality. They were playing like they had one take for an album.
Welcome in Holland ;-)
Yes, all very good, aside lighting imho, that looks like an indian pizzeria most of the times... lol
Very low budget for the set as well, not even a cyclorama or some sort of decoration... However, don't really care, they fukkkkkin PLAY and sound is great!!!
Brilliant and Mike Lindup never ages
Hah true lol!
I'll never forget the moment around early '86 I first heard Something About You on the radio and was struck by a truly gifted bunch of musicians. Their name struck me as well as a statement about where they were -- like 42 levels above the shite!
some 30 years on the rest is still shite !
They put the funk in my trunk......been a Fan since 1983 seen them many a time.......most excellent live band
Always loved them!!! Such a good Groove!!!
having found this by random and previously only been exposed to the one song that had radio play in the USA, this was incredible. I can't believe they weren't big win the USA. This entire show from content to production was awesome!
For no particular reason, this band had fallen out of my consciousness for a couple of decades. Early this morning, their name slipped into my sleepy brain, and this was the first gig I clicked on. WOW! SO professional. Oh, the wasted years !
All my youth I listen to Level 42, always good. This concert is really A W E S O M E. Thanks Level 42
I love this band! From Brazil ❤
Being honest, this is not what I expected, but I was blown away. The band has a tight musical sound performed by talented musicians. Kudos to Level 42!
Mark King Rocks! Hello from across the pond.
Incredible voices. Incredible music. Wonderful.
Gary Husband taking it easy playing pop music!
Mark King is the stuff!
ua-cam.com/video/g5fELmH52no/v-deo.html I totally agree 👍🏻👍🏻stumbled across this interesting character who dissects and reacts to great 70’s and 80’s music😊he has an eclectic taste you might enjoy!
