Ezra is that guy who keeps everyone laughing in Red Phase Army BCT, or a while enduring a dull class in school, or working some crappy job carrying railroad ties for 11 hours. Smart guy with the wrenching too. Every workplace needs a guy like him.
For sure. It's awesome seeing a young man that passionate and knowledgeable about a machine that is probably 10 or 15 years older then he is, gives all us old farts hope for the future.
@_Frank_the_Tank fully agree. I will admit, he is probably only 5-10 years younger than me.its amazing that they will keep the technology alive for us. I do hope they do an old bsa 50 revival but probs never gna happen
Ezra is a great addition to the channel. He's incredibly knowledgeable and a natural teacher, plus he is very entertaining and humorous. A quadruple threat [asset]! Thanks team 😁
Ezra seems to know quite a bit about the ATC's for his age. I can remember when these things were in showrooms when I was a kid. Currently, I have 5 Honda ATCs including 2 fully suspended 1983 185s. One with a Pk suspension kit and the other with a Hi Performance ATC kit.
Hey Kevin, I’m 63 years old and I still have a 1985 Honda Big Red 250 ES and it’s the shaft drive with a reverse! I bought it new in 1985 for 1,900 hundred dollars and a couple years ago I just put new tires and brakes on it, it’s a Honda and it’s still running brother! I still use it around my house to pull stuff around and I built a 4X4 trailer for it! I’m usually loading it with leaves and branches good for working in the yard! I don’t hunt anymore but I’ve hauled all of my gear and a 180lb buck out of the woods with it and no problem with power! It’s a workhorse, when I was younger I’d take it to a gravel and sand pit and we would climb those walls that were probably 70-80 degrees and 100 feet high and I was riding my wife too! No strain at all! My buddy had a Yamaha Tri-Z, 250 with a chain of sprocket and no reverse! I could out pull him and keep up with him but I couldn’t pass him! It was fun but I’m too old for that speed now so now I ride my Harley Davidson Heritage soft tail classic, just cruising!
That brings back memories !!! Bought one new in 1983 for $1395.00. You could not hurt this thing. Even could start under water aslong as the air intake up at the neck was out of water. Could even start by hand under water just getting to compression stroke and thump it by hand. Never even had to choke it in cold 15 degree weather. Good memeories!!!
The thing you're fighting with that requires the custom tool is also a centrifugal oil filter Most people didn't knew it exist and got low oil pressure or even burn bearings because of it gunking up
Safety tip. Got real lucky with that mini shop vac and extracting gasoline. The fuel vapor entering the vac motor pass the electric motor brushes Spark and we have lift off.😂 Most any of those motors aren't brushless. So use caution doing that with any rich more explosive gasolina ⛽️
Kevin, you’re one of a few mechanical content creators that I watch on UA-cam. Every creator has interesting content, but I find you, your friends, and family hilarious on top of that. Keep up the great work!
Ok, Ezra is awesome. That kid has more knowledge than he should, and he is very humble about it. Kevin, you did a great job holding the camera for him on this one.
@20:08 when Ezras splitting the case with the hammer, I had a flashback to the movie Hotrod when hes hitting the engine with a hammer to impress the girl 😂
I have an 83 200x as well, they are a blast to ride! There is actually supposed to be oil in the stator area, no issues there. You can make a little more power by swapping in the xr200 cam, carb and piston. DG is about the only company still making a pipe for the 200x but a crf230 pipe can be fitted with a few mods.
We used a built 87 200 from powroll in are 1/2 Midgets. 4x national champion from 99 to 2003. Ran on methanol. Baddest engines we ever ran in that class!!!
Just started watching this episode.... LOVE the shed! Stove, good lighting and a solid bench. I'll tackle just about anything if it's at bench height, but grovelling around on the floor is agony - especially at my age!!! Thanks chaps... xx
You might be able to save a bit of money on them plastics. Use a soldering iron to weld it back together from the inside. Don't do it on the outside because it doesn't look very pretty lol. I'm working on a zero turn that previously had a tree fall on it, and the plastics were destroyed. I found out that you can also melt in a metal screen strip from like a screen door or some staples laid on their side for extra reinforcement. Thanks for another great video, can't wait for the next one.
first time seeing a junkyard digs episode in probably 3 years its good to see you are still tackling old machines brings back good memories for me thanks for still being awesome man
Ezra explaining this machine made me stop the video and start googling all the stuff he was talking about. This 42 minute video turned into a 2 hour video because I went down a rabbit hole. Ezra knows his shit! What an addition to the channel! He is your own Jackstand Jimmy! Also, shout out to 1983, I am going to be 40 on Christmas. Hell of a year.
I’ve gotten to meet a few of the team Honda riders that raced in California and Arizona in the 80’s. I’ve owned a Mickey Dunlop bike and let me tell you the porting in the cylinder head was amazing! Thanks y’all for bringing to light some of his history and the mighty 200x!!!!
Damn, Ezras a Honda engine/trike historian. That guys full of good information. He also makes for some good comedy 😂. You should tell him to get his own channel and show all his Minnesota shenanigans and stuff he’s working on. I’d definitely watch it, and Im sure others would as well. And that pickle jar trick was nice, thats definitely going into my trick list for the next time I come across a terrible gas tank with old gas.
I really enjoyed this video. My favorites are probably still the will it farm, but these where you (seem) to be frittering around with a random project with friends are definitely enjoyable to watch.
Ezra is really smart and i like how he explains things so simply but makes complete sense unlike some guys that explain stuff and you listen 10 or more times and still are lost on what they explained.
Wow, Ezra's three wheeler history lesson was very interesting. His knowledge of the internals of them was impressive. You found the right guy for a partner on this thing.
I always appreciate that anytime you use one of your tricks, that you show us every video, the torch cleaner for the carb jets and tiny holes is an insanely good little hack. But you are growing so fast in comparison to other channels that plenty of people see you for the first time ever.
Excellent video Junkyard Digs Kevin :) , Ezra :) , you guys did super on this 3 wheeler for 1983 year one and faster than see any of them go before in person!
Its really not that hard to press apart the crank and put a new bearing in. Bop it with a dead blow to align it perfect and your good. Fyi Sparking Vacuum motor + Fuel vapor = Boom
Thank you also for the impromptu ad for the torch cleaner kit - a tool I could've used a million times but never knew existed! Definitely getting a couple of those now!
A junkyard digs video is always awesome. A junkyard digs video with Ezra is so damn cool. And then you throw a Phoenix in. With some three wheelers. It's going to be gold
Friendships are strong until they aren't. Ezra deserves a "Talent" check (Like a radio station pays a DJ for a special project). He made this episode a totally awesome show. If the viewer time supports that...please consider a check$$ with a thanks beyond brotherly mid-west love. He will say he was happy to be part of a good time but...years from now circumstances may change and a rift could form between you two as you having earned so much money from UA-cam. I encourage you to have the conversation early of how the future is uncertain and reach an agreement that royalties can not be due years later. I have lost friends and business partners(even a wife) because of the difference in our recollection of what was then a mutually a great time. I HATE lawyers and Ezra is too awesome! I am truly envious of your great times and consider myself lucky to just watch.
Amazing video as always, I swear every guest you bring to wrench with you or new helper you introduce are always A+ individuals. Bob, Angus, and Wyatt might still be my favorites though lol
The vacuum trick works great for fluids, but don’t forget you’re using a electric motor and pumping fuel vapor as well. The jar will catch the fuel, but the vacuum is getting the vapor. Remember the old brush style drills that you could see arc in the dark?
Ezra is such a cool guy! Funny and very informative, fits right in on the channel! Great episode, we didn't have these threewheelers here in The Netherlands sadly, looks like hell of a lot of fun!
I used to own a Honda 200. X really brings back a lot of memories riding them. I’m going to have to hunt down a good used one and bring back my childhood. Great video guys.
It's very interesting to see you guys repairing Honda 200 engines. There are a lot of engines of this type in our country. but with various adjustments in each country... and here we usually do bore up and stroke up to increase engine power. especially if you make a trail motorbike... greetings from Indonesian people
Quick tip, your trick to "save the timing position" will only work if the crank never moves. At least on any modern ATV engine I've worked on. Get enough slack in the chain and allow the crank to turn, boom timing is off. If I'm just replacing a cam, or decompression mechanism or whatever, I do what Ezra is showing, except I use bailing wire through the hole in the cam gear, and wrap it snug around the handlebars so that the chain physically can not jump any teeth on the bottom cam chain gear.
After spending countless hours growing up on 3⃣ wheelers. It's awesome to see the brake down of one! We always had to bring it into the the Honda dealer. Surely wasn't websites or apps back then lol thanks for sharing! 😎
I have a 86 XL250R I bought new. Dual-purpose dirt bike, but similar engine. Rode it hard in the CA desert for 30 years. Still have it and it still runs fine, never broke. Great bikes and engine. 👍👍
I admire Ezra's knowledge and passion for these things. I'd deffo be a subscriber if he made a channel about fixing these 3 wheelers up / tuning them etc.
Great vid , love 3 wheelers bought first 84 200x in October 83 still have it. And the 200x/350x both have wet generator and do run in the oil. Keep saving them...
Yall are a great group of guys. I'm from the Quad Cities, it feels like I'm hanging out in the garage with my buddies when I watch your "off car" videos. Definitely a hoot to see how you guys cut the corners on buying tools. We do the same crap! Keep on pumping out the killer content!
I used to have one, it was the first thing I bought to ride. What a riot. I totally rebuilt the motor and put all kinds of aftermarket goodies and a cobra exhaust system. It was loud and fast. I absolutely miss it.
I love all your videos especially the smaller engine ones. You’re a great explainer and teach things very well I learn so much when I stop by your channel. Great work man👍
The best times i can remember were taking my sons camping and them riding the riding the Honda CRF80 and CRF 150 I bought for them right after i got diverced because their Mom never wanted them to have one when we were married and i would ride with them on my 82 Honda 250R ATC. I loved that thing and those times with them with no distractions out camping.
Definitely love the three wheelers on the channel. And Ezra with the history lesson was awesome. I own a fleet of old hondas to, i ride all of them, and only have one parts machine. Have a merry Christmas to you and the gang there.
3 wheeler cleaned up really nice. Got some potential. Ezra did a great job. Educated us as well. A+ sir. Right after I post this Kevin breaks the plastics lmao!!
Kevin the one thing I appreciate the hell out of is that I’ve watched this channel for a long time and you’ve never forgot where you came from. Appreciate the content man.
Nice! 😎 I Had An 85’ 200x 86’ 200x 86’ 350x 86’ Big Red Over The Years But Unfortunately Bills Happened 🤷♀️ Luv 3wheelers 47 Eddyville Iowa Male Here! Eventually I’ll Have Another 1
I always love the 3 wheeler content I actually just went out and bought an 84 200es and I think I'm gonna pick up a 200x next would love to see more 3 wheeler river ride videos
The oiling via a head stud is standard for almost any single cylinder bike/atv engine. Most of them have one of the higher two studs supply the oil directly from the oil pump, then one of the lower two studs will have a larger diameter hole for the return. Most of them also have some form of metal bush that goes around the stud at the headgasket
Man, I would have loved to have this video when 15 yr old me replaced the clutch on my 1985 200X. Loved the history lesson. It was my first bike and I had never ridden any else so leaning over the inside tire laying in to the throttle was all I knew how to do. Which really threw me for a loop the first time I rode a dirtbike and immediately laid it over on the first turn.
YAY!... Ok now that my excitement is out of the way for a new JYD video... Yall make me wish I had a garage! I would be out there doing exactly this every damn day!
This was a GREAT video. It was really interesting to listen to what Ezra was saying he is clearly a very knowledgeable guy!!! I had no idea he knew that much!!! EZRA START YOUR OWN CHANNEL
I like the addition of Ezra to the revolving list of friends. He seems like a regular, normal, silly dude like the rest of us.
Ezra is that guy who keeps everyone laughing in Red Phase Army BCT, or a while enduring a dull class in school, or working some crappy job carrying railroad ties for 11 hours. Smart guy with the wrenching too. Every workplace needs a guy like him.
I'm more of a goober tbh
Definitely more Ezra appearances would be great.
Ezra needs his permanent guest appearance or his own channel, lol
Deffo. I love his knowledge

@@jacobwhipple7848 she got her own channel though..... kinda

Thought the exact same thing! Was expecting a big boom.
I was looking for this comment, watching them do that scared me a bit.
Please have Ezra as a permanent guest! You guys cracked me up in the last camper video 🤣
Kevin, you’re one of a few mechanical content creators that I watch on UA-cam. Every creator has interesting content, but I find you, your friends, and family hilarious on top of that. Keep up the great work!
We paid 250 for a 86 250 ES back in 2006. Just needed a neutral switch. Lives up north now and always fires right up
Ok, Ezra is awesome.

Heck yeah. I love the content y’all make. You make my nights great whenever the video comes out. Makes me forget the annoying things about the day
The pickle jar trick was neat but I'd be scared of a spark from the vacuum motor around the gas fumes 😂
That wasn't gas, that was varnish.
I always used a 20oz diet coke bottle and siffonded it that way
I’m not sure an open flame would have set it off 🤣

LOVE this channel! The 30 yr old truck in the field, watched it and subbed. I'm 65, female and have always loved cars/trucks and mechanical things.
Ezra is not only good looking and funny, he's also really knowledgeable and seems to be a great guy to hang out with.

Ezra doing a port and cam on this is now a must. make sure you do a before and after 1/8th mile test
These bikes were badass back in the day. In the 80's, I had a neighbor with one that he raced. Good times.
Wow, Ezra's three wheeler history lesson was very interesting. His knowledge of the internals of them was impressive. You found the right guy for a partner on this thing.
Ezra just told what it took my whole childhood to learn the hard way! Very knowledgeable video on small engine repair! Thank you Kevin & Ezra 👍

I really appreciate the thorough explanations Ezra provided here, similar to your explanations of carburetors or ignition systems. Well done.

Ezra seemed happy with potatoes.
Ezra knows his stuff. Keep that fella around.
Kevin can you please do the full performance mods Ezra was talking about.
And what's up with the 4 cylinder golf cart that you and phenix revived?
Amazing video as always, I swear every guest you bring to wrench with you or new helper you introduce are always A+ individuals. Bob, Angus, and Wyatt might still be my favorites though lol

Ezra needs his own UA-cam channel. Thanks for having Ezra on the channel again
Quick tip, your trick to "save the timing position" will only work if the crank never moves. At least on any modern ATV engine I've worked on.

You can tell when the video starts in the shop, Ezra already down 3 or 4 twisted teas. My face does the shame shit and flares up when I drink lmao
Ezra is a comic Genius.
A valuable asset in Kevin's artillery
Ezra rocks, didn't know how knowledgeable he is on these Hondas, super cool how in depth we got on the engine.
I admire Ezra's knowledge and passion for these things. I'd deffo be a subscriber if he made a channel about fixing these 3 wheelers up / tuning them etc.
This kids awesome and so knowledgable, he definitely shows his passion!
WOW!! FLASH BACK!! when i was just out of high school i bought a brand new (1983) 200X holy crap that was along time ago lol
Fantastic job Ezra. Great camera presence. Kevin needs to have you on more.
I used to have one, it was the first thing I bought to ride. What a riot. I totally rebuilt the motor and put all kinds of aftermarket goodies and a cobra exhaust system. It was loud and fast. I absolutely miss it.
The first custom nut you took off is the oil “filter”. Centrifuge style
Ezra makes the videos just a little bit crazier while still being a down to earth guy. Fits in well with the rest.
I love all your videos especially the smaller engine ones. You’re a great explainer and teach things very well I learn so much when I stop by your channel. Great work man👍
I love when you guys fix up old vehicles because you guys are the ones who inspired me to go try to fix vehicles and quads
Hey Kevin thanks for posting, always a good day, when will you do another video on the green mustang
Kevin that is a beautiful shed makes good work for small engine videos
The best times i can remember were taking my sons camping and them riding the riding the Honda CRF80 and CRF 150 I bought for them right after i got diverced because their Mom never wanted them to have one when we were married and i would ride with them on my 82 Honda 250R ATC. Definitely love the three wheelers on the channel. And Ezra with the history lesson was awesome. I own a fleet of old hondas to, i ride all of them, and only have one parts machine. Have a merry Christmas to you and the gang there.
make sure the kicker gear and spring is good while the cases are split!
careful with vacuuming flammable fumes. The vacuum motor can ignite the fumes and explode.
Eventually I’ll Have Another 1
I forgot how small all the wheelers from the 80s were. With that said that's what made them so much fun they were so easy to throw around.
Your buddy is absolutely full of information! Honda Motor Company needs to hire him on as part of their team.
I always love the 3 wheeler content I actually just went out and bought an 84 200es and I think I'm gonna pick up a 200x next would love to see more 3 wheeler river ride videos
42:35 knew that was gunna happen as soon as Kevin jumped on it and Ezra pointed out it sticks lol
Great vid. Nice seeing Ezra again. He should be in more vids
He reminds me of one of my sons. Both in looks and sense of humor.

Ezra is probably my favourite of your side kicks. Guy is a real beauty.
Your videos are the only videos I’ve been watching recently not a single second loses my attention bro love the content
3 wheeler content is my favorite content im 16 years old and mess around with them all the time love em
Tech tip with Ezra..on Junkyard digs
Man, I would have loved to have this video when 15 yr old me replaced the clutch on my 1985 200X. Loved the history lesson. It was my first bike and I had never ridden any else so leaning over the inside tire laying in to the throttle was all I knew how to do. Which really threw me for a loop the first time I rode a dirtbike and immediately laid it over on the first turn.
You guys should do an 80's Jeep Cherokee (Or Comanche), it could be pretty cool.
I rebuilt several of these when I worked at Brennys in Bettendorf, and Hawkeye in Davenport. I love ATC’s especially 200x’s
Hi Kevin! Hope you’re doing exactly how you wanna be doing. Love seeing Ezra on here lately
YAY!... Ok now that my excitement is out of the way for a new JYD video... Yall make me wish I had a garage! I would be out there doing exactly this every damn day!
Great video again. It's amazing what a bloke will do for fried spuds and cold beer. G'day from downunder.
I’ll watch this and like it during the work week, but man is it great to see you on demo ranch 👍🏻. Hope you get a sub bump. Love your content.
This was a GREAT video. It was really interesting to listen to what Ezra was saying he is clearly a very knowledgeable guy!!! I had no idea he knew that much!!! EZRA START YOUR OWN CHANNEL
Never never use a vacuum when messing with gas. Vapors + electric motor brushes = boom. Seen a vacuum grenade from someone doing it
This made me smile. Takes me back to my youth! Thanks guys!!❤
Lol, back in '88 I put Turf Tamer tires on my Banshee😬 to get a taste of flat tracking. Eventually, replaced them with Hoosiers on it😊
