I know there are a lot of CB750k bikes out there still but it's an important bike and each one that can be saved should be. You guys do such a great job with the channel building interest for these vintage bikes. Love it!
The issue with most of the CB 750’s now is the price is shooting up everywhere. You gotta be pretty super fast to get one at a reasonable price before the seller starts a bidding war.

Which will make the next episodes even more compelling. I’ve learned so much and been so inspired by BHB (with a handful of revived bikes as the prize) that I hope you all can see this as a very special segment. I’m 86 and like you get too tired now. Stopped riding two years ago and rebuilt about 7 bikes over the years, one being a Harley Pup 350 side valve which had been sitting in a barn for well over 50 years. Stay well and keep smiling.
Ive broken several plugs and spiral extractors have never worked. The Square tapered extractors with the 4 flutes is the kind you want for that situation. I know you were working with what ya got, but just for future reference. With what you guys were trying to do I give you all the props AND with a hurt back...man definitely a battle. No need to apologize, was still a great video. It looks like a sweet bike to save and hope to see it again. Take care and hope your back gets better.
The previous owner spent 42 years ruining the bike by neglect but you only had 12 hours to revive her so not a fair contest. I love videos like this because it shows the real world challenges we’re up against to bring bikes back to life. Freeing up seized parts is always the most time consuming and risky part of the process. It’s really valuable for me to see the innovative ways you both tackle the problem. Kudos to you both for the determination to get as far as you did. I don’t think anyone else would have done better

Nothing to worry about. I liked the video. I have been experiencing such situations more than once. NOT running at the wall and smash your head, but to know when to halt and take care of your health is smart! You have provided a very good video! Don't let what happened get you down dude, this is what happens sometimes even to the best and most willing of people. It's a part of the biker experience and though it would be nice if it went to plan as we wished, the reality all too often is that things do go wrong. It's only a failure if you bring it back to the shop and you don't do your best to revive that engine, which with your tools and knowledge you will be able to do! I feel your pain man. No worries I love watching your videos. Always super informative and very interesting. I recently had a similar situation on a xs650. The engine was seized and broke one of the plugs off, trying to get it out. I tried everything to get the broken stud part out and couldn't do it. I think you made the right decision to call it quits and live to fight another day. No shame in that quite the contrary, actually very wise. I'm my situation. I ruined the head drilling out the broken spark plug and had to smash the piston out to finally get the crank free. Loved every minute of it ! Cheers!!
AS a guy who restores old 4 cylinder hondas the plugs are a common problem i have encountered numerous times tried everything including breaking easy outs only way i ever fixed them was to set the head up in a bridgeport drill them to tap size and retap learned that never seize on all the plugs is your best friend good luck really enjoy your videos also they make a cam chain with a master link so you can cut old one to get cam out

But I am sure no one wants to see you hurt yourself for our entertainment. Don't beat yourself up about this. You can't win if you don't practise losing. Most of us try to do what you do and get stuck much sooner and with far less complex issues. It shows that we're not useless, it happens to the best mechanic we know. There are many videos of motorcycle restorations on UA-cam, but there are few people like you who can realistically show us the whole process from start to finish of restoring a motorcycle pulled out of a barn in bad condition to public roads. I believe that the purchase price of former greats such as CB750, CBX, and Benelli is going up even if the bikes are in poor condition, so I think it is a matter of life and death for you if the restoration does not go well. However, I and other viewers will watch your videos and support you in the hope that you can recoup some of your costs and continue with your next challenge, so please keep providing us your real struggles and challenges in your videos.I really support you guys!

I've been there and done that. I'm too old to try what you did,load it up and take it back to the shop would be my only way to do it. Don't be so hard on yourself guys! Love watching
don't feel bad ...be proud that you showed the real deal. That's how it goes sometimes. I have revived dozens of cb750's and generally they roar back to life and can become real everyday riders with surprisingly little work. They usually just want to live, more than any other bikes I have worked on....even the stuck ones. But yeah, you break a plug, it's gonna get ugly and probably very expensive. Ironically enough, I got a candy gold K2 with a stuck motor soaking in atf/acetone in my shop as we speak.
What! You mean you can't do the impossible!!! I once heard a man say that when you give 100% you have given all you have. I think you gave all you can and the impossible is just not conquerable. I think you are one of the best mechanics I have ever seen. Take it home and I would bet nearly all I have that you can fix it. Did your best and no one can ask for more than your best. Keep on.
Been watching you two for a while, finally subscribed tonight. I have a couple of lower back issues too, and some days that's the show stopper for me, not the broken plugs or snapped studs. I have dealt with my fair share of seized up parts, it's never fun, but so rewarding when you finally free them off. Never beat yourself up about taking a step back, it gives you time to come up with ideas and plan your next assault, it also usually saves you from further man-made damage. You'll get there and I'm looking forward to watching the journey 👍

This video demonstrates how hard it is to pull a motorbike or car that has been laid up for decades and get it ready for a road trip home in a couple of days, it takes a phenomenal effort and an awful lot of work and sometimes even the best are unlucky. It took me 5 years to revive a Norton 750 that was sitting just as long as yours was. I commend you on the attempt. Still a GREAT bike that deserves the time spent - however short or long - to get her back on the road again.
A brilliant vid. Firstly, hope your back recovers quickly. Don’t be too hard on yourselves, it was a big ask once you discovered some of the issues this bike has, but you & Seth put in a great effort just didn’t happen this time, mainly due to not being in the workshop. These are the kind of issues many us non professionals working on older bikes come across & really struggle with. I will be surprised & disappointed if there are any negative comments on this vid as it was excellent. Looking forward to more on this bike & how you resolve its problems.

You achieved a lot in one day, in a car park, after an early start ..... you cant apologise about unforseen circumstance ..... its good to see such determination, whatever the result - you know whats wrong and you will get it done. But, more importantly, you did the right thing calling it done with your back issue - continuing wouldnt have done you any good and the bike issues were too much to deal with in that particular situation. Hope the back is easing.
I feel yout pain, my 2nd bike was a cb 750 4 k2 when I was 17, fast forward 40 yrs later I bought a supposedly top to bottom rebuilt one but it had some issues, I put it into the main honda dealer who tried for the best part of 2 years to get it perfect, they failed, so if they can't do it with all they're advantages in that time frame maybe it was a little bit optimistic to take a basket case one and turn it round in a day😅, as for the bad back best advice I ever got was 2 use the upside down chair thing. Keep it going
Your channel is about working on bikes, and that's what you did. Yes, you didn't get it all the way to the finishline but that's alright. The moment you said it had stood still for 40-ish years I said "really? You gonna fix that in an afternoon?" 😂.

I'd load that thing up and take it home and fix it in your comfy shop. I enjoy watching you guys work at home in the shop more than out in the "field". Then you're near home and can relax there when your back gives out. There's a plug extraction tool that is made to remove those broken plugs. I just watched a video on South Main Auto of him doing that plug extraction. Although you may already have that tool set.
You can't win them all and at least your viewers know that there are bikes that the magic of UA-cam can't fix in minutes. Love the vid, hope your back gets better.

If a Honda ever doesn’t run it’s serious. I had a Honda moped lose it’s wrist pin and chewed up the jug (I know it’s a broken Honda). Me and my step dad dug another one out from behind barn that was locked up tight. We stole the jug and piston, rings seized. But she ran for many many miles after that. It was my only transportation when I was in high school. Still love mopeds
Can't win them all but it still made for compelling viewing, that's what I call field mechanics. The plugs issue was an unforeseeable curve ball, very rare that happens and enough to scupper the mission on its own. More importantly I hope your back problems resolve somewhat, I know what a total bummer that is, the last thing you want to do is make it even worse trying to get the job done. I did wonder how you got the bike loaded up in your condition unless Seth did it solo., that looked super awkward. Hopefully when you've recovered we'll get to see this reluctant machine run once more, good luck guys!
As a fellow cb750 enthusiast who has resurrected a couple of them have never seen the spark plug issue before. And thats what stopped you. Othewise . You would've succeeded. Tough luck however you guys hit hard and be proud of that!

Best laid plans of mice and men, many times don't come to fruition! You know what you need to do to repair it, don't worry about it incessantly. It will just take a bit more effort than your other revivals, but you will get it. We all have faith in your abilities. Get your back straightened out first and then worry about it afterwards. ❤😊
Literally just went through this with a cb 500. Fortunately we were able to keep the motor in the bike. Take the head off and had to cut the timing chain to remove the cam because the bolt wasn’t accessible. Used a lot of chemicals, heat, torque on the stator then eventually a 2x4 and hammer on the pistons. Got it apart without destroying anything

Can’t believe I missed you guys. Win or lose I still like watching you guys. Keep it up. I’ve been wanting to come down to a vintage bike night. Just got my CB 750 going this last spring. Put over 1000 miles on it. Fun bikes to ride. And there are a few O’Riley guys in that store that have been checking out my bike every time I come over there. They like the old CB’s.

Good call with Seth. I lifted a 1979 CB750 engine on my own, ruptured a tendon in my arm, had an operation to repair it and 2 years on I live in pain. Definitely a good call to look after Seth….even a 72 CB 750 isn’t worth his health.
Like you said bro, it was an expierence and you"ll learned from it. People who never try things the hard way learn little to nothing. Derek Bieri also had some problems like this and a seized engine sometimes litterly can be a breaking point. I like the video and look forward to the revival of this bike, and you know it, they are worth it, I can say that as a proud CB750K7 owner. You make great vid's man, I learn along with you in these adventures, keep up the good work.
I keep watching your channel to get inspired to fix the Vulcan in my backyard when the weather cools off. I recommend checking out sale listings in Phoenix when you're hunting. Sure, the heat kills rubber & plastic but there are a ton of rust free bikes around.

There are many videos of motorcycle restorations on UA-cam, but there are few people like you who can realistically show us the whole process from start to finish of restoring a motorcycle pulled out of a barn in bad condition to public roads.
I believe that the purchase price of former greats such as CB750, CBX, and Benelli is going up even if the bikes are in poor condition, so I think it is a matter of life and death for you if the restoration does not go well.
However, I and other viewers will watch your videos and support you in the hope that you can recoup some of your costs and continue with your next challenge, so please keep providing us your real struggles and challenges in your videos.I really support you guys!
I enjoy all your videos. I think these type of get them running in a day takes a lot of luck. You guys have the skill, but a bike in this condition will take a lot of time to get running. Don’t get discouraged, you do great work and put out excellent content. Looking forward to more videos.

don't feel bad ...be proud that you showed the real deal. That's how it goes sometimes. I have revived dozens of cb750's and generally they roar back to life and can become real everyday riders with surprisingly little work. They usually just want to live, more than any other bikes I have worked on....even the stuck ones. But yeah, you break a plug, it's gonna get ugly and probably very expensive. Ironically enough, I got a candy gold K2 with a stuck motor soaking in atf/acetone in my shop as we speak.
What! You mean you can't do the impossible!!! I once heard a man say that when you give 100% you have given all you have. I think you gave all you can and the impossible is just not conquerable. I think you are one of the best mechanics I have ever seen. Take it home and I would bet nearly all I have that you can fix it. Did your best and no one can ask for more than your best. Keep on.
Part of what makes these videos cool is that you never know if the bike is gonna start. This bike was one tough customer.
Been watching you two for a while, finally subscribed tonight. I have a couple of lower back issues too, and some days that's the show stopper for me, not the broken plugs or snapped studs. I have dealt with my fair share of seized up parts, it's never fun, but so rewarding when you finally free them off. Never beat yourself up about taking a step back, it gives you time to come up with ideas and plan your next assault, it also usually saves you from further man-made damage. You'll get there and I'm looking forward to watching the journey 👍

This video demonstrates how hard it is to pull a motorbike or car that has been laid up for decades and get it ready for a road trip home in a couple of days, it takes a phenomenal effort and an awful lot of work and sometimes even the best are unlucky. Would much rather see y’all measured while wrenching in the sweat shop you built, but whatever it takes to get viewers to watch videos, I get it man. I just put up a hugely in depth wiring video Monday and as expected people don't watch it. I'm constantly putting out custom content but for some reason people keep saying I'm not 🤷♂️

It took me 5 years to revive a Norton 750 that was sitting just as long as yours was. I commend you on the attempt. Still a GREAT bike that deserves the time spent - however short or long - to get her back on the road again.
A brilliant vid. Firstly, hope your back recovers quickly. Don’t be too hard on yourselves, it was a big ask once you discovered some of the issues this bike has, but you & Seth put in a great effort just didn’t happen this time, mainly due to not being in the workshop. These are the kind of issues many us non professionals working on older bikes come across & really struggle with. I will be surprised & disappointed if there are any negative comments on this vid as it was excellent. Looking forward to more on this bike & how you resolve its problems.

You achieved a lot in one day, in a car park, after an early start ..... you cant apologise about unforseen circumstance ..... its good to see such determination, whatever the result - you know whats wrong and you will get it done. But, more importantly, you did the right thing calling it done with your back issue - continuing wouldnt have done you any good and the bike issues were too much to deal with in that particular situation. Hope the back is easing.
I feel yout pain, my 2nd bike was a cb 750 4 k2 when I was 17, fast forward 40 yrs later I bought a supposedly top to bottom rebuilt one but it had some issues, I put it into the main honda dealer who tried for the best part of 2 years to get it perfect, they failed, so if they can't do it with all they're advantages in that time frame maybe it was a little bit optimistic to take a basket case one and turn it round in a day😅, as for the bad back best advice I ever got was 2 use the upside down chair thing. Keep it going

I'd load that thing up and take it home and fix it in your comfy shop. I enjoy watching you guys work at home in the shop more than out in the "field". Then you're near home and can relax there when your back gives out. There's a plug extraction tool that is made to remove those broken plugs. I just watched a video on South Main Auto of him doing that plug extraction. Although you may already have that tool set.

If a Honda ever doesn’t run it’s serious. I had a Honda moped lose it’s wrist pin and chewed up the jug (I know it’s a broken Honda). Me and my step dad dug another one out from behind barn that was locked up tight. We stole the jug and piston, rings seized. But she ran for many many miles after that. It was my only transportation when I was in high school. Still love mopeds

Can't win them all but it still made for compelling viewing, that's what I call field mechanics.
The plugs issue was an unforeseeable curve ball, very rare that happens and enough to scupper the mission on its own.
More importantly I hope your back problems resolve somewhat, I know what a total bummer that is, the last thing you want to do is make it even worse trying to get the job done.
I did wonder how you got the bike loaded up in your condition unless Seth did it solo., that looked super awkward.
Hopefully when you've recovered we'll get to see this reluctant machine run once more, good luck guys!
You’ll get it going! I hate broken spark plugs too. I had a GS450 with a broken plug and it was enough to stop the show for me.
As a fellow cb750 enthusiast who has resurrected a couple of them have never seen the spark plug issue before. And thats what stopped you. Othewise . You would've succeeded. Tough luck however you guys hit hard and be proud of that!

Best laid plans of mice and men, many times don't come to fruition! You know what you need to do to repair it, don't worry about it incessantly. It will just take a bit more effort than your other revivals, but you will get it. We all have faith in your abilities. Get your back straightened out first and then worry about it afterwards. ❤😊
Literally just went through this with a cb 500. Fortunately we were able to keep the motor in the bike. Take the head off and had to cut the timing chain to remove the cam because the bolt wasn’t accessible. Used a lot of chemicals, heat, torque on the stator then eventually a 2x4 and hammer on the pistons. Got it apart without destroying anything

Can’t believe I missed you guys. Win or lose I still like watching you guys. Keep it up. I’ve been wanting to come down to a vintage bike night. Just got my CB 750 going this last spring. Put over 1000 miles on it. Fun bikes to ride. And there are a few O’Riley guys in that store that have been checking out my bike every time I come over there. They like the old CB’s.

Good call with Seth. I lifted a 1979 CB750 engine on my own, ruptured a tendon in my arm, had an operation to repair it and 2 years on I live in pain. Definitely a good call to look after Seth….even a 72 CB 750 isn’t worth his health.

Like you said bro, it was an expierence and you"ll learned from it. People who never try things the hard way learn little to nothing.
Derek Bieri also had some problems like this and a seized engine sometimes litterly can be a breaking point.
I like the video and look forward to the revival of this bike, and you know it, they are worth it, I can say that as a proud CB750K7 owner.

I keep watching your channel to get inspired to fix the Vulcan in my backyard when the weather cools off. I recommend checking out sale listings in Phoenix when you're hunting. Sure, the heat kills rubber & plastic but there are a ton of rust free bikes around.
Phoenix definitely has some good stuff but being 1300 miles away puts a stop to that lol
