I remember listening to this song on repeat when it first came out. I was in the midst of a toxic, abusive relationship and I would think “I want this, and it’s the furthest thing from what I have right now”. I eventually managed to leave that relationship and a year later met the man who completely changed my world. Right as we were starting to get serious he played this song and told me “I feel like you’re this person for me and I want to be that for you too”. Thirteen years later and we’re still each others’ soul mates and I truly believe we always will be

For a long time I felt alone. Lots in life went wrong, a divorce, medical issues which led me to being discharged from the Army, family deaths, it all happened it seemed at once. I really had given up, I went through the motions of everyday life, and I just said one day ill just not show up to work and eventually they will find me. It really had gotten to that point. Then one day I met a nurse, who for some reason wanted to get to know me. I tried to push her away but she never gave up and I finally agreed to a date. I fell in love that night, been about 10 years now we have been married. She saved my life and gave me a reason to live. There is someone out there for us all, sometimes even when you give up that person finds you.

their music is very basic. it’s extremely surface level pop rock. they come from the late 90s when the greatest musical acts of all time also came from. except apart from some cookie cutter melodie’s and lyrics over a very gravely voice they had nothing to offer. compare nickelback to the likes of deftones who created some of the most ethereal sounds on earth with vocals unmatched in every regard. or linkin park whose deep depressing lyrics with one of the best vocalists of all time over instrumentals that were extremely creative and innovative with the nu metal wave with the melodic screaming reached struggling people. or slipknot the nu metal act that became the pillar of the metal scene from 1999 to now. nickelback are nothing compared to that. they are the imagine dragons of the early 2000s and late 90s a band that is merely there to make board room music.

Being a black woman many people assumed and prejudged based on television stereotypes and other things that I have no control over. And I noticed the same happened to most other black girls on my campus. People would bypass us. While other girls got asked out we were ignored. It was very tough. 21st century America and yet so much segregation. While other girls found their husbands by senior year we were focusing extra hard on our books because we know we had to do twice as much to get noticed even half as much. We only had our own backs. And I suspect the same goes on still. It crosses color, creed and gender but loneliness can be debilitating. People don't realize how social exile really makes others feel. There is a reason mammals stare at each other or smile at each other etc. Even the most introverted type wants a friend. Never underestimate the power of a smile and a hello. Show someone you care. Many commit suicide because of rampant loneliness. People just don't realize that it hurts after a while. Be a friend.

Honestly just heard this song for the first time today in Goodwill of all places, Walked in and this was playing overhead. Fell in love with it instantly. For a long time I felt alone. Lots in life went wrong, a divorce, medical issues which led me to being discharged from the Army, family deaths, it all happened it seemed at once. I really had given up, I went through the motions of everyday life, and I just said one day ill just not show up to work and eventually they will find me. It really had gotten to that point. Then one day I met a nurse, who for some reason wanted to get to know me. I tried to push her away but she never gave up and I finally agreed to a date. I fell in love that night, been about 10 years now we have been married. She saved my life and gave me a reason to live. There is someone out there for us all, sometimes even when you give up that person finds you.

Being a black woman many people assumed and prejudged based on television stereotypes and other things that I have no control over. And I noticed the same happened to most other black girls on my campus. People would bypass us. While other girls got asked out we were ignored. It was very tough. 21st century America and yet so much segregation. While other girls found their husbands by senior year we were focusing extra hard on our books because we know we had to do twice as much to get noticed even half as much. We only had our own backs. And I suspect the same goes on still.
It crosses color, creed and gender but loneliness can be debilitating. People don't realize how social exile really makes others feel. There is a reason mammals stare at each other or smile at each other etc. Even the most introverted type wants a friend.
Never underestimate the power of a smile and a hello. Show someone you care. Many commit suicide because of rampant loneliness. People just don't realize that it hurts after a while. Be a friend.
Remember that half the reason so many act strong is because that is their only choice besides crying. And crying can get tiring.
