Hell yeah nice video man. I’m about to get a custom exhaust put on my stock 95 5.0. I’ll be uploading a video of it to my channel; we need more SN95 5.0 content on UA-cam.

finally someone who knows what they're talking about! I'm building a 400hp 5.0 for my mountaineer(don't laugh), got my heads picked out, cam(efi friendly), rockers, injectors, pump, tuner, found an awd dyno local that will help me get dyno time. at least hoping for 400 crank. should be interesting. If thats your daily your arrangement makes sense but you could easily squeeze another 30-50hp out of that but it'd be mid to top end. I dunno what pistons you have, i think stock, but if they can clear the valves just 1.7 roller rockers will get you 10hp? add a single tunnel ram with a generous 550-600cfm carb AND keep it above 3500. will be a whole new car. lol. awesome mustang though! Glad to see the short block can handle some power. will just rebuild mine with factory parts plus a balance and dry film/thermal coatings

I’m tempted to save up and potentially get a sn95 near me. It is an auto, but, it’s also a 5.0 with only 55k miles on the original motor. They’re asking 8k and I really want it but I’ll have to save sure a while
"so unfortunately we are gonna be leaving out the 4.6 cars today" I thought we were all trying to forget Ford made those 🤣 Kidding. Those 4.6 motors can make some power with good heads/cam or boost. But have to admit they were pretty weak in stock trim.
Speak for yourself,my 96 cobra’s 4.6 is a beast even with just Intake,under drive pullies,aluminum drive shaft,and muffler delete..I’m beating on 392 chargers,modded Lightning’s,turbo s2000’s etc...
I just picked up a '99 Mustang GT in the fall and have been planning out my performance upgrades. I'd like to do the Trick Flow heads but with a stage 3 cam. This was helpful, I'm just leaning about all of the technical stuff...lol
Finally found my first car, 95 mustang. Had afr 185, b303 bbk LT spintech muffler with custom exhaust, 1.6 roller rockers, Holly intake, c&l cold air, and all the pullies and everything else besides internal made 332whp. Cain wait to restore this car with my ls7 🤣
94-95 noncobra 5.0L was rated 215hp This was an improvement over the Fox because the 225hp was rated differently begins late 92 at 205hp So while it appears to be down 10hp it’s actually 10+hp more than the 93! Nice car ya have by the way
Nice vid as always BK. The part where u said u always smile, made my wife watch it so she'd understand why me and my Mystic "Pheonia" will never part ways lol! Will have mine back in a month and will drop some vids. You've inspired me to get of my ass and start making em lol.
This makes me curious what my 84 makes.. 308ci, forged rods, flat top pistons (around 11.5:1 compression), lunati .550 lift cam, 1.6 rockers, tf valvesprings, ported gt40p heads, a cheap-o Jegs dual plane intake, BBK shorties, and a Holley Sniper EFI setup.. I know heads and intake are probably gonna hold me back, but I need to find a dyno near me and see where I am. 😂 Awesome numbers for a stock block 302 by the way!
I would LOVE to see some long tubes on ole girl and see the dyno number difference. So much debate if there is any power difference between the two, id love to see some proof. Also LTs should add a little extra oomph to the exhaust sound.
Jdogs garage Get Er done sweet bro you can make the 2 valve motors make good numbers n/a especially with the heads you used and with the rest of your build, thanks for the comment👍🏼 and sounds like you have a sweet build
Your my favorite sn-95 channel. Awesome videos. What’s your opinion I have a 96 . Is the pi swap worth it or should I do a 5.0 motor ? Been trying to decide which way to go
Victor Rigby check out 4.6chris on UA-cam. He’s got a mild 4.6 on nitrous going on, and he’s having a blast with it. I think you should keep your 4.6. I personally have a 95 5.0
Thank you for the vid! I am about to purchase a 95 GT Convertible 5.0 with manual tranny. I have no desire to race and plan on driving it from Ohio to mother in Florida and to roots in La. Do you know of a site that would direct someone to make a GT a highway monster? Suspension and gas? Thanks!!
I'm buying a 95 GT 5.0 ... Is the stock automatic transmission good enough to build more horsepower on it? For the record I'm not racing or trying to be Vin Diesel just want a little more vroom-vroom when I'm mobn... LMK
How do you feel on updating the 8.8 rear? You concerned? People say if your under 400-450 hp and don't run slicks we are fine. How do you feel about c-clip eliminators ??
Do you just put the fuel pressure regulator in to run a carburetor? I mean I know the intake and carb is needed ofc but I’m just kind of lost as far as if the stock fuel system in mine that is an electric fuel pump will still work for a carb
Mason Perkins yes it will mine is stock pump. And been doing fine for 3 years now with the regulator, I have a return style regulator to help bleed some extra pressure off.
What distributor are you running with this build. I'm doing the same thing to my 95. Bought a cheap one from Amazon and timing jumps around. Can't seem to find a good one.
Good question, I changed mine merely because of they’re age but you can use old but good roller lifters on any roller lifter cam. I just recently changed from a e303 camshaft to a lunati cam which are both roller cams and used the same lifters. Which is the ford performance brand roller lifter.
Idk the brand of the valve covers they were just some cheap no name ones, and I had to do a little grinding on the alternator and valve cover for the tall ones
I've ran the E-303 in my 302 along with world products windsor Sr, milled down to 58cc. Car car is a beast! I run carbs all the way! Have a Holley 650 hp and a port matched performer RPM intake. Good heads squeeze more power out of a smaller cam instead of the other way around. The letter cams get the job done (don't have to spend a fortune on a 302) and the E-303 is my favorite out of the bunch. Great street cam with great mid range, and good top end with good heads and also good drivability! The B cam and others give up too much low range torque for the streets in my opinion. Since then I've graduated to a lunati 51014 (back in the late 1990s) and love it. TFS copied it and it's now there stage 1 cam. The E-303 is a damn good cam!! Plus back in the day the letter cams were cheap, at prices averaging $120.00 for either of the letter cams.
@@lollis_garage3683 have built a ford in years, got a 1995 5.0 with 130,000 miles and a set of old aluminum heads with 2.05 Intake valves. Was going to put a junkyard dog together. Put it in a 1967 f100.
@@kevindrury8390 id say go for it, it worked for me. Didn’t even check piston to valve clearance and have turned the engine 7k plus. On the stock four eye brow pistons
As a strict traditionalist I prefer stock; keep it like it came off the line, but I like watching your videos on mods, always learn something new! I wish I could do the carb swap. Less electronics the better. Heck, I'd put crank windows on mine if it weren't for my keep it stock policy. Speaking of simple, is that a CJ7 parked next to your mustang?
And I know a lot of people who don’t like to mod there cars, which is totally fine and to each his own. And I appreciate the views most definitely, and it’s a Cj5 it’s one of our customers.
Tora Pruitt whats the duration. The lift of the cam is fine but the duration is usually what causes the clearance issues, I had a lunati 586 572 with 239 232 duration at .50 and was fine
im just curious if you noticed a difference not having the strut tower brace? im thinking of taking mine off its kinda restricting my options for after market intakes
In that era during the gas wars that were going on they brought the HP way down and tried to get as much fuel mileage as possible! But I definitely don’t agree with a mustang having 187 hp.
Well, at least you never had the pleasure of owning a '87 LX 2.3 4cylinder 88-90HP. And for all that loss of power, the gas mileage was terrible! Plus the added embarrassment of getting passed by a Toyota Corollas, or a station wagons on a daily basis. The mocking at school was relentless. To this day, even though I now drive a 5.0 I still have nightmares and my palms begin to sweat when I see a Corolla pull alongside at the stoplight!! Reply
Yeah there 6.7s I ordered them from LMR and all the valvetrain lines up nicely with the rockers to the top of valve. And how does he b cam perform I thought about using it before I got the E cam
I like the b303. Basically your setup before and after lol carbed and old heads setup gt40 heads 1.7rr went with the 11r heads. I want to go 347 aswell. So keeping the b303 untill changing the bottom end. But the cam is better than people think. Oh and my 302 is in a 91 rx7 lol little different
shawnfc3s yeah that’s sounds like a awesome swap! 🤟🏼 i seen a fd at a show a few months ago that was ls swapped. It was super nice. Sounds like you got a sweet build bro.
A E Cam wtf, sorry bro not to burst your bubble, put a B303 in that fook n thing. call it a day. or get a AEX Cam upside down letter A, get your self another 48 HP added and advance your timing 2 degrees at a time to get that higher number Horse Power. E cam is both hp and rpms , the B Cam give some rpms but keeps your Horse power where it needs to be. the AEX Cam was used in the old High Performance Boss 302 Engines . you want to go more then just fit a 351 heads and the 351W Cam. or the Cleaveland Heads . and call it the Boss Cleavage build.
one more thing to mention as well go to a junk yard pull the whole EFI intake off a Cobra jet 5.0L Ho engine throw that on same size bolt on throttle bore 7.5mm but the inside is different tunneling added in then a regular EFI intake. different as well from the gt 350. cobra jet intake will make that fox body of your 5.0L HO fly past a GT 350. build your imagination in to reality build. there you have it make it happen as well advance your distribitor 2 degress at a time on the dyno and see the peak performance get out over 400 hp i seen them go anywheres from 402hp to 444hp to over 500hp some even over 600hp thats boring the engine out to 40 over . with other mods done. but as of now all new models they be making will have the Chevy LS Engine in them. there switching to Chevy LS Engines. that's the rumor i heard going around.
There is no set percentage you have to figure out the crankshaft horsepower minus what it makes to the wheels and then with the difference you figure out your percentage of loss there is no standard all platforms are different hate to burst your bubble but that platform only lost 25 to 30 horsepower to the wheels so if you made 320 something you're only making 350 something so keep dreaming about your 380.390..not hardly
The average rate of parasitic on a 5 speed is around 15% so if you take 15 percent from 380 you get my exact wheel hp, I even asked the guy that had dyno it what average parasitic loss would be, but it’s not an argument either way 😂 and it doesn’t hurt my feeling if it only has 350 hp at the crank, these engines came with 210hp so If I go off your numbers I still gained 140hp just off Intake, cam and heads so I’ll take that 💩! I appreciate the comment.
@@lollis_garage3683 that 15% number is old school that comes from back in the late 80s early 90s when cars were only averaging 200 horsepower. I used to dyno those cars when they were brand new and witnessed firsthand what those cars lost through the drivetrain so anyone giving you a specific percentage is giving you a number from back in the day every car has a certain percentage but you have to actually figure out what that percentage is or see a bone stock car and see what the loss was for the drivetrain and then figure out your percentage on a calculator there is no specific across the board percentage every platform is different every rear axle every transmission the weight of rims and tires brakes it all comes into play. Forget that 15% number the only way to figure out drivetrain loss is to see what a bone stock from the factory car makes on the roller and I can tell you first-hand those cars lost anywhere from 23 to 27 horsepower for the drivetrain. Back in the day you could take Fox body making 200hp...minus 15% would be 170whp. The more horsepower you make it doesn't mean you lose more through the drivetrain if you take a car that loses 30 horsepower through the drivetrain and put a 500 shot on it it's still only going to lose 30 horsepower through the drivetrain
@@texaskidreptiles7418 that what I’m saying you can literally make anything fast! I don’t understand the concept of people saying it’s a stock coyote snack when the sn95 5.0 cars come with 215 stock where as the coyote when it first came out the gen 1 was rated 435 crank. And also what they can’t argue is we make more hp per dollar because it’s cheaper to build the 302 pushrod engine 😂
@@lollis_garage3683 very true. And if they want to keep talking I just flip the switch for my small shot of nitrous to run my car in the mid 9’s. I hate coyotes lol. Kidding.
My dad had a mach 1 "R" designated vin... now i have a soft spot for mustangs... and the supercharged mach 1 was a 4.6l
I just picked up a '99 Mustang GT in the fall and have been planning out my performance upgrades. I'd like to do the Trick Flow heads but with a stage 3 cam. This was helpful, I'm just leaning about all of the technical stuff...lol
With "technical stuff" you might want to start with the fact that this engine was discontinued in 1995 and your 1999 has a 100% different engine.
Great video first time seeing it as I'm currently looking into v6 to pushrod 5.0 swapping
Sniper Mitchell that’s the best thing to do 5.0 swap them so you can have the v8 power! 👍🏼
You'll want to look into swapping the rear axle as well. The smaller diff that came on V6 models has a significantly lower amount of strength to it.
94-95 noncobra 5.0L was rated 215hp
This was an improvement over the Fox because the 225hp was rated differently begins late 92 at 205hp
So while it appears to be down 10hp it’s actually 10+hp more than the 93!
Nice car ya have by the way
Great content, i just found yiur channel, keep up the mustang videos .
Hell yeah a 5.0 SN95!
Just found your channel man and subscribed. Not many sn95 project channels out there. I have a 97 Cobra project going on my channel right now!
SVT Zac I heard that bro I’ll have to go check it out and thanks for the support 🙏🏼
Nice ride
Love the content.
Been watching your vids ever since I bought my 95 5.0 🤘
Thanks bro! 🙏🏼
@@lollis_garage3683 so I have 95 gt automatic with a pro charger. What rear end gear would u recommend?
Dean Smith I run the ford racing 3.73. They’re pretty great! I’m n/a though.
Nice vid as always BK. The part where u said u always smile, made my wife watch it so she'd understand why me and my Mystic "Pheonia" will never part ways lol! Will have mine back in a month and will drop some vids. You've inspired me to get of my ass and start making em lol.
Re1ik glad to hear it bro and thanks for the support 🙏🏼 and get started makin them bro I love doing UA-cam
Awesome numbers for a stock block 302 by the way!
Gt40s are cool tho
I had a similar build I was pushing 350 hp I beat plenty of ls motors
The holley efi that I could tune for the street made the difference
Shorty headers? What's the point 😕 ?
bro, i love your videos
its my favorite car and i hope to have it soon as my first car
keep growing!
-a fan
Much appreciated bro 🙏🏼 and I hope you get one you I love them! 🤟🏼
Got a 03 v6 automatic want to keep it with me for longer i want a older 5.0 or 4.6 swap but eventually a coyote tbh
I would LOVE to see some long tubes on ole girl and see the dyno number difference. So much debate if there is any power difference between the two, id love to see some proof. Also LTs should add a little extra oomph to the exhaust sound.
Same i would like to see some long tubes on the 5.0 👀
Father Firefighter I been really debating getting them just to see how much difference there is!
@@lollis_garage3683 I fully support the decision for LTs, you won't be disappointed and they're not too expensive.
Father Firefighter I want them that’s for sure I’m sure it would make the car sound even better than it does now
HY man u can get stainless long tube on eBay for 145 that's what I'm running on my sn95
Can you go over the efi to carb swap and what you have to remove electrical wise?
I got a na 2 valve 400 hp no problem mmr built it ported trick flow heads texted block 20 over sleeved easy build
Jdogs garage Get Er done sweet bro you can make the 2 valve motors make good numbers n/a especially with the heads you used and with the rest of your build, thanks for the comment👍🏼 and sounds like you have a sweet build
Great content keep it up. I support you 100%
The intro is looking great!
xSKYxHAWKx I appreciate that 🤟🏼
What are your thoughts on using any of the GT40 accessories on stock 302 blocks
It’s definitely better than the factory stuff and will make more power. Like if you run the heads I take and all that.
What's the deal with the Focus being so severely rusty? Is that common with those cars or is it an outlier?
Sophia automatic transmission is in good shape how much power will hold
Nothing sounds/idles better than a B cam.
I personally have a 95 5.0
I just done trick flow top end kit hope to make good power
You should make some good power, it’s a good kit
BustedKnuckleProduction I hope so I’ve got just about everything you can think of done to my sn95 hope for atleast 400 hp
Dustin Russell what Ecu are you running? I’m really considering going with Holley terminator. Seems like the way to go.
Max Jones running stock but gonna be going with mega squirt
Thank you for the vid! I am about to purchase a 95 GT Convertible 5.0 with manual tranny. I have no desire to race and plan on driving it from Ohio to mother in Florida and to roots in La. Do you know of a site that would direct someone to make a GT a highway monster? Suspension and gas? Thanks!!
Check out the engine I have in my ranger. Easily hits that hp mark and did not cost a whole lot.
Your car is awesome bro👍
i have a 1994 waiting for a refresh, i am aiming for the same n/a horspower.
Djernie T it can be done fairly easily on these with the right parts! Hope your build goes smoothly and thanks for the comment 🙏🏼
I'm buying a 95 GT 5.0 ...
Is the stock automatic transmission good enough to build more horsepower on it? For the record I'm not racing or trying to be Vin Diesel just want a little more vroom-vroom when I'm mobn... LMK
It should be fine for a little extra power
You lost me at carb lol
fast ford freestyle Biden 2020 lol I’ve heard that more than once 😂
Hola amigo, me limita el no saber inglés, pero si me pudieras ayudar con las modificaciones que usaste en tu 5.0 para poder traducir, gracias
Great content. Keep it up!
Luis Eduardo Costa Pereira thanks I appreciate it 🙏🏼
How do you feel on updating the 8.8 rear? You concerned? People say if your under 400-450 hp and don't run slicks we are fine.
How do you feel about c-clip eliminators ??
Do you just put the fuel pressure regulator in to run a carburetor? I mean I know the intake and carb is needed ofc but I’m just kind of lost as far as if the stock fuel system in mine that is an electric fuel pump will still work for a carb
Mason Perkins yes it will mine is stock pump. And been doing fine for 3 years now with the regulator, I have a return style regulator to help bleed some extra pressure off.
BustedKnuckleProduction awesome thanks man!
Where are they buying their steel 🤔
What diameter is the primaries on your headers? 1 5/8 in or did you opt for something larger?
1 5/8
What distributor are you running with this build. I'm doing the same thing to my 95. Bought a cheap one from Amazon and timing jumps around. Can't seem to find a good one.
I run a hei style distributor
@@lollis_garage3683 do I have to run a bronze gear on distributor.
Awesome 👍👍👍
Hey bro did you have to do anything w tuning or the computer to carb swap?
Not at all just had to adjust the carb slightly
Did you have to change your lifters as well?
Good question, I changed mine merely because of they’re age but you can use old but good roller lifters on any roller lifter cam. I just recently changed from a e303 camshaft to a lunati cam which are both roller cams and used the same lifters. Which is the ford performance brand roller lifter.
How is your valve cover to alternator clearance and what brand are they?
Idk the brand of the valve covers they were just some cheap no name ones, and I had to do a little grinding on the alternator and valve cover for the tall ones
Did you have to grind the pistons for valve clearance
No stock pistons
@@lollis_garage3683 you mean they are stock pistons and you didn't have to grind them or they are not stock
@@petestevens7876 no grinding pistons it’s 100 percent stock bottom end
So did you dyno this car? What compression..
Yes car made 330 wheel so around 380 390 crank hp, compression ratio should be 10.1
Is this a regular 5.0? What I mean is non-HO...
Hey bud what do ya tune the car with
Or ya just go off the carb on yours for all that
I've ran the E-303 in my 302 along with world products windsor Sr, milled down to 58cc.
What regulator are you using?
Stock pistons? Didn't have to notch them with 2.05 valves?
Nope even with a 572 lift camshaft and 240 duration at .50.
Do you regret going with the carb at all?
I haven’t yet, I’ve been really happy with it for the last 4 years or more
As a strict traditionalist I prefer stock; keep it like it came off the line, but I like watching your videos on mods, always learn something new!
$1800 for a pair of assembled CNC heads is dirt cheap, Windsors are the reason I'm getting away from 2.3 Lima turbo motors....
What part of SC are you in?
Jonathan Chapman upstate SC near Greenville
BustedKnuckleProduction same here man!!
Nobody I know cares about crank horsepower, It's all about what gets to the ground. BHP is for the knobs across the pond.
I have this engine in my 68 falcon
Do u think I can run lunati .535 .544 lift with them heads with no problem?
Tora Pruitt whats the duration. The lift of the cam is fine but the duration is usually what causes the clearance issues, I had a lunati 586 572 with 239 232 duration at .50 and was fine
@@lollis_garage3683 intake 224 0.50 exhaust 232 0.50 advertised 284 intake advertised 290 exhaust 112 lobe
Tora Pruitt you should be just fine I had had the bigger lunati cam for a while and it was fine. So I’d say go for it
@@lollis_garage3683 do you think I can run 1.7 rockers
Tora Pruitt should be able to that would put the cam at .565 .574 and duration remains the same, so you should be okay to do that.
have 94 5.0 great video!!!!!!!!! focus ;(
Thanks 🙏🏼 and yes the focus was hurt lol
Thanks for the laughs but I tuned in to see a 302 video not BS about some rusted out suspension POS car!
im just curious if you noticed a difference not having the strut tower brace? im thinking of taking mine off its kinda restricting my options for after market intakes
troy peterson boi haven’t seen any major difference with it off maybe a little but nothing you can just obviously tell.
I don’t no what ford was thinking wen they mad a 187 hp mustang

6.7 push rods? Should be more around 7.2. I have these heads with b303 ironic. I have 7.2in pushed with a .038 sweep

Being a engine builder the letter cams are nothing in today's technology world
Oh you’re definitely right but they still do decent for what they are and they’re a great streetable cam if you just want something for sound
1:39 WTH???!!!
A E Cam wtf, sorry bro not to burst your bubble, put a B303 in that fook n thing. call it a day. or get a AEX Cam upside down letter A, get your self another 48 HP added and advance your timing 2 degrees at a time to get that higher number Horse Power. E cam is both hp and rpms , the B Cam give some rpms but keeps your Horse power where it needs to be. the AEX Cam was used in the old High Performance Boss 302 Engines . you want to go more then just fit a 351 heads and the 351W Cam. or the Cleaveland Heads . and call it the Boss Cleavage build.
one more thing to mention as well go to a junk yard pull the whole EFI intake off a Cobra jet 5.0L Ho engine throw that on same size bolt on throttle bore 7.5mm but the inside is different tunneling added in then a regular EFI intake. different as well from the gt 350. cobra jet intake will make that fox body of your 5.0L HO fly past a GT 350.
build your imagination in to reality build. there you have it make it happen as well advance your distribitor 2 degress at a time on the dyno and see the peak performance get out over 400 hp i seen them go anywheres from 402hp to 444hp to over 500hp
some even over 600hp thats boring the engine out to 40 over . with other mods done.
but as of now all new models they be making will have the Chevy LS Engine in them. there switching to Chevy LS Engines. that's the rumor i heard going around.
Holy shyt.. that's not how things work
@@codyramos3200 what r u referring to..everything i stated is 100% correct
Why do ppl cough like that lol
Holy shit that focus is BAD
Just put a 5.3 LS in your SN95 and be done with it, you’re welcome.
Stock Coyote snack
Coyotes are great, but the ol 302s will run great with a little work, my car makes 330 wheel which is respectable for what’s done to it.
And you can’t really compare the 2 I mean the car comes stock with 210hp and the coyote comes stock with 400. Both great platforms though.
Coyote is a snack for my 393 foxbody lol. I only need 3 gears to blow the doors off most bolt on coyotes.... 🙃
I have a 92 flareside f150 with a 5.0 that I'm trying to figure out which direction to go with, the fi on it is archaic and hard to make improvements on and I've heard horror stories about vacuum issues when you switch to carburetor
I haven’t had any vacuum issue with my carb setup but if you stay fuel injected I’d go with a stand alone Holley dominator system
302s give crappy performance, and crappier fuel mileage in a truck. A 351 Windsor is what you want; more stroke and displacement give the grunt it takes to move a heavy truck with authority.
