To everyone asking “why, can’t you do all this on the main anvil?” The small anvil allows for specialized dressed edges, and is much easier to keep dressed to a mirror finish, so it is useful for clean, crisp precise finish work, and can be more easily modified if a specially dressed (shaped) edge is needed. One can think of it as a semi-disposable tool to be modified for special situations, rather than modifying the edges of the main anvil.
There's a song in there somewhere... well, the rhythm of the pressing has the makings of a song! Love the look of the molten metal being squashed in that press! 😁
I guess i don't understand why this piece is needed cause you can do all that without it. I'm bot a blacksmith tho and don't know much. It has ''mad hatter'' vibes cause it flared out on top. I hope it does everything for you that you hope it will.
Excellent idea/principal also for making tooling for Presses whether it be for Hydraulic or Fly-press and also Swade Blocks..thank you much appreciated ❗👍🏻🙇♂️
Sometimes you need to work on a piece in such a way that both ends need to hang of the anvil, so having a small insert like this is helpful. Also sometimes using a small anvil like this helps keep from cooling the work piece so fast.

Even after cutting it that still took a few hard hammer strikes... That must've been a pretty damn good weld job.
Was about to comment on that until I saw yours, lol . That was some amazing welding
You had your work cut out for you.nice transformation as always.just keep doing what your doing and keep putting out great videos.great video 😎😎😎👍👍👍
🔥🔥🔥
So it's a small anvil for your hardy hole. A stake anvil is one that would have a spike at the bottom to be pounded into a stump.
Clever and smart reuse of the hammer. Seasons Greetings!
What's the point? It's nothing that you can't do actually on the anvil?
sharper corners and angles you cant get normally i assume
oh this hurts my soul. no sledgehammer should be abused.
The fucking welded on tube made me die inside
Being (ab)used is its only purpose. Isn't it?
@@LittleGreyWolfForge same here!!! 🤣🤣🤣
True bro. Same here.
@@T_B If I saw that I would track down whoever did …
Thank you, you've inspired me to turn an old wedge I have sitting around into a stake anvil.
If you were going to cut the head of the sledge in half anyway, why go to all the trouble of pounding out the remnants of the handle?
Maybe he thought it would be fast and easy and simple?
Curious how you determined that a water quench was the way to go. Did you know what kind of steel it was?
Well that thing looked like crap lol
I know right 😂

Всё думал, думал, что же такое происходит то! А оно вот оно чего вышло то значит 😮 Понятно! 😊
I would have upset that stake a bit more a so that it would be a snugger fit in the hardy hole..
Merry Christmas Black Beard Projects and have a nice day and enjoy the holiday. 🇮🇹🎄🎁🎁
You must participate in forge in fire ❤
What did you end up doing with the other half?

I feel sorry for your vise; it took a lot of abuse.
Not sure what the point of that is
👍

Merry Christmas! 🎁🌲🎅🏻👍🏻🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮
Very nice mate. Such a beautiful restoration 😊😊
Hello from Australia 🇦🇺 wow 😮 very nice, thank you
You are very talented. I really enjoy your videos. Merry Christmas!
Hi sir👍👏thats a clever ida my friend 👍🙏i like that lol.
what was the point in that
Something tells me that was a homemade power hammer Now it gets to be a new tool it is hard to say how many hands that hammer went throw
2:14 mas se já ia cortar a peça em duas, por que tanto esforço pra tirar a sobra do cabo?...
Good thing you had a sledgehammer! Great reuse!
neeeed one
what cutting disk are you using ? diamond one ?
Necessity is the mother of innovation.😊
can't you do all the work you do on it on the big anvil too? i just don't see why you need to add a smaller anvil to the one you have...

Interesting video thank you for sharing this six stars
Broke the sledgehammer 😊
Great video sir
Wow, this is amazing 👍
Good job well done
Зачем кувалду сломал?
Very nice! I use the same thing for the small amount of forging that I do. I'd love to have a big anvil, but I really don't need one.
как запороть кувалду
