    No, you can get the ER retirement visa in Siem Reap too, not just Phnom Penh. It’s US$290. at any travel agency like he said. It takes about 10 days to get your passport back from Phnom Penh where it’s processed. I’ve done this twice now.

    Interesting interview. I live in North East Thailand, moved here 5 years ago from the UK in my 40's and I came with very little after getting divorced and I don't think the visas for Thailand are complicated and there are plenty of agents to help those who may need it. Now after 5 years I have a new wife, a 3 year old boy, we have designed and built our own 500sqm house and neighbouring compost and soil production farm business which employs 4 local people and my life has been transformed for the better. Like Cambodia the climate can be hot at times but you learn to adapt and we built our house with passive cooling techniques so we don't need AC in our 150sqm living room but we do use AC in the bedroom most nights as we prefer cool for sleeping. I would recommend SE Asia for anyone looking for a new start life adventure and the cost of living coupled with the beautiful friendly people make for a great life and there are many business opportunities here also.

      @@adventurefreaksss I know a 70 year old foreign woman living in Cambodia who pays $1,100 a month($13,000 a year) for comprehensive health insurance. Her policy would pay for a flight to Bangkok and then treatment at the hospital of her choice in Bangkok. I can't imagine a senior citizen getting any kind of quality coverage for a catastrophic situation like cancer or heart surgery for $150 a month.

    • @adventurefreaksss
      @adventurefreaksss  3 місяці тому +2

      @@PMLynch If somebody in Cambodia is paying 1100 per month for health insurance, which is more than the US who leads the world in Bankruptcies due to medical bills, she needs to explore her options. I've not heard of costs coming even close to what you described in SE Asia. All the data we've accrued she could do much better.

      Any health/hospitalization coverage for a senior at 70 years old is crazy expensive per month and unaffordable IF you can even find a company. Mostly, we are uninsurable.

      @@adventurefreaksss She basically wanted the gold standard for her insurance. She's Australian and she wanted something that would cover her 100% in her country of choice for the worst possible prolonged illness. She will have the option of treatment in Bkk, Singapore or Australia. She could have found a plan for a little less but she was comfortable with and could afford a high-end plan and has little interest in Cambodian hospitals.
