I will be arriving in Phnom Penh, hopefully within the next month Is it possible to get some information on a teaching position? Thank you PS I’m from Canada
Look at doing a course as lots of places want English teachers . I myself have been offered an art teaching position and I’m just going through the rigmarole of it
Thanks for the video. Currently in Thailand, I'm contemplating whether to move to PP for a new job. Seems like a nice place. And many places to go. Thanks again for the insider's vop.
Great video, Ryan. I wanted to catch up at some stage but will be back to Aus for 3 months shortly. so maybe when I get back. You put alot of work in the back end of your video's . People just don't realize the work that goes' into producing these things. It's your full time job. My subscriber count is coming along and love making my v'logs but will never have the talent that you project, Always enjoy your video's , Take care Ken.
Appreciate the vlog. Looking at locations in SE Asia (The Philippines; Thailand; Malaysia; Cambodia) retire. I expect financial and social upheaval in the States, so having an escape plan is important.
Having just returned from Phnom Penh after staying there for almost a month, I can safely say your video is a very true picture of life there. From tuks tuks price to expenditures. Some videos say you can survive on 500 USD a month and live very well obviously is not telling the truth. Although it is cheap in terms of western pricing, however, Phnom Penh is not as cheap as what people perceived. Decent meals for 2 with drinks can cost up to 80USD or even 120 USD if you go to a hotel roof top bar.
Very informative and well done. Cambodia is now on my list of "possibles" as a retirement destination. One thing, though: You mention the Cambodians' friendliness, but in the section of the video where you said it, the doughnut-sellers didn't look too friendly!
@@chanseng5042 I suspect you are right. I just thought that it was a funny place to remark in the narration about the friendliness of Cambodians, as the visuals gave a different impression, whatever the reason. I certainly did not intend my comment as a criticism of any kind.
Sounds like a sweet setup. One bad thing can be getting to and from the airport. My last trip to Phnom Penh the trip from the airport to the riverside took longer than my flight from Bangkok. I have also taken the bus from Saigon to Phnom Penh a few times which is an easy trip. Took the bus from Phnom Penh once in 2015 it was a bumpy12.5 hour hellish ride because you would go from paved road to dirt road over twenty times so much that I paid extra and flew out rather than take that bus route again. The one thing I don’t like about Phnom Penh is to many historic buildings are being torn down and ugly high rises going up.
I personally like Phnom Penh too. Was there in 2014 and it was rough then. It still isn’t the best QOL though. Bad air, no clean water, and no outdoor nature or mountains around it. It’s a cool visit though.
I really enjoyed the visit in Cambodia planning to retire here. I can find a place cheaper than $300 a month and a ride costs about $10 round trip they sit and wait
Awesome you have free health insurance. For those seniors considering retiring to Asia always factor in $400 - $700/mo for FULL healthcare coverage vs. your home country's plan. (e.g. MediCare in the USA $185/mo).
Ryan, this would be a great idea in terms of having two channels. Simply design a secound channel catering to international professionals? Once a week or whatever ( I actually thought this is what you had done lol!) Cheers
Hello Ryan, Your videos are so inspiring that i am considering try out a life there as expat. But I just found out one big challenge is how to hook up a bank account in the US to a Cambodian bank account there - The US banks do not have any financial services with Cambodian baking system...that is to say how to facilitate bank to bank transactions online. Appreciate your recommendations,
Hi. I've heard this from another vlog. The expat opened an acct w/ a foreign bank (HSBC, I think - it's based in Hong Kong). Then opened another acct w/ ABA, a Cambodian bank. From his US acct, he transfers to his HSBC acct, then HSBC to ABA acct. The ABA acct is linked to his Grab acct (equiv of Uber), utilities, etc. I'm not sure if it was HSBC (can't remember exactly) but am sure abt ABA bank, since another expat said it's the best bank in Cambodia (for her). Another expat uses Wise to connect to her UK account. From Wise, she transfers the money to her ABA account.
Nice video! I noticed there are no side walks. BTW, if you needed major surgery, would you fly back to Canada (OK, bad example with the long waits), or AU, NZ, or KL or Singapore or would you stay local with your health insurance?
There's been no change to his channel. We love the content Ryan produces on his channel and thought our International Living audience would enjoy his insights into life in Cambodia.
WOW..... nice job putting this together. The Capital seems like a better tourist destination for me. My pick - because I'm old - is Siem Reap for an "ideal retirement destination" just a wonderful little city with everything needed and very cheap prices. The over 55 retirement visa is awesome !!! Bangkok is only a 1 hour flight away. However - I heard somewhere that some 20,000 expats from all over the world do live there ! Some with a business - many retired and some young digital nomads. English is used by many locals - streets business names and menus are in English as well as use of the USD. ---- When all said and done - I may very well end up there myself ! 🤗 ❤ 🙏 👍 ✌ 👋 👌 🍺 🎯

You live in Cambodia with more 1300 Dollars ?! Why obviously dipend what style of life you do ! But I personally live in Cambodia to but with only 400 $
Just spent almost 3 months in Southeast Asia. 2nd time there. Last time just before the plandemic. I was in Thailand mostly but visted Burma, Laos, and Vietnam. I have a Thai wife. We have a small house in central Thailand (Chaiyaphum). I was in Siem Reap for a couple of weeks. I was impressed by the city of Siem Reap. A nice city with river running through it and nice large open areas where people congregate for exercise, especially late afternoon and evening. Back on the Big Island of Hawaii now. But, hahahaha.... I was waiting for your signature humor and sarcasm to slip out. My hat is off to you sir... For playing the straight man for this video. I thought I detected just a bit of strain and effort on your part holding it all together.😅
110 dollars rent ,obviously is not a villa but there is all you need 23 $ electricity and 3 $ water ,250 $ food at month of course ,obviously I have not a car or motorcycle but I have a modern bicycle! And some time I get a nice girls for sex !!
That boxing scene is NOT kun khamare. It's THAI BOXING or MUAY THAI. Their moving around gesture is quite different. As Muay Thai has become more popular, they just took it and use all the rules and regulations of Muay Thai and just call it kum khmare. Easy af. They also copied a famous Thai ghost story "Pii Mark" shamelessly. The team admmited publicly. 😂😅 I think they're trying to shorten the path of economic development but it is too much. There are something else but that's it for now.😅 We can't choose our neighbors, right.
I move to Phnom Penh in 57 days! Cannot wait

I'm looking at teaching over there as well. Have uni degree and post graduate studies and have over 25years experience
Totally agree. I've been here for over a year now, and it's a good life.
You got featured in the Khmertimes, 24 Nov 24. I guess "International Living" has more cachet than "Itchyfeet".

That bread and coffee for $4.50 is expensive. I regularly get large delicious meals in Thailand for less.
