Finally someone standing up against NMM - I admit it looks awesome - from one single direction. With metallics, you get an actual metal effect everywhere, as god and Vallejo intended,
In Vallejo we trust
I'm not a fan of NMM. What makes it worse is I mostly paint Marvel Crisis Protocol and hate when people do NMM on those models. And it happens a ton. It is current day people, shiny metal please.
Yeah, I'll be really glad when that fad dies. It honestly kinda wigs out my eyes. Looks pretty good in a static picture but when the perspective rotates the bits that my brain defined as shiny don't actually behave the way it expects.
I'll tell you what though, try using nmm techniques with metallic paints. Works *really* well IMHO.
I really like NMM, but only if a light source is part of the miniature itself. Then having the light work from only one direction makes sense.
Me, I'm trying to learn it, and I've come close to it a couple times, but really? It's a total PITA most of the time. Will it be worth it to learn? Likely, yes. But TMM is a wonderful technique when done well and I'm perfecting that too, and frankly? I'm finding that far easier. Besides, the Vallejo Metal Color paints are just plain amazing.
Hmm, duly noted. As someone who is currently wrestling with wrapping his head around the notion of NMM, it's nice to see someone who still likes metallic paints along with me.
where's that mini from, it's very cultured.
It's from Artisan Guild :D A little while back. I'm a man of culture, too. :D
She's very cute
Spectacular result!
The effect Is great on the hood, the metallic green reflex Is well done .
Beautiful work Doc. Keep the videos coming.
Spectacular, so colorful and vibrant artwork! Thanks for sharing your techniques...Big like..👍💖.💕💞
awesome technique! very clever.
Looks good
awesome work!!!
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
That came out very nicely. Seeing I've been using color change paints I'd be tempted to dab some of them over a black dots instead of going the gun metal/inks route but it is very effective.
Doc any chance you could do a tutorial on painting this model without the robe?
Makes me wonder how some of those fancy color-shifting paints would work for this that all those cool kids are making nowadays. They're basically metallics in gloss varnish and react weird based on the basecoat they're painted over.
Just a heads up that the model is by Artisan Guild and not Artisan Design.
Y'all gonna hate me, but uhhhh, *IMAGINE THE HEAD*
What is the model from? Pretty cool.
