It’s really great to watch this off the back of watch Vince’s video where he explains why he’s never doing GD again. The variety of the models, the variety of painting styles, the openness of the judging, all looks so amazing. I’m no competition painter, but those minis were inspiring to see!
I am really happy to see the painters and their minis together. I think this is something that gets missed - most people will lose, so the point of a painting competition is to share your work first. Thank you for sharing their work.
Thank you guys for putting this together, really appreciate the celebration of all the artists and their art. Still riding that high from the gold in mid category.
I absolutely loved this video. It's so awesome to see the artists behind the work and just hear their passion and excitement. All the pieces were beautifully done and everyone should be so proud of their work!! Super inspiring.
Vince is an excellent judge. His point of view and respect heʻs showing fellow painters is amazing. Iʻd really love to paint something and have him give me a critique.
Very awesome, both the quality of the video, but also those models. Just amazing and incredibly impressive what therse artists have created there. Also nice to see the camaraderie and friendlyness. This is how competitions should be: Challenging, fun and fair.
This would be so hard to judge for since I just wanna award them all, incredibly done and even for the people that weren’t finalists these are breathtakingly beautiful models.
I am engageing for the algorithm! That being said, lovely that you spend time to really showcase as many entries as you could fit and let the people behind the mini share their thoughts and feelings in addition to their gorgeous minis! Maybe GW could learn a thing or two from you (and the other organizers) for golden demon! That way those of us who can't make it to the events get to see even more from the incredible entries than 3 pictures from the top 3 finishers!
I am just BLOWN AWAY at the model around 8:05 … Before the feature, there was a clip in the beginning of the video and it immediately caught my eye..(ironic)..(EYE-ronic?) The detail and the level of depth and biological accuracy in the 70 or so eyes alone is STAGGERING…the rest of the piece and in its entirety, leaves me without words except for, this piece is absolutely legendary. I really hope that the artist is painting full-time and making an absolute killing doing it. What a BEAST!!!
I appreciate it so much the you folks made this video and shared the resin beast competition with us. Already love your channel, and this was an amazing surprise. Thank you! Please do it again next year
Awesome to see the submission gallery! I was fortunate enough to see the cases in person, but I love that you can see images of the entries all in one place in the future.
Awesome coverage! I REALLY hope you guys continue this next year, and for any other painting event you can in the future. We need more videos like this in the community!
its so weird... i always see Seth at my local game store painting and but never really knew who he was, but now i see him on the main warhammer channel I watch and find out he is a well known painter... well i might ask him for tips now
Unfortunately, it would have been nice to see the names of the winners when you were showing the graphic of the category they won with images of their models. Still, great coverage and I really hope you do this again next year.
@@PlayOnTabletop oh and also, I freaking love you guys. I'd watch your videos even if lamb chops sing a long was playing on a constant loop for 10 hours. So, just a simple critique is all. Much love ya'll!!
@@PlayOnTabletop I also don't wanna be that guy that just makes dumb little critiques on all your hard work. There was so many amazing models shown, great vid really.
I wish creature caster would make more miniatures. All of their cool stuff has been sold out for months. It's all cool, but the stuff I gravitate towards is toast.
I could never pick any of these as a winner... how?! They all won.. bruh this is why my inner perfectionist hates painting cuse I just don't have the hands to do it 😭. They all so beautiful!!!
Ok idk if this is going to be read but I’m trying to get into warhammer is there like a thing or box I can buy for the things I would need to start the game?
Eh, I liked painting my Votann army, but they aren’t fun to play. Any army that focuses on not interacting with the game, and stopping their opponents interaction with the game instead of just playing it is just bad design. I hope they do better in tenth. Shutting off rerolls for wounds and damage, and not having to do wound rolls while you get all of the rerolls is wrong. It’s an army where winning always feels bad.
2:49 -- This woman's large miniature didn't even place?!?! Wow what a travesty! That was the best looking model by far 😢 7:13 -- The guy who got second place with the grotesque model where the tongue comes out of its stomach and wraps around its own arm... he didn't even paint the entire model! He put a lame cardboard banner at the rear of the model's base and the back of the cardboard was entirely unpainted. Weak.
The queen of ruin model won, it didn't finish second, and I promise you that the entire model was painted. Sam is a crazy good painter, and the judges they used are literally some of the best painters in the world.
@@isaacnanney2123 -- Wow, what a tragedy the Queen of Ruin model won and it wasn't even completely painted 😢 Ruined the competition you could say. At 7:13 in the video, as the Queen of Ruin model is being rotated, you can clearly see the bare cardboard all along the back of the model. That's pure laziness on the painter's part. And if you look closely in slow-mo on the far right side of the screen at 12:44 in the video, you can see the Queen of Ruin model being judged while its unpainted cardboard banner is still attached to it. Sloppy.
@Jake the cardboard is not part of the model my dude, it's the backdrop. The back of it is not meant to be seen. That would be like faulting an artist for not painting the back of the canvas. And anyone who puts 150+ hours into a piece is the OPPOSITE of lazy.

Sam Lenz is a juggernaut on the US painting scene, and he’s also an incredible teacher and a great dude.
You’d think I’d be used to hearing my voice… oh gosh.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with your voice and your painting skills are out of this world 👍👍
I used to run a popular podcast (back in the days before they became so saturated) and editing my voice was always rough.
@@mattburgess5697 I know its always the hardest thing to handle. But I have been assured that I don't sound so shaky!

A really good video showing some amazing work, while humanizing both the contestants and the judges AND the judging process! Excellent content

I'm so jalous there is such not competition in France,Bravo to all talented painters !
Great content as always from you lot!
I am consistently blown away by the talent of these artists, it's actually insane! I have no clue how those judges could choose.
Awesome to see. Great video showing some great works and sportsmanship in the painting arena
I can't get over those eyes. SO MANY EYES
This was extremely well put together. Well done folks! It’s wonderful to see everyone again through your camera lenze as well.
So the weekend before c2e2? Nice! I know where I'm going for vacation next year.
Awesome to see the submission gallery! I was fortunate enough to see the cases in person, but I love that you can see images of the entries all in one place in the future.
Yeah, totally get it. Thank you for sharing peoples journey:)
Amazing video and scene. You had me rooting for everyone.
I wish I had known about this competition earlier. I would have enjoyed entering!
Ridiculous quality and they all seem so nice. So inspiring
Great Production, lighting, editing! :) Will be watching you guys closely now :) Also, Sam Lenz

Seth is the owner of the Game Kastle franchise. He’s also an amazing terrain builder.
This was so fun to watch! I really hope you guys get the chance to do more like this.
The models are amazing. Such talent! The artists are all winners!
Great coverage, thanks!
Yay! I'm seriously hyped to see all of the amazing entries again.
It's so cool to see all the different entries! Also it's awesome to see Alexei from Bestiarum. Their miniatures are always top-notch

I really thought silver would have won. It was very eye catching.
Amazing video...that background music when showing off the miniatures was horrendous though....
Noted

hard to judge all these pieces, they all look good.

From what I could see through my crappy screen, Gold and Silver went to the right contestants (imo)
ART!!!
I spotted @Miniac at 15:35 lol
I never mind about painting, but agree its art, BUT conversionz IZ MORE ART.
My god. I'm so dissapointed this god so lkittle views. I deserves a million. I mean it. Keep trying to do stuff like this
Great video of the competition! So amazing pieces and I can’t wait to enter again next year.

while i love seeing all the cool painting i do also think that if you work for the sponsors of the contest you really shouldn't be allowed to enter
