I met Anya in real life. She was so kind and she’s (believe it or not) much prettier in real life. My eyes are similar to Anya’s and I also got bullied for them. I think she’s stunning, and she inspires me so much.
her very eyes make such ethereal look that makes her stand out. It's her signature look, so I don't get the sore losers who would bully someone for that.
She's got a weird look (in that it's different to most) but I love it, it's so unique, and unique is always better in my books. That being said, I have to disagree with the bullying part. I'd even say it's essential, it makes or breaks us. I sure as hell wouldn't be the person I am today if I didn't change schools 3 times because of bullying, it taught me perseverance. As shit as it was to experience at the time, it's an unfortunate universal truth that hardship will always teach you the most. Typically you'll find that the most sensitive and talentless people that are still working a 9-5 deep into their thirties with no deep passions really haven't endured very much pain or taken many risks throughout the life. Good and bad experiences are equally important in life.
She was bullied for her looks??? She wasn't even an ugly duckling, she looks like a super model and it was obvious that she will be gorgoeus when she grows up. Children can be so cruel.
Her looks is captivating, she is very beautiful, can’t believe anybody would bully her, it’s like one of tswift musics “ppl throw rocks at things that shine”.
I have nothing against her, I actually really like her. It just feels weird how she comes from money (not a lawyer or doctor dad, but actual money lol) but no one seems to acknowledge that. What I mean, is that when you hear she dropped out of school at 16 to pursue her dreams, or that her family comes from a third world country or whatever, it paints a picture that’s not very truthful. At least from her dad’s side (the one who’s from Argentina), they actually come from a very privileged Scottish/British community on the north of Buenos Aires. Anya has spoken about her family owning a nature sanctuary in Argentina, which is true, but she never mentions the fact that that place is part of a very exclusive gated community that her dad owns, located on a private island, only accessible by yacht. His dad was a very successful banker, and while living in Argentina Anya used to attend one of the most expensive and elite schools in Argentina, the same school Queen Maxima of the Netherlands attended many years before Anya. Being rich is not a sin, but circumstances do change when you know the full picture lol. Also, Anya says that she was born in the USA by mistake, which seems very suspicious to me. She has 2 full siblings (with whom she shares both parents), and all 3 of them were born outside of Argentina (all of their Argentinian IDs are publicly listed in the internet, and in Argentina the IDs of immigrants are different than the IDs of people born in the country). So something tells me that her parents planned the vacation to Miami to give birth in the states, but who knows, maybe I’m just wrong and they made the same miscalculation 3 times in a row and gave birth to all of their children abroad by accident lol
I admire her too but agree that an archetypal narrative has been constructed around her here. A kind of 'Ugly Duckling' meets 'Cinderella' story to give other women something to relate to and fantasize about as is so often done in Hollywood.
@@finwefingolfin7113 yeah, well said. She’s never been ugly, pretty people also get bullied (and I’m not talking about “everyone’s beautiful on the inside” bs lol, she is objectively a decent looking person (at the least), with an interest life story, well traveled and with wealthy parents. How miserable can your life be? She reminds me of all the famous people exaggerating or twisting their lives on interviews to seem more relatable (like Sydney Sweeney, you should definitely look up her ‘lies’ if you haven’t already lol)
yeah don't workship celebs... even though you are probably workshipping awfull people like brad pitt or joaquin phoenix, or even an awfull president like Trump or biden, or even a fictional asshole like homelander or rick sanchez. I don't give a shit about the celeb background or ideology, if at least showcase true talent or do good stuff.
Whatever you say but she has an ineffable hardworking 'everyman' quality so that despite or because of (or nothing to do with) her upbringing nobody serious holds any of that (what you talk about) against her. She could lose that by becoming an ass but right now that's how it stands.
the witch came before Queen Gambits. It's one of her first important roles. as the same for Glass or in series like Peaky Blinders. Anyways she's amazing , and so charmig just because she's not a bond bimbo botox face. she's so graceful and chic. I love Anya, she's a great actress.
For all the people who tease her abt her looks, yall are just to used to seeing copy and paste beauty. Get used to seeing beautiful people who actually look different from the usual Instagram model face.
She’s talented but since she looks so special with the eyes, lips and white skin. I can’t really differentiate her from her other roles. The all are the same person.
I fucking hate schools and the fake social hierarchies they breed. Even adults are jealous of beautiful and talented people, so of course kids will be too. On the other hand, its good motivation for her to push herself and play diverse characters. I can see her winning awards.
In spite of her former films, she will always be Emma (what she portrays best), and she knows it -- which is why she is trying to expand her repertoire in new unexpected directions, to see what else she can master... some artists like that challenge, to broaden their skills, then, with a variety of skills, they have a chance for them all coming together in one masterpiece (which is defined by that coming together of all of the various smaller elements that you've been mastering). You just need a lot of those elements, and, to master them, the first step is to try them, which is why I give her an artistic pass on the ill-fitting Mad Max adventure -- as an artist, she needed to at least try it.
The difference in her looks is what makes her soooooo beautiful.......thats whatmakes herstand out.....as you age you realize this........women we are like a fine wine as we age...
i always thought anya was cute. yes she is definitely a versatile actress and i love the various roles she plays in movies. it's always nice to have these kinds of actors in movies because it's fresh to someone not stuck on a specific stereotype as an actor.
Even though it's never explicitly stated in the show, her portrayal of Beth in Queens Gambit is one of the best depictions of autism I've ever seen. It's not infantilizing and it deals a lot with what a lot of adult autistic people (like myself) deal with often, like relationship issues and addiction. Anya's probably NT from what I know, but she nailed it and that role really meant a lot to me.
I first saw her in The Witch and thought, "wow, she's gorgeous" but I didn't think much of it. But then I saw her again in Split and loved her acting and had to look up if it's the same actress and it is. Having said that, I do think she looks a bit weird now. I still think she's pretty but I think she's had some procedure done on her cheeks. When Split came along, I already knew she was gonna be great. I've followed her career since then. I think her best acting was in Thoroughbred and I loved her in Furiosa.
I almost didn't click this video because I thought it would be a conspiratorial, bullying video. I did though, and it turned out to be more of a tribute and presentation. I think this video should have another title!
She’s captivating, one of the most beautiful people alive. If she were my daughter I would certainly be accused of heavy bias as my daughter is beautiful and I get told that but the truth is the truth.
Sickening that a model got bullied. She's a model ffs, and pretty. So yes even prettier people get bullied 😢 Cindy Crawford has a mole in her lip, but was a model. Anyways Cultural confusion is dumb you should identify with where you live, if I live or move to america than I'm a american period. I will not sport a english or spanish flag that shit is disrespectful to the country. That doesn't mean that I have to agree with the status quo bullshit that slimey politicians push though. Some people think the prince of england is the straight up anti christ, who knows. I saw a video on it once. lol
American and Argentinian are nationalities. English I suppose is an ethnicity, as I suppose Spanish is as well. Argentina, America, and England are all countries founded and built by Europeans. So I think it's absurd that she feels out of place because she's not sure which European culture she fits in with. She's mostly Anglo-Saxon, with some Spanish thrown in. Basically Northwestern European.
You are beautiful. Who cares about how many mm apart or close your body parts are. Your not obese, your healthy, and that's better than half the population. You do you. I bet those idiots who teased you are just perfect and doing great. 😂
Hey Anya that must be some jealous girl, i dont think the fellas are going to be complaining much, lol. i dont think anything is wrong with her looks, shes gorgeous. i think she just looks like she should be speaking fluent spanish, thats all, maybe thats what threw people off. and knowing that shes Argentine really, that makes sense. she would fit right in Argentina
Anya Taylor-Joy is such a total babe, all that and a bag of chips. Dyed-blonde works on ATJ. "The Menu" was stupid rubbish and I am curious about your praise of it. But I agree that ATJ was the most lovely and charismatic creature in that film.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with her eyes or her look. Jealousy can be so damaging and bullying is so prevalent in schools. Sad.
She reminds me of Sid from Ice Age.

She’s effing gorgeous
SUPER CREEPY how she got scouted
I don’t get it, what exactly is “ weird “ about her ? She seems to be a normal person, living a normal life. Or is it just a clickbait title ?
