He was a creative genius. He made sure that ALL of his music was exactly the way he was in his emotions and mind set which included those of his band mates as well.. or any other musicians who accompanied him. He was able to make everything work music wise. It's sad that he couldn't do that in his private life. I LOVE you Chris! I hope to see you on the flip side of life. Until then my bro.❤
Not any other celebs death affected me so much as this guy's. Way too soon, stuff he wrote and performed got me through some really tough times, spoke to our generation best of all the grunge.
Not just a brilliant artist but a great communicator/ conversationalist. Listening to how comfortable he sounds with the darker forces that drove his creativity makes it even harder to wrap my head around his tragic end,. This was someone who harnessed his darker side to powerful effect but was ultimately overpowered by those demons. Depression doesn't care how smart, successful and brilliant you are. Thank you for for rocking so long and blessing us with your beautiful art, Chris. RIP.
i dont disagree with the accolades, friend. But - i do disagree that the darkness got him. He should have given in to it. [Which means POWER] Not ran out of steam trying to pretend he wasn't OF The Darkness. [See: solo and hybrid career. Or - this video... The dissonance felt - must have been massive throughout, for him. But he faked it with the phonies like the best of em.] Normie expectations and the Chester glamor wife clubs [if u know what i mean, here; congrats.] are a b word... Satan dont hurt. that crap does. [He denied his grounding energy in favor of hollow affects.] *much thought, here; given. Not said on a whim. & nothing w/this guy is as the greater fan base assumes.... "The Devil says"
No alcohol or abuse of drugs in his autopsy..the prescriptions added to his depression..and he had stopped his prescription for depression. Just really sad to lose such a beautiful human 😢 💔
I suffer with seasonal depression. As I get older the seasons seem to get longer. That being said, I will never understand how such a beautiful, handsom, AWESOME mind could get himself to the point where he could look in a mirror and want to be GONE. Especially with a loving wife and those beautiful kids. My daughter IS my will to love/ live every day. Obviously I don't fully grasp the depths one can reach. Recently heard he had chemicals in his system. That I can see motivating someone beyond sense and will but man, some things are just inexplicable and his death to me is one of those. We all miss you Chris. But believe me you're still here in our memories. If I hear anything from Superunknown I'm 19 again walking nearby my grandparents place I was staying in the country in Florida. Harder stuff takes me to a blurry memory of Lalapalooza in NY in 96. Thank you for providing the landscape for so many great moments in my life Sir. Also heard he wrote Black Hole Sun while traveling from a town I lived in in Washington, back to Seattle. Dk why exactly but man I get a kick outta that!
I come back to this interview from time to time and both laugh and cry - thank you Chris for being such an amazing artist and an awesome human being all the same too :)
Find his daughter Lily’s online discussions on mental health. Believe it or not hearing these stories from her dad’s friends help me with this loss. She is only 20 but seems stronger than me.
A part of my youth died along with chris. Whenever I pick up a guitar the first thing I play, even if just for a couple of chords, is always soundgarden. His music became a part of me.
36:40 - My first Soundgarden shirt was a vintage tee from eBay of their '92 tour that had a rip in it and smelled like an old closet. So glad they got the chance to truly revitalize and preserve their legacy.
You're special Chris! Blessed beyond comprehension, everything u touched was gold. We are blessed in the respect, we lived & got to witness your musical genius! God rest your soul! Forever in our hearts.
This is the first celebrity death during my lifetime I have literally felt sad for and I can't stop crying! So bummed about it. I think I liked him more than I realize and I had a genuine musical interest in him since high school.
Tanya Keenan my feelings exactly. Hes always been in back of my mind sinse 14. I had a crush that developed into admiration and respect. Im very hurt. Millions are.
Adelina30 ~ you said it when you said you liked him more than you realized, same here. I'd always really liked him and all of the band he played in but when I heard he was killed, and that's what I belive, it tore me up! I felt it before the day was over that he was murdered. What kind of investigation of a world known and loved star, for lack of a better word, wraps up in an hour and a half!? They do more investigating of a homeless crack head than they did him!! that was BULLSHIT!!! And that's when I knew he'd been murdered. But I've noticed 100's if not 1000's feel exactly the same way. His death was different, you can literally since it in your gut that theres something's wrong with the picture and it's not going away! It isn't being forgotten or let go but I think actually gaining more attention! Same with Chester Bennington! Dying "the same way" on Chrises birthday! His good friend and Godfather to little Chris! Nope, not buying one thing about it. Take care and keep planting the seeds.
@ dude don't be a douchebag. Not eveyone myself including has any connection to those ppl. Huge connection to Cornell though. Its music to me those other ppl mean nothing in my life experience. Cornell's voice has been the sound track to so much of my life
He always talked amazing tword his fellow musicians and so humble this is why we all fell in love and life with you sweet Christopher. No one sings like you anymore❤️probably never will miss you so much
still can't accept he's gone ,the world lost a genuine treasure today but he will live forever in the hearts and souls he touched while on this earth including mine prayers and love for all in pain over this loss may he rest in peace love you Chris
What a force. This was just a year before his passing. He came all this way and was so together. There is no way I will believe that this man took his own life. NO WAY.
No he definitely did not commit suicide. Check out Achilles Six's UA-cam videos for a much more in depth reason (s) why. It's refreshing to see more people using their common sense and intuition.
Still listen to you all the time. Miss you terribly and feel for your family. Will never forget you. My daughter and granddaughter also still love and listen to you. We have passed your music from one generation to another. It will live on always. ❤
No One Sings Like You Anymore 😔🙏🏼 He will always be my go to on backroad drives! A special soul who has touched so many through his music. Always remembered, Never Forgotten A true Legend - Fly High Chris. Thank you 💛
You know when I listen to Chris speak , and Ive listened to every interview out there ..it baffles me how a man with such precision and ease with words , he is so articulate , so knowledgeable..such a poet and phenomenal lyricist , its so baffling , disconcerting ,how someone of his God given talent ,somehow ,somewhere deep in his mental soul , his psyche it didnt seem to be enough , , or he felt unworthy , unhappy ,uncontent , to the point where he felt he no longer wanted to live ..this just has never made any sense to me , Chris loved his children, his wife , his band brothers from each band he was an intricate part of, but , did Chris Cornell not live himself ? Its so hard to digest , of all the musicians / singers we've lost , losing Chris has been the most bitter pill to swallow...to say I miss him seems so incomplete..Wherever Chris is today , I hope he found peace the missing piece of his time here with us ..No one sings like him anymore..😎❤🎤☉😢🎶🎧💋☮...
R.I.P you beautiful man. I pray for you, your wife & kids, your bands and all your fans. Your birthday was last week and Chester Bennington left us the same way too. R.I.P Chester. Praying for him, his family and LP. So sad. People need to stop calling people with mental illness selfish. This is a sickness just like cancer. We need to recognize and start trying to do more. 💔🌹 I'm also so tired of hearing it's a conspiracy. Just STOP! Remember these two human beings who gave so much of themselves have family that are mourning. These two guys are more than a just celebrities. They are sons, fathers, husbands, bandmates, friends and to their millions of fans... Rock Gods. Let's remember them, enjoy their music and let their families grieve and heal. R.I.P You're both Legends
Yes. Two immeasurable losses in one year. I couldn't believe Chester followed the same path, so close behind. Incredibly sad. The one-two punch of 2017.
Chris Cornell The man, the Myth, the Legend. There will never be anyone close to you Chris ❤️🎶💯💔 Rock and Hall of Fame. I love to hear Chris talk. Genius
He said it, if the new album had to be done tomorrow it could probably be done. He is also addressing this is a Soundgarden album and all members collaborated on the album. I stand with Soundgarden.
I never once heard Chris Cornell being anything but a gentleman to an interviewer ..so unassuming ..humble ..down to earth man ..he never came off as being egotistical ...tooting his own horn.just a warm kind hearted beautiful soul ..we had the privilege of having him here with us for 52 years ..we will have his musical legacy forever ..what a plethora of lyrical gems..whether Chris penned the tune or covered it..he neverfailed to disappoint ...I'm gonna go out on a presumptuous limb and say I feel the only person CC disappointed was Chris Cornell .. something caused his sad tragic demise I do hope he knew we the fans .millions of us ..loved him ..loved his music ..his humanitarian labors to make the world a better place for those that lived in a broken / tainted / painfully dark place ...I wish someone could've of labored as tirelessly and passionately over his wellbeing ..his peace of mind as he did for others ..especially the children..he seemed to have such a soft spot for the innocent who had no voice ..we will never see nor hear anything even remotely close to CC in this lifetime and lifetimes to follow.. .....I hope whatever darkened his path here shall never darken his way again on the other side ...Rest Easy Chris in peaceful contentment ...soaring ever higher ..🥰✌🤘🎶🎢🕍🛕💌🎶🎼💥💌..
There is no one and nothing that will ever make me even contemplate for a second that this man took his own life!! that's the first thought I had when I heard on the day and still my first thought more than two years later. . . You are so sadly missed Chris. your music your words your voice was the fuel that powered our souls for three decades. . . The day superunknown came out I brought it home and it played non stop on repeat for six months without a single break. just one example of many. I can go on all day. . NO CHANCE THAT THIS MAN TOOK HIS OWN LIFE! ZERO CHANCE!
I watch interview upon interview of him since his death, and I've come to the conclusion that it all makes no sense. This guy had so much to live for. Something had to have gone seriously awry. I never get caught up in celebrity deaths, but honestly I find this one so hard to swallow. I can't help but feel that this wasn't supposed to be his fate. The strange thing is, there is one other time in my life where I felt this way. It's when Jeff Buckley died, which is ironic considering the two were friends and Buckley's death certainly impacted Cornell in a big way.
Totally agree. Totally, every sentence you've written, especially this one " I never get caught up in celebrity deaths, but honestly I find this one so hard to swallow. I can't help but feel that this wasn't supposed to be his fate!"
Chris Cornell was absolutely the best songwriter and all around talent of our generation. He is missed by so many. His lyrics, his vocal range, he really was the only one I have ever cried about loosing. He's left us with a treasured talent and seems like such a beautiful soul.
Watching this interview and others, I just find it hard to believe he took his own life. I've never been a big follower of celebrities of any genre, but his death really affected me and I felt sad for weeks. I still love his music and I hope he's at peace. Blessings to all.
I love this interview it is so detailed about Soundgarden and about him Songbook is a great cd so is Carryon and Audioslave has always been one of my favorite bands I didn’t realize how many songs I loved by soundgarden until he died and I was revisiting the old catalog of music.
Still miss you very much. I've been listening to the same songs for 30yrs; can still remember the first time I heard BadMotorFinger on the radio. You will always inspire me.
At points, yes, but that criminally prescribed Ativan was the trigger. Damn those doctors that prescribed an addictive drug that can cause dramatically increased anxiety over the long haul, and suicidal impulses, and should never be prescribed long-term, especially for a former addict and depressive such as Chris was. This information comes straight from the drug maker's own website, as well as many others, not to mention experts such as Dr. Drew Pinsky.
Maravilloso conversador, con un lenguaje cálido y preciso, basta ver a sus entrevistadores el gozo de sus amplias tespuestas. Amo sus sueters, que le dan un toque tan tierno!
Such a huge loss still... Love ur music! Still listen to ur music including toy tube videos and interviews. No one else will even come close to ur talent or beauty! Bless ur wife Vicky and ur kids! U will b reunited in Heaven! XO
Mr. Cornell, may you find the peace and good, may you so g loudly for ALL TO HEAR, may you be remembered for the sheer unbelievable talent and legacy you gave to the world. Now you are truly at peace from the demons that plagued you. Such a real person and such a gentle soul
god dammit - I still miss chris...I was born to late and to late to all of his work...I don't know why but I just "get" him. He was just a super smart muso way outside of the normal...beatles, GNR, U2...he was above all that...just built different bu better.
He is just one more recording artist we lost too soon, it is always the ones with super talent to get taken from us, he like others so above average, the writing the looks, presence, with so much more in them. They experience things deeply and are tormented, I understand as a complicated person myself. I think Chris needed movie roles for sure.
We just love you, Chris. If love could have saved you, it would have. If I could have rescued you the night I talked with you, I would have (see my picture). If I could go back, I'd demand to hang after the show and go on tour with you and find you all the help you need. To demand you take time off and rest and ... it hurts. but my pain is echoed by millions... so.
Chris was such a deeply beautiful human being.

I agree man. Him passing is a painful thought.
I agree, amazing man with a beautiful soul.
Same here.
I still feel the loss deeply.
I feel the same and just a little while ago was the 3 yr anniversary of his passing. And its still guts me and think it always will.
He is such a brilliant, articulate speaker. I could listen to him for hours. :)
Ms3pugz so could i.
me too, and I do.....everyday since he was taken from us....
@M.G.H. P. how do you know that? He seemed to be seeking a higher source but never found it.
Me too
@M.H. Pech yes...thats why he looked just like him

Chris is a fucking legend
May he rest in peace....I was like WTF this morning when I heard he'd passed...and now that it was suicide? ugh...heart breaking...such talent!
valnaples, not suicide. Check out 'Higher Truth' you tube channel.
RIP Chris Cornell, we lost a musical genius, a husband, a father, a friend, a writer, a kind, funny, humble, inspirational human being.
He was such a beautiful kind hearted man! Always cares about the less fortunate x RIP
RIP Chirs Cornell you will never be forgotten. Thanks for posting this.
One of the best musicians in the league of true artists.....R.I.P Chris Cornell!!!
Chris is one of the greatest, love his music.. it's so powerful.
such a beautiful soul.....
he seems sober and so articulate and so well put together here, he had everything
He was sober 4 sure
Chris Cornell was everything very intellectual 🧐
It's difficult to know what's really going on in someone's head, or behind closed doors.
Chris was the Whole package!
No alcohol or abuse of drugs in his autopsy..the prescriptions added to his depression..and he had stopped his prescription for depression. Just really sad to lose such a beautiful human 😢 💔

Broke my heart when you left...such a precious life..miss the lyrics Sir.

I’m sure it originally smelled worse from all the hardcore dancing at shows. The was washed before the sale, keep that in mind. Grunge x10
intelligent Man what a heart, you are missed

If it’s true, then why doesn’t the police or a private investigator find the truth if there is s much evidence. I’m just wondering.
Goddamn i miss CC. Legend period. Captured my life in so many ways and always helped me through the bullshit. RIP.

That grunge super group up in the sky has got to be pretty stellar right about now.
yep
🥰🤘
And more to come!
I know ! So sad for us, but the music up there is literally heavenly 🎶
I just love his look. Brown skin, brown hair, blue eyes......you don't see that too often...
His eyes might be green. Either way.. gorgeous
Chris was more of an olive complexion, not brown 😂
I can just see Andy Wood welcoming his old, dear friend Chris home to Mount Olympus with open arms.
Heartbreaking.. Kurt & Layne
Aww. Good point. There is quite a reunion up there. RIP Chris and Andy. And some of their contemporaries too 😢
RIP good sir. you were a legend
Are. ❤️
Beautiful soul!
Chris Cornell The man, the Myth, the Legend. There will never be anyone close to you Chris ❤️🎶💯💔 Rock and Hall of Fame. I love to hear Chris talk. Genius
What a nice, lovable guy. And damn, I did not know that CC was such a big guy. Rock stars are always smaller or taller than you think they are...
Kim Larsson Soundgarden was the tallest band. All 4 were over 6 feet Ben Shepherd standing 6'4. Chris 6'3. Matt and kim 6'1
Saw him at a wedding and was surprised at his height
Right so I’m struggling with the hanging.. how does one as tall as Chris hang themself from a regular size door?
RIP Chris! A legend!

I didn’t realize how many songs I loved by soundgarden until he died and I was revisiting the old catalog of music.
The way he express , very enthusiastic for life , can"t believe he commited suicide. He loves his kids.
Justice is coming Chris 💙
Still miss you very much. I've been listening to the same songs for 30yrs; can still remember the first time I heard BadMotorFinger on the radio. You will always inspire me.
R.I.P Chris Cornell

cory larson I can't believe he's gone
At points, yes, but that criminally prescribed Ativan was the trigger. Damn those doctors that prescribed an addictive drug that can cause dramatically increased anxiety over the long haul, and suicidal impulses, and should never be prescribed long-term, especially for a former addict and depressive such as Chris was. This information comes straight from the drug maker's own website, as well as many others, not to mention experts such as Dr. Drew Pinsky.
MP Eveidently he thought of it before, but thats not the ONLY song, just the only one with suicide in the title.
Maravilloso conversador, con un lenguaje cálido y preciso, basta ver a sus entrevistadores el gozo de sus amplias tespuestas.
Amo sus sueters, que le dan un toque tan tierno!
Man I miss you Chris.
Still cant fucking believe it. Rip chris

35:10 now we know the true story behind SG reunition :) miss you Chris so much #chriscornellrip #soundgarden
He is just one more recording artist we lost too soon, it is always the ones with super talent to get taken from us, he like others so above average, the writing the looks, presence, with so much more in them. They experience things deeply and are tormented, I understand as a complicated person myself. I think Chris needed movie roles for sure.
Chris and Dime bags death changed my life! will never stop playing there music. Such a loss RIP will see you guys again soon!
My childhood's Heroes.😢
A tragic loss.... deep, smart....and in need of help that he sadly didn't get.
We just love you, Chris. If love could have saved you, it would have. If I could have rescued you the night I talked with you, I would have (see my picture). If I could go back, I'd demand to hang after the show and go on tour with you and find you all the help you need. To demand you take time off and rest and ... it hurts. but my pain is echoed by millions... so.
You cannot take a break from depression
Gorgeous pic and LUCKY to have met him. He was really tall Lol
Miss you Sweet Chris ❤
It's odd because he sounds like a film director here. Bet he could have tackled the industry.
Surisis ---You're right he does sound like one and could easily have done it too.
Surisis, I so much agree.
He was
