BTW, in the OG battlefronts, grenades and explosives (and tank fire i think) in water will cause a bunch of dead fish to float at the top. kind of a fun little detail.

Battlefront 2004 honestly looks MUCH better in terms of graphics than 2005. If you told me that Battlefront 2005 was really from 2002 or so, I'd probably believe you.
@@scottkrafft6830 eh, i personally prefer 2005's graphics. quality-wise, they're about they same (imo 2005 is better tho) but 2005 has a much more realistic, gritty feel to it, even though clones in the movie look much more clean and shiny

I have gone *fifteen years* without discovering first-person vehicles. I have needed this for so much of my life.
I miss so many things of that game though, like the maps from Rhen Var which I don't even know where it ever appeared in Star Wars, but those 2 maps of Rhen Var from Battlefront 1 were awesome, as well as Geonosis (with those geonosian fighters) or Naboo plains (with the Gungans playable) and the other 2 maps of Bespin (Platforms and City).
Yeah, I loved those Rhen Var and Bespin maps as well.
IDK if this was its first appearance, but before Battlefront, Rhen Var appeared in the (I think) 2003 Clone Wars game which was also made by Pandemic.

On the Kashyyyk docks map from battlefront 2, my brother and I used to be the jet trooper and fly to the island with the vehicles. One of us would steal a vehicle while the other captured the command post to prevent any more vehicles from spawning. It was difficult, but the few times we pulled it off, the droids stood no chance.
Did you know that kashyyyk does not have any seasons.

I don't think many planets in the star wars universe really have any seasons. A lot of them are all just one climate.

You can kill hero’s with explosives in bf1. It takes some effort but leading them in circles dropping mines works well
The easiest strategy is just to knock them off a ledge.
I can't believe you never played the very first battlefront game. I was 10 at the time and played battlefront exclusively. Both of the Renvar maps were my favorite.
Battlefront (2004) was released closer to May the 4th (be with you) then Battlefront II (2017) therfore the Kashyyyk in the OG Battlefront was better.

My childhood game... it sounds ironic but one of the few things that can kill a hero in that game is the "high ground", i remember the pure satisfaction of making a hero fall from bespin platforms with a grenade XD

Btw if the reinforcments hit 20 or so, you can kill the Jedis and Sith with normal blaster fire and they dont respawn anymore instead, of driving them over or throwing them into the abyss.

I remeber playing this game on PS2 as well. pretty much WAS my childhood, playing BF1 and BF2. I remember always playing as the CIS, because the droids got the dual-zoom snipers, which were easier to use (for me at least), and immediately capping the commandpost for the top deck of one dock, so i could snipe the 50 million enemies trying to capture the other dock.
Before i watch, of coarse the og battlefront has better speeders
One thing to remember! In the original battlefront you can get into any un-manned vehicle! So the rebels and the clones don't have any because they also have the chance to steal one! :)
The clones can get veichales on the beach map if you run over to the separatist island base and capture it (bring some bots as back up tho)
It's unfair compare a 2004 game to 2017 game.
IMHO the 2004 Kashyyyk map had more content and freedom.
In the 2017 map lack droidekas, Snail droid playable, HMP, etc

The Wookiees definitely made up for the lack of Vehicles. The entire match Wookiees would continuously spawn (a variant even has a rocket launcher) and they can mow down loads of droids but killing the Wookiees doesn't count towards the Republic reinforcements, meaning killing them does nothing in terms of winning while they can murder your entire army.
Also extremely confusing in Civil War era when trying to distinguish whether the Wookiee is a Rebel Wookiee Smuggler or just a random native that doesn't count towards reinforcements
Random fact: in OG Kashyyyk from 2004, Droidekas kills themself trying to reach the beach because they drown in the water while in wheel mode.
I’m guessing the devs consulted with some of Ralph Macquaries artwork of kashyyyk to make this map pre ROTS. Also I am glad you mentioned the fish. I don’t remember much from BF (2004) but for some reason those fish stuck.

The original Battlefronts. I still have the discs of 1 and 2 for Xbox. Definitely my #1 childhood game. I will say though, between the two originals, I think I like both of them as much, but the first one had more of my favorite maps and you were able to command the bots. I wish I saw those features in the second one.

2004 one has offline which means unlimited replay value and you can choose ur faction. New one is online only... so 2004 wins
EA's Battlefront have arcade mode too. Besides, this game still receiving regular updates, like new gamemodes and maps, so maybe DICE will add something for offline-mode (better AI, for example). But still, 2004'th Battlefront have a lot of mods, like Republic Commando, Mandalorian Wars and even Mass Effect.
That 1st person cockpit view blew my inner child’s mind. Another missed opportunity.

there was a way to kill the jedi or sith:
1-take a tank or rocket launcher.
2-shoot at their feet to push them back.
3-keep shooting until they get out of the map.
4- keep them out of the map for 10 sec(not in bespin, they just fall).
5-they die.
I loved both Kashyyk maps in OGBF. Islands especially just has an awesome vibe, not to mention its one of the only night maps in the game.
This video reminded me that I actually preferred OG Battlefront 1 to OG Battlefront 2, the tanks feel really solid and even a single laser from a tank or ship will kill if it connects.
I remember that the destroyers tended to roll into the water and die on Kashyyyk dock at the beginning of a round. I also remember that I used to copy the AI and try to get to the beach while rolling as a destroyer, it never worked.
I don't even think that I knew about the first person vehicle thing and I've had this game for years...

My favourite thing to do as a kid was try and kill mace windu on naboo. If you remember the hill on that map, I used to camp at the top and throw grenades on the floor until mace ragdolled off of the top.

The thing I mostly hate about the new one is that if you choose a ship you spawn in the air if there would be a cutscene were you get in the ship and then fly in the air it would be way cooler
A fp view in the stap would make it a lot easier to see for me (especially since I use first person for everything)

The problem with the Special Units is that they are always designed to come in balanced pairs or something. Instead of a Droid with a Heavy gun they could have just made the SBD the Heavy Class, and the *!!!DROIDEKA!!!* becomes a Special Unit.
The dark trooper in the 2004 bf was WAAAAAAYY to OP a shot gun and jet pack SIGN ME UP 2005 switched his shot gun for the clone pilot taser (which I hated it was a legit wet napkin)

I played og bf2 on ps2 I love rebuilding turrets with engi class and it was soooo good to play with the galactic marines with the fucking mini gun or tuning a droidica
But don’t forget KOTOR (2003), having an explorable Kashyyk

The republic and the rebel alliance do have ships and tanks but there on different maps trust me I have the game
On Island I remember CIS bomber shooting down me and my mates from above, those AI knew how to be bastard at high difficulty. On docks the secret to win was sniping from a dock to the other while the other players is going to catch the command post. If they bring xbox live to old battlefront again I would play it everyday.

If the add all the 3 old Kashyyyk map in the new battlefront I would play them always, those maps are all 3 absolutely great.
The Jedi can actually be killed. But it takes two different people unloading everything you have into them, Ive done it. Its a pain.

I played both battle front games in order because I didn’t know they were separate experiences
Honestly the AI heroes in the first Battlefront were a ton of fun to turn on. I loved shooting rockets at their feet to make them fly to the side as they try to attack me. I liked to see how long I could survive doing that.
Do you think we’ll get a Star Wars Battlefront 3 on next gen consoles?! I hope they take the galactic conquest campaigns and other great modes and features
