This cutscene touched me more than any other scene in a game up to date. It made me realize that every little friend I made throughout the game was not for naught. Even in the hopeless trial that was presented before Ammy, her long companionship with Issun paid off when he encouraged Ammy in her time of need and even gave her newfound strength by gathering the faith of all those they met in their journey. Even when separated, Issun and Ammy's friends supported her until the very end.

Until Okami HD released. I bought it for Xbox One. And I tought I was ready. I tought Okami would be like another game like Zelda, Pokémon (and I really like those games, really) in terms of experience and fun. God... I wasn't even close. I have played a lot of games, and I have enjoyed most of them. But Okami... Okami is really different. I wouldn't know if I can say that Okami if my favorite videogame, but... Damn. I really loved it. The characters, the story, the gameplay, the japanese ukiyo e and acuarela style, the music... God. I just finished the game. I really cried a at this part. Because of all the memories of the game. Because of the memories of those evening where I was playing Marvel vs Capcom with my brother. Because I finally played one of the best games in all history.
I once used this track for the ending of a three year long D&D campaign. Four players, all Superheroed up and imbued with additional power. They encountered the final boss, who at the moment of it's resurrection ripped it all away from them, it having been the source of their power from the beginning. Their mentor appears to them as time freezes, as he starts to berate them teasingly, and then tells them they don't need that power now, because they cultivated something much greater all the way along. I watched tears roll as I described -EVERYONE- they helped calling out to them to succeed, I got roars of triumph out of the Fighter, I saw the resolution on the Monk and the Wizard, not because it was just a game, but because they had done great things. And at that climax point (2:47) the mentor appealed to them "Only thing standing between you guys and them is That Fuckin Thing.. Ask yourselves right now. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT!?" I have never had emotions surge around my table quite like that before, and it added to the greatest conclusion to my DMing I've had in almost 10 years at that point. Thank you Clover, for giving me the greatest tools I never knew I needed.
this song always paint the same picture for me. a warrior who is in the edge of defeat but the hears voices both living and deceased which give him strength and help make his dream a reality
that's so sweet! my mom and brother just came home one day and were like "look what we got." i had been talking about it a lot at the time, also i constantly watched reviews and such online. i stayed up all night playing it :D
That reminds me of when my parents got Ōkami for me. I had shown a huge interest in it, as it seemed to be right up my alley(which it was). I had heard great things about the game. And then one night when my mom picked me up from my dad's house, she said she had gotten something for me, and low and behold, it was Ōkami HD. I smiled almost all the way back home(At one point I had to stop smiling bc my cheeks were hurting). And I started playing it the next day. I already had super high expectations for the game, and it still exceeded them. Now here I am, about 5 months later, on my third playthrough and unable to stfu about it.
Played this game with my niece whenever we would pick her up from school. Finally finished it today and, still, even 12 years later, this scene still makes me tear up. Though, it didn't help that I was reading out loud the text to her. Still my favorite game of all time.
My bf just started playing Okami (I gave it to him for christmas) and I told him about how this kinda starts out as just a simple flute/string piece but then it builds into an orchestra and he said that kinda related to the game and how you started off really weak but over time you got stronger and then you're an absolute BEAST!
AAAAAAGH~!!!! THE FEELS!!! So awesome how Issun helped spread the word about Amaterasu's contributions and everyone started praying and believing in her, thus giving her tremendous power! I love this game so much!
What makes this music so powerful is the slow evolution of the mood, starting with vibes of sadness and despair to end with a feeling of strength and hope. Truly an underrated game.
This game's gameplay is very similar to The Legend of Zelda franchise and the gibberish voices of the character are very reminiscent to Banjo-Kazooie. Plus, this game's music is so powerfully majestic, and in this case for this song, you all need to know that it's okay for men to cry as there's absolutely nothing necessarily wrong for men to cry, like seriously, there's absolutely no rules saying that men cannot cry.
+Khoi Nguyen Literally *EVERY* piece of music from Okami will make you cry without even playing the game. Like these for example: 1. Sorrowful Goodbye 2. Kaguya's Departure 3. Kamiki's Sorrowful Tradition 4. Cursed Shinshu Field 5. The Celestials Have fun crying :,3
Same! I wanted this game for so long for the PS2, and then I found it at an old BlockBuster store, but I didn't have the money, so my mom pitched in and bought it for me. I've beaten it three times, it's my favourite video game ever, and I can't help playing it without feeling gratitude towards my mom for helping me play something so inspiring!

This made me cry so hard. I love this game so much.
A tear-jerking song...
A truly great song...
A song of happiness...
This song is all of these. Truly poetic.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT!?"
I have never had emotions surge around my table quite like that before, and it added to the greatest conclusion to my DMing I've had in almost 10 years at that point.
Thank you Clover, for giving me the greatest tools I never knew I needed.
this song is just so good It makes you cry with a smile
This is by far, the most beautiful song in this entire game. When I played it, I legit cried.
Okami, this game touches my heart.
God I LOVE THIS GAME, the essence of the traditional Japan, the mistery, the majesty, and of course THE INCREDIBLE SOUNDTRACK! :D
Thank you, now I have the option to cry whenever I want randomly Q_Q.
Used Okami as a paper topic. Thanks for the 'A' Okami!
this song always paint the same picture for me. a warrior who is in the edge of defeat but the hears voices both living and deceased which give him strength and help make his dream a reality
that's so sweet!
my mom and brother just came home one day and were like "look what we got." i had been talking about it a lot at the time, also i constantly watched reviews and such online. i stayed up all night playing it :D
I’m coming back to remember this beautiful soundtrack as I await for the sequel. Imagine how epic the new soundtrack will be!!!
I remember not leaving the Kamiki Festival for 8 days because I didn't want the happiness and partying to go away... Damn it, Yami.
Man I love this...
I shivered when I listen to this song.
1:15
(Why am I'm crying?)
This just proves that music can sing without words.
AAAAAAGH~!!!! THE FEELS!!! So awesome how Issun helped spread the word about Amaterasu's contributions and everyone started praying and believing in her, thus giving her tremendous power! I love this game so much!
3:41 No joke, when I hear this, no matter how many times I have listened to this amazing song, I come to the brink of tears, so much emotion.
Nearly all of us, if not all of us, cried because of this song and Issun's grand speech. That much is certain
What makes this music so powerful is the slow evolution of the mood, starting with vibes of sadness and despair to end with a feeling of strength and hope. Truly an underrated game.
I've got this game for my birthday this year and I finished today. This game is an authentic experience, very beautiful in a lot of senses
dang, i feel sorry for you. i'm on my way to beating it twice- and i still love it madly. its one of those games i'll beat over and over again.
Why is it that whenever I listen to this song, my eyes water? And I have never even played the game.
+Khoi Nguyen Literally *EVERY* piece of music from Okami will make you cry without even playing the game. Like these for example:
1. Sorrowful Goodbye
2. Kaguya's Departure
3. Kamiki's Sorrowful Tradition
4. Cursed Shinshu Field
5. The Celestials
Have fun crying :,3
this song has a hopeful sound! i love it thank you for posting this!
God the music
I'm gonna go play it again tmr
I can't even ;-;
O7
Thank you clover studios for going all out on the masterpiece of a game
Ah...... I have a cold right now, so I was feeling pretty down. But this cheered me up! This is a absolutely beautiful song!
I spent so much time talking to people and doing little side quests for them and it made this scene hit so hard 🥺
im a FF fan myself and i see where your coming from. If only the big companies actually listened to real fans about issues like that.
(i would really like a ff6 rmk but it would most likely lose the pasion that was so great about it)
Invigorating. What I wanna know is who in the right mind would dislike something like this? Unheard of.
So Sad I want to cry :')
i love this song so so so much ! i...it makes me cry every time
on my first time playing through the game, when i came to the part they played this, the music was so fitting, the soft background of reset and the amazing things done by Issun was just too much, i nearly cried
WE NEED A NEW OKAMI GAME ;-;
Most of the times I died in the yami boss fight was because I couldn't stop crying from the part where issun gets everyone together to pray
It's been years and this song still makes me cry
Listening to this is an awesome way to get rid of stress.
this music, along with this cutscene and what happened before= the perfect formula for tears and a heart warming tale of the Sun God Amaterasu
I...I love this so much...
Indeed. This is probably one of my favorite games of all time. I look back on it, and i can not think of anything wrong with it. Just pure, gaming bliss. It's a shame that Clover Studios went out of business.
Just beautiful. The music is just beautiful. That is one of the things that makes a great game. Not graphics. Its music, storyline, and playability.
This song is so sad yet happy at the same time. To me it’s saying even in death your journey isn’t over.
To think Okami Ame she didnt give a damn on her status as a god just wondering around helping others and being called all kind of name and treated like a mud as she is lol and solo battling Yami until she loses all her power in the verge of death still defend things she love which is the people of the land she met , and thanks to issun help she able to recover back her power to fight Yami and ascended back to Heaven.
