@@xDogzYTeven if she died in 2018, we can still wish her to rest in peace + she represented Luxembourg and the author of this commment didn't say that she is Luxembourgish, only that she won representing Luxembourg
*FUN FACTS: beside her victory, France Gall went through such a bad situations during the Eurovision week. First of all, the orchestra booed her when she rehearsed because the musicians didn't liked her song, her boyfriend broke up with her and on top of everything it's rumored that Kathy Kirby who represented United Kingodm and finished in 2nd place went in France's wardarobe and slapped her in the face. Also, France never performed her Eurovision song after she found out about the double meaning of Serge Gainsbourg's lyrics. She was only 17 when she took part at Eurovision!*
I knew about everything (double meaning, the orchestra not liking her song, etc), except for the Kathy Kirby incident, which is probably nothing more than a rumor, but thanks for your information.
One of the best winners EVER!!! everytime the recap of esc winners pops up, this one ALWAYS stands out! The greatness of Serge Gainsbourg's artistry and the brilliance of France Gall's whimsical performance truly capture a iconic song that has stood the test of time and has become a everlasting evergreen!
France Gall and Anne Marie David are the most memorable Winners of Luxembourg!!! France Gall and her Pouppee de Cire, Pouppée de Son was the first song from Eurovision I listened of Eurovision in S.XX and Anne Marie David and her Tu te reconnaitras is my historic favourite of all times of Eurovision!!!❤🇱🇺
This song sounds a lot like the Wedding Peach intro song (it's an anime series from 1995).😮 I just googled it and apparently the intro song is actually based on "Poupée de cire, poupée de son"! Interesting.😊
Fun Fact, Claude François wrote the song Comme d' Habitude, which is the based of My Way's ( Sinatra's Version) after he end up his relationship with France Gall, including the song has reference of their romance.
Most legendary Eurovision-winning artists, pretty sure everyone agrees here Lys Assia (Switzerland 1956) France Gall (Luxembourg 1965) Abba (Sweden 1974) Johnny Logan (Ireland 1980 and 1987) Céline Dion (Switzerland 1988) Dana International (Israel 1998) Alexander Rybak (Norway 2009) Loreen (Sweden 2012 and 2023)
fun fact: she is French and when she won the French took it as a betrayal and her boyfriend at the time Claude François broke up with her. (so idk if it's fun)

So the artist disowned this song because of it lyrics, no French speaking country voted for it as they knew it was insulting young women and taking advantage of the young artist who didn’t see the not so hidden meaning as she was a lovely innocent girl. Shame on you for still broadcasting this song even through you know the artist refused to sing it ever again.
Thankfully most of us are not in the business of trying to censor history to pander to fashionable woke sensibilities. Once France Gall teamed up with Michel Berger she resolved only to sing material written by him. Fortunately at no point did she seek to expunge her earlier performances from the historical record. Michel Berger and Serge Gainsbourg were both musical geniuses.
@@JamieMurphy25 yep I know they won, my point was just those that knew what the double meaning were didn’t vote for it. But thank for the extra knowledge about other countries who also didn’t vote for it.
The most iconic winner of 🇱🇺. Rest in peace, France Gall.

When you know that?
Well, these weren't so much fun for her, but thanks for the facts. I didn't know those
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

If the slapping part is true, I wonder even more why Joost was disqualified and Kathy not
One of the best songs in the history of Eurovision song contest ❤
in the history of the world
Rest in peace, France Gall. Know you played a role in making Eurovision a legendary competition. ❤️
She died in 2018 after her battle with cancer.
One of my favourite winners, amazing song way ahead of its time! RIP France Gall 🙏
She died in 2018 after her battle with cancer.
Finally this beautiful performance with good resolution. I can't wait for the video
Sounds pretty good too! this was rough for a while.
Excitement in her eyes, moves of her head, song's Frenchie style, so every little detail is natural and noble ❤✌️
Poupée De Cire, Poupée De Son walked so every upbeat winner could run.
I’d go back in time just to shout Woooo! at the end of her performance

Jedna z lepszych piosenek, które wygrywały na Eurowizji, szczególnie porównując do tych na początku historii konkursu, jak i tych najnowszych.
Легенда Евровидения ❤

Alexander Rybak (Norway 2009)
Loreen (Sweden 2012 and 2023)

Luxembourg did win that year by the way (juries from the United Kingdom, Portugal, Italy and Yugoslavia also didn't give any points to Luxembourg).
