    Se is the ISTP's best way to facilitate personal development, the thing you said around 14:00 is something I can definitely agree with. Using Se to analyze information, understand it, and then use that understanding on other similar things is my greatest strength. It takes some time to break everything down and figure out how each piece fits together, but once you do that the knowledge never really goes away. Over time, the knowledge just keeps growing into a massive logical and abstract understand of the world around us :)

      Isn't that cool? By learning something, you are forever changed. You can't go back to how you were previous to that. That becomes a piece of a larger whole, which is itself a part of an even larger whole. *brain shoots off into space*

      For that reason I view life like a video game in a sense. By learning the basics of programming, for example, you then unlock the ability to then create mobile apps, webpages, servers, computer programs, etc. (they could be thought of as quests in relation to programming)
      As an extension of that idea, human to human interaction can be thought of as a series of possible responses, like in many games. Like talking to people in Skyrim, one response could lend itself to gaining an item or spell while another could make the person try to kill you haha I use this type of thinking when trying to get my way (job interviews, getting pulled over by cops, persuading someone)
      The only issue with thinking like this is that it can create this feeling of needing to always be progressing through life. Although, it's only an issue when there's really nothing to do and I should just relax and enjoy myself :p that's where mindfulness meditation comes in handy

      +JAYZUPP Great comment. Everything is a pre-requisite quest for something bigger. I love it.
      Also, I often think of a layout of dialog options too! X has a happy face next to it and will be a pleasing response. There's hostile, neutral, etc. I think I default to neutral lol.
      "Always in beta", man. There's always a better version of who we are, but yeah, sometimes it's not through a quick action, but rather meditation and slowing down.

    This series is extremely helpful. I wasn't sure if my boyfriend was an ISTP or not, but now I am. Not that his type matters, I'm just kind of obsessed with the whole subject and I know him well. Thanks!

      Great! Type does matter because it's a map for accelerated growth, connection, and awareness. But yeah... it shouldn't be the reasoning for dating, if that's what you were saying :P
      I'm glad the video helped and I hope you're able to connect to him on a deeper level now :D

      I definitely agree with this, that's why the whole "this type is so rare" thing is annoying. It puts certain types on a sort of pedestal, detracting from the value of other types. I had this issue when learning more about ISTPs, they're made to seem so lame in comparison to the "almighty N types." This in turn lead me to believe I was an INTP/INTJ for a few years. The tests are so confusing, I just "tried on" each type to see how much it resonated within me, not my ego ideal. It's crazy to inspect how all 8 functions are within us, just with varying degrees of proficiency and consciousness

      +JAYZUPP I didn't know about any of the "typism" stuff against S types until I started this channel tbh. It never once crossed my mind that I can remember to think of any type as better or worse than another.
      And "trying on the type" while researching more is definitely something I recommend to people who don't know their type yet. Very good.
      It is! John Beebe has some great books/articles on it.

    Have you experienced anyone or yourself in a Ti Ni unhealthy loop? Whats the characteristics of it?

    • @larapunk3532
      @larapunk3532 3 роки тому

      Not engaging in the real world through "Se", but caging yourself in your mind "Ti+Ni loop", and detaching yourself from anyone else and trying so hard to not get attached for someone "Fe", to prove you're right and the world sucks

    Come to find out I'm a ISTP. The feelings thing, it isn't really the fear of it. It's the whole thing with understanding our own emotions. When someone is in tune with their own emotions then they'll be able to connect easily with others.
    Even when people confide in me in their emotional issues I seem I didn't satisfied what that person needed during the time. So, me personally, can't speak for all ISTP out there but I try to keep way from emotions as much as possible, especially when it is not needed.
    Always thinking, always learning every single day and I mean everyday.

      +Cadaveria Thanks for sharing. It brings more light to ISTP struggles and strengths.
      I've noticed that a lot of times, people just want/need to share their emotional issues. They might expect advice, but most won't listen because they didn't discover the idea themselves. Socratic method ftw.

    • @joezupko
      @joezupko 7 років тому +4

      Yeah when people share their feelings they don't actually want help (IDK why they're sharing then), you just gotta listen and repeat back to them what they said kinda haha it's weird, but works well with feeler types especially. For me (ISTP), I feel like Fe is a very important part of my personality, it's works under the surface it seems like though. The inferior function can be thought of as your main goal in life, you're moving towards Fe as you grow so the only way to truly feel fulfilled is to come to terms with your emotions and learn how they can add great value into your life. I express my emotions with how I dress, debating, flipping random people off that are being idiots, fixing friend's cars/PCs/phones, building websites for people, giving health/life advice, making music, and DJing. It's more service oriented, not face to face help

    • @GeekPsychology
      @GeekPsychology  7 років тому +1

      +JAYZUPP It sounds like you have great awareness and are utilizing Fe well :) As an INFP, I've noticed my intense desire to understand my feelings/values/and beliefs largely comes from a desire to make organizational sense of the world and understand the logical structure of people. This will let me logically predict how people will act and bring me closer to realizing my aspirational Te.

    I don't get ISTP's. And I think it has a lot to do with them being my exact opposite. I've seen ISTP people do videos on youtube of themselves, and they seem too...indifferent.

    • @GeekPsychology
      @GeekPsychology  8 років тому +5

      There's a lot going on under the surface :D But blending with the social environment, explaining values, and emoting in order to strengthen bonds is not necessarily high in most of their preferences. Doesn't mean it's not there though!

    ISTP's are great for my personal growth, being their dual type- ENFJ. But the more I meet them, the more I am left feeling kind of bored by them. Maybe it just takes the right one at the right moment? But I'm thinking there is something unfulfilling about them as a whole. :\

    • @GeekPsychology
      @GeekPsychology  7 років тому +1

      I guess it depends on what your intention is? I would imagine living an independent life based on personal, logical frameworks and physical engagement of the senses is probably not going to be what an ENFJ considers to be a "good life." But that's why it's good for personal growth :P

      @potato psoas haha. This is funny. Pretty true. I work w a couple ENFJs. I'm ISTP. And it's super hard to get along w them. We don't understand e other at all and it's not fun. It's like we're both speaking foreign languages when we talk. Our brain's are clearly working differently. Strange stuff.

    • @Koraxus
      @Koraxus 5 років тому +4

      Feeling is mutual. I can't stand you feely types either. Getting sad because someone looks mean of you, or thinks less socially of you. There is nothing closer to the definition of boring than falling in line so easily like that.
      I would not say ISTP's are boring as a whole. Being easily bored doesn't mean you're boring. We do not talk about subjects we do not dominate because we like to be able to be truly helpful with them. However the interest tend to be quite wide and varied. Feely types tend to think they're experts at any given political or societal issue just because it gets an emotional reaction outta them.
      Not gonna lie, some types like INTJ are at fault at this too.

      @@GeekPsychology i agree....
      I mean lots of people interested in mbti seems to compare their types with other types but hen it will not go as they think, they will generalized everything.... I think its better to really use mbti and all its different components for self understanding self awareness as well as doing it to other people/types.
