AirPod Not Working? Easy Fix

- My right AirPod stopped working for a couple days. The case would not charge or recognize it anymore. It just kept flashing green or orange if it was plugged in. I thought I had to replace it or buy a new set, but I was wrong. The case just needed a quick clean with a Q-Tip cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol to clean up the charging contacts and Voila! It works again! In my opinion, AirPods although a little on the expensive side are a premium/high quality product that can last for years. The secret is to do your best to keep them clean and dry. At the making of this video, I’ve been using them almost daily for a little under 2 years and they’re still working great since cleaning them.
Apologies for the poor sound quality. I didn't realize that the mic would keep switching between the iPhone and AirPods while recording. Good to know for future videos...
Update (after filming video):
After making this video, the right one stopped charging again after a couple weeks. I have a feeling that the contacts for the right AirPod inside the case are worn out and that’s why it’s not connecting. Finally gave up on trying to get it to work and bought some cheaper wireless earbuds on Amazon. Highly recommend not getting the AirPods wet as this may have caused the issue due to wearing them on a very rainy day.
To Reset your AirPods:
Go to Bluetooth settings and tap on ‘forget this device’ (AirPods). Then reset AirPods by holding down button on AirPod case until light turns white. Then proceed with re-discovering + re-pairing AirPods with your iPhone. If it still blinks orange after cleaning inside the case and resetting/re-pairing the AirPods, not much more can be done unfortunately. Beside of luck!
Final Option:
If nothing works to fix it on your own, I'd recommend contacting an Apple advisor to see if they can help. I know it can be a pain waiting on hold, but they're trained and qualified to help.

Thanks for posting this. A good clean usually helps get it working again. This even happens occasionally with AirPod Pros, but after a good clean with Q-Tips and alcohol they work fine.
my left one stops working a lot and for me the only way to fix them is by forgetting the device and holding down the back button until “not your airpods” message comes up. then i just follow the instructions on my phone and then mine both work again.

when i have both in my ear, it keeps cutting out and pausing, the music isn't pausing its the audio if that makes sense. i could only use it with one ear

I have a feeling the contacts in the case are worn out and no longer touching the AirPod points to recharge.
When I hold down the button down it just stays solid white and I’ve held it down for more than 10 min-

I just got air pods for Christmas for 1 day it was working fine and everything the next they both start disconnecting then today the left starts to not work and nothing works
Hey I haven't found any help on my problem, my airpods case won't show on the widget anymore only the airpods ( airpods 2 wireless charging ), when I plug the case to charge it shows the amber light and then fades away and nothing else shows up, when I disconnect them from the charger it happens the exact same thing with the green light, same when i press the reset button, green light slowly fades away and nothing happens, also when i open the lid won't show the green light anymore, have you got any idea what should I do?

It's up to Apple Support. You will likely have to set up an appointment at the Apple Store to bring them in so they can have a look... Be patient with the process. It may take some time.

All you'll have to do is just clean it up a bit.
I wouldn't advise you putting rubbing alcohol into the airpod case or a quetip I did that and it messed up my case really bad and stopped working
Thanks and appreciate your support. But in my case, AirPods are well working with videos. Only the problem is with telephone calls. I’m searching for the solution for that.

You may wanna try a hard reset by long-holding down the button on the case (with AirPods inside) until the led flashes white. Then pair them with your iPhone again. Hope this helps...

Big Guy I’d still contact Apple Support if possible. They will likely provide a 1-year warranty based on your receipt. You may even want to make an appointment at an Apple Store for assistance. Be sure to bring your receipt. Apple is pretty good with providing Support within the warranty period.

Blue Skyz It’s best to use an alcohol as water cannot be used and the alcohol will evaporate leaving zero residue. You could also use isopropyl alcohol. Either are usually available at most drug stores.

Yeah if you’re going to buy AirPods, definitely get AppleCare as there will likely be some issues with them at some point.

None of these steps work and resetting the AirPods doesn’t work i watch everybody’s video, the steps don’t work
FOE Dizzy same for me my left one won’t charge or do anything and it’s frustrating because all these videos say the same thing but it never works
FOE Dizzy Mine worked for a while then crapped out again and hasn’t worked since. To avoid having to replace the whole setup, My recommendation is to buy either a used single AirPod from EBay or a new one from Apple.
Best to contact Apple support. If they are still in the warranty period, you may be able to get a replacement.
