One of the highlights of mine and my kids' lives was being in this video with Matt. I was in the middle of a contentious divorce and we needed to do something fun, so we drove from Indianapolis to Detroit but got delayed by a flat on the way. We literally watched the Detroit dance as we ran toward them from about 100 yards away. Matt was gracious enough to dance with my son afterward. We drove home, then went to Cleveland the next day and made it into the video! Yes, we did almost twenty hours of driving in a 24 hour period but to this day we all agree that it was worth it.
Literally, every time I come back, I remember that for all the things that divide us, we’re all still human and all longing for connection to one another. I only hope we someday realize that we’re more alike than we are different.
You should read about how he got there, he was in the right place at the right time when an african american business man that owned a chewing gum company decided to travel the world.
To this day, it remains the best thing on UA-cam. It speaks to who we all are. Matt showed us all in five simple minutes. I keep coming back to it. It is as brilliant as ever.
Makes me cry every time I watch it. All over the world, people, just real, normal people, trying to live everyday lives, probably sharing most of the same hopes and dreams and worries... in a video like this we can really appreciate everyone else's humanity. But, then, there is so much hatred in this world, and violence and oppression... The beauty of this video casts all our world's ills into sharp relief - a horrible, sad thing it is.
***** Yes, you are correct Hon, "but it is a start" :) The rest of us will have to keep the hope alive, and when everyone finally learns how we are ALL the same, there will come a time when we must respect each other - to survive! Hugs to you...never give up
+Toranosuke I beg you to remember the news will rarely show good, just enough to make you tune in tomorrow to see if it improved. Then they say something worse but give the same amount of good news. The news is a lie and I wish one news network would see it and make wrong. For example the news portrays North (best and or only) Korea as a country where no happiness is where only loyalty and absolute undying at that. but then you see these people dancing, laughing and thats when i realized how bad the news lies (or more accurately hides) I really enjoyed the Iraq teens because it proves (and I already knew this) that not all kids in the middle east are terrorist following blind. but rather they are Teens trying to live there life to the most just as we would. Truly Matt Harding is the person who should be seen as a connector of cultures and god of happiness. Okay maybe not that last part.
+Toranosuke What it makes me sad and cry, really cry...Is anyone having to hide the face in a video just to don´t be under any kind of punishment, just for being dancing in a video.
I can't help but to think about how some of the countries in this vid have changed.. Still, whenever I watch Matt, I see the good of people. Their ability to connect to each other and respect each other. Screw our so called world leaders who only excel in enriching themselves or their ego's. Never forget, our elected leaders serve US, not the other way around. People RULE
11 years later... We need more like this. This video brought tears in my eyes. It feels like no wars, no violence, just pure love and happiness. All those people together reunited by dance and joy, connected to each other all around the world... I hope the world could be just like this. Thank you for this moment.
my dad showed me this video about 8 years ago and I had forgotten all about it until recently. It’s been on my mind nonstop, I’m so glad I was able to find it.
My middle school teacher showed me this in 2012. I still watch it from time to time. A reminder of how nice things were. And how nice they can be again
I watch these videos (2012+2008) at least once a year. I get tears in my eyes every time because it's so nice to see how powerful music and dance can be. No other video on the World Wide Web gives me such happiness and good mood as these videos. Thanks Matt. ❤️
+Lwx 101 Yeah, I watch this whenever I feel down or upset with people. I'm reminded how we're all the same really. Inspiring Matt, thanks for a great video!! Cheers from NC, USA
Yes to visit, no to film. He relates that as he was leaving, his guide told him to go for it; he ran out, had his cameraman set up, and started dancing. One woman was brave enough to join him, and the rest is on film.
I had the opportunity to dance in this video 10 years ago and the memory still makes me smile. I'm the crazy woman in the chicken hat in New Orleans. It was so hot, I remember drinking two full bottles of water afterwards without stopping. But it was worth every bit of sweat. It was so uplifting, like a celebration of everything good in all of us. We felt instantly connected to everyone else in the video and I dream that we will learn ways to feel like that, even when we aren't dancing.
God, we are just the stupidest of countries. If people would travel, see the world, realize we're not that much different, we'd...ahh fuck it. We've just proven that just ain't ever gonna happen
I'm here again🎶💕 The beautiful singer died of leukemia in her 20s. I watch this when the world is in turmoil and believe in love & peace. Life is precious💐Thank you so much for a beautiful video🙏💕🎶
It warms my heart knowing i'm not the only one needing their Matt fix in 2023. He is still bringing love and joy to all around the world. May all of us be surrounded with such love as in these videos, always.
I loved seeing how many recent comments have been made for a ten year old video, Matt continues to bring joy and happiness with all of his previous videos as well.
How many times have I watched this? And every single time it makes me teary. Please, now even more so--more dancing, less warring. Please? We're all just people. We just want peace and happiness.
I completely agree, less warring honestly. People pay less attention to peace and more attention to power these days. Not everyone of course, but I don't think I'm wrong based the fact that there's war right now-
All of humanity dancing together in joy, despite our differences in culture, country, race.. we come together in unity, love and respect for one another. Focusing on what unites us instead of what divides us. A federated world walking towards the future hand in hand, is the only path forward 💙
watched this for the first time when i was in year 4 (3rd grade), and it made me cry. came back to this video 9 years later, and still fills my eyes. i love this video so much
"If someone thinks that peace and love are just a cliche that must have been left behind in the 60's, that's a problem. Peace and love are eternal." John Lennon Wonderful song and video!!! Incredible how you can unite people around the world to dance.
Every year I come back, and I re-watch all the videos of where Matt has danced with the world. And after almost 16 years I am more and more convinced, this is the most beautiful video series on youtube, ever. Thanks Matt, Thanks people around the world. Abruzzo #Italy
There are very few things that make me tear up, but this is one of them. It honestly gives me hope in the future when it seems like everything is falling apart.
This is a poignant piece to watch in the midst of a pandemic. I await the day when people all over the world can dance together in this way again. Sending love and light.
Before I retired as a department supervisor in 2015, I invited the 8 employees that I managed to my office almost every Monday morning to watch this on my computer, with the sound turned way up. There was something with this video that elevated the mood of everyone to begin the week as we partied with coffee & donuts around the screen. I haven't watched it since I left... until now, 7 years later. Oh the fond memories this great video brings back to me! Thank you Matt.
The more the world falls into the dark, the brighter this video will shine. And I desperately want everyone in the world to mingle, dance and sing with each other without conflict and hate
You are one of those wonderful people! I shared this video with a little girl at work today. Code Adam (missing child) was sent out at the mall, and it turns out it was this little girl who’d wandered into my store, and was holding onto my skirt while I was shelving puzzles! She loved this video and just kept replaying it until her dad arrived.
One of the most beautiful videos ever seen on the internet. To remember the beauty of the world, to have faith in humanity, I often watch it and everyone should do it to feel a particular emotion: joy, a smile growing as the video goes on and a touch of tears... but that feels good. Peace&Love from Paris, France.
I know people would say "this video cured my depression" more jokingly. but I am not going to lie now. this video works better than the antidepressants I have to take. thanks to everyone involved into this small piece of happiness!
I come back to it when I need my hope and faith in people restoring. World is so bleak and miserable setting us against each other... this shows we arent that different and people of all cultures can get on
The reason I came to UA-cam today was to find this video to fix a sinking mood. I'm sure Matt had no idea how many people he would help with this video but I'm so glad he made it.
I miss these videos. It was so heart warming to see people all across the globe smiling, dancing, having a good time...we need more 'Where the hell is Matt' types, and less of the global elite types. We humans are so similar, yet our 'leaders' tear us apart.
Came back to us video after nearly 10 years of having forgotten about the channel. I first watched his videos in my high school world history class and this song has stuck with me since then. I still remember every word.
My dad used to play this song, and the video all the time. I was very young, but I still remember it. Even though I asked him to stop it, I’m thankful because this is beautiful. Everyone was so happy back then.
10 years on and i still watch this regularly, so wholesome, it just makes you feel happy and restores faith in humanity, il never tire of this...or the 2006 and 2008 videos.
This video popped up on my Facebook memories from 12 years ago today! Funny thing is that I was living in Wisconsin at the time, and now I’m living in Seattle. The amount of joy and exuberance I first got from seeing this video has always remained. I’m doing well. And I hope you all are, too.
Dec 9, '23. wondering about the children in Rafah in this video, and wether they are still with us. This video was the first footage I ever saw of Gaza, when I was 12. Thanks, Matt.
I am so sad that the singer passed away. You will never be forgotten by your family, friends and everyone else! We want to let you know that your song was featured in UA-cam's happiest video!
PukekoKiwi Before we send it to outer space how about we send it to every leader of every country here on Earth. They are the ones who need to be reminded that we are all one, together, on a single planet. And that our fates are all linked to one another. Matt gets this.
Still my favorite. I post this every 9/11 so everyone can see the beauty of travel and the kindness of the world. ❤️🌎. Matt, what you've done is AWESOME!!
Me too!!! taking it to Heart since 2012~ All these Years~ It has always made my heart leak out of my eyes as I watch & hear Alicia Lemke's Beautiful song & Matt Harding bringing this world ever closer ~ happy, grateful, loving, tears of joy, connection and Knowing ~ We Are All One!!!!!!
I am rewatching this video because I saw your behind-the-scenes videos you did recently. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for having done this piece of art! I took part in the Dresden, Germany segment of this video and am just now bawling my eyes out because it reminds me of the beauty of it all. About the connected-ness of all people, about the good in the world, cherishing a moment and so much more. Thank you! Thank you for letting me be part if something big, for filling people's hearts with joy and for evoking emotions that are so pure right now, I don't even know what to do with them other than to just let them flow through me. After the video in 2012 I took a trip around some of the world for 14months as well (it was my plan for many years)...and I saw it with my own eyes - the beauty. I am not a people person, but I connected with total strangers (aborigines, homeless people, a mother with her son, other travellers of course, a native child who caught me a coconut from a tree...) in all kinds of situations (on the bus/train, sitting on the street because there was a wifi spot, in the kitchen of a guesthouse...) and they were always kind, loving and curious. What I'm trying to say is: if you are open/curious about the world, the world will open up to you and show you its beauty. Yes, there are also terrible things still out there and nobody should belittle them, but at the same time there IS also very good stuff out there!
Loved it when I first watched "Where the hell is Matt 2006" and loved it again 18 years later - only yesterday, when I discovered "Where the hell is Matt 2012" - Granada, Spain
It was a lot of fun to dance with the huge group! I’m a little flash of purple on the far right in Denver. We had to do a careful setup since vandals had tagged the legs of the Dancing Aliens the night before
I love it. Despite the physical differences in people around the world, in the end, we are the same ... human beings, with the same ability to feel and be kind to each other. I still don't lose hope in humanity
Bashurverse Yeah you can do it regardless of how rich you are! Can always stay in budget accommodations and backpack! It can be done! Live your dream! =)
maaaaan if traveling and dancing truly translate into happiness..Matt must be the happiest person in the world.. I've been watching his videos since his first one and it's always soooooo fucking awesome to watch.. and every new video brings more and more people together.. is just pure joy and happiness
@@jeremyvallauri - Same Here! Tears were flowing! Happy Tears that there is still hope in the World! Such an Uplifting Video, Music, Dancing & Lyrics! ❤
I am a substitute elementary teacher in Canada and I have shown these videos to many of the elementary classes I have taught on themes of "togetherness", "kindness", etc in multiple schools, I still get requests to show it again. Very well done beautiful and emotional pieces. Even years later thanks for these Matt.
+Matthew Henry I'm 53 and each time I watch either this one or the 2008 one the same happens to me... my eleven year old son knows this, we watch it from time to time and each time he asks me 'are you going to start crying ?'
I come back to hear this song and see the world in happiness.. thank you for your travels.. it brings tears at times.. the trumpet is brilliant.. it will be forever in my ❤️
That makes me happy to hear. I fought for that trumpet. We’d finished the song, but we had a guy come in to add that part, and it was the missing piece.
I discovered this video a few years back. Brought tears to my eyes thinking that maybe just maybe we could set aside our differences. Still brings a tear to my eyes and yet we are but because we have drifted further apart. All we can do is keep dancing, praying and hoping..
10 years ago I couldn't afford a holiday. I saw this video and promised myself when I have the means I will take a long haul trip and play this song. In 2019 I was able to take a long haul trip. On an A380 I played this song, thankful of all the beautiful things I have seen. A few weeks ago I went back to the place that I visited in 2019. At night on a beach for 6 hours I contemplated what have happened between 2019 and 2022, my progress, my aspirations and things that have changed in that place. I made a new promise for myself. Periodically I will visit that same beach, contemplate how my life has changed, and how the beach has changed. Thank you Matt.
Almost 2022 and this still fills me with a sense of wonder and inspires me to follow my dreams. From one slightly emotional 22 yo, I hope everyone who sees this takes on 2022 with passion, will and determination. 🥰 See you somewhere ;)
Does anyone else come back here just to feel a little hope again?
All the time, brother!
Def. Hun....see my comment for u in my comment about this VIDEO 😚💋🙏🙏
I did! I’m on the road myself and I’m just crying at my hotel atm. This video is so beautiful and it gives so much hope. This is what we all need.
Yes. First saw this in 2012 and I watch it again sometimes. Makes me cry every time.

Still makes me cry in 2023, so beautiful.
Because we still need this

Yep
For sure
even 2022

In 2024 this brings tears to my eyes. A few of these places have really suffered in the years since this video was made
It's 2024 and this is still as fresh and uplifting as it was when it was uploaded over eleven years ago.
I think the world needs Matt once again, more than ever.
I am back here again, and the feeling is the same as the first time. Hard to believe this was made 11 years ago! Timeless!
Yup, needed a pick me up 😊

This video popped up on my Facebook memories from 12 years ago today! Funny thing is that I was living in Wisconsin at the time, and now I’m living in Seattle. The amount of joy and exuberance I first got from seeing this video has always remained. I’m doing well. And I hope you all are, too.
So who else is just the right level of drunk that they're watching heartwarming old youtube videos and welling up a little?
Yeaaaa
Also, plz share more my dude
🤣🤣
Me.
I well up every time I watch this, but, I've never had any alcohol.
Dec 9, '23. wondering about the children in Rafah in this video, and wether they are still with us. This video was the first footage I ever saw of Gaza, when I was 12. Thanks, Matt.
I wondered this too. Made my heart heavy knowing that these kids went from dancing and happy to war and the destruction of their home
Same
It was 12 years ago…
I am so sad that the singer passed away.
You will never be forgotten by your family, friends and everyone else! We want to let you know that your song was featured in UA-cam's happiest video!
If I could send 1 video to space for extraterrestrial life to find, i want it to be this.
PukekoKiwi 2 girls 1 cup man but your idea is probably better
AncientDPGz really bruh 😂
That's a really lovely thought mate. X
I agree. The video carries the true spirit of humankind on our pale blue dot.
PukekoKiwi Before we send it to outer space how about we send it to every leader of every country here on Earth. They are the ones who need to be reminded that we are all one, together, on a single planet. And that our fates are all linked to one another. Matt gets this.
The singer- Alicia Lemke passed away in August 2015. She was battling Leukaemia. The world lost a great singer and song writer.
Oh my God, I am so sorry to hear that! I am crushed!!!
So sorry to hear this. What gifts she has left us.
Oh I am so very sorry to hear this!! She has certainly left an indelible light in this world that sorely needs it!! Shine on Alicia from Above
I am so sorry ! What a beautiful voice! God Bless Her.
Loved her voice, such a precious and wonderful song. So sad to hear this news. I hate and detest cancer..:-(
When I am feeling down, this video always works to cheer me up. Thank you.
Crazy how time flies. I must have been watching this for 11 years now.
Still one of my favourite video of all time from UA-cam. Love this!
Still my favorite. I post this every 9/11 so everyone can see the beauty of travel and the kindness of the world. ❤️🌎. Matt, what you've done is AWESOME!!
This honestly comes close to bringing me to tears every time. Simply beautiful. Hope for unity!
Me too!!! taking it to Heart since 2012~ All these Years~ It has always made my heart leak out of my eyes as I watch & hear Alicia Lemke's Beautiful song & Matt Harding bringing this world ever closer ~ happy, grateful, loving, tears of joy, connection and Knowing ~ We Are All One!!!!!!
Where the Hell is Matt in 2022?? :) We want another version please!
I keep coming back to this video. One or best all time ever recorded
It was a lot of fun to dance with the huge group!
I’m a little flash of purple on the far right in Denver. We had to do a careful setup since vandals had tagged the legs of the Dancing Aliens the night before
I've seen this video probably 10 times, but every time I watch it again after a break I have tears of joy.
Saved this video 9 years ago😭 and is still makes me cry in 2022. ❤
Me too.
me too
i hope matt's still dancing! seeing how folks groove around the world always makes me smile.
I cry every time I watch it. It makes me feel happy, but so sad that Alicia Lemke, the singer died so young.
Still loving this 12 years later! Makes me cry every time I watch it.
I love it.
Despite the physical differences in people around the world, in the end, we are the same ... human beings, with the same ability to feel and be kind to each other.
I still don't lose hope in humanity
True, also bad people are much less than good people.
Why am I crying!? What's happening to me??
+Jessica Barboza Damn ninja's are cutting the onions... Uhh! the feeeelsss
+Jessica Barboza Maybe you, like me, are awakening to the fact that we are all shining facets of the same diamond. Namaste.
+Jessica Barboza Me, too!
Same thing here. How beautiful is the world and its peoples and how stupid is war and hate.
Maybe the deep feelings this video elicits are a clue that we're beginning to remember that ultimately we're all from the same hometown.
I come back to this video every once in while as a tradition
2008 was the first Matt's video, that stole my heart. I took part in this one (Bratislava, Slovakia), it was awesome!
Most beautiful video on youtube.
You're right!
My life goal one day.
Go for it xD
Bashurverse Good luck with that Bashur
***** Yeah, unless you are poor as hell..

Bashurverse Yeah you can do it regardless of how rich you are! Can always stay in budget accommodations and backpack! It can be done! Live your dream! =)
RIP Alicia Lemke. She is the singer of this video
She had such a lovely voice.
Whenever I am down or sad I watch this (and the other Matt videos) and feel instantly better. So good, so wonderful. Thank you!

Soooooo not the only one

I am a substitute elementary teacher in Canada and I have shown these videos to many of the elementary classes I have taught on themes of "togetherness", "kindness", etc in multiple schools, I still get requests to show it again. Very well done beautiful and emotional pieces. Even years later thanks for these Matt.
I'm crying manly tears, and I'm not ashamed.
Harly is bae Please enlighten me on how I am shameful. :)
Harly is bae cheers m9
+Matthew Henry this video and soundtrack is truly that powerful. choked me up too
+Matthew Henry I'm 53 and each time I watch either this one or the 2008 one the same happens to me... my eleven year old son knows this, we watch it from time to time and each time he asks me 'are you going to start crying ?'
damn, me too ;)
I come back to hear this song and see the world in happiness.. thank you for your travels.. it brings tears at times.. the trumpet is brilliant.. it will be forever in my ❤️
That makes me happy to hear. I fought for that trumpet. We’d finished the song, but we had a guy come in to add that part, and it was the missing piece.
I come back every now and again for a lift of spirit. Thx Matt
Kathy SC
Watching this never gets old! ❤ Love the music, love the intention of it and love the dancing by all. Thanks for making and sharing it!!
This always makes me cry. People can always be kind.
Thank you Matt.
damn thats beautiful man u made my day
Having a rough day, so you decided to come back here to remember the world is pretty great?
Yeah, me too.
I have decided to watch "This" regularly!!! So Uplifting and gives my "Spirit" true Hope!!!
wow...same here...
Almost 2022 and this still fills me with a sense of wonder and inspires me to follow my dreams. From one slightly emotional 22 yo, I hope everyone who sees this takes on 2022 with passion, will and determination. 🥰 See you somewhere ;)
Matt is keeping alive the dream of harmony and unity for mankind! God bless him in every language!
My most favorite video ever. The world needs more Matt! I cry too!!! What has happened to our world?
That's the question. What has happened to our world?
