I understand why you use initials when talking about stores and websites. It's easy! However, not all stores are national and some folks who are new to your channel don't know what the initials stand for. Which in turn makes it difficult locate additional photos and such. So could you please post in your comments, make a glossary or figure some other way to share the info? Like say the full name perhaps?

I love the idea of the paint. Not sure where you guys are from but down here south in Houston Texas it’s hard to sale. I’ve made the table asked for 100 and they counter with 25. Then they break out with the line I always here “ can I take a picture of it , I can build it myself”
So I just build for me.

Yeah, people like to haggle,.. that's why I always put a little bit higher price than I'm willing to take on everything, so people feel like they got themselves a deal.
Just recently found your channel and am learning a lot. Thank you for giving this 66 year old lunch lady the confidence to jump in and Do It!. Just finished the multi -tiered picket planter that was a deep dive into reacquainting myself with all my tools! I’m here in New York on Long Island where prices are still almost double at my local lumber store compared to yours.. I suppose I could get a better price at the big box store but it’s miles away. All in all the experience I’m getting and shear enjoyment of this craft is well worth it. Thank you Matthew Peech.

For the hanging signs - if you do craft shows, have the sign boards loose at a set price each and let people select their own, pay for it and your helper can run the rope. Pickup later in the day.

Thanks for another great video. I like how you dont blow smoke up our ass by telling us that if it sells for $400 on PB then we can get $350 for ours. You always give us a realistic price for our piece and still a great profit.
There's ways to upsell many projects into crazy prices, but it's better price in that sweet spot where people keep buying them, but you're not making slave wages.
Caught this video today and 5 minutes later started on the picnic table with lumber I had laying around...adjusted to make it smaller. Great project

Thanks Mat, knew a guy back in the day built treated playgrounds, his kids were almost to old for a playground so he didn't use treated lumber, just plain pine, lasted over 10 years, just cut bottom 3 inches off and was good , gave it away. Treated isn't always better, especially for the kiddos.

Hi Matt, you make such nice and well explained videos. Once a person believes they can do something, they most likely can do it and if they fail, well, what is lost? They will gain experience and then can move on:) I taught sewing for almost fifty years and inspiring creativity was my main goal. I do little woodworking projects now and then (with minimal tools), and really like your videos. When I grew up girls weren't allowed to take woodworking although I wanted to.

@@MatthewPeechWoodworking there will be plus we have a new grandbaby that can enjoy it later, but it seems like an easy build that can be scaled up, and we've priced the larger ones and they are ranging at $1500 so will still work into the tenth of the cost idea.

I would use my dowels myself. These aren’t thick enough to try to build them that strong unless you’re using hardwood; then get crazy.

@matthewpeechwoodworking with the knowledge that you are helping people, some with minimal experience, try to turn a profit using minimal materials, it would be helpful if while you’re cutting the pieces you would mention that the three 2x6s only works if you cut them in a certain order, you said cut the legs, then cut the the 5 35.75in pieces…. So I did, and after I cut all 4 legs from one 2x6 I realized it was impossible to get 5@35.75in from the remaining 2 boards. I appreciate what you do, I have been inspired by you. This was my first real attempt at trying one of your projects. I’ve learned from this first mistake to always plan all cuts before cutting starts. Anyway I appreciate the inspiration, we have had an extremely rough few years and I truly am grateful to find your channel, we are hoping that with your ideas, our ideas, God’s help and our hard work we can support our family again. Thank you Matthew, you have no idea how much it means to us that you keep doing videos like these!

To those that are afraid of the jigsaw project: The design is basically an "F" with a "C" shape angled through the top horizontal line of the "F" through the bottom horizontal line of the "F". Then they just made a fancy hook cut through the horizontal lines that stuck out from the "C" shape. But you can just make an angle cut and it will still look cool.

Hey Matthew, I'm curious as to why you used 2" X 6" for the legs? I've made quite a few of these and used 2' X 4". Keeps the cost even lower. Back in the day, I used cedar, now, I pick through the spruce and pick out the nice ones.

My local lows all this material is $40 today. Crazy how much wood cost these days. If they sell at 100 still good money. But need to sell for 100 without paint.

Hay there, Matthew. I'm not sure if I did something wrong. I got 3 2x6x8 for the sets and top of the picnic table, and it wasn't enough wood. Used one for legs, then I oily got four more for sets and top and needed five.
I WAS THINKING THIS WAS A GIANT CHICKEN FEED TABLE BUILD AT FIRST, LOL

hey matt I love your videos I do wish you would find a way to put more of the size breakdown in here somewhere im a 56 year old ex truck driver i spent over 30 years on the road now im disabled i spend most of my time in a wheelchair i can still walk some but anyway the government doesn't pay real good so I have to watch my money but I love woodworking and I build almost every day but I can't really afford $40 or $50 for one set of plans I realize you have to make a living to and this is just to make me a little on the side but if you could help I would really appreciate it

How would you go about making a picnic table like that that's designed to be able to take apart and put back together? Like, what kind of screws/nuts/bolts/etc would you recommend for that sort of fastening? I'd like to make those picnic tables but I want to be able to break them down so they can fit into a sedan trunk or backseat.
Treated wood for a picnic table won't hurt anything except your budget. Just soak the ground contact points with used motor oil aka poor man's creosote. (which is what was used to treat the old barns you were referring to)

@@richardmccann4815incorrect, I seal my end grain with epoxy and I’ve used the flex seal stuff to. It doesn’t trap water and cause rot. Nice theory but untrue. Not the only point of moisture movement. But the main point of moisture absorption so seal that shit off. It’s fine
For the legs, is the length 22 and 5/16th from long point to short point? Or are you measuring diagonally across the board from long to long?
Built many a kids picnic tables about 5 years ago, sold quite a few! Made ours out of 1x material, still have the 2 I built for my granddaughters. We stained or painted them, also put decals of St. Cardinals or Blues on them and other teams or whatever they wanted for extra $! Your idea with 2x4 and 2x6s looks like a little quicker build!! Might have to make some if I get time in between our furniture orders. Enjoy the videos.
Since the interior of the outdoor storage bins is very visible, the horizontal boards beg to be attached with a biscuit joiner! Nothing wrong with pocket holes if you don't have a biscuit jointer though....

So I just made the picnic bench to exact size in the video, looks great, but I think it’s too small? I’m not sure I don’t have kids. I make 6’ and 8’ tables figured I’d give this a whirl. Seems like it should be a tad taller and wider.

Barns were treated with creosote, a treatment that is now banned. I've been used some reclaimed cedar that came from a barn a family member tore out. The garage smells like tar for a while after I mill some of that down.
Are heat treated pallets still good to use if the product might potentially come in contact with food? Like table or serving tray? I just picked up 2 heat treated pallets from a carpet store, so if it was mainly used to move carpet it shouldn’t have contamination from chemicals or food right?
