Be Warned!!: Matthew is one of those rare individuals that can inspire you into wanting to go build or make something you never dreamed possible. He is also capable of getting you to snort your coffee (or whatever you may be drinking) through your nose with such force that an Olympic judging panel would give you a perfect score or 10! (Cue Wilson). Thanks Matthew!! Now where’s that cleaning rag . . .
😂😂😂 💯
This is literally what I came here to post. Matthew is a wonderful person and the reason I started woodworking.
So well written! Also, so true. 😂
Absolute fact.
😃
Matthew is one of the best wood teachers I watch… and I’ve seen hundreds of them, Matt thank you for truly caring about your followers ! Love you brother
First thing that popped into my mind with the 4x4 was thats a big crayon. 😂
Excellent idea! Paint it up like a crayon! Would have to be longer for proportion.
I was thinking about knocking off the corner edges on my table saw and painting it up like a No. 2 pencil.
@@woodsman105 another good idea. You could make it to be an outdoor decor piece.
I am completely dyslexic when it comes to angles so woodworking, as much as I enjoy it, can be a challenge for me 😢😂. Seeing how simple a mitered bevel can be was eye opening. Thanks!
I'm not glad that you have that but I am glad to know I'm not alone 😂
You can do it!
he has risen
And Christ is King 👑
If you're new here, subscribe to this guy! He's worth it!!
Thank you!
Hold on..let me get another cup of coffee😁
When you're making the little arches for the ends of the tiny boxes, make it on a bigger piece of wood so the jigsaw-cut is in the middle of the board. Now you've got 2 ends for one jigsaw cut. Do one set of boxes with an arch going up and one set with it going down. Get double the end-pieces for the same work
Drop the jigsaw, just use a big paddle bit or hole saw and then saw the board in the middle making both legs. Sand the two legs and you're DONE!
The egg holder you made would look great as a votive holder
As a crazy chicken person, I can attest to chicken people being kinda crazy, and will buy anything chicken themed. Egg holders, chicknic tables, whatever. We love our chickens. 😂
I do appreciate what you said at the end. I am wanting to do things like this, make smalls as a little hobby project thing. I don't necessarily have the intention to sell, I just want to learn something new. Try things out and, if I make a buck out of it, all the better. However, my intentions are just to learn. I tried talking to family who have the tools I would like to use until I can afford my own, but I get somewhat knocked down a peg and discouraged. I got a lot of pallet wood that I broke down and have all these plans for... and I haven't made anything with them since they questioned the first thing I made. I need to just throw their opinions aside and just keep doing it for me.
Procrastinating is the Dream killer, don’t let others steal your dreams and aspirations unless you give it to them to steal. The greatest satisfaction is when you make it all by yourself. I’ve been a carpenter and take great satisfaction in all my projects I planned. Just go for it as wood not used can rot so can your dreams set aside.
I'm a 60 year old woman and never worked with wood or made anything until a couple years ago. Everything I've made so far has been very rustic and simple designs with pallet wood. Most things sell eventually 😂 and some things I give away 😊. I have limited tools so I can't do some of the things he talks about here. But maybe some day. Do not let others keep you from trying and learning.
Don't tell anyone what you're going to do, wait until you did it and THEN tell them what you DID! It's hard to get discouraged when you make the mistakes you make - and you will make mistakes if you do anything - and you can throw it away and try again or rework the piece that has the mistake and possibly make something entirely different which opens your eyes to creativity. Practice makes perfect but practice also makes mistakes, don't forget that.
This is just a fantastic human! Mathew is the reason I started woodworking..well getting the confidence to actually trying to sell my stuff. Well I started wood working about 15 months ago. Tried to sell a bunch of stuff. Got laughed at on multiple occasions, some people said it looked like I make my stuff out of scrap. Because of Mathew I kept trying,! Long and behold I finally built something people really like and I'm making a very nice second income! Sold 15 in 2 weeks! I'm on top of the world someone actually likes something I built enough to buy it. So wife's happier I'm happier lmao And it's all because of you brother! Ok u getting big now so I hope u get around to seeing this comment it's from the heart! Keep on keeping on brother,!
Happy Easter 🐣 hope you and yours have a Blessed Sunday
Peech you continue to be a Peach. Keep fighting the good fight bud.
Will do!
Love and enjoy your videos on "smalls" and the other less complicated items. You do a great job of making what appears complicated into easy projects. Appreciate you and your channel 🙏 ❤️.
Happy Easter!
Same to you!
I really appreciate your videos they're very inspiring I lost my job 4 months ago and now it's hard for me to get a job again because I was affiliated with the Union but I have a lot of experience with woodwork I have a lot of tools so watching your videos motivates me and utilizes my tools
You are a very positive person. You're right about others questioning you, but as you said believe in yourself!!! Have a great day!!!
I enjoy watching your videos. You are honest and respectful, most important you don’t use cuss word. I’ve seen other videos similar to your show and that person says a lot of cuss words. That turns me off.
Much love brother loved the vid 🫡
I'm just getting started on woodworking. I saw your videos were impressed with your project, too, and make money on different projects made. So I have been watching for a while. So, thanks for each video you put out.
For the "bench", use screws for the initial assembly and glue up. Back them out and drill for a contrasting dowel for final assembly before finish. Do this for all the screws as then you can claim "all hand joined - no metal fasteners".
Mattie, you ROCK my friend! Thanks for the extra words at the end! Needed that today!!!
Dude, I loved your outro. Thank you.
Make a few benches myself. But I always put a cross member from one pair of legs to the other.just for added strength
I love the egg holder. I think I'll build one to hold Fabergé egg collection 🤣
You gave me inspiration for a stackable egg holder!
Awesome!
I got 4×4 extra wood I found out behind my shed. Thanks for the idea.
Perfect!
I can usually figure most things out, but the one thing that usually stops me is finishing(stain/paint). I think once I do a project that would be easy to finish then I'd get more confidence in doing more. I am in the process of looking to make $$ with wood and finding your channel has given me some hope about projects! Thanks!
If I were building that first bench I''d probably create a stringer between the braces. Because honestly, I wouldn't sit on that bench as they built it. Without something to tie the legs together it will eventually end badly. Only exception would be if you used thicker very hard wood that doesn't check much for the top and the legs were mortised all the way through. (which is something they actually used to do back in the old times)
Thanks for the burst of inspiration and self-confidence pep talk!
of course!
I love benches too. I've built more benches than anything else. Lots of styles.
The little boxes look intriguing. I spent yesterday sorting and rearranging all my scrap wood. Lots of it will be perfect for this!! A cute decal on the end would be perfect!! Happy Easter to you and yours!!
Thanks
How stable are those benches going to be without any kind of stretcher or cross bracing to prevent racking? Built how they are they seem like they would be more decorative than useful.
Awesome Bro!! Thanks
Fantastic message at the end brother! I have a few boards that didn't sell. Thinking I may need to make them egg holders.
Go for it!
Love watching your videos!! Keep them coming!! I am just a beginner and have alot of pallets to use !!
Thank you! Will do!
Agree!! 100%, thanks fir your videos
my mother had bench that look somewhat the bench you are showing she used it as ironing board
Your a awesome dude Mathew. I've learned so much from you...
Glad to hear it!
Love these videos! Happy Easter!😊
Thx for sharing enjoyed it Keep building
Thanks Matthew all I need is equipment to work with
Great assortment this week! Do you think that first bench would be sturdy enough, even with dowels, to support a 250lb guy? Seems a little sketchy.
Cool shirt!!
Always awesome content Matthew.
Thank you.
I have just recently found your UA-cam channel. Thank you for sharing your videos. I am just starting to get into woodworking and I have learned so much from your videos.
Thank you for your time and knowledge!
Always enjoy your videos
I appreciate that
Another great video with awesome content!! Happy Easter Matt.
Thanks Matthew another great vid.
Love watching your videos!! Have alot of pallets to use up!! Can't wait to try them out!! Have a Blessed Easter!!
Thank you Mathew
Got an idea for a t shirt for you. What about take the logo that is at the beginning of you videos. The one with a saw blade that has your picture in the middle and your name across it. Can’t really make out the writing around the top . This on the back and on the front put ( I CAN BUILD THIS). I think this would be really a good seller. I personally would buy at least two. I really enjoy watching your videos and more than once. If you decide to do one like this. Please let me know so I can get me a couple. Thanks and have a nice day.
I look forward to your videos each week. Thx for doing what you do ❤
Wow great tips Mathew Thank you so much for sharing
I love when you challenge and inspire us. Happy Easter to you and the family.
Thanks Matt!!

Love your videos!
Happy Easter! Thanks for the video!
Happy Easter. Thank you for watching.
Thanks for another great video. My concern when building a bench is making sure the legs are secure. I wouldnt want them to break or come lose when someone is sitting on it. How would you secure the legs on the benches you just showed? thanks
Great job on the Video Brother. Happy Easter.
This coming weekend i will be at the local home and garden show. I'll be marketing Matthew's original obelisk, the new obelisk and the wall jenga game. I called the block game, Kugenga, the Swahili word "to build". It's where Hasbro got the name jenga. I also have some Matthew inspired products. I forgot, i will also have some of the chevron trees in 2 sizes. We'll see what sells.
How did you get on?
@@damianluby8973 will let you know. The show is the 5th and 6th.
@@damianluby8973 the crowd was sparse and elderly. The original obelisk got the most interest. The new obelisk got slightly less. The kujenga game got a look as did the chevron trees. I may get some obelisk sales from people who requested cards but I'm not holding my breath. I made my obelisks from red cedar. As an old lady I like that cedar is so much lighter than pine.
The chevron trees seem to be a consistent seller. I divide the pieces into 3 groups and stain 1 group with black walnut, 1 group golden oak and 1 group natural. This seems to be a popular color combo.
Man I learn so much from him!!! Please keep up the great helpful tips. The whole video is awesome
So, benches be crazy?
I'm subscribed. Thanks for your shares Mr. P. I wish your channel tons of growth.
Your buoy-nautical-coastal/beachy thing actually looks better than the ones pictured in that website, lol. Anyways, subscribed.... Cheers from Florida!
Another awesome video !!!!!
EOS - end of story .
I needed this...thank you! Mission accomplished.
You're so welcome!
As always I love you videos. I’m actually getting ready to build myself another shop. I’ve been out of my wood working for 3 years and I have missed it. Shop should be done sometime in May. I’m excited. Happy Easter my friend

I get great information and a want to do something from you . Great teacher and motivation
This is the first video I have seen by you and am subscribing! I REALLY needed to hear your words in the outro. Thank you for sharing!
Welcome! Thanks for the support
I been loving your videos thank you. I was recently told not to use wood pallets because they could have been sprayed with a harmful chemical...can you shed some light on this?
How to watch a Matt Peech video:
1: click like button
2: consume video
🤣
For that "nautical decoration" (painted 4x4 w/ rope), it would be awesome if you could figure out how to cut another, tighter angle on the top to make it look even more like a bottle. All I see when I look at that decoration is an abstract representation of decorative bottle and that makes me want it to look even more like that.
the bench angles! can they be done with a circ. saw? great vids. man! keepem comin!
thanks
You're welcome!
I'm watching a lot of your videos today cause I'm off work for a week planning on spending most of the time in the shop and I need ideas
Have fun!
good
Matthew: "I like Big Bench and I can not lie..."
I would absolutely LOVE to get my hands on the mad hatter dresser plans! Do you have plans? If so. How can get them? That is such an amazing build!
Great videos! Thanks! Question: Are your glasses also safety glasses?
I've looked at these types of benches recently because my daughter & SIL recently moved into a bigger apartment & she has had a list of wants from Momma. Lol She wants a bench near her entrance door where she can sit, take off her shoes & place them underneath. I've looked at bench like the ones you're showing & after thinking I can build that, I thought I could build it better. To me, a cross brace/shelf attached the the cross brace of the legs would make it more stable. Cedar pickets & 2x2x8s are $1.99 each at a Surplus place I shop. So, I thought, why not make the seat and "shelf/cross brace" out of the pickets? She's going to want it painted regardless of what I use, so I could make one about 35" long by 11" wide & about 24" tall with the shelf/brace a couple of ripped fence boards to fit across the the center of the legs. I could make it for under $10. 😊
