Radars use all kinds of wavelengths. Ground usually being longer. They all have their pros and cons. All radio is non-ionizing. Microwave just means you’re in the GHz range. You’re 2.4Ghz WiFi and Bluetooth devices operate at the same frequency as a food microwave. That’s why the FCC made it a license free frequency, because it’s so dirty. The F-35 introduced millimeter radar that can basically see the shape of its contacts. 3 things you can do with radar is reflect, absorb, and refract. Basically any metal reflects like a mirror. Use that to send it in another direction. You can absorb with loop antennas of the right length and a load. Probably the most difficult unless you use a laser etched fractal pattern foil wrap on top of an insulator. Refract can be done with jagged metal dust from copper, silver, or gold. Then somehow align it where all the pointiest bits are facing out. That’s like comparing a mirror to a sheet of paper in a perfect application. Probably more like fog on a mirror. That’s all just theory from my basic radio spectrum knowledge.
AEROSPACE ENGINEER HERE: Love it. Never seen your channel before but this is fabulous. I do have 1 question which I am certain you have an answer for but it wasn't mentioned in your video. How did you deal with the C.of.G issue from moving the engine from the nose to the aft? Its Ok if you simply fudged it at this point, but its the sort of thing you should point out. FYI - I have private pilots license and YES I did a significant amount of my training in C172s. If you take "fit for purpose" as the prime criteria then the C172 is arguably one of the finest engineering designs ever and that's across all fields. So we are clear in this context "fit for purpose" means _"What is the intent of this design? As in what is it meant to do and how is it meant to be used and can it be maintained to keep doing that task?"_
The mid engine shifting the C of G is going to make the plane fly at its cruising speeds more level. (Cessna’s sort of fly with their nose in the air so to speak.) On planes like the P-63 that had mid engine designs, but normal prop locations, this caused them to be ass heavy and fly oddly, but on a plane where the thrust is now coming from behind the center of gravity/ is right at it, this stealth Cessna should realistically be quite agile. Forgot to add. This plane would fill a sort of niche search and rescue role. The search part specifically. Though I could see this being used in combination with a Fulton recovery system to yoink people up off the ground.

At 21:13 i got an ad for gun owner insurance that used the exact song you were using there. I almost thought you were going on a random rant about gun laws for a second
Maybe someone already has mentioned this, but stealth/LO aircraft are designed without any 90° angles. When you look at two mirrors at 90° to each other, you will always see yourself. Same goes for radar. This includes any flaps, ailerons, intakes, stabilizers, etc. Radar electrifies the metal skin of planes and even trailing edges will cause reflections. If you see this, tips for next time!
What's funny about stealth is there's a problem in the composite boat world of accidently making boats too stealthy. So there's cheap radar reflectors in the boating world. I always find that funny.
Keep in mind that secondary reflection and edge wave diffraction contribute a lot to radar return. A reverse teardrop is actually quite unstealthy because the radar hugs the surface and then emits directly back from the point for example, basically turning it into an antenna.
First video of yours I’ve seen! This is super neat and now I wanna play this game lol. Also you should do a video about the Horton 229 and how its materials and shaping would have worked against ww2 era radar! From what I understand it wasn’t meant to be a stealth aircraft, but between the engine location, flying wing airframe, and wood construction, with iron oxide based paint pigments, it would have been surprisingly stealthy!
Ig another way to explain the use of dB is that dB is a multiplier if one radar throws a bunch of energy and gets a 10th back, it will get a 10th of whatever energy (simplifying obv) is sent. So dB can work like a percentage of what energy will return (with a better ability to stay readable at VERY low percentages)

Wait wait wait…. The Cessna produces as much thrust as your average lead climber’s fall generates what the heck
So will you be putting a picture of Bo in all of your empire of bo war planes yea know to remind the pilots what they are fighting for
What's funny about stealth is there's a problem in the composite boat world of accidently making boats too stealthy. So there's cheap radar reflectors in the boating world.
I always find that funny.
Still better than the SU-57
Cool video !
Your narration made my day 😂
(My afternoon at least)
U might have motivated me to try flyout in an unknow future :)
Don’t care what place I’m in
All I know is that I shouldn’t be up rn 😂😭
Oh my god this is the channel for me. You are incredible. The topic? Immaculate
This is getting out of hand
you should license that idea so hard... god damn this little nightingale ass mosquito recon goes so hard
0:54 i feel like this is an inside joke and i don’t get it so thats not fair and im gonna have to report your channel
Oh damn I'm finally gonna have to drop Simpleplanes and try to learn how Flyout works, I didn't realise you could do stuff as cool as this video
I soloed in a 172 which, after 10 hours in a 152 and minus the extra 180#, climbed like a homesick angel and floated FOREVER on that first approach.
You want to crash and hope none to find you. 😂😂😂
Stealth mode activated.
You’ve tickled my brain. This may be the dumbest but the most interesting plane concept I’ve laid eyes on
0:57 Messier 87, the cigar galaxy :3
9:40 wowowowowowo
You telling me imma f*** the radar up if I’m leaving my microwave running open and in radar direction?😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
“Are you flying a f%cking mosquito?” Had me on the floor😭
This was wholly interesting.
I would love to see this treatment on the A-10 airframe.
Can only imagine how that’s going to look like.
Good luck covering those engines 😅
loved your take on this subject, it’s so well thought out!
Ig another way to explain the use of dB is that dB is a multiplier
if one radar throws a bunch of energy and gets a 10th back, it will get a 10th of whatever energy (simplifying obv) is sent.
So dB can work like a percentage of what energy will return (with a better ability to stay readable at VERY low percentages)
have to admit I got a pretty good laugh out of the Cessna 172 minimum equipment list. Namely the world famous, omnipresent scraps of paper
Imagine the power of a loud, slow and low flying plane that can not be seen by radar!
Oh, wait 😂
I did a bit of my pilot training in 172, gotta be one of my most favorite planes to fly.
Recently I have been thinking a lot that I haven't seen a vid from you in quite a while, glad to see you again! Love your content.
I want someone crazy enough to do this IRL now. Stealthna-172 i am all in for that
THIS IS WHAT I LIVE FOR
6:59 i am laughing uncontrollably
