Since it isn't already listed in the video, the people performing are: Tim Perry - Guitar and lead vocals Rob Oberdorfer - Bass and vocals Annie Bethencourt - Guitar and vocals Becca Schultz - Piano and vocals Sarah Riddle - Percussion and vocals Levi Cecil - Drums and vocals Thanks to Ages and Ages for their help!
I can't get enough of listening to this band, such great talent. None of that noisy sound of bad voices hidden in loud instruments. The voices here are perfection and harmonious vocal waves with sounds of great instruments . Thank you Ages and Ages!!!.
NPR Tiny Desk!!! I have found so many wonderful bands and talents on this "programm". Here in germany we are allways some 5-6-7 years behind when it come to good music :D Just wanted to say thx!!!
Explosionskatze I don't think that you're behind, it's just that the record labels and radio stations don't like taking risks and sign new bands. Go out to independent music clubs and you'll fins all sorts of new music.
I caught this band opening for Lake Street Dive in April and they blew me away. Bought their latest release and spun it a million times since. Love the piano accents and the harmony vocals. Congrats to Ages and Ages for a great performance. Nice work!
I've enjoyed their music for a couple years but this NPR is their first live gig that I saw. Their songs are truly crazy-catchy, indeed. And I do love the drummer's falsetto chorus from 6:04. How cute and lively this band is!
This is way cool..love the sound and the words...so inspirational..makes me have faith in the human race..if this is the next generation i am hopeful Peace
Fabulously Talented group I am so glad there are still gifted musicians among us this decade. I love this group! I am so impressed songs have depth meaning and valor so rare these days with screamers who call themselves singing to hide the fact that they have zero talent. I heard this group on The Black List (starring James Spader) TV show season 1 episode 2, I think. So I found them on youtube and sent them to all my friends world wide. Great Job! Did I say I love you?
I blast around NPR almost every night. I love the almost, "not for prime time" groups. I enjoy all good musicians playing the music that goes with my brain. A lot of NPR are established main stream people that are great. But groups l;ike this I really, really identify with. They play chords I get. And the key board is off the chart on the last set. She rocks!
I love their version of "We need a little Christmas" and play it at least once a month lol. When I'm stuck late at work, it helps me to regroup and concentrate...for some reason. 🤷🏾♀️
Update: They were incredible. My girlfriend and I arrived to the show early and offered to help them load in. They were all very friendly. The music itself was gorgeous and their energy was just fantastic. I highly recommend going to a show if you have the opportunity.
+Evan Johnson I understand by "people" (for peolpe), probably you mean "band" or "musicians". I don't know what you mean by "normal looking white". I hope it is not intended to be racist. I am certain you may find "normal looking" amongst bands and musicians from all continents and regions of the world, some of them are not "white", still "normal looking". I hope you'll agree. I hope you won't say about BB King, Cesaria Evora, Salif Keita or Hiromi Uehara that they are not "normal looking". For sure, these musicians, in case you don't know about them, they are not white. Still normal, cheers :)
+constagrig Thank you. I for one have noticed lots of white artists on Tiny Desk, and I am super grateful to this channel for the amount of cool afro-jazz, flamenco, RnB, and other kinds of 'coloured' music it's introduced me to. I was really enjoying this band as well, and certanly wasn't expecting little nuggets of casual racism to spruce up the page :-\ The meaning of 'normal' is all too clear though--the intended word I believe is 'normative'.
I was just trying to be funny. Most bands with white people look like hipsters and not your average joe and that's what I was alluding to. I, too, am happy with all the different kinds of music and musicians NPR features.
Hey. Sorry if I overreacted! I get now that you were stressing more on the normal looking bit than the white bit. I saw a similar comment somewhere else (something to do with the courage to peddle white music) and it really annoyed me that people seemed to think NPR's rich diversity is a copout somehow. So many whites act betrayed if artists outside their community get a little extra attention. Anyway, peace :)
Click on random video. Find awesome band. Better than a lottery win.
Same thing here.
Exactly how I found them too
That’s such a cool way to discover bands......I kinda envy you on this one!

Nice band, sounds a bit like Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero's. But much more down to earth. No hippy-shit.

One of the best things about Tiny Desk Concerts is finding artists I probably would have never come across, otherwise.

Take off the white hood, I can barely hear you.
The lady perched with her various tambourines and knick-knacks needs to STOP.
Amazing! Best American group in ages.
Ages and ages perhaps.

Beautiful stuff, babe. You're golden.
Finally! A band full of normal looking white peolpe-just like me!

this shit is nothing that wasn't done in the 70's
get out of the 70's by not imitating the 70's
song4night got something against the 70,s?
song4night ummmmm so like really who the fuck cares
this Generation can do nothing but Imitate, and then act like they made something new.I'm sick of it
song4night
In my opinion, originality is overrated. But, if you'd like to make something original, I'd love to see it.
