Such a great discussion guys. So informative. Please continue doing these videos. I personally love it. Im sure your subscribers agree with me.
Hi Jennifer😊
Agreed
I was really nervous before buy the B9 (screen uniformity), but all nerves dissipated within the first hour of viewing and testing, I'm truly blown away.
Thanks for the video guys 👍🏼
The bad screen uniformity potential would have worried me too. Glad you got a good one👍

Love hearing you guys' discussions, you can review a TV and thats fine, but hearing these long detailed discussions with two people who really know what they are talking about but are also comfortable with each other to just shoot the breeze, you can really learn so much more. Thanks for all the time you put in.
I bought the Bravia-9 in 85 inch with the Sony BRAVIA Theatre Quad and am absolutely thrilled. The Picture of the Bravia 9 is magnificent in combination with the BRAVIA Theatre Quad, Movies and PS5 Games are outstanding and an incredible experience.
Thank you both for another excellent discussion on one of the hottest TVs for the 2024 model year! You are a great TV experts by yourselves and you make a great team that gives everyone who watches this video everything anyone would want to learn about Sony's new flagship BRAVIA 9 QD MiniLED TV.
Hello Brian, this is Michael. It was great meeting you and FOMO at MWAVE last weekend. You gave me some great advice regarding my JVC NZ8 vs. the 97" LG G2 OLED. The Bravia 9 is genuinely a top-tier performer in 2024; it would be my choice if I wasn't such a fan of OLED. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
Was between the B9 and G4. After much deliberation I chose the 77” G4 for viewing angle and, (here’s the kicker) because the G4 actually ended up being several hundred dollars cheaper than the B9 through the LG Partner store plus Memorial Day discount when I bought it.
My Bravia 9 is the best TV I've ever owned, and I say that as having owned 4 OLEDs including the A95L. Bravia 9 just has a beautiful, bright picture with amazing contrast. As someone who is very much into TVs and technology, it's the best TV on the market today.
What the? Better than the A95L?
@@gosman949Absolutely!!!
Buyers are ready and waiting for a 98” and larger B9 with the Pentonic 800 chip. Looks like we will have to be patient until 2025 or later.
They will miss the mark. TCL will be already cheaper and comparable. They make big strides in PQ and already is not bad, in some areas even better than Sony. In combination with excellent pricing (and discounts) - big boys can’t compete.
I’ll grab a 85” first. If they drop a 98” model next year then I may have to move the 85” to the bedroom 🤣
At that 98 inch size, I wonder if we’ll see an 8k option?
@@whitecrowuk575 if you realized this do you think the big boys haven't?, They're the "big boys" because they notice these things before everyone else and introduce new technologies b for everyone else
@@lordd794 it would tank brightness
Real good points about the basic image processing for just handling brightness. 4K means around 8 million pixels. That is a lot to manage and keep straight. That digital information has to be turned into real world physical results. You can just move the LCD pixels, you also have to light them. Trying to sync up 8 million pixels with thousands of individual LED lights, and then managing the brightness of each one, potentially at upwards of 120 changes per second, that's like trying to conduct the worlds largest symphony! It's such an ambitious idea alone, and amazing what modern TV tech is able to produce.
Local diming zones are a great compromise when you can't get as much fine grain control of each LED at such high sync rates. But they are still no substitute for the LEDS themselves, if Sony is able to get better control of each LED with finer grain brightness, then diming zones become less significant.
Great discussion.
I agree and there there is more to it than 8.3 million pixels. An LCD panel at 4K has 24.9 million LCD crystals that need to twist to let light through or block it.
Thanks Brian and FOMO
I wish this was in 100 inches.
That’s what I’m waiting for. I was considering the TCL QM8, which is 98” and not too expensive (relatively speaking) with a great picture quality. But apparently the up scaling on it sucks. Perhaps a bad reason not to get it, but if Sony if is going to release something in that size I’ll wait.
I’m extremely happy with mine , ❤
@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY hi Brian, im looking at the sony Bravia 9 85 inch and samsung qn90d 98 inch. They are at the same price at the moment and just wondering your thoughts on getting the best tv the B9 or getting a good tv qn90d at 98 inches. I watch all types of content. I love good picture quality but is bigger always better?
I have seen a test from Bravia9, I am glad I bought the LG G4. I have a PS5 and play Call of Duty in 1440 in 120 hertz, Bravia 9 does not support 1440, higher input level. 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, vieuwngangel les, sometimes blooming, so the total package is simply better, the G4.
We’re all waiting for the G4 vs B9 heavyweight edition.
83” vs 85”
In scenes that favour OLED the B9 still gets pretty close to the G4, however in scenes that favour LED the B9 is miles ahead of the G4. So you can make good arguments that the B9 has the better overall picture quality. If you extend the discussion to include aspects other than PQ, the G4 still has the same issues that OLED has always had and always will have. So if you're judging the total package it's a pretty clear win for the B9.
@bartus88 Maybe for you but not for me, total package if your gaming is just as much of a priority
@@eugenecia9424 but you are a gamer! A minority!
Yes, but also films and series. And the g4 is also ideal for that.I just buy a new TV for movies and series, but also pay attention to the game functions samsung balck box and matte finish not for me.b9 2 hdmi 2.1 and not supported for 1440, so it also falls off. Do you know how many consoles have been sold, so that is really not a minority
Brian, it was great meeting you at MWAVE. The wife and I are looking to get the G4. She had a high opinion of it over the others. Feels good to step up with the Highfalutin folks!😂
Great show guys!!! As Always.
I finally got to see a Bravia 9 today... Color me impressed. Since I'm not working as a Sony rep anymore, I won't get to play with it. However, I was quite impressed with what I got to see from the Sony Demos. The white text on a black background was absolutely impressive. Yes, I could see some blooming, but it was extremely minimal! And this was on store demo mode. This thing is a beast!
Future Proof is not really a thing anymore with how fast tech is changing...I thought 8K was future proofing ... I owned both a 75" Z8H and now a 85" Z9K 😅.
But I bought them for their peak brightness and picture quality Z8H @ 2500 nits and the Z9K @ 3500-4000 nits...8K was just something additional 🤔
Brian or FOMO does the Bravia 9 have to ability to be used as a center speaker with a avr like the A95L? I’m getting a Sony 13.2 receiver and it has the option (with the right tv) to use the tv speakers as a center high channel. Thanks 47:00

100” Bravia 9 would be a dream
Heck yeah!! It would sell out immediately!

Thanks ... But, i shall wait for the A95M (or whatever its going to be called) which should come equiped with the new MediaTek Pentonic chip (4x 2.1 hdmi) and a (brighter) 3rd gen QD oled panel 🤠
Thought Sony was discontinuing their qd-oled line. Atleast that was the rumor on some forum. Avr forum?
@@brokenwrench404 Absolutely untrue.
It is true that Sony's A95L Master Series QD OLED are in very high demand and supply can't fulfill the strong and steady high demand.
@@brokenwrench404 Dont know where you heard or read that, but, their QD oleds are usually their crown jewel tv's. Master series and all. Would be a weird thing for Sony abandoning it.
Yall ask how many dimming steps, or step equivalent the reference monitor has?
Remaster KONG SKULL ISLAND. Specular highlights would be amazing.😊
Hey Guy's! The 98in Sony went on sale this morning, just as you guy's said it would during MWave...And yes, I placed the order and waiting for it's arrival... It's a good thing I watched and helped set-up the 98in display...That thing is heavy...Lol!
Brian did hit the nail on the head - on majority of scenes oled was looking brighter - only in very few when content indeed was pushing hard B9 was brighter.
Let’s not forget better Oled contrast will make brightness seem higher even though being same - it’s not that Oled was brighter, it looked brighter - that’s what infinite contrast does. So b9 in given sizes is simply no go over similar Oled sizes.
Sometimes the OLED's are brighter because the dimming algorithm of LED's is forced to dim highlights if they are right next to black. Either that or you get a washed out area where it blooms.
@@paulcox2447 I’m referring to washed out areas - where small dark detail is present - that even though brightness is the same - oled contrast will make picture to pop more giving a feeling of higher brightness. In other words where oled can keep up with brightness often will look brighter. With majority of scenes Oled can keep up with brightness - even when movie mastered to 4000 nits. Now personal choice is whether you prefer minority of scenes with higher brightness or majority that’s under 1500 nits peak.
Very good discussion Brian you and Fomo really brought up some good points about the Sony Bravia tv
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for watching!
Brian and Fomo do u have Soundbars who works well with Sony TVs, is Samsung recommended with A95L?
After beeing disappointed by the A5000, which Soundbar company u recommend with the A95L?
I want to avoid Lyp Sync Issues and other Problems
I would go for Q990D top notch sound quality
Q990D, HTA9, or get HiFi system and get some speakers separation makes surround sound much better
I still have my Sony 65” HX 900 from 2011 and Maybe this Bravia 9 is better. No other TV’s are!
FOMO after purchasing the reference monitor 😂😂😂😂 what a legend
Anyone dismissing it as old technology. Do they also dismiss the 140 year old combustion engine Hyper cars that beat any other cars out there?
Is a Jet fighter/plane outdated because it still uses jet engines?
OLED is great but it is not perfect either. It's that simple.
Can you test the game pc with rtx hdr ? Please so i know the nits of the tv in game mode

Be VERY careful. Once you go oled, it’s hard to go back. lol I would say definitely if you want the overall best gaming experience and picture quality. It would be a significant upgrade, imo.

I disagree when someone says that a particular TV is the "best" or the "king of TVs." There isn't a single best TV for everyone; it's all about your personal viewing environment and experience preferences. For example, when someone claims that the Sony Bravia 9 is the best TV of the year, that's based on their own experience. The Bravia 9 is a mini LED TV known for its high brightness, which is great for rooms with a lot of natural light. But if you're watching in a dark room, you don't need a high brightness TV. In such cases, a mini LED TV might not be the best choice.
In a dark room, an OLED TV is often a better option. OLED TVs provide perfect black levels and infinite contrast, which makes the viewing experience much more immersive in low-light environments. The self-emissive pixels in OLEDs can turn off completely, resulting in true blacks and stunning picture quality that is unmatched in dark settings. So, when someone asks, "What is the best TV?" the answer really depends on your specific viewing conditions and preferences. There is no one-size-fits-all answer.
YAY! FUTURE PROOF IS THE FUTURE, not the present??
Fomo does the Bravia 9 have to ability to be used as a center speaker with a avr like the A95L?
@@brokenwrench404 Yes, Sony's BRAVIA 9 has speaker terminals in the back of the TV that are designed when you want to use all of the TVs built-in speakers as your center channel speaker. One of the upgrades of Soy's new flagship BRAVIA 9 QD MiniLED are the very nicely enhanced built-in audio system so when used as your center channel speaker the audio fidelity and dynamic tonal range is excellent!

If it’s true that 2025 Sony’s will have 4 x HDMI 2.1 ports, I’ll keep my A95L for another year. Def thinking about Mini LED for next year though.
Yes, its the led of the future ...until next feb/march.

Bravia 7 and 9 have the same master drive same LEDs it doesn't have the wide angel or the peak luminous and the contrast is less otherwise it's the same .
The Sony guys talked about this.
The biggest difference are the dimming zones.

Do you think Sony will release a ~98” Bravia 9 next year?
The Sony Bravia 9 looks like a great tv for an astronomical price. No thanks!
I wish you guys would make 3 or 4 more videos about the Samsung QN90D. Affordable, bright, colorful, reliable, and by Nov-Feb it will be very affordable (compared to Sony).
We get the 85inch B9 in Germany for just 3000€(include cashback). The 75imch Z9D cost 2016 10000€!😊
So we need a TV with a Sony processor, a QD-OLED panel with MLA gen 3
Right now larger mid range is best value if you're mostly streaming because of compression, upscaling, etc still being a huge issue in the US as far as getting everything out of your screen. These greedy wifi and streaming companies may one day keep up with the tech but we'll also be paying the price. 🤦
It’s so annoying we can’t get the 65” in the uk
$1599 75" Sony X90L vs $1699 55" Sony Bravia 7, so which one for the living room?
Both look good in the store with 4k demo. Off axis test in the store didn't bother me.
We need much more 4k content, that's the best cure all.
$1599 75" Sony X90L is the better choice here - Fomo addressed this in his Q&A video
I just saw both of them at Best buy. Smart people will buy 90l.. I could barely see any difference. Take the extra money you saved and put it in high interest money market.
Can you please address the dirty screen effect that appeared on the 65-inch Bravia 9 that Rtings said was mediocre. They gave it a poor rating. The picture they showed of that was pretty bad. I ordered one for my daughter's family and it's coming in 10 days and I am concerned. For the money i would have expected better panel quality. Thanks.

We have seen any dozens of all screen sizes of the BRAVIS 9 and the panel cleans up after about 200 hrs of normal use.
And next year Sony will bring out a new OLED and call it their flagship.
Future proof? What tv is really future proof Brian when every year the manufacturers drop something new? Something they say is an upgrade and on and on. Sony and Samsung said that QD OLED was future proof and then they turn around and pretty much dump QD OLED and now are going with Mini LED as their top tier tv's. Give me contrast and black levels over a tv that burns the hell out of my eyes. Everyone is NIT crazy when it comes to tvs now days that its laughable. I have said it a million times and that is Mini LED will never beat OLED because LED is still LED no matter how you cook it or hype it. I will never go back to LED. Now when Micro LED hits? Maybe but thats years down the road. Otherwise its OLED or nothing.
It is far from future proof, a better Soc is due for 2025 models that will support
all Hdmi's at 2.1.
There will always be one feature that requires upgrading.
I’m betting we’ll have a chip shortage in 2025 after China takes back Taiwan.
it's a $1500 difference, not $1600. The Bravia 9 is $4800 not $4700. Still a big difference but just wanted to clairfy.
Do you think the Bravia 9 will come in 98" next year?
s95d king this year
If you’re gonna charge a premium price, every mode should work properly. That includes BFI, even if 95% of people don’t use it. Maybe next year.
For the BRAVIA 9 TVs we've seen BFI works fine. Also the prices for the 85", @ $4,799. and the 75" @ $3,499 and the 65" @ $2,999. all in and delivered Nationwide is very competitive with all other premium TVs.

I'll tell what the probably the perfect TV is ..
Give me a B9 with the LG QNED89T 98" panel!
Sony should be able to get away with that for no more than $10,000 ..
And it would sell!
Possibly creating enough demand to bring the price down a few thousand in time ..
B9 = Blooming opening menus (local dimming if turned off for some reason) annoying. Viewing angle on B9 is poor and you see blooming in black bars and subtitles easy. So for now I still can't buy it. Back to OLED, paying extra 1000$+ for a OLED with zero blooming is 100% worth it.
Viewing Angle on B9 is great for a LED. Also there is no blooming in the black bars. Barely any blooming with subtitles. You’re basically getting Oled blacks with LED brightness and brilliance.
$4799 CAD is an insane price
Go QD-OLED, never go back!!
Get your S90c before they're all gone!!
I Respectfully have to say this:
The Bravia 9 is not the better TV.
You guys are saying all these technical details......but in the end.....
........Does the image suck you in? Are you mesmerized by the picture?
I spent 2 hours in Bestbuy comparing the Bravia 9 against all the best TVs ... G4, S95D, S90, A95L....and my conclusion is:
The Bravia 9 compared to the top performing OLEDs.......the OLEDs pictures sucks you in with their 3D image, rich colors, contrast, and inky blacks.
The Bravia 9 picture looks flat....... it doesn't have that OLED pop either when it comes to colors.
And I'm sorry to all those people who recently bought the Bravia 9, because you got suckered into the Sony hype on their TVs and you overpaid for a TV.......so don't try to justify your poor purchase decision.
Being a Brighter TV doesn't equal better.....nope!
The ignorance is strong here! You obviously didn’t compare anything. What part of the video in the beginning looked flat? All that 3D depth and contrasty picture.
I hope you didn’t think anybody would possibly believe you when we all have eyes, but judging by yours we definitely don’t see the same. The B9 is revolutionary and I have nothing but oled displays in my home. But it’s taken me over. I have to say it’s truly giving me blacks so close to oled it’s scary with insane brightness!
@NexGenTek LOL
I am happy you love your new TV ....
But your opinion just like mine is subjective.
Even the TV people who was with me who works at BB that was demo-ing all the TVs prefers the OLEDs over the Bravia 9 too.
No one is saying it doesn't have a great picture......because it does..... BUT
Me and the others just preferred the picture coming out of the OLEDs TVs.
If Sony would release 90+ B9 then I would be interested- but price would be probably insane. TCL will be eating their lunch. See what LG did with processing yoy, TCL doesn’t need much more to get super close. Amount of sold 90+ inch TVs is growing rapidly. Fast growing market. Sony and Samsung need to wake up.
TCL is still lacking in motion and most of all quality control. I’m not wasting money on short lifespan budget TV’s anymore

no 4000 nits. Liars
Neither. Only in the realm of mini-led. Oled still best.
Not if brightness matters.
What do you mean by 'best'? Because the Bravia 9 actually trumps the A95L is certain key areas, like shadow detail. Check out FOMO's review, and you'll see the Bravia 9 gets closer to the reference monitor in a number of scenes than does G4 and S95D in certain aspects. Conversely, those OLEDS marginally get closer to the reference monitor in other aspects. It's all a trade off. While I can appreciate the advantages of OLED technology, mini-LED also has its advantages as well.
Regardless, the Bravia 9 has upped the mini-LED game, exceeding OLED in key areas, whilst getting near-OLED levels of contrast. Thank God there is true competition in the market driving the both technologies forward in spite of OLED/mini-LED devotees making reductive comments.
