Excellent. Great info. I haven't had my machine very long and have done very little with it but I know that this is an important maintenance procedure I need to get familiar with. I have big plans for it.
Thanks for the info. It took a lot of guesswork out of removing the original lense. Love the music. Is that from hell on wheels? Just before Bohan kicks someone’s ass
The intro music is originally from Tiger King I believe. The artist is Evret Zevalkink (sp?) and the title is Wild Wild Town. Hell on Wheels was a fantastic show though!
Not sure how this applies to mine... I have the 20W diode module and the lens has a nice cataract right dead center, so I assume this is what's wiping out my beam. My lens cover has no ring inside. It appears the glass is glued in without the inner ring. Xtool go cheap on me? I bought the system last August. I see no option to even buy lens from them any where on their site, but after hearing there's other sources for the part, but not ever going to join FB for any reason, was wondering where to find the lenses.
Yeah, clean your lens every few hours of burn time. Using air assist helps too. If you're looking for a lens kit for your 20w, I have them available here: panhandlelaser.com/products/xtool-lens-cover-replacement
I appreciate the help, but you should be aware that some xTool lens covers are different that what you featured in this video. I have a D1 Pro 20W machine I purchased in 2022, and the lens covers I received from the factory use 10mm glass, not 14mm, and have no brass retaining ring.
Great video - even with the mistakes, as we all make them! I've emailed Mike, but got no reply. Is there any other way to get in touch with him? Thanks.
Greetings Ryan, first of all, thanks for the instructive video. I live in Brazil, so how could I buy this kit? I have the xTOOL D1 Pro. P.S. Another thing Ryan: How will a novice and inexperienced person know when to replace the lens? Thank you
You'll be noticing a gradual loss of power and possibly a larger laser dot on the surface you are working with. You'll also have a dark spot on the lens cover glass. A light spot is normal.
I updated the video description a few weeks ago. Apparently Mike has retired and handed everything over to Steve Mills. I have no contact info for Steve and he has not reached out to me to provide it. Sorry.
I noticed in the kits you are selling that they do not have a "key" to remove the ring, what should we use? Also is that lens 14mm? I have the D1 no-pro 20watt. Thanks.
If you've soaked it, it comes out fairly easily with a small screw driver or something similar. I have some that I can add to an order if you leave a note when ordering. No charge.
Usually, yes. I do get people ordering a different size from time to time. If you have the ability, I suggest measuring your lens before ordering replacements.
It's super glued in. You can soak it in acetone for 20-30 minutes and it'll fall right out. It is probably either 13 or 14 mm if it's a x-tool. You can plop a new one in and add a couple drops of ca glue and your good to go. I have both sizes and more.
Great video LN, another tip is to have. rocket blower to hand just to give everything a blowout before and after assembly.
I did it!! I changed out my lens and now ready to test cut!!! Thanks..........Trish

Thanks for the info. Great entertaining and informative video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
God so far this has gave me a good laugh and yes I can so relate to days like this.

can I use 100% acetone nail polish remover? Thank you for the video
Yes you can!

I usually get them shipped by the next business day.
what about the 40w verison? Do you use O rings?

You can find him on the xtool Facebook groups. @mikestott He's normally very good with responding to emails.
Just read on their website, that if you choose not to use the O-ring then they will not honor the warranty

Olá, obrigado! You can email mike.f.stott@gmail.com , I'm not sure he does international shipping, but it won't hurt to ask!
Thanks Ryan, I'll save that email.
How do you know when you need to replace the lense?
You'll be noticing a gradual loss of power and possibly a larger laser dot on the surface you are working with. You'll also have a dark spot on the lens cover glass. A light spot is normal.
Couldn't find the link to Mike Stott's kit here or on Amazon. Please advise.
Thanks

The kit for the xtool d1 10 and 20w is 14 mm. I have the tool to remove the ring that I can include. Most folks don't have one with the retainer ring.
@@LaserNoob thanks
@LaserNoob do you know where we can get the tool, or what else I could use to get it out.
If you've soaked it, it comes out fairly easily with a small screw driver or something similar. I have some that I can add to an order if you leave a note when ordering. No charge.
Does xtool use the same lens for the 5 10 and 20w d1 pro modules?
Usually, yes. I do get people ordering a different size from time to time. If you have the ability, I suggest measuring your lens before ordering replacements.
My lense has no ability to unscrew inside.
The newer ones are just glued in. It will pop right out after soaking in acetone for 30 minutes. You can glue a new one in or use the oring.

Hey buddy I need a kit but cant find one plus my lens cap does not have the locking bushin

I guess you're glad it came with 8 lens in the kit. Sorry🤭
