No puppies. No techno. No clickbait. No gimmicks. No scandals. No eye candy. No bullshit. This channel rocks!!!
No eye candy?
@@chasusafa I'm talking about female eye candy and I bet you can guess the channel.
Wait I like puppies tho. They're cute!
1. Cats rule, dogs drool. That said, the lil bastards definitely like to paw at recently moved pieces.
2. My DJ buddy (who also occasionally sold pot at our local school's chess club in the late 90's) has a cat named "Oontz".
3. Spot on.
4. What about free knowledge? I'm SOLD.
5. There have been some online cheating possibilities discussed here. ☹
6. C'mon, Nelson's a pretty good looking dude.
7. Technically I'm "bullshitting" in the comment sections of YT videos all the time, but it's more synonymous with "friendly banter".
8. I've been learning sooo much from this channel over the last few weeks. I wish more people played chess. The world would be a better place. ✌❤🤘
@@cfgauss71 Do you mean _female eye_ candy or _female_ eye candy?
Thanks for giving honorable mention to the Bongcloud opening as your #11 King move. There is nothing more badass than an intentional bad move that puts you at a disadvantage while confusing your opponent, silently taunting them.
Or it leads to something like this: ua-cam.com/video/xZyTfjKIKYU/v-deo.html
There is an advantage with bong cloud it makes your opponent overconfident and cocky so it’s easy to bait big pieces In with the king like the queen then taking it
I've never seen the triangulation thing before that is really cool. Thanks for the tips Nelson
I had to use it once and failed 😆 ---> 40 moves rule and it was a draw
I accually taught of that without seeing this btw i have 184 iq
@@matejnemec7628 You have 184iq without the 1 tho
Conclusion of this series : How to play chess effectively
Amazing how you explained Opposition without ever utilizing the word Zugzwang! Well played :P
11 Ways to use your king effectively in chess
1. Castle Kingside (00:13).
2. Castle Queenside (00:41).
3. Don't Castle (01:54).
4. Defend fianchetto weaknesses (03:38).
5. Not taking your opponent's pawn (04:56).
6. Plan ahead side-step (07:23).
7. Active king in the endgame (10:04).
8. Opposition (12:18).
9. King in front of pawn (15:41).
10. Triangulation (17:30).
11. Bongcloud [Chess lore suggests this to be a distant relative of the Botez Gambit] (21:21).
The opening where you gambit your king
19:47 you might feel like you didnt explain it well but trust me we understood the concept perfectly! this info is gold because sometimes in this situation we would just make random moves and hope for the best lol and the only reason we might get a draw is luck or because the opposition is also making moves and hoping for the best as well haha
Just the fact that you felt like you had to explain trangulation twice. You are a great teacher and an even greater person, so thank you for all that effort!!
Love this guy
Great video - I especially liked the triangulation part and think it was explained well BECAUSR you had to go back and clarify a few times. That really helped me to understand it better!
actually, the triangulation part can be explained better with a different definition of opposition. According to this alternate definition, we have opposition when it's not our turn, and when the rectangle of which 2 opposite corners are the 2 kings has all its corners on the same square color. "Straight" direct/distant opposition is when such a rectangle has an area of 0 squares.
This mini series has been great. Thank you. It would be cool if you put this into a Playlist if you have a chance. I missed a couple of them.
These recent videos are on the longer side but they are making a difference with the way you stack the strategies. Very nice.
Edit: Good luck in your tournament!
Love your series man it's really helpful for us you are doing great
Your videos are so instructive and clearly explained. Thank you for making these vital principles so easy to understand!
Congrats Nelson your almost at 100k subs! Thanks for all the videos they have help me and a lot of people in our chess journey.
#11 is literally the best suggestion ever! Good content right there :D
But for real, though, good luck on the tournament!
2:34, in this position I would actually prefer to O-O, I understand that I'm casting into a pin, but on the next move I'd move knight to g8 blocking off the queen and I'm fine with the semi-open f file in case they want to trade my knight for a white square bishop. I sacrifice my f pawn in many games anyway if I plan on castling kingside. Or semi open g file in case they apply pressure on the pinned pawn with dark square bishop and decide to sacrifice.
Opposition is something you can and should practice with a partner, especially opposition at a distance. Great video!
Great pieces series. Would you be able to make a video on principles/ tutorial on Bishop pair? I think that’d be a great content.
Le roi c'est le boulet du jeu aux échecs, il y a plusieurs fois où j'ai bien plus de pièces que l'adversaire et je perds quand même à cause de ce foutu boulet de roi à protéger
Really valuable. Thank you!
16:00 “who don’t know any better” 😂😂😂😂 this guy lol
thank you for this video, when I saw the title the first thing I thought was “end game” I need to learn how to use my king at the end and your video is very useful thank you very much Maestro! 😌
Thanks for the tips man, good luck on the tournament, hope your opponents play bongcloud against you
Nelson is the BEST! Learned so much from him. Thank you 🙏
(1) I've just finished watching this entire series of videos. The only things that were new to me (I've got around a 1550 rating, but haven't played in a few decades) was not taking the opponent's pawn, but blocking it instead; and how to use the knight to avoid being checked by a queen. (Some things, like rook lifts, were familiar, but I don't recall ever using them.)
(2) I was once told that the reason Grandmasters play "weird" openings against amateurs is because the GM know they'll be able to win anyway. It seems to be a form of handicapping.
How do you use the elephant effectively ?
There's nothing like explaining triangulation and ending up with a 2x2 square - gotta love this channel
Approx. 9:10 - If that is castled queenside, you often have to slide the king to B1 to strengthen the position, in a way not needed with castling kingside.
You’re fantastic at this. Thanks so much
Great explanation of zugzwang - thank you! :)
I would like you know that your videos have really helped me develop my chess game. Thank you 🙏
That series is really helpfull and also many of people can watxh it cause not everything is in 1 video and rhey want to know more about pieces using
Thanks a lot for all the great lessons! Best chess content on youtube by far, the self-promoter of the big channels don't even come close to your talent as a chess teacher!
I keep saying it, and I'll say it again for the algorithm; this is great stuff, thank you!
Super helpful man
This is the clearest explanation of opposition that I've seen!
5- “it’s very hard for the opponent to get through”
Gets check mated in his game immediately
16: 29 I guessed that move correctly!! I thought like in a real life battle the strongest to the front and the weaker ones following behind!
That's a precious lesson, thank you.
Greetings from Algeria 🇩🇿
Useful tips!
Good luck on your tournament!
Proper King use in the endgame can be unbelievably powerful
In 9. King in front of pawn endgame do you also draw if you just go d3?
I can't tell you, how many games I have lost just by these 3 methods to use Kings in endgame.
8. Opposition (12:18).
9. King in front of pawn (15:41).
10. Triangulation
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC VIDEO!!!
can you do a series of playing against lower rated subscribers and talking through the games?
I Love your UA-cam channel. You explain the topics very well. I am a beginner chess player (ELO 1600) and I have a question for You. What do you think about french and sicilian defense. Which of them is easier to play in this level? Thanks
1600 is not beginner lol
@@glowingspacecow8980 thanks Man !
I am not Nelson, but I would say the French Defense is a bit easier at our levels because #1 opponents are a lot less prepared for it and #2 even though there are a lot of variations the Sicilian has nearly infinite variations and nuances so it's very difficult for both sides to play a perfect game.
That being said I just prefer the Caro-Kann against E4 as I can guarantee I reach a solid and comfortable position for myself as black.
@@LordSoviet Thanks Man. I really agree with you!
@@LordSoviet Thanks Man. I really agree with you!
Good luck, and thank you!
6:34 you are already bishop vs rook and you said "I blundered" later. 😮
The plan ahead side step is usually to avoid the nasty skewers.
Haha Bongcloud! Future video idea: can you show us ways/scenarios to purposefully stalemate/draw? Place your king one knight's move away from queen, etc? Helps beginners eek out a draw when opponent is busy making five queens or something.
Ahhhh I finally understand opposition now. Triangulation is neat too.
I loved the bong cloud meme well done!”
Is it possible to do triangulation with only 1 pawn left?
Good luck on your tourney!
what's the problem with king g8? 20:30
5:45 why did you sacrifice the Rook?
How is it using king effectively if the bongcloud is not a good opening?
Good luck Nelson!
“I don’t think I can think of a list of ways to use your king” -ChessVibes (Queen video)
I don’t believe he really made the king video😂, that’s 🔥
Glad you did the king one too!! Haha
5:46 why can't white take the rook with the pawn on f4
Getting opposition is one thing I needed to impress on myself, but a good player already knows it and will not let u get that advantage; and u didn't explain anything about the bongcloud except that it surprises and "confuses" an opponent
He explained that the bongcloud is not a good move. After 1 e4 e5 2 Ke2 Black has Nf6 attacking the pawn, and d5, opening diagonals for both bishops. It's a joke opening. It's not one you're meant to play.
@@rosiefay7283 ah, ok
I put on the subtitles by accident and it has some kinda auto-correct thing going on, so when you said "Fianchetto" the subtitles read "fee and kettle"
Fianchetto is an Italian word, so it would make sense that it isn’t in English captions.
OK I have to ask, why wouldn't they just take the rook with the pawn at 6:10?
They probably would
We need a video titled "How to play the BongCloud opening"
No bong cloud ?
12. Shouldering
Well presented including triangulation. Channel Magnus in your tournament.
"don't castle"😆😂
Much better channel Than Gotham Chess
we're winning some endgames whit this one
How to utilize king effectively: e4 e5, Ke2!!!
Aight time to remember these tips lemme write em down
I’m the future:
Aight tip 1. Castle Kingside.
Me: Ok, ok so first I gotta castle
Tip 2. Castle Queenside.
Me:Ok, I probably just was sleepy while writing that I’ll change it later
Tip 3. Don’t castle
Me: what
This is the defenision of how to win a pawn battle
Thanks Nelsi you help me to reach 1400 in 6 month!
Boungcloud = 2.Ke2?! But if I'll play it would be a suicide move because I'm not a GM (2.Ke2?? Blunder) 😂
Has anyone ever heard of controlled opposition...or m k u l t r a .
It is a prerequisite of the "grand masters" and others who have these GLORIOUS titles bestowed ...upon themselves.
